Kellie and Suzanne are the best people here! Suzanne opened the kitchen for me after I finished work down the road. She makes the most amazing beef chilli in Newport!! Kellie is an amazing person, and her customer service is top-notch! The live music was really good too!!

There is nothing wrong with it. It is an OK place. It was a quiet night when we went and I think if it was busier the atmosphere might be better. The food looked good and plentiful. There is good live music on some nights. The location is good for parking as the NCP is close. It is also a close walk from the train station.

Have visited quite a few times with one other friend. We like the place and the staff. It is sometimes let down by the odd customer but certainly one of the better places in Newport. Live music makes an evening here. Not eaten so can't comment on that. We will keep returning

Staff really welcoming and friendly. Food absolutely beautiful and reasonable, the chef even gave us a pot of the American salt he used on the chips as we loved it so much. Great little bar

Visited the bar last night - was approached by a woman who worked behind the bar - she asked where me and my friend had come from - we said the pub next door- she said we smelt like chip fat and sprayed us with perfume. So I suppose if you like being insulted by old women and being doused in rancid Cheryl Cole perfume then it’s great. Do yourself a favour and give it a miss

Absolutely 💯 top place. food is good , great selection of drinks , landlord , landlady, and staff are brilliant , and very engaging . Cannot reccomend this place enough . Its a great place to be yourself .

Awesome fun, live band we're rocking, seats comfy, table clean and tidy, only had 2 cokes but were greeted with smiles and servers very pleasant, highly recommended

Was sat outside under the shelter for hours last night. The atmosphere was good. Good easy listening music being played. Table service with current circumstances, mobile card readers used or cash. Cheap drinks, staff were friendly and helpful, food was really good, wpukd definitely return

Live bands, great company, nice beer...everyone's a winner

Bar was fine, but door staff were rude and abusive. Manager Sue was asked to assist, but decided to stand by and have a cigarette.

Fun audience joined in danced and sang along. No non alcoholic beer only downside as I was driving

Fab place great atmosphere friendly staff

Popped in recently had had a wonderful night, loved reading the old NME's on the walls. The seats are made out of old pallets and the vinyl on the wall was cool. We sang we danced we drank reasonably priced beers and wines. Great unexoected night. Thank you ;-)

Execellnt venue. Was there for 40th birthday. The place was very cool had awesome air con an great range of drinks. Which were priced very good. Staff were very friendly too.

Not sure what the food is like as we always end up here early hours of the morning but the rock music and live bands are awesome and the place has a nice rustic look to it

Always the place where me and my mates want to finish our night..... mainly because it's a place with a good atmosphere and generally 25 year olds plus and the music that comes with that age range.... pretty much on a par with prices of any other bar in Newport but this place is much more appealing

It was great when it was TJ's as they had a backdoor grill to serve amazing food. When they changed hands and name, it turned bad. It's still good to go when The Carpenters has closed for the night.

Good night out really busy good atmosphere

Great food, very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Vape friendly, which is a bonus. Exceptional value for money, with no skimping on quality. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten - and one one occasion the biggest. Have visited a few times with friends and I've come to rely on getting a great feed with good beer in a classic rock bar setting. Edit: been here a few more times now and had some of the most incredible burgers of my life. Really cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Great atmosphere never any trouble x

A long well earned night out with the girls went to friars walk, which was nice but i prefer to be able to enjoy myself have food, dance and have fun with people of all ages and this place ticks the boxes. Its a fab place that suits people of all ages everyone is friendly and the staff are fab too.
