Brig o' Doon House Hotel in South Ayrshire

We came here the other day as a family (4 adults & 4 kids) for lunch. The hotel, always picturesque, has been wonderfully adorned with seasonal decor 🎄 They seated us in a lovely spot within The Coven in front of a double height window overlooking the river. The food was amazing and the service perfect. I would highly recommend coming here, you will not be disappointed! 😁

Hello, I attended Christmas dinner at the brig o doon on Christmas Day with the Brown Table booked at 1.30pm. Unfortunately the full booking was a bit of a mess and food was terrible. No one in attendance enjoyed the food. It was below par and downright bland. It was basic and seemed very tasteless. The soup not one person at the table finished, also all starters and mains were also returned with over half plates and no server thought to question this at all. I can hands down say this is the worst meal I’ve ever had and I’m not just saying this looking for a refund etc as I know this wouldn’t happen. I’m just wanting to be brutally honest. I was part of a table of 15 and this was just not what we expected for £105pp. We came often when costley was owner and food was impeccable. This has severely fell below par since rad group. A heads up also, I know it was extremely busy though we were only asked if we wanted drinks at the start. I would have thought a lot of profit was brought in from drinks. I had to savour the one glass for almost 2 hours. Overall worst meal I’ve ever had.

Friendly staff and a really nice environment. The food was very tasty and if passing we would love to visit again.

Was treated to a meal by my friends a couple of weeks ago food and service was excellent , take plenty of money with you rather expensive

Great wedding venue, we didn’t stay as not many rooms, but the venue is very large. Our wedding had 150 guests, and all had plenty of room to move about. Very nice meal served piping hot, which was no mean feat.

The hotel is set in gorgeous grounds and is worth a visit. The staff are very knowledgeable of the local area and keen to help with advice and recommendations. However, the old fashioned should be avoided at the bar. It is overly sweet, served in a tall glass and with a straw which is a bit odd.

I attended a wedding and the experience was excellent from beginning to end. There was an area set aside for guests to gather before being invited to the main room for the ceremony. The room was absolutely stunning, lighting and atmosphere were spit on, and the ceremony was very well done with the celebrant having the right amount of seriousness and comedy. This was followed by canapés and drinks in a room with beautiful views of the river and gardens outside which was downstairs: while the room was being prepared for the excellent wedding meal. The soup and steak pie I had was very tasty. the pastry had a bit of a bite to it and not just flaky. The choice of desserts were too sweet for me but I was offered ice cream instead.All staff were helpful, friendly and kept glasses filled throughout the meal. We went back downstairs to the bar after the meal while staff were getting the room above prepared for the reception. This gave the photographer and videographer plenty of time for guest photos outside in the beautiful gardens. The band was very good and played music suited to everyone attending the wedding. Friends were staying the night and I visited one of the rooms. Excellent views from the windows and the beds looked very comfy. I can easily say that this was the best venue I have attended for a wedding and made it a very special day for the bride and groom as well as the guests. Staff were friendly and helpful right from the receptionist at the desk on enterong the hotel, right down to the waiters, bar staff etc. The MC and events manager made sure that guests had a great time.

Lovely hotel and staff. Great position too for those who want to see some places linked to Robert Burns.

Just popped in for a coffee but ended up having my dinner as well Superb food and coffee

Perfect wedding location, fabulous!

Lovely surroundings staff excellent however very overpriced for what you receive £8.50 for 4 small pieces of cauliflower for a starter .. Lasagne with side chips very little mince but swimming in cheese to make it look better. Much better food and reasonable portions sizes at other places in the area.

BEWARE This is a lovely hotel but if you are not a member of a wedding party or event being held at this hotel, avoid it at all costs. As independent travellers, we were subjected to loud thumping music well into the night on three nights of our four-night stay. Check what events are on before you make a reservation or just avoid this hotel.

Such a beautiful hotel the grounds are so beautiful as well can’t fault the hotel in any way I highly recommend it

Beautiful friendly staff and the magic of the hotel name akso how it makes you feel when you leave that .you have been somewhere special .

We just went in for a look at there used to be a coffee shop which looked over the river.The coffee shop is no longer there but you can have coffee or a drink in the bar.This overlooks a new extension just getting built.Unfortunately the extension blocks the lovely view of the river if you are sitting outside. There is a lovely restaurant for anyone to use.The hotel is mostly a wedding/function venue.Very old fashioned but a lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. The gardens are glorious but only available if at a function.

Beautiful venue for a wedding. Very disappointed with attitude towards disabled guests. To the point that I missed the ceremony.

We got married here a week ago and I can only say that the Brig O’Doon team has been absolutely incredible. Adele and her team made our day so smooth, everything was timed perfectly, they allowed us to have time just the two of us throughout the day, they ensured everything was to a T. I couldn’t recommend the place enough (the rooms, venue, gardens etc) as it was everything I could’ve hoped for. Thank you for making our day so special 🤍✨

We stayed for two nights and it was a great success, the room was very cozy, they treated us kindly and the breakfast was very good. It is about 2.5km or so from the center but there is a bus at the door.

The food was beautiful as well as the service and the atmosphere, everything was well presented and its a beautiful hotel
