Nice place serving reasonably priced traditional punjabi food. Would definitely go again. Would be great if they served tea and coffee.

This place is amazing. My greatest experience is the wonderful ladies staff. They are very friendly and respectful very well mannered and always helpful. I highly recommend this place the food is very tasty. The bar staff are amazing as always. Thanks for the lovely service.

Excellent, took 5 of my pals to Special Spice, food and service was exceptional. My guests could not elive the value for money for our food and drinks. Thank you Special Spice. Revisited in December 2024 with a pal, a pint of John Smith's was less than £3:00 and the food was great value and quality, as always.

Lovely little pub come Indian restaurant. Didn't quite get the name of the waitress but she was excellent and provided lovely service.

I had sharabi lamb curry which was delicious.

It's ok. Nothing has changed since I went 6 years ago. The menu looks the same. The same small portions of curry dishes when compared to others and the flavours are just ok. Much better places unfortunately wouldn't recommend for a night out, may be a night in curry place

It's a great place for dinning Indian curry. I have been here a few time. Food is probably the best in the town.

Poor service. Fish Pakora missing from order. Called the restaurant who came across very uninterested and ask I come collect the item. Stated I requested delivery for a reason however after tryjng to sort with them, realised I was going to have to collect whilst family ate theirs and items going cold. When I got there, they came across rude and pretty much threw the missing item at me making me feel it was my fault they missed the item!! Not impressed. Might as well not paid for delivery.

Arrived freezing cold can’t be eaten will be thrown in the bin can’t heat it up because we have no electric at the moment hence ordering a takeaway absolutely disgusting

Food is nice I had a biriyani but it came out to fast orders and was out within 10minutes this isn’t the first time I don’t get chance to eat my starters Also the restaurant is very hot there is no air conditioning or air circulating around Would return but on a cold day and when I just wanted 1 course also the waiter kept asking if we had finished when we wasn’t got quite annoying if truth be told

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful ice cold beer, the large mix grill we ordered was dry, kebabs were very spice and looked like wood logs, I don't think I'll order a mix grill from here again.

Poor example of a grill of this kind. Cafe like set up, rushed at every point of the meal by poorly trained staff and over priced cuisine. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Good curry, good service. Just lager and Guinness though to drink. Would love to have an Ipa or similar pale ale with food. On the whole, great. Thanks

The barman seem to severely overcharge for the drinks ,the soft drinks were same pruce as the cider , basically making up the prices .The food pretty decent ,and basically there is no atomosphere .No music .

Food was tasty with right amount of spice and tenderness. We ordered Special Mixed Grill. Prawns were spot on 👌 . The fish pakora were mourish. I like the how they provide sauces in bottle so you don't have to keep asking for more. Reasonable prices. Service prompt and friendly.

Only 3 out of 5 food hygiene rating. Had a takeaway and paid £13 for 2 chunks of chicken sliced up to make it look like more and a very thin sauce. A complete rip off and will not be ordering again and won't be recommending

Fantastic fresh food hot when delivered would highly recommend.

Great place for a grill and drinks…..service and food has improved from last visit(last year). Butter chicken on bone is a must try and the veg kebab are excellent, chicken tikka was a little undercooked.

Great pub, friendly people, good selection of beers. Pub's own car park, dining and bar area separate. Clean place, reasonable prices, tasty food must try. Food is only served from 3.00PM. Service has improved and so has the tasty food.

Average overall. You have to order food and drink from the bar and it's got a very pub feel to it, just with an Indian/Asian menu and style. Food was ok, but for Birmingham nowhere near the top places. Price was reasonable and staff were friendly. Clean and tidy too. Ok with your mates but definitely not somewhere for a restaurant experience .

Its very busy restaurant and bar ,service was good and quick

Normally there’s lots of onions & peppers in the chilli chips however this time I struggled to find any & the aloo tikki was very oily. You could squeeze the oil out of it

The food and service was good. The beer let them down. I had Guinness, it was like drinking water, there was no consistency to the drink. After the first pint, I thought might have bottom of the barrel, so went for another one just to confirm. Again, like I was drinking a soft water based drink. I will not be drinking Guinness in this place again!

Family night out!! We enjoyed a family mixed grill night at Special Spices last night. Food and service was good. Family friendly pub and well priced drinks. Mixed grill was a generous portion. I also enjoyed the chilli chicken and chilli fish. Fish pakoreh were cold and tasted slightly old so dropped a star for this. But would be back again to give it another go

The chicken in chicken butter curry was really chewy like rubber.

Been there twice to meet my future business parthers and we seated in the Pub area of the restaurant, the atmosphere needs a bit of tweaking to further attracts more wide range of drinking adults, but for now it works for people who already used to it, one thing that really annoys is when the waiting staffs keeps on asking and coming back for our glasses whlist we are having a meeting, i felt like i need to get order drinks, food or else vacate the seat.

I am truly disgusted! I visited this place with my Muslim friend, we asked if the food was halal and the manager said yes. We later found out that the food is not halal! Avoid at all costs. Food was below average and staff were very rude

One of the best indian cuisine experience. High value for money and very tasty. Would highly recommend the mixed grilled platter and chillie chicken lollipop which was delicious. Staff was also very friendly and the loved the peaceful environment. Also I loved te Kulfi and Gulab Jamun 🤭

My family and I (party of 8) went here for breakfast this morning. We ordered various paratah for everyone, including our 16 Yr old daughter and 12 Yr old son. They ordered Aloo paratah. We advised person at till that we had 2 children in our party, which he could also see from where he was serving. We've had paratah at various other restaurants, and home of course. These were way too hot and spicy. Our children didn't eat them, and it spoilt their meal. Baby sized portions of yogurt to go with large paratah. You have to pay for yogurt seperately. If you want extra butter you have to pay for that too. Paratah were brought out at different times. Some with, and some without yogurt. My paratah went cold by the time my yogurt arrived. Some people had finished by the time others had just started eating. Some tips for the owners: When ordering paratah or alike, advise customers of spice levels. Then either ask chefs to adjust, or offer alternative like plain parath in this case. Where there are multiple customers serve food together, and in one go. Provide pickle/achaar foc too. If charging for yogurt, then give a breakfast bowl size like other places. Butter should be foc Else they look like money making operation which currently they are. Not focusing on their customer demographic/experience.

We came here with friends who are regular visitors, and we can see why - no frills, just superb Indian food in a pub setting. Our friends demolished an enormous mixed grill, while I had paneer with red peppers and onion, which was outstanding. Paneer is my go-to Indian dish, and this was soft, nicely spiced, delicious. My husband said the same about his lamb rogan josh. Service was efficient, with very friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to our next visit!

Advertised for breakfast 9 to 12 when I went last night. Bought I try this for first time. Arrived 10:30. Place was closed. Board clearly stated open in bar last night. Wasted journey. Even took punctuate of board

This is a very very good Indian Restaurant/Takeaway, I am new to the Birmingham area and unfortunately come from the Bradford ends, this has beaten any takeaway over my normal direction and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Amazing food, unfortunately meat / chicken is not halal but seafood and veg options are great and taste just like in India

I ordered a takeaway via ubereats asking for 4 mint sauce. They still only sent two which meant I had to eat the rest of the food dry as they don’t bother reading the customer note and still only send two, happens every time I order

When the food arrived ( which was early ) 👍. The chicken was barely cooked and tasted funny and also almost half of the cheese chips were black and / or burned .

First time at Special Spices, went with 8 a group of people, everyone was very impressed with food ,service and prices .soon as you go in the door you can see your going to have a good night.

Fantastic food. Big portions. Food is delivered fast and hot and is very tasty. Lots of sports on the TVs which is not my thing.

Amazing food at affordable prices. They also do cocktails although I hasn’t tried them yet. Their sheesh kebabs are so tasty. The naan are not too thin or too thick just right. Portion sizes are large.

Fantastic place , top food with plenty to choose from ,same as plenty beers to choose from .🍺 Extremely friendly staff and fantastic food ,,and loads of sport to choose from a choice of tv,s . As the evening went on started to fill up ,but everyone still received the same friendly service .

Our local desi pub that was already top marks for their mixed grill, Punjabi BBQ and curries. For the first time we decided to try their Punjabi breakfast, following a recommendation. My wife had the alloo paratha and one Gobi, I had 2 x alloo gobi mix and one keema. They all tasted amazing, portion wise they are fairly large but worth saying unlike other restaurants where the dough is thick, these paranthas were well filled but thin and crispy. Note- I ordered way more than I actually thought I could eat..2 paranthas is more than enough so for me the 3rd was taken home, but if your up for it, fill your boots! Indian chai was excellent. Overall very tasty and authentic Punjabi food, service was friendly and swift. Value for money very good. Our bill came to £21.00 which included 2 chai's and came with yoghurt (dhain) and butter 💪🏽. Menu has a range of both English items (fry up etc) as well as other Punjabi items like the kulcha and saag & maaki di roti. So will certainly coming back on another Sunday to try!
