In the years we have used this restaurant, this is the first time I was disappointed with meal. & I’m talking 28-30 years. I ordered veg in a tikka masala sauce, what arrived was rather pathetic to be honest.. I literally got 1 tiny slice of potato, 3 slices of carrot… not enough to make 1 small carrot. & I found the tiniest 1 broccoli floret near the end.. so basically my meal was all peas & green beans… glad I ordered mushroom pilau ( was more veg in that).For what I paid I expected more variety

Popadums were soft. Unusual. Cmon guys, don’t let the quality slip.

The food was average, cold and the naan was burnt and chewy. This was ordered on a Thursday night and would expect a lot better. It took over an hour and 40 mins to arrive and wasn’t even worth the wait. I actually had to watch my teeth when I was eating the naan it was that over cooked, it was pretty tasteless too. Won’t be back- there’s loads of better restaurants in the area.

My food was late and when it arrived it was cold. The Bombay potatoes were brick hard, I was very disappointed with the whole experience.

Absolutely fantastic food and service love this restaurant and have been going for years oh and the peshwari nan is fantastic. Staff are so friendly and deliver a world class standard thank you for this wonderful longstanding restaurant in this town

Took over two hours to get my delivery. Chicken tikka masala was mediocre at best, not very much flavour in the sauce.

Order was three hours late and food cold. Called restaurant and said food was on way then had to call again an hour later if I had been told the truth I would’ve cancelled my order.

So this week we order our usual Friday night order and today we are disappointed. There was NO salad for the second week in a row which I was disappointed in because it's the perfect balance to have with the meal. Why advertise that meals come with salad when you dont bother to put salad in the bag. The lamb was extremely dry which is quite common and the peshweri naan was bland and thin. The rest of the meal was to your usual high standards which was class.

£8 for a KP puree, 2&1/2 prawns that surely weren't King. My £180 from yourselves last week, came faster than tonight.

We regularly order from Shish mahal - the food is always delicious and the Chicken tikka masala is the best I have had. Service always reliable and friendly . I have dietary requirements and I know they cater well for these. Hanan is very helpful when taking the order .

Lovely food, great value, especially the thalli! The staff are very nice. We go here all the time.

Chicken Passanda was not passanda at all and was not nice. Tikka masala was ok. Chicken pakora dry. Veg pakora good. Rice and naan nice.

I specifically asked no coriander as it makes me gag... and I got coriander grrrrrrrr

We visited on a Wednesday night. Group of 3 for our dinner. We were for the majority of our seating the only guests present. Food ordered and the first course of poppadom and pickles. These were well received and did not last very long. Main courses were quick to be turned around. Each was consumed as expected and wiped up with the naan. We skipped dessert, opting for Luca's across the street. Atmosphere wise. We were the only guests. This made the space a little odd, but we made do with it and continued as required.

Decided on collection and the time scale was 25minutes and had to wait over 30 minutes to get my food and there were also a lot of others in the restaurant having to wait in theirs as well. We didn’t even get our full order

My order arrived nearly 2 hours after ordering food was stone cold . They refused to cancel my order or give my money back . Called the restaurant they said owww we were busy and not enough staff on …. I’ve eaten here 3 times in the past month and the third time has put me off due to the lateness, attitude and cold inedible food . I think I’ll be giving this restaurants miss from now on .. I’d advise you do the same

Can't comment on atmosphere, we ordered a take-away. The prices have rocketed. Understandable with increases in the cost of products. However, the curry was 'ok'. The poppadoms were inedible. They were stale. They were so off they could be folded without breaking. At a pound each it shouldn't be to hard to cook fresh even with rising food costs. The service was awful. The online said it would take an hour. An hour in and it was tracking as still cooking. After 1hr 10 mins I called. I got a 'its on its way' phone down. The person barely registered the address I said before putting the phone down. Being pleasant costs nothing. We have been customers of shish mahal for over 20 years. I dont know what has happened to it but it looks like new ownership has ruined it. The owners before has so much pride in it and were so polite. We will be ordering elsewhere in future. This was a Thursday evening. Not a busy time.

Order was obviously forgotten, when scheduled delivery time passed informed food had not arrived. New schedule then missed, 2 hrs after order food showed up. Did not accept food as two hours since order so can not comment on food.

We ordered a carry out for 4 people tonight over the phone for collection. Definitely the best Indian food I've had so far in East Lothian & I'd definitely go back again. Generous portions, absolutely delicious & ready for pickup when we arrived. Happy to recommend.

I would not recommend it for Asian people as we ordered some and we got something different. It seems like a random guy in kitchen mixing everything together and sends out to serve. Apart from chapati nothing looked, smelled or tasted asian. We ordered Lahori karahi and got it with lots of vegetables in it. Who does that with Karahi bro? This is without a doubt the best Indian in Scotland, I've lived here 5 years and this has been my absolute gem many times, food never disappoints, delivery service is fantastic and always on time with a smile, you cannot beat this place. Ignore the absolute wet wipes leaving low star reviews, theyve got the culinary taste buds of a bulldog with covid, this place is top tier and is a must have if in Musselburgh.

I am extremely disappointed in my order today. I normally order every single Friday with usually high standards. However the past two orders have been shocking. The sad thing is the quality of the food is excellent but has arrived late. They have both taken almost 2 hours from placing the order. Due to this inflated waiting time the food has arrived inedibley cold. Putting it in the oven for 10 mins sorted the problem but realistically I shouldn't have to so. I hope they improve this next week.

Had to wait a lonnng time for collection (way over the estimated time!) as they were too busy serving the people they had seated in the restaurant before the online orders. Was waiting in ‘chips’ but they were actually cold when we got them home. When I first arrived, I asked how long it would be and the person serving said ‘not long’ however, not long turned into 1 hour+. I had to ask 4 times regarding my order and each time I was told ‘it won’t be long’.

They are more interested in there takeaways .over priced wine ,yellow tail £8 a bottle to buy in a store they charge £24.99..bloody rogues..certainly will NEVER GO BACK....

Great food as always and delivery was piping hot even though the driver had a good distance to travel.

The food arrived hot and was delicious but having to wait an hour and a half for delivery is ridiculous! I was originally quoted 50 mins delivery but as soon as my payment went through it changed to an hour and a half. The place is less than a mile from me!

Not impressed at all with the service this evening. Called the restaurant when my order was an hour late to be told they had delivered to the wrong address and my order was now on the way. 30 minutes later, it still hadn't arrived and I had to chase it up again. When it eventually did arrive, it was barely warm.

Love their food but the delivery was 50 mins late! I phoned the mobile number on Just eat but got an answering service. I then phoned the number on their website and the gentleman said he would get back to me as the order was on its way, he didn't, the restaurant is only 5 mins from our house and 10 mins later I phoned again and they assured me it was on its way. 10 mins later it arrived. With an Xmas card!!! Thank you very much - better delivery would have been more acceptable, Please!

On time lovely food however the driver had a problem with change i was meant to get 4.50 back i said to the driver just give me 3 but blamed the (Indians) being very tight with money and everything contactless and asked me if I was sure I didn't have 50p to round it off 2 or 3 times then said he only had 2 pound so I said just give me that as I wanted my dinner but definitely need to sort change out for drivers if thats the hassle shop accepts cash then appropriate float should be prepared for the driver

2 1/2 hours for delivery from order! If you are planning dinner at lunchtime this is the place to order from. Asked for a discount due to the order arriving after my kids bedtime - got none. Papadum is £1 per 1 papadum!!! I won’t be ordering again.

Dry chicken, and pakora batter wasn't very flavourful. Garlic mushrooms were super good, very good portion side, loved them, and very fresh salad.

Half a dish of rice, not sure where the rest is? Pakora cold, chips warm. Curry’s warm also. Had went downhill massively and won’t be back.

Not good food. Barely edible curry and expensive. The place was empty and for good reason. Naan bread double the price of other restaurants.my trip advice is to dodge this place as the curry tastes like it came from an uncle bens jar. Not good food.should have went elsewhere.

Charged more than menu prices, i understand if prices have gone up but if your menu online and in person menus don't reflect this then you cant charge extra verbally. Assis. Manager apologised after i spoke to him but it really just ruined the whole experience. Dissapointed because i did enjoy the peshwari naan.
