Very disappointing chips. Seems like they've been reheated several times. Not that cheap either! Salt shaker blocked. Sausage ok tho.

Popped into west bay for a walk. Found this little gem, lovely fish and chips well worth a try

I’m sorry the fish batter was too greasy and fell straight off the fish. The nuggets and chips were the last batch and were overdone. The quality of fish was good, but it was the oiliness of the batter which was off putting. The food was piping hot and filled a hole on a very cold day. Polite staff, but maybe re think the pricing considering the quality.

Worst fish and chips we have ever had the chips were disgusting and the fish we could not tell what kind of fish it was it was so bad. When we got home we both had bad stomachs.

Don’t usually leave google reviews but felt like this was needed unfortunately. Visited recently and unfortunately watched one of the staff members feeding the birds cheese from her hands at the side of the hut. She then proceeded to return inside the hut and started cooking/ using utensils without washing her hands. Really poor hygiene for a place that shows off a 5 star hygiene rating. Needless to say our order went straight in the bin.

Was the best fish and chips we have had in ages. The lady was lovely, place looked clean and we sat on their table watching the boats.

Unfortunately choose this place to eat today. The chips and fish was over fried and the fish tasted of Amonnia, which is a sign that fish has kept for too long.

Brilliant fish and chips all really fresh and cooked to order and a fish and chip shop that knows how to cook chips. Also a brilliant portion size too. Got to be the best chippy in west bay would be hard to beat. My new go to place when down here for fish and chips. The service was excellent too.

Delicious fresh battered fish and hand cut chips. Wee extra tub of curry sauce hit the spot. Best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Big whippy ice cream as well. Go on your know you want to! Freshly made and reasonable prices, staff very friendly.

I wouldn’t usually review a fish and chip shop but we had the best large fish and chips ever here! Extremely fresh fish, the batter was so light and crispy - it was delicious. Fresh chips as well and a massive portion. My boyfriend and I shared. We came down from London and will definitely be stopping by for fish and chips again :)

Lovely freshly cut chips, friendly staff, was in a rush so was perfect to grab and go actually couldn't eat it all was soooo filling 😍

Me and my partner went down for fish and chips and it was amazing! Proper fish and chip shop chips. The fish was nice meaty and a lovely crispy batter. Partner had the captains burger and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Good portion sizes and friendly staff members. Will definitely be back for more

I come down to this kiosk a few times a year I always buy my food from these guys as it's the best 1 on the harbour always large size dinner's served by friendly staff that will go out of there way for you even if it's not on the menu they will cook it for you. The fish is AMAZING the chips are the best 1s Ive had. And to be fair you never have to wait long for food when there busy. BUT TO BE FAIR ALL THE FOOD AND DRINKS ARE REASONABLY PRICED............ P.S SEE YOU GUYS NEXT YEAR...

Amazing fish and chips. The curry sauce is to die for!

The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, they should not be allowed to serve such terrible food to the public, I wouldn’t feed it to a dog!! Food was cooked in really dirty oil and that was all you could taste, the fish was batter was rock hard and greasy to the point where it was dripping off, the chips were awful also cooked in really dirty oil and the fish was at least a week old! Situated on the sea front you expect fresh and tasty! Not minging!!! I threw it away and went to another place. I have given 1 star only because I’m forced to , to be able to post this

This is without doubt, the best place for a great meal!! Excellent 💯 service and very friendly and helpful staff! I was in Westbay for a weeks holiday, went to the ships galley every night! It got so routine that the staff knew what I wanted as soon as I arrived! Ships galley is the best place in the southwest foe jacket potatoes and I was having 2 at a time! Loved them!

Stopped for some chips and curry sauce, very nice.

With so much competition in the area it’s hard to choose where to get food from. Luckily we came here and had some great chips and sausages with a side of curry sauce! The food was cooked just right and it only took them a few minutes to be ready. The curry was was extremely nice as well! Staff were friendly and worked through the big queue outside quickly. We would definitely come here next time we’re here!

Absolutely amazing service and top quality food. Me and my husband came to West Bay for the first time and stopped of at (ships galley) . The food was Delicious, service was top notch . My husband had Fish and Chips and said it's the best fish he's had by far . I had a portion of chips with Irish Curry sauce. Definitely worth a visit again soon. Thank you. 😊

I had fish chips and mushy peas from the ships galley. My meal was delicious, and the chips were probably some of the best chip shop chips I have ever tasted. The fish and peas were also top quality. I can highly recommend the fish and chips from this shop.

Had Large Fish & Chips (maybe should have had just regular) and Double Cheeseburger & Chips plenty of food and all cooked well chips were just right and fish was freshly cooked in crispy batter. Wife said burger was really good. Our dog Maddie also enjoyed the large sausage .

Best fish and chips in West Bay. Continued to go back the whole week we stayed. The chips always had a nice crunch and never soggy. My veggie burger was delicious too and i really liked the bread roll it came in.

First night of the holidays and a fish n chips fix was needed. Chose this place purely because it had a queue so thought the food must be good... It was! Huge piece of fish, good portion of (as advertised) proper cut chips. The fish was perfectly cooked and full of flavour the chips were spot on too. Few days later we did it again 😋

Asked for a cheesy chips and a seperate jumbo sausage. They popped the sausage on the cheesy chips so I asked for an extra box for the sausage. Heard the woman in the back being rude about it and the girl that served us was very rude also. Lots of food huts in West bay. Will never buy from here again.

After a disappointing burger from an adjoining booth, I thought I'd get a hot dog to get the awful taste out of my mouth. It's very difficult to screw up a hot dog, it's just bread and a frankfurter, and yet there i was eating something that tasted like cardboard with the coloration of the meat resembling recycled paper.

Excellent sized portions with gluten free options too. If you are ever passing West Bay and hungry, Ships Galley is worth the small diversion off the the main Bridport road.

Never leave reviews, but just so disappointed with the quality of the cod and chips, especially with being located right near to fish market. Either really old cod or frozen but just not very nice at all. The batter and the chips not tasting very nice either, must be old oil. I would avoid here if you like your food to taste good. My partners cheesy chips, cheese was burnt so not good either. I would go as far to say, worst fish and chips I've ever had and I've had many.

Good value and quick service. Small kitchen but seemed like they were working in unison to get all the orders out. Top work

Had fish and chips and chicken nuggets and chips it was the worst we have ever had from anywhere the chips weren't all cooked the chicken nuggets tasted weird and the cod was really fishy which it shouldn't taste fishy if it does it means its not fresh we ended up put most of it in the bin what a waste of money £8.80 for cod and chips £5 for chicken nuggets and chips

Was pleased to hear they could do gluten free fish and chips. The lady failed to tell me this meant a thin piece of white fish (no batter) on top of chips. Horrible! Waste of money, I was really disappointed. Many fish and chip shops have gluten free batter and that's what I was expecting.

Got robbed! The worst fish and chips I have ever had! Kids portion for adults prices and chips had been heated back up several times by the taste of it. The other half did eat her jacket potato though.

Super busy but the staff were amazing, friendly and super speedy trying to get dinner to everyone! The cod and chips absolutely hit the spot and portion was great!!! 🙏🏼

I’ve never seen so many fish and chip shops in such a small area as West Bay. It would take forever to try them all out but we started at Ships Gallery. We had seen people collect their food and it looks tasty. The price was very reasonable so we made our order. They have a couple of tables at the side and it wasn’t very long before our food was ready. £7.80 for Fish & Chips and a decent size portion it was. £4.30 for Battered Sausage & Chips and £1.50 for Curry Sauce, all fair prices. The curry sauce did look a bit thick and lumpy but it tasted a lot better than it looked and it was quite a large tub. The girl that served us was friendly, and there was a good selection of free sauces in bottles as well as the obvious salt and vinegar. I would definitely recommend and eat there again.

Not what I'd call Jacket potato with Cheese and Beans, you can count the number of beans on one hand.... 👎 £4.90 for this gets the thumbs down from me...

Worst fish and chips I’ve had in my life. Chips were like McCain oven chips not like proper chippy chips and scampi wasn’t fresh at all.

Queued for 15 minutes to be told there was a 50 minute wait for anything fried (eg fish and chips). For some reason they hadn’t thought to let the twenty people queueing know this, even though the majority of them were probably queuing for fish and chips. They were suggesting people buy their burgers instead, so presumably neglecting to tell people in hopes of driving up burger sales

Super friendly people, serving freshly fried food. I enjoyed every second there. Fries were very nicely fried. I loved it!

Very expensive for the child size portion but guess that's just typical of the location. People in front of us were given proper wooden cutlery to eat with but upon us asking for some we were told to use the little wooden fork... Not sure why all customers couldn't be treated equally.

There's a few fish and chip stalls in this area, but we were recommended this one. Good honest, traditional fish and chips by the sea. I had whitebait and chips, which was good value and the white bait tasted very fresh. There was a queue, which is always a good sign, but everything was cooked within about 5 minutes if ordering.
