Souters Inn in South Ayrshire

6 off us had Sunday lunch there, and all food was amazing and service was excellent, Personal touch from the owner explaining the there advertising of the name, P.s this is not Hooters lol

Would never come back here… had to wait for a very long time between meals. They brought our mains out before we finished our starters, the waitress didn’t want to take our mains back, and they then forgot a dessert and failed to bring them when we flagged that they had forgot. Will never be back.

We popped in with 5 adults and 2 wee ones, and they seated us no problem. The meal was delicious and we found the atmosphere quite quaint and lovely. We are here from Canada and think this is definitely a hidden gem that must be discovered.

This was one of the very few restaurants open in the local area, so we decided to give it a try one Friday evening. The restaurant was upmarket but clean and well presented. Staff were polite but a little too keen to clear plates away and seemed to rush us,even though one of our party was still eating. I ordered the sausage and beef pie, which was very tasty,but I was slightly disappointed with the portion size. The plate was made to look like I had more food than I did. To warrant the price we paid, the portions should be bigger. Also the menu was quite limited, which was a shame. We ate here as a treat for a special occasion, but I don't think we would eat here again.

Souters Inn is a very well presented place to eat, a tad more upmarket than we're used to but it was a special occasion so we decided to treat ourselves. The food was quite good, I'm not sure I could justify the prices of the food as I had the steamed salmon & the greens were quite underdone, however the sauce and salmon were excellent. The plates are designed to make your portion size look much bigger & the pudding too was good but a little on the expensive side. Service was on point, if even a little too hasty. My father was still eating when someone offered to take away our plates, giving him a slight complex. It was all a little rushed, good and bad really. I don't think we would come back on account of the heavy prices etc but I'd certainly say it was a lovely place to go.

As a regular at other establishments owned by the same company I was very disappointed with Souters Inn. The food was nice, but nothing special. The tables are far too close together. We spent most of lunch avoiding being hit by jackets from other patrons. I found the staff to be quite abrupt and rushed, perhaps Darren from The Highgrove could do a few shifts and show them how it’s done. Definitely not worth the money, I’d rather drive further away than return.

We booked a table for four and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Food was fantastic and it’s great that they cater to those with coeliac disease too. Most items can be made GF (the exceptions were pasta, burgers, pies and haggis) but this left a large varied menu to choose from. Will definitely travel the 1 hour journey just to come back for dinner! Desserts were great too (fish and chips and peanut brittle sundae photographed are GF!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just popped in for a pint,had a great pint of Guinness in fact had to have a couple. Clean place lovely setting if anyone is on the a77 to Ayr or further well worth a stop

Another lovely lunch in Souters Inn. The staff are always so pleasant and helpful. The menu is very varied with a huge choice. The atmosphere was great. Above all, the food was delicious.

Been in here several times over the years but tonight was outstanding service. Give the Aussie girl a raise as she provided great service and it really makes such a difference to be served with a smile and kindness. She even offered to take our twin daughters downstairs to let them choose their own ice cream. All the other staff should learn from her! On top of this the food was delicious and huge portions. A bit on the pricey side but you get a lot for your money.

The food was very underwhelming. Service wasn't great either. It was expensive for what it was. I've read loads of great reviews, hopefully this was an off day for them. Clean and comfy, food and service was a let down.

Many previous dinners here were terrific so we popped in for dinner. As we had not made a reservation we were barely acknowledged and sat at a high table to the side We were not offered menus or drinks. Several waitresses walked past us, made eye contact and completely ignored us We left without being served. Won’t be back — extremely disappointed with customer service.

We were a large group that had pre-ordered. Service was not great - they forgot about us half way through the 3 course meal and ran out of spoons!! Food was nice. A cold sticky toffee pudding was re-heated in the microwave WITH the ice cream still on the plate!!! Would not make the journey back.

Good value and the starters we had at lunch were sufficient for us . Very good staff who gave great customer service. Female toilets could do with a check re paper and seats in middle I seem to remember could be replaced , but very clean

Stopped for a meal in the restaurant to meet with family. The staff were incredibly friendly and the service was great. Good choice of food that was both interesting and delicious. Well worth a visit.

Has an evening meal there with family and friend's. It's a lovely spot, if a little out of the way. Really good food, big portions and some very nice home made ice cream. Would recommend.

Quaint pub with thatched roof, had dinner here and recommend booking as it was full with a high turnover. Nice food and not too pricy. There's also an icecream parlor for daytime visitors. Plenty of parking too

Had dinner here last night - didn’t have a reservation but they managed to get us a table but needed it back after 70 minutes which was fine as we only wanted main courses. I ordered the chicken schnitzel which came sat on a pile of gravy which was weird. I didn’t remember reading that on the description so thought it was my mistake. I did eat it most of it but the gravy was beef in taste and made the schnitzel soggy and unpleasant. When paying, I checked the menu and there was no mention of gravy ! Maybe other diners would like it but it wasn’t for me therefore maybe say to customers at point of order that it comes with gravy or put it in a small jug at the side of plate for customers to decide whether they want it or not. I didn’t check the menu or send it back earlier due to the timescale of having the table as there was no time to replace it. Service was good end everyone else enjoyed their food.

We had an excellent meal there. Couldn't fault the food. The staff were being kept very busy, so service suffered a bit but that's not the staff's fault. Would I go back? Yes for sure.

Thank you for fitting us in on a busy Saturday, much appreciated. My husbands food was spot on, garlic mushrooms and the liver, he was ecstatic with happiness n scanned it all. My food however was very bland. The mussels lacked seasoning, the wine added still tasted of wine and hadn't cooked out. The mac n cheese prob had too much pasta water added and was tasteless. So sorry to say that souters, I've had loads of gorgeous meals but not this time. Hubby loved his ❤️

Chosen at random for our evening meal after moving to CULZEAN campsite. Great choice, very busy bar and restaurant with very skilled and hard working staff. Excellent Menu and the food was outstanding. We enjoyed it very much and will be back

Located on the road from Glasgow/Ayr to the Cairnryan ferry this a superb place to stop for a meal. Large car park just off road. Despite being busy because of The Open at Troon the staff were more than helpful to get us squeezed inn Excellent prawn curry.

Great meal to have. Definitely would come back for their pulled pork burger as well as their tbone steaks. Lovely service, people and selection of food. Extremely worth eating here.

On the main road with a large car park so access is easy. Handy online booking system so you can ensure you get a table. Staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent and service is quick. This was our first visit, but we'll definitely be back.

This is not a hotel, it's Souter Johnny's old house. Living and breathing history and it's really a small cottage, in a beautiful little village. Love visiting here and also getting ice cream 🍦 from the cafe'

A five minute drive from Trump Turnberry Golf Course and you'll enjoy exquisitely presented food delivered with a warm welcoming service in a historic building for a fraction of the price you'll pay at Turnberry. I asked for suggestions on something healthy and tasty for lunch that wouldn't bloat me fir the afternoon's golf. The waiter recommended the salmon and although not overly keen on salmon, I accepted his recommendation and how right that decision was to prove! Devine! My hungry bother conquered the colossal banoffee sundae for dessert. Must confess I did indulge in the lighter but I'm sure equally tasty option with the biscoff cheesecake. Beautiful!

We're camping at a site not far from this Inn, and as we were looking for somewhere to eat out tonight after arriving and setting up we looked through the reviews of local restaurants and this one jumped out right away - the reviews were almost all gushing with praise about the quality of the food - so we decided to give it a go. Good call. The food was genuinely stunningly good, absolutely first class, served quickly and red hot too. I'd go so far as to say it was one of the best meals we've had anywhere. My Korean sticky ribs were melt-in-the-mouth, and the lamb chops were thick and tender and perfectly cooked. Simply first class. We treated ourselves to a sundae each for dessert and they were huge, with OMG-good locally produced ice cream and lovely sauce, too. As I said, one of the best meals we've had anywhere in our travels. Very friendly and attentive staff too.

Found this gem of a pub when out on Tuesday. It is without a doubt the best food we have eaten out in a very long time. Excellent service from the lovely Australian waitress as well. Would highly recommend making a diversion to include this restaurant if you’re exploring Scotland. Will definitely visit again.

Always stop here every year on the way back to Cairnryan Belfast ferry after touring the highlands on the motorbike. Super friendly staff. Excellent food and good beer garden if the sun is shining.

Visited for an early evening meal. Lovely dining areas with a hybrid of modern and rustic decor. Service very attentive from friendly staff who were keen to help. Food was tasty, with generous portions. Would recommend the Aero mint ice cream sundae for anyone with a sweet tooth, incredible and worth the money. I'm only knocking a star off because it was really busy, which affected the ambience a bit - a victim of its own success in that regard.

Two car loads, ie eight adults, called in last minute on the way to the Cairnryan ferry. Phoned ahead to confirm that they had a gluten free menu, they had... The service was first class, as we were in a rush.... The menu was excellent and they offered GF. Plenty of parking with a lovely atmosphere and surroundings. Pity we hadn't more time to spend there, but we will certainly be back..... Many thanks

Excellent food and first class service .

Dropped in with my husband and kids for lunch as we are relatively local - wow - we will definitely be back! The chips are to die for! Generous portions, delicious kids meals, lovely big sandwich with all the trimmings.....and then we saw the dessert menu! You could come here just for the dessert! Efficient and friendly staff, the place seemed to run like clockwork with a relaxed atmosphere even though it was very busy. Thanks for a lovely lunch - worth every penny.

Had a really nice meal at the Souters Inn. Plenty of choice from the menu and very good value. Portions are good-sized, well prepared, and well presented. It's a really welcoming characterful pub that's well worth a visit.

We ordered Fish and Chips for 4 of us to take away so we could go and sit on the beach to eat. We decided to sit at the bar while they cooked. And so ordered a round of drinks. However, the food was done so impressively quickly that we had to down the last bit of our drinks! The both the fish and the chips was beautifully cooked. They were still piping hot when we reached the beach 10 minutes later. Just the perfect amount of saltiness. Not greasy at all. Came with a lovely portion of tartare sauce and a good wedge of lemon. Our only criticism was that the food was too blooming filling for us to go and order a second helping! The staff were very lovely too Would absolutely recommend!

The restaurant looks very cosy inside with a fireplace and a TV around it. The waitress was outstanding, and the food was exactly what I was looking for. We had our breakfast here. We were so pleased with the service. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and beverage we received. The restaurant also has a great ice cream selection and garden by the A77 which is open on a nice day. If you are passing by this beautiful town in Scotland, called Kirkoswald make sure that you have a drink and food here. I can highly recommend The Souter's Inn.

What a beautiful place to eat. This place is impressive. The grounds are beautiful and extremely well kept, the interior is very well decorated and extremely well kept. The staff Very polite, very courteous and very pleasant. The restaurant is beautiful, very well kept and of a very high standard. The food I could not fault the food in any way shape or form, it was perfect. This restaurant was packed and had a line of people waiting to eat. My one and only criticism would be because it was so busy it was really noisy. This is not a fault the staff or the restaurant could do anything about and is a victim of its own success in that respect. Some people don’t mind this I sadly do, but like I say it has no reflection on the restaurant, The staff or the food. Would I eat here again? Without a shadow of a doubt yes I would. Amazing food guys thank you.

Pleasant dining experience, great car parking space, seated asap, drinks and menu provided asap, fish soup and lamb chops of the special board very good quality, left with some cakes from the take away counter all in all pleasant dining experience, place was very busy showing that's its a popular place!

Stopped in here, by chance, for a family meal. Restaurant was busy. Everything looked fresh clean and inviting. Staff all appeared to be young(maybe I'm just getting old). They were friendly and very efficient at their jobs. Interesting menu and I really was impressed with my meal. Not the cheapest of places to eat out, nor is it a rip off. The quality of food and the pleasant surroundings and cheery staff made it worth every penny. There also was a shopping area as you enter the premises but sadly I didn't get a chance to browse there, but again everything looked very inviting. I'd love to visit again.
