Sir & Madam Thai Restaurant in Woking

Have used this restaurant over the last 25 years and always had fabulous flavourful authentic Thai dishes. Sadly something has massively gone wrong here. Ordered a Chicken Green curry and 2 Massaman curries. Green was totally tasteless. No flavour of coconut, lemon grass, kaffir leaves, galangal or coriander ALL the basic ingredients were missing. Think it was cooked with just a spoonful of green Thai curry paste and a few bean shoots were thrown in. The Lamb Massaman fared no better.! Just fried up meat with Massaman curry paste. No taste of coconut, and none of the warm spices, typical of this dish - cardamom, cinnamon, cumin to name but a few & importantly there were no peanuts. None of the traditional garnishes or any taste in either dish. Whoever cooked our food cannot possibly be a chef. Truly awful experience.

This used to be by far the best takeaway in the area but ever since it reopened after a few weeks of being shut late last year the prices went up and quality went down. Orders get lost or forgotten without explanation. I’m guessing the business has changed management and chef however they don’t seem to be listening to feedback and seem to be just looking to maximise profit at their customers expense. I can’t imagine I will order from here again after being a frequent visitor for a long time.

Wonderful food, very freshly prepared and presented with care! made my family feel very comfortable.

Went on a Saturday night. Moderately busy, fairly quiet not a lot of atmosphere. Waited 40 minutes for a very average starter. Then waited another 30 min for the mains. Main dishes were lovely. They did apologise for the good wait as apparently kitchen was very busy, however not really an excuse for a half filled restaurant on a Saturday night. 2 other tables left before they got their food. Empty dishes not cleared from tables quickly. Not terrible but wouldn't come back.

Have ordered takeaways from Sir & Madame for many years but since they’ve opened after closing for several weeks 2023 the quality of the food has gone down they use to be the best Thai restaurant food wise recently had 2 takeaways and very disappointed with both will not be ordering again. New owners/chefs?

Over 2 hours for a takeaway delivery, I used to love this little restaurant, friendly people and the food was always excellent. I'm not sure what has happened over the last few weeks but it has been closed a few times. I managed to order today but it has been over 2 hours and still no sign of food..

Flavourful food and great service, with attentive staff.

Just had a meal in here with 3 others. The service was friendly and fast, the food was well cooked and flavoured and came out in good time.

Normally I can't go wrong with Thai but the last 2 times here I have felt let down by the food. Hasn't tasted authentic. Shame because the service and staff are excellent.

Home Delivery included a salad that was off. The smell was awful as soon as opened so I have no idea how it was missed. I requested no mushrooms as I have an intolerance but all dishes contained large (obvious) mushrooms. Staff were helpful once contacted via the phone, a refund was promised however I have not received this and have had no further response from the restaurant after reaching out. Mistakes do happen but to serve food well past its best is too dangerous to ignore. After posting this a refund was promptly received

I believe this place has been open for a while and that is always a good indication that the food will be good, and it was. Would definitely go there again. Big and tasty portions.

We believe they must of changed the chefs . The last time we visited the food wasn’t bad but this time the food was over flavoured . So much fish sauce in every dish . Sliced crispy pork was very salty . Pad Thai was too sweet . I have had Thai food before but this time round Iam afraid it was too much for our taste 👅 buds

Some people may count the restaurant a bit simple or plain. I really liked this place. The friends we were with I could hear them speak not like most places these days wit constant music or singing that is too loud. The food tasted really good. I'm a bit traditional and went for a green curry. There was no problem having to search for the chicken, there was plenty. It was great to sit at a table and be able to see my food . Again I find to often you go to restaurants and you fell you need to ask for a torch(flashlight) just so you can see what you are eating. If I had a complaint I do think the price is on the high side. Saying that we went on a Wednesday and they were doing alright for sure in customers. Would I go again definitely. I had no alcohol just a soft drink.

I have ordered from Sir and Madam a couple of times and usually my experience has been good but unfortunately my most recent experience left me with chronic food poisoning. I am highly confident that this was due to the cooking and/or storage of the Thai sticky rice (bacillus cereus - which is due to cooked rice being left at room temperature too long). I hope this prompts the chefs to be more careful with their food preparation and hope for the sake of the business, and other customers, that this was just a one-off.

I recommend to try the train station fried rice with chicken. It's delicious with big portion.👍

Yet to have a bad experience, started to try different things on menu now, yellow curry and number 8 starter ribs are superb!

Suggested by our son we booked for 1 April for a party of five. What an absolute delight the staff are. We were torn on what to order for the starter so a mixed platter was suggested by the waitress (owner?) which would go five ways. It was divine. Prawn toasts, satay skewers, spring rolls and spare ribs. Perfect portion size and wolfed down by the five of us. A variety of mains - Thai noodles, Massaman curry but the Gai honey chicken was the winner (only just). With rice and some extra sides it really was a delicious meal. Huge thanks to the staff that evening, they made us feel very welcome and looked after us incredibly well. We shall be back.

Front of house staff are not Thai, which means ordering off menu or having questions is a problem. Food good, service is good and the restaurant it's self is nice.

We big ordered for a Mother’s Day takeout for 9 people and we were absolutely delighted with the quality and quantity of the dishes - pad thai, massaman curry, prawn curry and green curry all superb. Restaurant staff super helpful on collection - we will definitely do an eat-in. Thank you Sir & Madam for making our day special with your special food

Really excellent takeaway. Delicious food and really good service. Used their on line ordering system and dropped by 15 mins later to collect and it was all ready. Restaurant was very busy. We will use them again for sure.

Best Thai around, food is impeccable and utterly delicious. This is a PROPER Thai, perfectly seasoned, very flavorful sauce, exactly as it should be. Make sure you order from the West Byfleet one (the one in Old Woking is completely different and not good).

I can’t believe I’ve not yet left a review after ordering from here approximately 2816 times.. I’m going to say it and I’ve done my rounds on deliveroo / Uber eats etc. this is THE best take out I have ever had. Every single dish is full of flavour, generously sized up too, not greasy and just amazing. Every dish that I try, blows me away. I can’t recommend this place enough, along with the Woking take out site too. I will never move out of my postcode because of this restaurant..

Really disappointed after hearing such great things about this restaurant. We decided go get a take-away from here. We ordered a Thai red curry, a Katsu curry, sticky rice and starters. The food arrived tepid at best, the rice was the strangest thing I had ever seen - it was literally a congealed blob wrapped in cling film in a tub - it had clearly been microwaved but for to long as was no longer recognisable as rice - it was so bad I had to cook rice at home. The Katsu curry had hardly any sauce just lots of onion and was dry. The red curry was ok - however, the starters were dry and tasteless. So disappointed.

Had not been here for a while, but decided to give it a go last week. Really happy we went back there. The food is excellent and plentiful, the service is also very good, the ambiance and location is very good. All in all an excellent night out. We will be returning.

Excellent food first had a takeaway as my other half wanted to go to a thia restaurant for his birthday !! The takeaway did not disappoint and the birthday meal was exceptional … fantastic staff as well as the great Authentic food … and great value … the samosa to Quote “ the best he has ever had” I think we have found a new favourite restaurant !

Utterly disappointing! I don't know how this place got a good review at all. It has nothing to do with good quality or tasty food. They should fire the 'chef' who puts too much oil on everything and uses the same frying oil for a week. The food has no flavours, just the bitterness of the overused oil. It ended up in the food bin and we ate butter on toast instead. That was a way better choice.

Lovely meal! the curry's are cooked fresh and packed with the authentic Thai flavours, rice and noodles are standard but plentiful of veg. Starters are not so nice and are very bland and cheap tasting. However our delivery was quick and lovely driver, and enjoyed the meal overall 😊

We went in at about 9:00pm and there is on one dining there. The food serves very fast. The starter tiger prawn is good. I would give 4.5 out if 5. However, The chicken satay is too chunky so there is no taste inside. If they can cut the chicken satay into thinner pieces it will taste better. If they put chicken in marinade in advance they should leave the chicken in the sauce longer. For the chicken satay I would rate 3 out if 5. We ordered prawn green curry as a main, this dish is very delicious. It is not very spicy, only mild, the sauce is nice and tasty. Egg fried rice with green curry is a good combine. I would rate this one 4.5 out of 5. The price for this meal is reasonable. Overall, I would rate 4 out of 5. It’s a good dining experience.

Best Thai restaurant in Woking/West Byfleet. Such friendly and attentive service. Always seem to get the Pad thai or Drunken noodle and both never disappoint. Go after 6pm and park for free at the car park at the end of the road.

Nice food and always arrives on time, hot and delicious meal. The restaurant its a bit small but we are always happy to have a takeaway which is exactly the same taste as dine in.

No call, no apology, no replacement, NO dinner!

This is the first time I have had a takeaway from Mr & Mrs Thai. The food was delicious. Had Phad Thai, honey chicken, shared starters, was very tasty.

Food was nothing special service and and staff were nice enough. Hygiene not good and would not recommend this restaurant.

Just had takeaway from them and the meal was very lovely thank you. Prawns in the pad Thai were crunchy and fresh and for fried food they even cut off a corner of the box lid to make sure food doesn’t go wet and soft too soon. I requested fried rice to be less spicy and it was great. Had a really enjoyable meal :)

Consistently great food. I miss visiting their restaurant but very happy they deliver. Their Green Curry is the best.

Have used this restaurant before and previously very happy, but ordered food via uber eats and took so long to got cold tastless food i will never use again.

Never been disappointed by Sir & Madam. Quality of the food and the cooking has been A1 in both the restaurant and as a take-away. Great flavours and quality ingredients. Hight recommend this establishment to anybody who enjoys Thai food.

The food here is lovely never had a bad meal also good food you can’t go wrong here if you fancy Thai food.

Sadly Sir and Madam has not been able to reopen since lockdown due to the size and design of the restaurant, however they have gone out of their way to provide takeaways. Order at lunchtime for pick up or delivery in the evening. Quality of the food is as good as eating in the restaurant and the Tamarind duck is amazing.

We have eaten in the restaurant in the past, and had two takeaways since lockdown. Food is incredible. Just as good at home as in the restaurant. Our favourite Thai restaurant. Highly recommend.

Our first visit to this charming restaurant and without doubt, I'll be back. Effortless and genuine service with a very big smile from the moment we walked through the door until we left. The menu choice is amazing and the pride in presentation is first class. The food, where do I begin ? what do I choose? As food was being served to other tables I honestly kept changing my mind, the aromas transported me to the Far East. Absolutely wonderful experience, my taste buds are still tingling. This family run establishment deserve to succeed for being so delightful & filling the place with happy diners. Fab 5* evening. If you've not been .... then pick up the phone. You won't be disappointed.

The starters are excellent. However, I don't think the cuisine is original. The tom-yam tastes like an ordinary pork noodle soup.

As I wrote before I was expecting to return and we did, once in April and once in May. On both occasions the food was fantastic. Following our first visit my wife chose the Gai Honey Sauce dish both times, whilst I tried a variation of beef on one of the curry dishes. It tasted great, my only problem is that I have forgotten what it was called to allow me to order it elsewhere, if not at least for comparison. I expect to be back again sometime in the future.

Booked at the last minute for dinner last night (13th) , the staff were so accommodating and friendly. Our meal was superb, my partner had the massaman curry and raved about it, my meal was fabulous and the noodles to die for. 1st time I've been in years and i certainly wont be leaving it long before i return. Great food and lovely staff.

Fantastic genuine Thai food by Thai people

Just love this little restaurant. They really do make you feel so welcome as you come in and that continues through the meal. Myself and friends have been going here for a long time now, it never disappoints. The service is always great, and if they’re a little slower for any reason they’ll always apologise and explain (someone went home sick, a large booking etc) and it’s never anything bad, I just like that they acknowledge it. Food is delicious - I tend to always go for a chicken pad Thai, or the fried squid squid with coconut rice. Always comes out hot and seems fresh. I will return... many times!

It was my Thai wfe's first sample of a Thai restaurant in the UK and it got the thumbs up for approval and has set a high level for comparison. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our food and in particular wanting more of my chicken dish (Gai honey sauce).Service staff polite, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back, I think my mum has actually booked the table for next month.

Superb fresh food, great smile with the service

Absolutely incredible food. Thai green curry is one of my favourite meals and I was so happy with what I received. I was really impressed with the different options - with the yellow/green/red curries, you could choose what protein you wanted (beef, chicken, prawns, etc.) very versatile menu and it had something for everyone - my granny doesn't like spicy food but she had breaded chicken and really enjoyed it. my only issue was that some of the tempura starters were a bit too greasy, but that may have just been the wrong thing to order, and it was a little cramped so definitely book ahead. Spring rolls were amazing. Would definitely come again with friends or family.

I went with a group of 12 for an evening meal at Sir and Madam. We were treated to a wonderful selection of very tasty food served by very friendly and attentive staff in a lovely restaurant. I'm sure we will all be returning.

This place needs to be a lot bigger so more people can experience the great food and lovely service this place offers. Any new place I eat in I always first check the cleanliness of the toilet... which was spanking clean, so I settled down to feast and I wasn't disappointed, the green curry reminded me of my stay in Singapore, the starter rekindled lovely memories of KL, in-fact it was Asia all the way in West Byfleet .

Always excellent food here and incredibly friendly service. Small restaurant so worth booking on weekends. Try the Pla Sam Rod if you like fish. Delicious.

A wonderful Thai restaurant close to the rail station. Very small but cosy and great for small groups or couples.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant but my mum and her friend always regularly dine here and now I know why, it’s a very good restaurant, my food was delicious and the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable.

Staff are so polite, food was incredible - so fresh and spicy. The atmosphere at 7.30pm on a Wednesday night was lively. Give it a whirl.

I really enjoyed my visits to the Guildford branch of Sir and Madam until it closed recently. This branch however just isn’t in the same class. The staff are great. They made us feel welcome and are very attentive but the quality of the food was disappointing. That’s not to say it was poor (I think some of the other reviewers are being very harsh) it’s just not as good as other Thai restaurants I’ve visited. If I was in the area again I’d probably look at going somewhere else rather than back here.
