Asalamualaykum, peace be upon you all. I really enjoy the chicken donner and tikka donner which is amazing. The quality is always spot on, hot, fresh and some of the best naan I have ever had. Love the service and most of all amazing quality food. You get what you pay for. In times of austerity, great to have a place that really values quality at a good price.

This was very disappointing and overally priced considering the portion size. I have had this before in Bradford and it wasn't that bad, but this was just about serviceable. The "fish donner" was very misleading as its just your basic masala fish and the over all chicken and lamb donner was just okay. Nothing special however the lamb was good but portions are over all for each item was TINY. After the food I had felt regret on how much I spent as it went to waste. Would not recommend to anyone.

not feeling great about writing a bad food review but it has to be done on this occasion because the food is absolutely subpar. way too expensive for the quality of food and the portion sizes. Absolute rip off im actually amazed how this is a popular place in oldham with all the food spots available. was an absolute rubbish experience. on the plus side the workers seemed friendly. examples of my experience from my first and last time at shimlas; the mayo sauce tasted like it had been mixed with water and it had no taste im not sure how, the other sauces were better in taste but still not decent enough. ordered naga wings with chips came and tasted all sour. ordered something called fish donner which was just a masala fish which was very misleading even after speaking to a worker about it. ordered lamb tikka and chips that wasnt good at all, no taste just endless chewing.

My girlfriend and I visited for dinner one evening. The food was great, although more spicy than expected - still absolutely delicious. It was well priced and good sized portions. The service could have been better, but I think it was just coming to closing time so the staff had other things to do - and we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. Overall great quality food, and would be happy to give it a shot again sometime to compare.

A friend and I visited after seeing their reviews and pictures on Instagram as well as some recommendations. I’ll start with the only positive thing I can remember about this unforgettable experience (for all the wrong reasons), the decor and interior was to a high standard. The food fell extremely short of our expectations as we had heard good things about the place. The cheesy chicken donner stir fry looked like it had been fermenting for a week and was warmed up upon request. An unappetising concoction of congealed inedible food. The whole portion was just one giant blob, it made no sense. We left still feeling hungry as we’d barely touched anything (other than the chips). The service left a lot to be desired and there seemed to only be two young girls left to tend to approximately 7 or 8 tables so the service was very slow indeed. While I had nice things to say about the decor, the temperature inside was comparable to the outside (we visited late Feb) as the AC was blasting out cold air constantly. We begrudgingly paid our £27 and left to find another place to eat. The Google reviews and other social media posts have positive things to say but unfortunately on my visit and with what I had I cannot agree with them.

We really enjoy visiting Shimlas. When you want to enjoy a cosy wholesome meal this is the place. On this occasion we visited during Ramadan. The service is usually very much on point but maybe due to time sensitivity the staff were a little pushed this time. However we had to keep calling them to initially place the order and then for individual bits like plates etc. But as I said could be because it was near iftari time. Starters were served after mains..again going to give benefit of doubt. We wanted to order another jug of lassi..I think they didn't have it. Flavours of mocktails were out of stock.. The food is amazing and that's why we keep coming back. Ambience has a little more to be desired. Decor is nice but really if food was not as good there is no other reason to go back again.

My experience with shimla's was overall very disappointing, I would have never stepped foot in that place if I had known they can't protect their most venerable staff members, What kind of place allows rowdy customers to verbally and physically abuse there staff and warrant them to be correct. Only because they claim to have personal relations with the owners.

Terrible food, ive been in many restaurants but never had worse food than here, the only nice thing is the place

Came here on mother's day. Just 1 staff to take orders, stale popadums and loads of stuff no available on menu. Usually love this place. It's mother's day they should have expected it to be slightly busy.

Everything I ordered was over cooked especially the meat lovers dish which was like eating rubber. Even the chicken was overcooked but not as bad as the lamb. When I complained the staff said it was not lamb but goat. Didn't say that in the menu, definitely not going there again.

Oldham’s Shimlas spicy meat/mutton biryani was wonderful. Good level of spice, very flavourful dish. And also recommend the lamb balti. Good serving and very tender meat. The service is good but wait times are on the longer side.

really nice atmosphere, went twice this week. 1st vist was in the evening and food was awesome, 2nd trip was in the afternoon and the food wasn't as good compared to the other but it wasnt bad either, kids really enjoyed it

I absolutely love this place. Food is top notch. From curries to kebabs they are all brilliant. Had a mixed grill on Sunday and it was amazing. Expect a wait because they cook to order.

Chicken tikka and naan. Mayo is house made I believe but just tasted like cream. Nice and friendly staff. Food tasty and Dynamite chicken looked dry however tasted great 👍🏽.

As for shimlas standard this was not good enough. I have been to the branch in Bradford, has been a while, however went to the Oldham one after a long time and have to say was very disappointed. The lamb chops are fsmour and that's what I go for, but this time they was poor, not enough meat on them, they tasted chewy, and was Luke warm, got the meat curry, which was bland and cold. Not good enough shimlas. Will be staying away from this for a while

The worst place we have ever been to Ordered paneer karahi mutter paneer and daal with garlic naans 1st we had to wait for 1 hour for the order and then they bring the wrong salan out by the time they bring the right food the naans were cold and nobody cared about it. This is 2nd time we had this experience there. Totally waste of money most of us didnt even eat the food and came back.

I ordered food for delivery, it was expected tô come after 45minitues, However after 40mins they canceled my order! Very poor from shimlas. Id never order from here again!

Alhamdulillah the Lamb Karahi with roti was on point 👌. The chicken dynamite was nice, chips were nice and crunchy, naans were fresh, chicken pakoras were nice and crunchy too and portion nice I felt were reasonable. Quality over quantity. The sister serving was very attentive Alhamdulillah. All in all this place has tasty food, lamb karahi simply finger licking good and one of the best I’ve had so Jazakumullah Khayr for your beautiful food and service.

Oh my days, the wait felt like forever, took over 25 minutes for it to come to the table, it wasn't even busy just 3tables.. otherwise food was very nice, authentic and a delight particularly the starter's, beautiful king prawn, delicious mix grill and the chicken nambalay melted in your mouth..👌 pillau rice 🍚 was so so, very average and the Karahi wasn't too bad.. overall very nice, just need to step up here and there with speed especially!!

Quiet disappointed with this branch, I have been to the Bradford branch and the portion size is bigger alot more meat however this oldham branch I order the same ans got less meat but most disappointed in the famous mayonnaise shimlas is known for, the oldham branch mayo tastes diluted and nothing like the bradford one.....what's going on there????

I have been eating in Shimals since the original days in Bradford. The pricing is always fair and more importantly, they food is cooked with love. They are slow to cook in Oldham, rest assured, it's because they are cooking the good wholesome food - worth the wait. The blue drinks, the Irn Bru classic glass bottles, the garlic sauce (I recommend asking for takeout style when dining in for the chicken donner as everything is layered nicely), the spicey red sauce.. prawns, lamb karai.. the mango lassi. If you bring your boys for a nice food evening to Oldham, skip the usual fried chicken spots and hit Shimals. Same applies if your bringing family, they have salah room downstairs too.

Went first time, food was lovely, place was lovely and and clean, service was brilliant. We parked in spindles car park and it is first 4 hrs free parking on a Sunday and a little walk from there. Prices were very reasonable and will definitely be a regular now. 5* 👍

Very nice restaurant. Good decor and nice booth with high seats that give it a private feel. Service staff were nice friendly and efficient. Food came quickly. And staff constantly asking after us also. Very nice prayer room downstairs. Food portions were quite small. We initially only had a mutton handi and chicken karahi but immediately ordered a keema karahi also when we saw how small portions were. The mutton handi was lacking in taste and the meat was tough. The chicken karahi was nice as was the keema karahi. We also had a chicken biryani which had an overpowering taste of peppercorn. Dynamite chicken bites were probably my favourite dish. Fish pakora were juicy but the batter lacked the spice and crunch. Overall quite overpriced for small portions, drinks also expensive.

Been here twice now and love the flavours they have. It is on a busy road with limited parking behind the restaurant but there are a few parking spots not too far away. You must remember, if you park behind the restaurant, you have to provide your vehicles registration number otherwise you'll get a fine However, the restaurant is walking distance from the town centre. The restaurant looks very nice and clean 10/10 and you can tell they take care of the place. Both times we went was lunch time but it seems like it's always busy. They have many options on the menu and the lamb chops take about 20-25 minutes to cook so best to order them as soon as you sit down if you want them. They are delicious and worth the try. However, what we ordered the second time, didn't take long to arrive and took about 15 minutes. The service was great, they are always smiling and happy to help, assist and answer questions. The food had a mix of flavours and although we were quickly full, we could not resist the delicious food and had to finish everything by only giving back the plate empty. Recommend you try the dynamite prawns. Prices are a little higher than some other places but worth it if you want quality, that little extra is worth it. Will definitely be going back Again and can recommend. Might even try a take away soon too. Great place, great service and great food. Perfect!

Booked for 33 people for my nephews 18th birthday. Staff were pleasant and food was very good, tasty, hot and fresh. Service could have been slightly quicker as noone took our order for quite a while and we had to ask for someone to come over. Seating wasn't the best for a large group booking but we all had a great night and walked away full and happy! Thanks Shimla team 😀

Great food, amazing service and good atmosphere. Food was tasty and different. Young lady who served us accommodated for 11 of us and was very attentive. Highly recommended. The only thing I could say is that the food portions were a little small but other than that it was a good experience.
