Good food and service excellent

Nice poppadoms and starters but the balti tasted weird, like it was sweetened with ketchup. Not for me I'm afraid.

Great food, great prices and always busy so make sure you book early.

My son who is 10 says this is the best place to eat and he'd rate it with infinite stars if he could! He says Elvis is really funny and looks after us.....and the food is the best! It is a really good family restaurant 😊

Staff training needs updating. Sat down my husband had starters, just looked at the main menu, waiter came up and said we are closing in 5 mins time 6.15 pm not happy as my husband is diabetic. Waiter then came back to say only joking I am a comedian

We love the spice of India but wait along time for our main meal as they were really busy and didn't get our coffee ...but we enjoyed it as usual..many thanks Debbie

Wasn't too sure what to expect when we went in but can't praise it enough for atmosphere and especially elvis the waiter as he likes to call his self 😉 food was lovely thoroughly enjoyed the whole time we were there, first time we've been and definitely our go to restaurant for the future 😀

For me, the best Curry house around

Not been here for nearly 10 yrs. Took my granddaughter. I have to say that the food was fresh and delicious. I had a lamb jalfrezi, my granddaughter had tandoori chicken on the bone. Best I've seen. Forget about the bombay 8 overpriced and poor food , this beats it hands down. Will be back soon.

Meals on set menu The starter poppadom platter the green mint is lovely and refreshing Had the prawn cocktail and garlic mushrooms as starters , and the lamb shank with mashed potato was lovely just fell off the bone so soft and mash was very creamy would recommend it staff are lovely and service is great nice friendly atmosphere !!!

Food seem to have gone downhill. Very bland and dry. Also paid for 2 chutney trays that they didn't put in. Disappointed

Fabulous. Best Chicken tikka madras I've ever had. Lovely waiter had the best dad jokes. Ask about his sister at the gas board.

Booked this for my mum’s 80th birthday and had such a lovely time. Food was delicious and lots of choice. Service was excellent and the waiters were really funny and made my mum’s birthday really special. I’ve never been here before even though I live locally but will definitely go back and would like to thank all the staff for such an enjoyable evening.

Food was dryed out and inedible and had pleasure of paying £96.00 will never eat here again!

Average. Nothing special and not as good value as it used to be. The price has crept up now and is no longer that bargain it used to be.

Staff are very friendly and make you feel comfortable but the food is really poor never had a Indian meal that was so bland and no taste

Everything was lathered with grease/oil which ruined the flavour and texture to a point it was inedible. The curry sauce with the Biryiani was like they just opened a can of soup and poured it in the tray - worse thing I have ever tasted in my life Chips were still frozen in the middle so went straight in the bin Unfortunately this will be the last time we're ordering from here again I get your busy and your rushing food out but you need quality over speed, and I bet I won't be the only one who's majorly disappointed by the food tonight who won't be returning

Absolutely top class Indian! Was here at the weekend and it was brilliant from start to finish. We arrived in a busy car park (good sign) however still found a space. We were greeted and immediately showed to our table, the interior is very well decorated and is a pleasant environment, not cramped, well arranged. Service was impeccable, almost immediate with the drinks (how did they do that we said!), especially better ever when served by ‘Elvis’! Food was very timely, with poppadoms served quickly and then the main meals as we finished these. The meals were very tasty, authentic and flavoursome with a good selection of traditional and speciality dishes available. Once finished the dishes were cleared away in good time but at no point were we hurried to get the bill or leave. A thoroughly enjoyable evening with a happy team at the Spice of India.

Probably the weirdest Indian Takeaway I’ve ever had. My family & I order an Indian Takeaway at least once a week as we love them, so like to think we’re clued up on them😂The curry sauce was watery & really tomatoey- a bit like a tomato pasta sauce and all 3 of the dishes we ordered were like this so was not just due to 1 curry having tomatoes in. The poppadoms were stale and overall the meal was very bland. I think our bill came to just over £30 and feels like a bit of a waste to be honest. We thought we’d try somewhere new and has completely backfired. I checked the reviews prior to ordering and had seen more good than bad so went with it. Let this be your sign if you’re reading reviews and looking for one to put you off, find somewhere else. We usually order from Barton Rouge or the Anmol on Warrington Road, which are amazing compare to the takeaway from here. The interior is extremely outdated and looks a bit grubby. Service was relatively fast but thats the only good I have to say i’m afraid. Would not recommend.

My first experience of ordering from here, first of all, it is impossible to get through to them on the phone, so I went and ordered it when I got there. 40 minute wait, which didn't bother me. They came out with my order, said what it was and off I went!!! Got home and seen that I was given the wrong order. Phoned them up, finally got through and asked for a refund, they told me they were too busy and could I call back at 9:30, which I will do, so time will tell if i can get through to them at 9:30 to get my refund. Not the best 1st experience!!!

Service was slow. Food okay, good quiet venue.

One of the waiters was constantly telling unfunny jokes whilst we we were eating and it made the whole atmosphere and experience uncomfortable. We had gone as a family to chat and enjoy each others company.

Was really nice a while ago, now it's over priced and freezing cold food! Wanted us to plate it back up and take it back in to get it warmed back up! Ridiculous

Lovely food, hot, excellent portion size and really tasty. Take away was lovely, we have eaten in before and this just as nice.

Pleasantly surprised by our experience here. It was very busy when we arrived but we were still given a table which was great. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The food was good. Not the best we've had, the chicken may have been previously frozen as it was a bit springy, but it was edible. I think the price point is the big winner here which draws the crowds. We will go back.

We had a lovely takeaway, I had a vegetable korma, my husband had a lamb korma and our youngest daughter had a chicken tikka butter chicken. We got free poppadoms which came with red onions and mango chutney. We also got 2 naan breads. I think it came to £20 something not bad for 3 curries and naans. I would recommend.

Had a lovely meal for my mums 70th tonight.there was 18 of us.food all served together. Hot and delicious no complaints they even give mum a free cocktail..Will deffo go back staff and service was amazing

Best vindaloo I've ever had, extremely flavourful! The staff were friendly and the decor inside is really nice. Only been twice in total, but this place is becoming one of my favourite curryhouses.

Absolutely gorgeous food and the restaurant is perfect. If there is a better Indian in either town nearby I would be amazed. Staff friendly and price is very reasonable too. I got takeaway last time and had a pint while we waited (which wasn't long) even though the place was packed! Couldn't recommend enough!

First time visiting tonight and it won't be the last. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed every mouthful. We had the 5 course meal plus drinks and deserts and it was only £27.50 a head. Really worth a visit x

Best indian around!!! Only tried recently due to the one we regularly ordered from increased there prices, yet dropped the quality of there food. Definitely our new regular.

You just can't find a better place

I came here for a family meal. The service and atmosphere were friendly, the food and drinks took time to come out which was because it was busy. There was a mix-up with the drinks, and it took over 30 mins to get our drinks.. The food was okay but felt not authentic and probably not the best Indian in town. My partner and his mum and brother both felt sick that evening. Which we have to assume maybe some of the food didn't agree with them. I would give this place another chance in case it was an off day!

Can not fault anything! This is the best Indian food around by far and the staff are lovely. I even got a free surprise cocktail when they realised it was my 60th birthday.

This is my 3rd visit to this place. Food always been really tasty and fresh but this time the food just didn’t seem up to the high standards. The red food colouring is a bit to much used in all there dishes. Waiters are really nice and responsive.

Always tasty and delicious meals. The service is fantastic. We either eat here on a Friday or Saturday evening and book a table prior as it is usually busy on these evenings.

Very poor visit, we ordered food and waited 45 mins to be told the gas had gone problem in kitchen . Should of been updated so that we could of left and gone elsewhere won't be going back in hurry if at all

Great food, lovely staff. I have to shout out to our waiter Elvis who has some great jokes to jeep you entertained. The prices are very affordable for such Great quality food that will leave you full to the brim. The ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect for a date night or an evening with friends.

Put the price of the 5 course menu up to £15.95 from £9.95. What I know everything is going up this is a 50% increase. And St the same time, hardly any meat or Prawns in the dish, all very and liquid.

Wow the food was amazing, staff fantastic and it was a great night.

Been coming for years, can't be beaten for service and food especially with their fixed price menu.. have tried more expensive Indian's but still always end up coming back here. Probably be back in next week..
