First and last time here this evening. The chicken in the Thai Green Curry had a bad taste to it as it was clearly 'off'. They thought the curry sauce it was in would mask this, but it didn't. I won't be back.

I’ll tell you what, the food here is superb. It’s been some time since I ordered from here but I am so fed up with poor quality, lousy tasting, overpriced Chinese takeaway food. I got a vegetarian red curry here and a portion of Thai crackers. The curry portion was generous and the vegetables, including red pepper, peas and carrots were fresh and tasty. I particularly enjoy the tofu and potato. The Thai crackers (£1.5) are far better than Chinese crackers too even though Chinese takeaway tend to provide free crackers with main meal orders. I’ve also enjoyed hot spicy curries for years, and maybe it’s an age thing, but I find their vegetarian curry to be very hot, maybe it’s just me and an age thing but I now add a teaspoon of sugar to their curry to help balance the spice - it works up to a point. They have a notice up advising no variation to dishes - perhaps this is to keep their food authentic or maybe to prevent cheaper ingredients being substituted for more expensive ones. The coconut rice too (£2.5) is really flavoursome. In an earlier review of this place I’d noted that the additional food cost of this takeaway tested against main dishes from local Chinese takeaways might harm business. The fact is that while this remains the case, Chinese takeaway prices have since increased, but poor quality, poor tasting Chinese food is still endemic here and the quality and fresh taste of this Thai food is very far ahead by any measure and worth the extra cost.

Been visiting this cosy little takeaway frequently as the food is just delicious. It's well-prepared, traditionally cooked Thai food. Consistency of the meals is excellent and the portion sizes are just right. Best food I've ever had here and hope it's around for a long time.

Seen some bad reviews on here and can’t get my head round them. Food is so fresh and authenticity Thai. It’s a bit more expensive than the Chinese etc, but there’s no comparison. We eat here at least every fortnight and the standard never drops.

I got food from this place this weekend for £18 and it was absolutely stinking and very small portions, the staff were not very nice at all, we will not be back my advice stick to a Chinese at least you get good value for your take away.

Although a little pricey , given the quality of the food served, I'm happy to pay that little bit extra. Fresh ingredients, beautiful sauces, and the perfect mix of flavour and spiciness. Lunchtime menu is excellent value for money.

I was so sad when I lived in banbridge and mii chai closed. I now live in Newry and found out that this is the same owners, I made a large phone order for 5 people last night, order was perfect and correct, fresh ingredients and hot. I’m so pleased that I can enjoy their food again and wish them all the best :) finally a break from greasy chineses and chips shops in Newry when you fancy a take out. :)

I have no doubt this little place has the best Thai food in Northern Ireland. I ordered the Laos larb a famous dish from Isan in north eastern Thailand and one of my favourites. Let me say, I was blown away with the authenticity it was bursting with flavour and well balanced and for this particular dish very spicy, as it should be. I have travelled to Thailand over 20 times and honestly have had worse at times in Thailand itself, this goes a long way considering good ingredients for this dish are hard to come by here. Portion wise for this dish it's about twice the size of a usual portion in Thailand, great value. Unfortunately for me I live in Belfast :( , otherwise I would be eating from this place 2/3 times a week. Next time I'm anywhere near Newry I will absolutely make a point to call back in. A+++ and well deserved. Just to add, it's more of a takeaway than a restaurant, perfectly fine with me.

2nd time visiting here, and not disappointed! This is really authentic and full of flavour, exactly how Thai food should be. In addition it’s fresh and clean, the fact you can see your food prepared in front of you is alway a good sign!

I am now a regular customer of the amazing Soi 9.. and i travel from another town for this food.. The food is fresh, tasty and full of flavour. I have my favourite dishes but still i love to sample the specials.. The coconut rice i could eat all day long as a dish on its own! Duck and pineapple curry is just 'wow', never have i enjoyed anything as much.. I have sampled thai food in many places, firstly in Thailand itself where i fell in love with Thai street food, but nowhere in this country ever did i taste anything as authentic and rich in flavour, until this lady opened up 'Soi 9'. The crackers are amazing, nothing like greasy chinese crackers.. the starters are too good not to have with every order i make.. this dips are just heavenly.. Since this place graced us with a healthy option take away i rarely choose to go anywhere else.. Its simply a must for anyone who has yet to try it..

We called without booking, however it wouldn't be necessary to do so, as we were the only customers there. The server seemed more interested to get the order on the table, than answering our inquiries about the meals. The food, when arrived, was served on tinfoil, not as expected plates.

Very tasty chicken Massaman and red chicken curries with steamed rice. Only criticisms are that the sauce was a little bit thin and quite salty for our taste but we will definitely be back.

3 visits in last month and great, great food each time. Can’t wait until the next one! Recommend the Tom Yum soup(beware, very spicy !) , pork dumplings, red curry, coconut rice. Prawns in these dishes were lovely.

Went for a safe veg Thai green on our first visit and veg spring rolls. The variety of veg was fantastic. Really enjoyed it. A few seats inside, which we availed of. We loved it and will absolutely be returning. Everyone seemed to be ordering number 62- stir fry, chilli and basil. Will have to return to try it.

I have visited Soi 9 several times since it opened. Each visit was excellent. The food is freshly cooked and the taste is excellent. Its great to have something different in Newry to try. The street boxes were lovely and my prawn Panang was gorgeous. I have been recommending it to everyone.

Best takeout food served in newry packed full of flavour with fresh ingredients. Don't know why others are comparing prices with other Asian restaurants in the town. This place is in a different league. Wish it every success

I’d driven past this new place in Newry a few times and it looked nice inside plus my interest was piqued when I’d heard good things about it. Also, my wife kept going on about giving it a try. So we did. We opted for the £5 2-in-1 box to sample the fare, The 2-in-1 consisted of a takeaway box filled five-sixths with rice and the remaining one-sixth with whatever choice of admittedly very tasty Thai dish. What did we think? Too much rice. Waaaaaay too much rice. You could get a lot more for £5 from a Chinese takeaway. The Chinese buffet over at the Quays gives you as much as you can eat for £13, Here, we ended up eating what we had in a few minutes then ended up making something at home a couple of hours later because we were still hungry. Rice is a great filler but it’s not something I would pay £5 for. Sorry, brand new Thai restaurant - you’re going to have to do better. Like fill the box half and half. Otherwise, we won’t be back.

Soi means street in Thai; 9 may refer to Bangkok. Three of us decided to try out this fairly new takeaway.

Turned up in good time before a crucial Celtic game, to be told they weren’t open until the actual kick off time. I queried the staff member and asked for the boss as I was sure this couldn’t be correct, but we were asked to come back after kick off time. The nonsense of this was proved by the fact there was a goal in 21 seconds. I pointed this out to the management via messenger and was told they were open 20mins before KO & everyone was in on time. That was it. No apology for the incorrect information or the fact we had to run across town to get a seat. Poor service on the day and worse service after the fact. Costs nothing to be civil & say ‘sorry about that it was just a bit of confusion’ but apparently that’s beyond the management.

Well where do I start. Service terrible and rude. Didn’t seem like they wanted me to order. No smiles from the staff. Also no mention of it only being cash on the website. And wouldn’t let us order till we had cash. Bit strange in my opinion, did they think we were going to order and then run away? Also found a long hair/ maybe Pube in one of our burgers which was a nice touch to our meal. Also two burgers had no sauce, which made the burger dryer than the Sahara desert. They didn’t fancy offering any sauce for us to take with us either. All in all awful experience
