Shapla Indian in East Riding of Yorkshire

I really enjoyed my time here, shapla Indian is the best India around, ready nice staff, especially mizzy, he is very kind and considerate, he really cares about his customers and deserves a raise/promotion. This is by far the best restaurant I have been too, I am very happy with my food and once again mizzy has made my day!!

Returned to the Shapla and pleased to say that the food was excellent, well impressed, with the quality and taste. ♡☆☆☆☆☆

The food was superb, will definitely revisit.

We ate here twice. The food was good and the portions are sufficient. The restaurant is also a takeaway and has a small bar. The ambience was loud.

First visit, won’t be our last. Booked in last minute for two of us. From the moment we walked in we were looked after very well. All our food was brought at well spaced intervals and very good it was too. Portion sizes are quite large so beware if you’ve a smaller appetite. Nice to see Cobra and Madri on draft as well. Was quite noisy in there but didn’t affect us too much. One of the mains was wrong but that got changed without too much delay. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Adore it here. It’s only a short drive from home and we’re new to the area so this has been a brilliant early find for us. Already visited a couple of times and will be back again.

The food was excellent, staff were friendly, polite and attentive, leading to a brilliant overall experience. Probably one of the best restaurants I've been to for service. Looking forward to going again.

This review is for the takeaway side albeit shouldn't be any different to restaurant side as the price is the same. We have had a takeaway most saturdays for the past 21/2 years and was unbelievably brilliant until late last year and slowly has been going down hill. things not in the order, or some sub standard dishes. The price increase didn't help with sub standard food.Two weeks ago was the final meal we will have as waiting over an hour when placed order well in advance and yes the meal was now into being appalling. So sorry no more from us and we spent a lot of money and would always for good things but not now.

Great food and excellent service, nice and busy even just after doors open, good atmosphere. Eat in and take away available, would reccomend booking at busy times.

Would NOT recommend. WORST experience we've ever had. Definitely deserves a 0, but I can't score that as it won't allow. Sat in for a special occasion with full family so this meal cost over £200. All had starters, which were OK, not the best. Chicken pakoras soggy, but the most shocking was my partner nearly choked on a bright blue rubber band in his onion bhaji. He literally nearly choked, and then we were all disgusted when he pulled out a long blue rubber band from his mouth. The server we had didn't really react and just said he would take the one starter off the bill. We tried to enjoy the rest of the night, but then the mains came out, and throughout the night, we all found hairs in numerous plates. When I told the server about the first hair found, he argued it was mine when it was literally cooked into the food. He told me it was my blonde hair as it was a female's hair and they didn't have any female's working there. There was a female waitress behind the bar but I simply told the server it could of been a man's hair and it could be grey as there were alot of older gentlemen coming in and out of the kitchen without hair nets all with longer hair and beards. He took the dish into the back before coming back with it shouting there wasn't a hair in this dish and causing a scene in the very busy dining area. I had to tell him to please leave me alone as I don't like confrontation and it was meant to be a special occasion so didn't want it ruined and didn't appreciate the shouting. As I said, there were numerous plates with hairs found after this, so no one really ate anything but didn't feel like we could say anything further after this incident. Two of the people who were dining with us got quite ill over the next few days after this too. Not sure if it was something they ate but just very coincidental with all the oversights to health&hygiene that are clearly going on at this establishment. I'm all for human error, but the handling of this was terrible, and the lack of caring and empathy that went into the service at our table that night was disgusting. Especially when someone could have seriously been hurt with the choking hazard. Hope no one else has to deal with this going forward, though I do think this place probably should be investigated.

This is our go to place for takeaways. Food is always fab and the staff are great. We have eatien in too and would definitely recommend.

Although there were plenty of staff the service was very slow. It appears that the takeaway service is prioritised.

Incredible service, I must admit this is the ideal spot to enjoy quality time with loved ones. The staff is exceptionally friendly and well-mannered; they handle everything with the utmost care and politeness. In particular, Noman stands out for his remarkable courtesy and gentility. Now, let's talk about the food – it's nothing short of amazing. I dare say, this is the finest Indian restaurant in all of East Cowick. Their cuisine is simply exquisite! This visit marked our first experience here, but my wife and I have already made up our minds to return.

Tomato puree base for all curries. Poor and little difference between any of the curries, even though they should have been massively different. Not worth the trip, nice naan bread.

The food is always absolutely great. The staff are super attentive and friendly. I recommend the tikka paneer, it’s fantastic.

On the spur of the Moment I went for a garlic chilli chicken with Bengali Rice - twas very yummy and the staff, particularly the young front of house lady were very nice and made you feel very relaxed - Yeap - well done x

Not one for giving negative reviews,unfortunately this is one of those. Ordered a takeaway,got it home and found the garlic naan bread to be very chewy,and hard,so must have been stale,chips looked liked they had been reheated as well,most of them were hard. Rice was about 3/4's full. Main meals were nice tho,pity the rest was spoilt....

It was a very delicious diner. The prices are affordable. I recommend this place if you like Indian foods.

The food, the atmosphere, the restaurant, the staff, all incredible. The food is by far the best Indian food I've ever had. Really good portion sizes, we had to carton ours to bring home because there was so much food, and the taste is out of this world.

Great night out at the Shapla Indian restaurant. The food is fantastic, the service 1st class and professional.

Collected a takeaway, 10 of us from work treating ourselves on New years day. All our orders were bagged and tagged individually, and every meal was absolutely delicious. Fantastic service, awesome food. Thank you very much.

Been coming here for years and it just gets better and better staff are very polite professional and helpful 👌 we always recommend this place to any one who asks for somewhere nice to go out for a meal. Keep up the excellent work 👍

First visit to shapla,ordered to go,waited roughly 20 minutes.The food was very nice plenty of spices,the only down fall was the onion bhajis they were very dry.Would go again to try other dishes 7/10.

Will not be using this place again. Got a takeaway curry, added it up plus 15% off for collection and yet again they tried to overcharge me by £2.21. He said the price has gone up on chicken dishes, £9.85 for a small tikka, rip off for what you get, cheaper to get a curry from asda. They didn't even honour the price from my home and website menu, he said new ones will be done. Rip off. Avoid this place from now on. AND MAKE SURE YOU ADD YOUR PRICE UP YOURSELF OR THEY'LL OVERCHARGE YOU. FUNNY HOW THEY NEVER UNDERCHARGE YOU! NO REPLY FROM THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS WILL BE ACCEPTED OR JUSTIFIED! YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR IT.

Went for a meal with friends this evening the service was very poor from the waiter’s continually leaning in front of us, service very slow. When the food arrived they brought the wrong order, the only response I received when complained was sorry. Won’t be going back

Spent £58 on take away had to wait over 2hrs for delivery and then they missed off onion bhajis, seems like they are taking on too much.

Decent takeaway but far better to eat in. Good, old school curry house.

Long wait, sorry. Phoned in!!! Told 45 mins. Arrived Still waited another 45 mins!!!!! Food ok.

We visited on Friday 20th August, we were staying at The Pig Inn and it was a 6 minute walk to the restaurant, on arrival we were greated by friendly staff, the food was fabulous and there was a great choice. I would definitely recommend, and hopefully when in this area again we shall definitely be calling in.

A lovely restaurant tastefully decorated. Always busy but service is very quick, the staff are very friendly and attentive. Wide selection of food on the menu, food is delicious & stays piping hot to the end with the lidded dishes it is brought out in. Highly recommend. They do take away too.

Visited at 7pm early June 2021 with my husband and daughter. We've been looking for a new local Indian restaurant to visit after poor service and meals at our usual place. After visiting Shapla this is now our new favourite local Indian! Staff were friendly and attentive, service was fast and spot on, food was tasty and perfect portion sizes, so much choice on the menu, comfortable interior and I really felt like the staff worked interdependently as a team. Would definitely recommend and we're looking forward to coming back

Disappointing when you ask for a lamb jalfrezi and they only put a small amount of lamb in and the rest beef. Why do places do this, I’d rather just pay a couple extra! 🤬🤬🤬

Stop quickly here on our way home to Bristol , the food was gorgeous , well presented and prompt. Staff very friendly and precise. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely go back.
