21/07/24 Just another wonderful meal treat. Today I had the yummiest Beef noodle soup, 🍲 Guay Tiew Nam, So satisfying specially on this rainy day. I love the relaxing ambiance and music. Service and food were excellent as usual, sorry I didn't have the before picture I was too excited to eat, here's the after photo 🍲😊 ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟

Sorry to say the crispy pork was squeaky and the rice came in a bag. Not much authentic Thai tastes from the dish. The use of yellow peppers instead of Thai greens and other veg were also a disappointment.

The green gang kiew wan with chicken was excellent. I would recommend ordering the prawn crackers along with it because they come with a delicious dipping sauce

Authentic Thai food, served in great quality at great prices. Excellent tom sum (papaya salad) & larb gai (minced chicken with mint & spices). Lovely fresh pints of Tiger and Singha. Enjoyed the food, service and bill!

I think this place might have changed ownership. Got my order wrong twice in a few weeks. Veg soup had chicken in it. The pad Thai very sweet and chicken of extremely poor quality that I thought it was tofu , hope quality picks up . Just disappointed.

Really great, simple spot. Authentic Thai food. High quality fresh food in a relaxed, quiet atmosphere. The staff are really lovely. Food is great and good value.

mixed starter was terrible- everything was cold and the dry chicken was bland. Very plain curry that was also cold. after waiting 1 hr 15mins it was all very disappointing!

The stir fry was really really good!

We were here only for the appetizers we got the shared platter. My husband and I felt the food was okay but just bland. The chicken skewers were cold. But the rest the wings and the spring-rolls were crispy and warm. The sauces 2 of them didn’t taste like home made sauce as it states in the menu. It tasted like its from a jar to be honest. Except for the one with nuts, it didn’t look like its from a jar. The service is excellent The atmosphere is alright but the floor is dirty and sticky.

It seems that good restaurants in the UK require reservations in advance. I was traveling unprepared and passed by this Thai restaurant. I just want to be able to eat it. Asian food shouldn't be bad either. 1. The entrance environment is dimly lit and the floor is messy and dirty. (Although the waitress takes a broom and cleans the floor from time to time. 2. From time to time, there is a musty smell from the basement where the bathroom is damp. (I really can’t imagine such a dining environment. I’m already vomiting before I even eat.) 3. I didn’t come with a group of people, I just wanted to evacuate (the people who were traveling with me had already ordered drinks, so I had no choice but to eat it) 4. Tom Yum soup (strange smelling dirty water mixed with chili oil + 🦐 and a few hard slices of squid) is not recommended 5. Papaya salad (probably the only dish I can eat) is three tablespoons less 6. Fried chicken (besides spicy, weird taste) subtle flavor 7. Thai fried rice noodles (strangely sweet and spicy), saccharine and spicy, hard to swallow. The key is that it retains the Thai seasoning smell. 8. Green curry (spicy and full of seasoning) This restaurant completely overturned all the positive impressions I had accumulated about Thailand. In the middle of the review, there was a stale toilet smell that hit my nostrils from time to time. (The negative review will be sent to you)

We ordered the veg and tofu pad Thai. We had one small tofu in both. We ordered the stir fry chicken and cashews. There was no cashew and fried chicken with raw vegetables. When we asked isn't this supposed to have cashew they sprinkled some cashew. They were not able to cope with a few tables and deliveries and the service was pathetic as well. We understand being busy but the napkins were dirty and they had no proper system in place of ordering. I would really not recommend it to anyone.

oh wow this has changed drastically, the food wasn't great for flavour and also it was lacking in quantity. for £18 order I expected more than a small portion of beef in a take away box. the food was lacking flavour and or any spice.

Beautiful food, so tasty and freshly cooked. Staff were very friendly and professional! Very reasonably priced also. My second time there and will definitely be back soon!

I and my husband were on a visit to Londonderry and on our first night, we decided to try this Thai place. We enjoy Thai food. I decided on this place after my search on Google maps but almost changed my mind because despite the good reviews, the few bad ones were really bad😩 I took a chance and thank goodness I didn't regret it. I'd have cried. We had the pineapple fried rice and the fried rice with chicken and pork. We asked for it to be very spicy. Both dishes were great. Waiter was courteous. The dishes, 4 tots of gin, two lemonade drinks and a pint of beer cost a total of £39.55. I have attached a picture of the bill in review. I really hope they fix the misses that seem to happen from time to time from what I can see in some if the reviews. I know how painful it can be when you're looking forward to a delightful meal and you are disappointed.

Used to be average and acceptable quality. Went recently and standards have dropped drastically and more expensive. What a shame

Not what it used to be at all. We ordered the monkfish and beef, paying way over the odds. The portions of meat and fish are do bad. They are a slap in the face. We ordered the mixed starter, with the monkfish and beef main dishes. Both came in the same sauce. Both were just 4 or 5 floaters of protein chunks in the soup. This used to be my favourite restaurant, but it has went to the proverbials. You don't get to raise your prices so high and not keep the same quality of food, but apparently, these guys do. Rip off

Chips were cold because it was late otherwise tasty.

Food is beautiful but every order has been late, whether we do delivery or collection. Will always say delivered in the app but nothing comes for another hour after that, very poor service.

The food was excellent when it arrived. The service left something to be desired. Unfortunately there were only two staff on covering the floor. One was managing telephone and just eat orders, they came in thick and fast. The other was trying to manage a full restaurant. She was lovely but seemed very new and struggled. We waited 2.5 hours for food and didn't get our starters. To be fair to the restaurant they didn't charge for those. It might just have been the time of year and so was busy for mid week. I wouldn't blame the staff for the service but the management not putting on more staff or supporting new staff in their role.

My order hasn’t arrived. I sent a message to just eat and they said there is a delay so I waited but still my order didn’t arrive. I tried to call “SIAM THAI DERRY” but they’re not answering. They can just tell me if the order will not arrive and they refund my money back. This is very unprofessional!!!

I placed my order at 4.30pm the description said my food would be here by 5.40pm which was fair enough only my food didn't come to 6.10pm and it was cold by the time it got to me also small potions for the price, the food tastes not to bad tho I personally wouldn't order from them again

Absolutely lovely authentic Thai food, having lived in Thailand this is the best place to eat to get that true Thai experience don't be afarid to go spicy 🥵

The food was awful, starters fish cakes, tasteless really not sure what it was. Other starter described as king prawns, filo pastry, or tempura but awful covered in heavy batter and smelly, bad. Chicken larb, nó seasoning or flavor, fatty chicken with red onion, we had ordered 2, 1 came out the other was 10 minutes later our friend had cashew nuts with vegetables she said was OK. I don't think they have a chef I think they have a lot of problems and the back area and toilet is so dark, what dirt is it hiding. Need to close, clean the place and get a chef.

Ordered take away at 5.15 didn't come till 6.45. Wrong order waited till 8.57 before they delivered the right order, food was cold , just under 4 hours for delivery and food was cold

Pre-ordered, order accepted at 19:30, rang at 20:00 was told it was out for delivery, rang again at 20:40 to be old they missed our order. Tried to get a refund, not getting refunded the delivery charge. Won't be back.

I loved everything about it, amazing service from the girl working the counter and every else was very friendly, I got the tiger cry and it was absolutely beautiful. Great selection of wine too which complemented the dish perfectly. All in all, it’s one of the only restaurants I’ve been too that I guarantee I’ll be back in all thanks to both the staff and the quality of the food, the staff I was especially impressed with

Siam Thai is a casual eatery in the old walled city. We were seated promptly, given the extensive menu and asked a minute later if we were ready to order. We ordered beers which arrived 2 minutes later, at which time we were again asked if we were ready to order. Um, no. We started with an order of vegetarian spring rolls (£ 5.5) and received three rolls. They were tasty but there was no knife to cut the third in half to share. I was disappointed with my cashew nut chicken (£ 12.5, includes jasmine rice). The chicken was deep fried and was in large chunks that had to be cut (again, no knife); carrots and onions were prominent but cashew nuts were sparse. My partner was happier with his yellow curry chicken (£ 12.5 with rice). We asked for water. The request was heard but forgotten. A second request was required. Overall, the food and service were both just okay. If I were again in Derry, I’d not return.

A taste of Thailand in this little unassuming place. The selection is fab, I certainly would recommend the veggie starter for two. All mains very reasonably priced and not over cooked

me and my Family stayed in Derry and based on the reviews we tried Siam Thai, and we were not disappointed, the food was amazing. we got red curry, green curry, Ginger and Scallion and kids Curry. the food was so fresh and a huge shout out to the Girl with the brightly coloured hair (i didn't get her name) who was serving us. she was the only waitress there and was amazing and efficient with her time. Next time I'm in Derry I will be back.

We really enjoy our meals from Siam Thai and a frequent visitors. We travel to get our takeaway and it's all worth it.

Nothing extraordinary but we found not many more options. As a tourist once it's ok, most likely I wouldn't go often as a local

This place takes an hour to give you your order when go to collect. Told we not be long but waited an hour . Told tables get prioritised even if your takeaway orders are in before these table customers. Absolute joke never ever had heard of this policy ever !! So potentially you could wait for your food for ever . Staff doctors not care and walk away when try to ask any questions. Won’t be back and neither will my extended family .

I went here for the first time at the weekend for a takeaway as I had heard so much about their food. I WILL NEVER BE BACK. THe level of service I received was unbelievable. When I placed my order I was told it would take 20 minutes as they were very busy. This I found acceptable. As I stood and waited I couldn’t help but notice that the restaurant was not that big and that most tables were already eating so I thought it shouldn’t take that long for my food to arrive. How wrong was I ! Twenty minutes passed, thirty minutes passed. I then asked the server it would be much longer. I was told it would be a few more minutes. In that time 3 groups arrived and sat at tables. After a further 10 minutes (40 minutes had now passed) these tables started to have their food served. I called the server again and brought to her attention that those tables arrived after me and they were already getting their food. To my horror and disbelief I was told that the chef gives priority to tables before takeaways. I have never experienced or heard of this before. I was in disbelief. It was then that I notice there was an American couple sitting waiting for their takeaway too and had a number of empty pint glasses in front of them which I took to be a measure of how long they had been waiting too. During that time another customer had arrived and was also waving a long time. He had ordered on their app which told him it would be ready in 15 minutes. He had now been waiting a considerable length of time and was also getting frustrated. In the end up it took 1 hour before I was served. I was about to cancel my order when it arrived. There was not one word of apology. In fact the staff were so unprofessional. They looked as if they were trapped in headlights. When I was ending with them they just looked back unresponsive looking into the near distance . As I received my order the other gentleman was in the process of trying to cancel his and get his money back as he wasn’t prepared to wait any longer. When I got home to eat the food I was so disappointed as the food was cold and very very average. I will never be back. As a side issue I also noticed the stench of sewage as I stood at the counter as mentioned by a previous contributor

Had to be reminded twice about a dessert

We had a take away so possibly that's why our experience was so different to so many reviews here but I thought it was the worst Thai food I've ever had. As someone else pointed out could make it better yourself.

Spring rolls were completely burnt, even tasted burnt on the inside too, they were black all round. Not sure who packed them up and thought it was OK. Too expensive for that to happen, won't be ordering again

I happened by chance on this place while looking for somewhere to eat dinner on a short stay in Derry. Lucky me. I had a lovely vegetable stir-fry with oyster sauce and plain rice. It just hit the spot. A lovely girl served me, she was warm, friendly and welcoming. They are closed on Tuesdays. I would go back there every day if I was not leaving tomorrow.

Siam Thai is one of my favorite places to eat the Tom Kha and Pad See Aew are my favorites to get, never disappointed! Also much healthier which I also love. Amazing

Unfortunately one of our meals had pork instead of chicken and we didn’t realise until we got home and plated the food, because we collected the food we were refused a refund for the incorrect meal because apparently it was our responsibility to check the order before leaving. The chicken meal was beautiful but the pork went in the bin.

No rice in bag when collected, som tum salad was much smaller than usual, about a small tea cup in amount. Tom kha gai was good, sticky rice was more claggy and starchy than the usual sticky rice. Was not worth the money paid.

Well were will I start i order all the time the same thing. And we r good customer s.. sent the wrong order so I rang..told me they would b straight up as my order was in the car and give back the wrong order.. well lefted me waiting another 45min.. so I rang again . Then was told that the chef has cook the rigth thing.. clearly if I get it all the time.. disgrace will never b ordering again..

Mother and daughter pre theatre dinner we were greeted warmley by the most pleasant waitress ( A Derry Girl ) I'm so sorry I've forgotten your name We were looked after so well choosing from the menu and during our meal We had a mutual interest in Thai food and the country which we have family connection with and visited many times We shared a starter of vegetable spring rolls followed by my choice of Duck and my daughters Thai vegetable Curry Our waitress consulted the chef as she is Vegan and he came to the table to discuss her choice with her The vegetables and flavours were amazing We cleaned the plates said good to to our waitress and wished her well on her first trip to Thailand Definitely will go again

Pros: the food was really tasty, reasonable and good portions. Cons: service was poor. Our waitress was clueless and/or didn’t care. Quite a few menu items unavailable. And we were lucky? Enough to get the last glass of white wine. There is also a bad smell, but you get used to it after 5 minutes and we weren’t too bothered.

The waitress made some great recommendations, and was so friendly. The food was excellent, I can't fault it at all. So tasty so spicy. Highly recommended.

Nice quiet Thai place in the centre of Derry.

Booked this restaurant for a family event. When we entered we were hit with a strong smell of sewage . The lady who met us at the door beckoned us to the back of the restaurant saying there was no smell there however it was still awful . When my son asked what it was she turned very nasty and bluntly said get out. We could do nothing but laugh. This was the worst I’ve ever been treated in a restaurant . There is definitely wrong here the local council needs to visit. How could anyone eat here? I have given it 1 star as there was no option for minus. Stay away.

Loved their green thai curry! Staff were really nice and friendly. The Thai milk tea was nice but, in my opinion, will be perfect without the whipped cream. I couldn’t get enough of it that I ordered another glass! Haha! There should be an option where you can buy a large glass of it; or even better: a jug to share it with the family/friends!

Amazing food, will order again!

I love it here. The food is always outstanding, fresh and full of flavour. It always has fantastic service and has Singha beer on draft (no where else in derry has this). It’s very well priced and we have never been left disappointed. Cannot recommend enough if you are looking for authentic Thai food. Get the Som Tam salad as a side, it’s amazing!

Really good Thai restaurant in the city centre. The menu is extensive but not too much with traditional dishes. Very friendly service.

Always very tasty, very well made food with great ingredients. Obviously the restaurant find deliveries really difficult. There are a lot of historic and recent reviews complaining about delivery times. Clearly this hasn’t been fixed. It doesn’t matter how good the food is, if the service isn’t there, the effort and talent of the kitchen staff is completely wasted and customers will be lost.

App said enjoy your food as if it had been delivered, when i posted to app it was late they said it would be another 30 mins. Ordered at 6.35pm....estimated time of arrival 7.45pm to 8.05pm....re estimate when I straight away posted late was 8.35pm, food arrived really cold at 8.42pm. 2 x rice missing. Could not get through to restaurant as number provided is not recognised. Found another number but no answer. This was a birthday meal so I am very very dissappointed!!

I've tried everywhere in the town and siam thai is the one place I keep going back to again and again. The food is always delicious. Personal favourites are spicy rice and phad Thai. You can't go wrong with any dish. Pyai makes the best food!
