The bar has a sign outside offering Amstel beer at £3.49 and Fosters at £4.49 but I went in and asked for those beers and they said both offers were off and the cheapest pint was £5.10! They are just baiting people with offers to get them inside. I walked out. Very poor.

What a godawful place, if your going to employ staff in a pub at least make sure they know what a shandy is and the difference between a lime and a lemon. Next time I've got a half hour wait for my train at Victoria it won't be here.

This is a very useful and pleasant utilitarian bar on the way to the platforms up to Number 19 on London Victoria station. I cannot comment on the food as it is not a place I would consider to eat when there are so many options in the area of Victoria Station. The staff are very pleasant and eager to help. It is rather disappointing that if you ask for a small glass of wine (which I believe is 125 ml and should be a legal offering) the "small" glass at this establishment is 175ml which was a surprise and clearly designed to maximise consumption and presumably turnover. Just beware if you happen to be driving at the end of your journey.

I first discovered this place when my train was cancelled and the big Wetherspoons was packed solid. Since then I have used it several times as a meeting place socially and for business - easy to find - generally not difficult to get a seat - and mostly good value (I felt 95p for a small pack of cheese biscuits a bit much though) . Staff are efficient and friendly and I will certainly be using The Sloe Bar again .... probably give the cheese biscuits a miss though.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Victoria Station, the Sloe Bar is a gem, a little oasis. It's a quiet place for a chat if your meeting someone at Victoria Station, like I was. Staff were fine too. One down side, don't leave anything behind, why? I left something (low value) and try as hard as I might, there's no way you'll get an answer on the phone. My fault for leaving something of course, but frustrating to get no answer on the phone from the Sloe Bar (continued attempts to ring, early/late, with no reply over two days!).

Firstly let me get something off my chest.....I hate Southern Rail, they are the most incompetent bunch imaginable. However having travelled fairly frequently to London and my train cancelled or delayed I have now found somewhere I can rest my weary feet and calm down whilst hopefully awaiting my train home. This pub is quite tucked away next to the ticket barrier for platforms 15-19. It's not exactly a buzzy sort of place like Wetherspoons and looks a tiny bit unloved but beer and coffees are fine and I can sit outside watching all the disgruntled passengers waiting for any sort of train action. Last time I had a disappointing almond croissant but I'm on a no sugar diet so serves me right.

No toilet, no coffee no food - and this was 2030 on a busy Saturday. Place needs a good clean. Complaint made to the shareholders just elicited a standard response - "we will bring this t the attention of the management". Have been before and often toilet is closed and when open it is grubby and smelly. Bar staff are usually pleasant and helpful.

As "railway taverns" go this has a nice relaxed ambience and you get the impression they have more than a few regulars. OK, so the tables need wiping, but they will happily wipe them if you ask! The barman always refers to me as "my friend" which is nice. Yes the toilet stinks but for a quick visit it's no big deal. In the era of C*sta and St*rbucks this is a nice, old-school cafe.

Oh dear, probably one to avoid. Nice location right at platforms 15-19 but the place was cold, dirty, tables not wiped, toilets were smelly and all in the place needed a really good clean. One member of staff on and hardly seemed interested in anything. With so many other places to go for a coffee I would recommend somewhere else

I wouldn't usually bother reviewing a place like this but I think I have to! This is quite possibly the most disgusting place I have ever been in the United Kingdom. I am amazed that it hasn't had the health inspectors in. The toilet is on par with those I've experienced in third world countries- it stinks of piss, has "liquid" all over the floor and is just a complete shambles. I am tempted to call the UK health board because if this is the state of the toilet I can't imagine the kitchen. Although the woman on the bar was standard, unfriendly London staff (I'd expect nothing more) the coffee wasn't bad. Unfortunately after using the 'rest room' I was really put off my beverage. I would seriously advise some higher standards as this is just unacceptable for a pub/bar/cafe in such a prime location. Hopefully it'll get brought out by Costa- at least they have standards

The Sloe Bar and Cafe is a comfortable and spacious place to enjoy a refreshment stop between your rail travel and your outing in London. It is particularly recommended if you are going to Buckingham Palace for whatever reason -- eg the Queen's Gallery, A Tour or the Changing of the Guard -- because there are very few places to have a coffee between Victoria Station and the Palace. The coffee/tea and various pastries at Sloe are good and reasonably priced. But note that the coffee comes in cardboard cups and the toilet, at time of visiting, was 'in need of refurbishment'. The woman at the serving counter was very pleasant and efficient. Particularly nice here on a cold or wet day, as it is nice and warm inside.

Stopped here for a drink whilst waiting for my train. Staff reasonably pleasant, beer ok but when I visited the toilets they we terrible. Tissues everywhere on the floor. Around the toilet the floor was wet, you guess what that is from. This is not a nice place or experience going into the toilet.Slow bar management, you should be ashamed. Please clean your act up and keep the toilets clean.

Oh dear, ok I guess a very busy place here, popped in as had an hour to waste before next meeting.9.30 in morning two people in place, loud loud music playing, is that needed at this time.Ordered a bacon sandwich and orange juice and it was ok.Staff were nice and served in a decent time, the bar looks well used for sure. Before leaving I thought best to refresh and this were the place falls apart, I genuinely couldn't believe the state of the toilets, not quite as bad as the one in the film trainspotting, but not very hygienic by any means. So in summary had I used convenience first would I have had food, no chance.Users you have been warned.

My mother and I stopped here whilst passing time before her departure home, Pros?It wasn't busy, so was able to sit at a table for a while.Hot drinks were drinkable.Cons?Dark, uninviting cafe.Very smelly toilets (which I could smell from where we were sat). No toilet paper available. I informed a member of the bar staff, but she told me as they were short-staffed... I have been to this cafe before, but after this visit? Sorry. No.

An English pub at Conrad St James and because of the hotel's themed decoration you can appreciate the politically-oriented ideas of décor. The most interesting is a set of caricatured statues of ex-prime ministers from Churchill to Blair. These are placed in a display case, while in Japan I suppose it may be made life-size in durable metal so that people can knock on the heads (with bat provided). The cost of a regular drink gives you this extra fun, if only to see, not to knock.....

What a dreadful place, only went in there to wait for our train. Ordered orange juice and they poured it from a cheap carton, didn't even try to hide the fact that we were being ripped off!!! Toilets are a disgrace and this place should be closed down.

Popped in here for two glasses of orange juice and a croissant. Amazed that the juice came from a carton of one of the cheapest brands you can buy. Only two croissants in the display and this was very average. Charged nearly £8.00 for this!! The service was fairly dismal. The worst thing however was the toilets.............. only used it as I was desperate......... the smell was vile and there was pee all over the floor. There is brown sticky sealant all round the base of the bowl and when you flush all sorts leak out the joint!! This should be closed down it is so bad.

This bar used to be called the Napoleon and was very pleasant.Under its new name it has deteriorated and I would never go there again.Dreadful and very loud intrusive music; if you sit outside to escape the music you are deafened by noise of a fan and station announcements. The toilets must be the smelliest in London. What a shame!

Have been here on a number of occasions, only due to the fact that I have time to kill before boarding a train. It's convenient to the platforms. Free wifi. Prices are what you would expect for a station. Beware of the toilets as they are possibly the worst toilets I have ever been in....disgusting. Convenience is solely why you would frequent this hostelry.

There are numerous Sloe Bars in various London terminals, although I have been in the one in Victoria, I mostly go to the one in Euston.I like going into pubs in train stations as these pubs are for travelers. You can sit and read, mind your own business, have a couple pints, even if the pub is relatively full.Although the food I've had at the Sloe Bar was okay, it was just a bit pricy for what I got. Having said that, in a train station, there are lots of sources of better and better value food (food stores, Cornish pasty, sushi, baugettes, etc.) I just want a pint or two of John Smiths.

This was a quick stop en route from Brighton at 6pm after a long day and nothing to eat since breakfast in my hotel at 8am that morning. The bar is situated on the concourse of platform 15 at Victoria Station and is quite small so was full. I placed my order after managing to find a seat and immediately received unwanted attention from a fellow drinker who was enquiring at length about what I was drinking. He made himself generally unpopular with others before eventually subsiding into a corner watching silently. Having seen one person looking uncomfortable and eventually leaving, I kept a firm eye on the situation so it was not as relaxing a visit as it could have been. The bar itself is small and pleasant, however the food did not appear and after a good 25 minutes I got up to make enquiries; I had a confusing few moments with language difficulties before the person behind the bar disappeared to make enquiries after a customer explained what I meant ( I was not placing an order I was asking where the order was). She eventually re-appeared and apologised saying her colleague was busy and it would be another 5 minutes.Fifteen minutes later the food arrived and what a surprise - I had ordered a chicken pesto flatbread with separate chips and they arrived on a wooden board. The flatbread was huge, almost bigger than the board, well prepared with lots of fresh chicken and very hot. There was so much of it that had I known I would not have ordered chips, as it was I reluctantly had to leave some of the food as I was so full.Full marks to the chef, I shall certainly return when in the vicinity in spite of the slow service.

Pleasant spot for a tea break. Great choice of teas - we wanted decaf and Earl Grey and both were lovely... and in a proper large cup and saucer. There was a good choice of cakes although we resisted the temptation.

First visit here and I have to say my blueberry muffin was the best I ever had. Proper sweet blueberrys inside. Incredible and a lovely moist muffin. I ordered a coffee but their machine had broken but the tea was fine. Plenty of it with decent crockery. Recommended for me with outdoor seating also

Looked good on the menu but in reality was awful. The veggie sausages were cold and didn't look as if they'd gone anywhere near any heat, the avocado tasted like it had only just been defrosted with hard lumps in and the other items hardly edible. The trouble is at London City Airport this is about the only place to get a cooked breakfast so they've got a captive audience.
