I recently had the pleasure of spending two nights at this wonderful hotel. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff who made me feel right at home. The hospitality was truly exceptional. I stayed in a room with my family and it was spacious and had a nice large bathroom. The food and drinks were another highlight of my stay. The hotel’s restaurant offered a variety of Nepali and Indian dishes all of which were delicious. It also had a bar for drinking. The hotel’s location is perfect for tourists. It’s close to some of Edinburgh’s most famous attractions, including the iconic Forth Bridge, The Kelpies and the historic Edinburgh Castle. Additionally, it’s conveniently located near a golf course, which is great for visit as it’s owned by the formed President of US. Overall, my stay was incredibly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh. The combination of great food, friendly staff, and a prime location makes it an excellent choice for travelers.

We are new in near kirkcaldy have tried a few indian restaurants the taste was great but the service was unbelievable. They accidently gave me a different dish to what I had ordered. Not only did they deliver the correct food and gave me extra chicken pakoras and poppadum, you don't see this kind of service anymore. I was so thankful and was so surprised.

Stayed for work. Great service from all the staff. Rooms basic, but clean and comfortable. Could do with a suitcase stand and a relaxing chair, but functional nonetheless. The food in the restaurant is beautiful. Great service and at a good price point. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

The most amazing meal, let alone curry, I've had

HUGE FRAUD. Prices arent what they said in their menu. We didnt order poppadom neither pickle tray and they charge us for them. 4 pounds per a small bowl of rice? Are you kidding me? This was supposed to be included with the tikka masala dont go there, it's a total scam.

If you want delicious food and fantastic service, this is the place to eat! This restaurant has it all, we would recommend and return. The staff is very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Be sure to enjoy the papadum and mixed pickle veggies! Thank you for the great dinner experience

This is a must. Shimla is an exceptional restaurant. The food is divine, service is spot on and all at a reasonable price. We over ordered as usual but it's all packed up to come home. I love the hot lemon hand wipes at the end. Also it was my parents anniversary, and they brought them (us) delicious cake, and a gift voucher. Incredibly thoughtful. Do yourself a favour and try this either in the restaurant or as a take-away!!

This is a fantastic Nepalese and Indian restaurant in the Coaltown of Wemyss. The food was amazing, with decent portions and great value. We will definitely be back. The staff were attentive and very friendly and when they found out itcwas our friends birthday , they pulled out all the stops to make itcextra special for her.

Our first visit to Shimla and was not disappointed. We had an excellent meal and the service was first class and wheelchair accessible too. We will be back.

The best restaurant in Fife by far! Food was sooooo tasty and lamb just perfect! Nan bread obviously made in house which was delicate and delicious. Service spot on. Real linen napkins. Cosy and friendly atmosphere. Hot lemon wipes to complete the dining experience..Will definitely be back!

Shimla had wonderful food and excellent service. If you’re ever passing though Coaltown, this is a must.

First visit after hearing about the restaurant from friends. They weren't wrong, food, service and surroundings very good indeed. We'll be back... soon! Edit: We did, indeed, come back, on a Wednesday early evening and were pleasantly surprised to see the place busy. Service was still excellent, the guys get the balance right between attentiveness and giving you space. I can thoroughly recommend the Everest beer, delicious! Good food, well cooked, lovely. Edit again: We've now been about a dozen times and have never been disappointed. The food maintains a high level of consistency and quality. The place is warm and welcoming as are the staff. I cannot fault it.

Amazing. Best food in the area. Fresh, reasonably priced and great service and respect given to their customers at all times as soon as you enter the premises. Had a few orders now but tonight’s meal was a solid 10/10 so happy to give it five stars. As long as the standard is consistent like this evening won’t go anywhere else in the area for a curry!! Some really good dishes. I’d stick to the special dishes for a more intense flavour. Starters are really good here also. Aloo tikki, momo and pakora are very nice. Couple of dishes to try if you like it hot go for the Kolapuri and milder then the Thakali. Quick update many months later and we just had yet another exceptional meal, 10/10 again. Cannot fault our order and this has been consistent for months and months. Truly incredible maintaining such a high standard. There is nowhere else like this in Fife. We tend to order a pakora, Thakali, Kolapuri with peshwari nan and chapatis every time and it’s that great a combination we just can’t change our order!! Thanks to everyone at the Shimla.

A Sunday evening dinner for two. Good portions, great service and nice location. The selection of draught bets is smash but comprehensive with the bottled beers option. Priced much the same as other Indian restaurants nearby

Our first visit here to try the Nepalese dining experience. A great food choice on the menu. A minimal selection of beers and cider. The food was excellent and the service was as good. Great portions and we took some leftovers home. Reasonably priced, all the nearest restaurants to here have their own quirks and price gimmicks. We will dine here again.

Great find. Finally got to go while in the area. Beautiful food, I had the Himalayan chicken Stew with mushroom rice. It was spicy and I loved it. Service was excellent. Some nice beers on offer too.

We checked in , Harry was most helpful carrying our bags up the stairs. Room is compact, clean and cozy. Great bathroom/shower. We popped downstairs to the bar and had a snack/starters and omg what a taste sensation!! Definitely having dinner Herr tomorrow night. So glad we chose this hotel..culturally different and so pleasant for eclectic kiwi travellers.👌😀

New years day meal with friends, had 3 separate tables booked as there was 17 of us. Place was warm when entering and our table was near a radiator. Seated right away and after 5 minutes or so our drinks order was taken. After 10 minutes food order taken and starters came out quick. Poppadoms with dips to munch on before starters came & we got a sharing platter to start between 4 of us, I Got the dopiaza, 2 got tikka masala and the other got a bhuna- all chicken, 3 portions of rice, 2 naan breads between us. Meals were delicious and good size portions. Spiced onions were amazing!! Not much left over and you can ask for it to be bagged up to take home if you want. After the tables were cleared, we got the hot cloths and dessert menu and we asked for the bill which came quickly. We were going to get dessert and coffees but they never came near us to take orders, we were a bit annoyed at that so the tip was reduced slightly. My only real complaint was as the time went by, people were going in and out the door for vaping and toilets so the freezing cold came in everytime the door was opened, some of us had to put coats back on. All n all, food great so go along for a nice meal n drink and enjoy!

We stopped for the last night in Scotland and picked the Earl David hotel because of the price and location. We were pleased to find the room was clean and bright. The sheets and beds are clean and comfortable. We were intrigued by the Napalese food in the restaurant, so even though we were not super hungry, we decided to get a little something. Our servers were gracious and kind. The service was very good. They made suggestions of which Napalese specific dishes to try and the food was wonderful. They also let us know at ordering that the dishes would take a little longer to make. The food was incredible and hot. The spice level was perfect. I would gladly come back to both the hotel and the restaurant.

The meal was excellent, I was going to order lamb madrash and the staff suggested kolhapuri since I like spicy, and it was the best decision. Couldn’t fault anything. Plus we were given a free rice pudding which was delicious too.

Das Essen war wirklich unglaublich gut, die Mischung der einzelnen Zutaten ist wirklich einmalig. Das Zimmer war soweit ok, aber die Dusche war permanent kalt, keine Klo Bürste und das Wasser im Waschbecken zum alternativen waschen war auch kalt und floss nicht mehr ab. Aber jederzeit wieder auf eine Mahlzeit sind wir dabei

We always get our take from here and the food is lovely. We decided to sit in. The service was slow, no one offered to get us another drink even though glasses were empty, the service was slow and not sure why they think bright LED lighting is fitting for a restaurant.

Despite booking via website the staff had no note of booking. Table available though. Food was good and reasonably priced. Car park to rear.

The place is lovely, staff are very friendly too. Had a mix starter for starters then a korma and the korma was the best tasting in fife. Will be back again.

I went for lunch with two friends for the first time today. The atmosphere was lovely, staff warm and welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend a visit. At first glance parking seems limited but there is actually a large customer car park behind the building. Our waiter Hari was the perfect host and the whole experience was superb.

Ordered a takeaway meal for pick up from shimla. Promp service. The food is cooked to a very high standard. Portions are very generous. 100 percent recommend this indian resturant. Very good value for money. The chicken tika is probably the best we have tasted. Well done to this resturant.

Very good food but prices are high for what you’re getting. Two poppadoms with dip each was £9+ other restaurants these are free. Will stick with the prince in Kirkcaldy better value for just as good food. Pitty as it’s just along the road.

The dishes were amazing, had tandoori tikka chicken for starter then South Indian garlic chilli chicken. Excellent flavours, highly recommend. Excellent Indian dishes, look forward to trying the specialties. Surely the best local Indian, better than anything in Kircaldy.

We booked 1 night at Earl David as we were travelling from Loch Ness from a holiday and venturing on to Edinburgh the day after, the staff here are excellent, room was very comfortable and decor was excellent. I had forgotten my corkscrew for my wine (devastated!), no problem as the person behind the bar lent me one!! We booked a table in the restaurant for the evening, the food choice was amazing, I'm vegetarian and I chose paneer ghorka which was brilliant 👏 my wife had chicken himalayan hot pot, she also said it was amazing 👏 what we couldn't eat, the staff put in a doggy bag for us - outstanding staff from chef's to waiter's, we'd like to thank you for everything 😀

I don’t normally do this but feel I need to as I’ve Just been here tonight after recommendation from my brother and it was absolutely delicious! The food really is tremendous and very fresh! The staff are very friendly as well and very fairly priced! If you like Indian food this is a must try!

Omg 😱 I have literally just finished the most amazing meal ever. Can't believe this superb restaurant is within walking distance and I've never been before. Will definitely be a regular visitor now. The service is top notch. Both recommendations from staff were perfect. The Everest lager was refreshing and a perfect accompaniment to my "hotpot". Can't fault this really. Can't wait to come back.

Went for a meal tonight and restaurant was modern and spotless, staff very attentive and helpful, even made me a starter which wasn’t on the menu. My friend had Veg Momo starter and it was delicious. I had a Kolapuri Chicken and was the best curry I’ve had in a long time. We both tried the Nepalese lager and it was lovely too. Highly recommend this restaurant on every level. I wish them every success and hope they are supported well.

Absolutely phenomenal food , the meat is tender and succulent. Sauce amazing, perfect consistency and shows every flavour from ingredients which is hard to get. This place will grow and start winning awards for food like that !! Kirkcaldy and near areas needs this badly 5* +

I live in the next village, and have been twice now. Each time the food has been outstanding and service friendly, helpful and highly professional. We had the lemon, cashew rice, which was amazing! The Indian ice cream was delicious. I can't wait to go back!! Thank you Shimla ♥️
