I actually had chicken curry and rice, oh boy it was absolutely amazing just perfect. It was perfectly hot as in heat and perfectly hot as in spices. The chicken was perfectly cooked the carry absolutely tasty and perfectly spiced , it was a very good lunch and so so fresh. The place was spotlessly clean, the staff was very police and very helpful. I certainly will call again for my goat curry and rice.

I’ve had a great vegan main meal in this simple and very friendly cafe twice in the last 10 days - first curried chickpeas then butter beans with okra, both served with rice and peas (kidney beans) & portion of veg… Wonderful on a cold dark evening - spicy, filling and absolutely delicious! Both times we were given a little extra on the house - one time a homemade soft drink, the other time a dumpling… Enjoyed the reggae playing too ☺️ Both times I left in such a good mood - thank you!!

Soul and vibe definitely has one of the best Caribbean foods in South Wales! I have tried almost every item on the menu, and I can tell you there's only one other that comes close.

Excellent food, I live in Cardiff but would come here to eat again in a heartbeat.

Jerk chicken, rice and peas, plantain, festivals and fried chicken were good.. Mac and cheese was literally pasta with cheese on top, not good one bit!!

100% the best Caribbean food I’ve ever had. Couldn’t strongly recommend it enough, enjoy.

If you want Jamaica food please order from V&H never from this people I'm sick with flue I order food as I was unable to cook before coming to deliver a woman rang me stating that if my adress was where I wanted food to be delivered I said yes then a different number called me stating they can find I stood by the window looking at the police station there was no car coming I opened the front door no one I told her she then claimed she couldn't find the adress I phoned the number which phoned me earlier It was a women stating they came they were knocking at the door no one answered I told her I had already spoke with the girl she said she couldn't find the place she began stating she cannot hear me I then heard a man voice saying hang up throughout this process I was standing outside they called me twice I said they need to refund me no reply this people are frudester and base on their voice & lies they told they are not clean at all always order from V&H kitchen their place is clean and they are very honest with time and they food tastes really good. Refund me my money

Final edit... I'm not coming back. The food has taken multiple steps backwards in quality, flavour, but worst of all; portion size. I paid extra for a larger portion and had a small handful of oxtail in my (total) £23 takeaway. I'm done. It's not worth the money. Tried to reach out on messenger, but they didn't respond and block me after the updated Google review. *edit* I have been here at least 5 times with perfect experiences, but last time (sun 13/08) wasn't as good. In comparison, it was awful, in fact. Portion size, waiting time, available items, food quality... I hope it's better again next time. *end of edit* I'm writing this review as I'm finishing the last piece of oxtail, almost sad that I'm done eating... DAMN this was delicious! I'll be back soon to try more of the menu! Sadly I didn't have time to make a picture of the food. It was still piping hot by the time I came home and I was raised to eat the food when it is warm!

My 2nd experience with S&V and had to say something as I can't fault them. Such a tasty curried goat and the chicken is so soft and the rice is so nice. The fact I got a phone call to ask about substitute item goes a long way ... The fact that I felt I had to call the restaurant to thank them after I ate some of the food they sent... excellent food!

Absolutely gorgeous food every time

We ordered a takeaway through Uber Eats and it was honestly the best takeaway we’ve EVER had! We live in Abertillery which is 35mins away. The food arrived hot and the lady who delivered was very lovely! We ordered the curry goat, jerk chicken and mince curry mains which come with rice and peas. We also had a few side dishes including the BBQ chicken wings which actually tasted Bbq’d, as did the jerk chicken. The curry goat was packed full of flavour and so tender you could cut it with a spoon. The rice and beans were again full of flavour and not stodgy or heavy. I honestly can’t recommend it enough, you will not be disappointed if you order from here.

Travelled up from Cardiff because there is no decent Caribbean places here. AND IM SOOOOO GLAD WE DID !!!! You have just gained customers for life. Staff were so friendly and food absolutely outstanding !! We have family that live in the Caribbean and if you closed your eyes whilst eating you would think you were there !! Thank you from two Caribbean food lovers !!

Wow, first takeaway from here, loved it! Jerk chicken was proper spicy, rice and cabbage was soft and buttery, delicious. Will be back for more, definately feeling the vibes...

Nice food, i had the lamb curry

First visit last night and not my last. Ordered a beautiful fresh chickpea curry with a side of fried plantain. Would highly recommend trying this cute little place. Fresh vibrant food that is made with love!

WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBED HOW GOOD MY FOOD IS. But we'll give it a go. I ordered curried goat and it melted in the mouth. The flavour was not overpowering at all so you could taste both the goat and the curry it was in. The plantain is cooked to perfection and a large quantity is given. The festival is fresh and sweet. Not what I expected but perfect as dessert or to dip into the curry. I have tried many takeaways in different places and I have to say this is the best one I've had!

Amazing food and service, really good home cooked vibes. Highly recommend the jerk chicken and the brown stew chicken with plenty of plantain for sides. So reasonably priced we could order so much food!

Absolutely scrummy food and the sorrel is the best I've tasted. Wholly recommend!

We took our friends for a meal as they have come to visit us from Malaysia, so we chose here. The food was absolutely incredible, and the service, music and atmosphere was impeccable. Absolutely fantastic evening ridiculously low prices, thanks Bernard & Leon for looking after us and apologies if we were too loud!!

Absolutely brilliant meal, delicious food, huge portions and amazing host all for a ridiculously low price! From the outside it looks like it’s a take away joint but I strongly recommend you eat in and get to know the staff. Really lovely people who are clearly passionate about food. BYOB which is sadly rare these days but allowed us to make our own dark and stormys! Bernard is a joy, old school Jamaican who knows his craft well. A hidden gem that deserves to shine ❤️

I ordered food from here yesterday, oxtail rice peas , ackee & saltfish , tasted amazing . If your ever in Newport town it’s definitely worth a visit and great Youl have friendly welcome . Been back to soul and vibe today and had the jerk chicken , saltfish fritters & carrot cake , beautiful fresh food always 😍
