We’ve been here a few times, as I like the varied menu and the fish is great . This time again, I really enjoyed my fish, halibut , likewise husband, who had the stone bass and taramasalata to start . For desert we had apple crumble soufflé and the choux bun. I’ve only given 4 stars for a few little niggles. The pastry on the choux bun was quite hard . My halibut dish said it came with artichoke, which I love, but when it came , there were small crispy bits all over the fish , which could have been crispy artichoke, but hard to tell. I asked the waitress if that’s what it was , she didn’t know and didn’t bother finding out . Although the staff were friendly enough, for me there’s a few things missing that I’m used to in a decent restaurant- no checking if food is ok, no checking if we want another drink . I do appreciate not having a service charge on the bill though , as it’s nicer to tip what you think is appropriate

I have visited the restaurant, caffe/deli and ‘take away’ several times. Last night I visited the ‘take away’ trailer ordering a small cod and chips. On returning to the car to eat a good looking portion of ‘nesting ’ fish I detected a chemical taint to the fish and a whiff of what seemed to be ammonia. I returned to the trailer and expressed my disappointment to the chef who said that is what cod smelled liked. Well not the cod I eat. No refund was forthcoming so I asked if there was a bin and deposited the remainder in the bin. I can however report that 18 hours later I suffered no ill effect.

We love this restaurant sometimes bring friends but we like it on our own too. This time I had the vegetarian option main of leak and potato tart it was amazing more like a very light soufflé on pastry delicious topped with there fab Parmesan fries my husband had the halibut cooked perfection plenty of it. Dessert, apple crumble soufflé with ice cream first class very light.. This restaurant has amazing ambience, fabulous staff services quick efficient with a smile! We will return🥰

This was our fourth or fifth visit and still didn't disappoint. Meal options varied from the seafood platter, salmon fillet, kegderee and scallops with everyone reporting high praise on their choices. Menu is varied and offers something for most tastes. The setup is smart-casual with friendly, welcoming and attentive sercive in a relaxed ambience. No airs and graces, just comfortable. Highly recommended for special treats. Prices are reflective of the offerings and worth it.

Fantastic food, very attentive service. If you want sea food, this is a great place to go. A very enjoyable evening out. Must try dishes - the taramasalata nibble and the wing of Skate.

As this place has had a lot of positive reviews over it’s time and having experienced lunches there many times I was disappointed on a recent visit to be served very chewy chips - and peas with a watery surround. The food was served quite quickly and I can only assume that the chips are precooked and reheated. It’s hardly a cheap eatery and therefore not unreasonable to expect better. The fish was very nice with crispy batter. Service is good and staff are pleasant.

The fish section of the shop is very good indeed and we have bought fresh fish from here for years with never a disappointment. Equally, the smoked products (salmon, trout, eel, etc are excellent). Twice now, however, we have been tempted to eat in the Café and, unfortunately, both times we have been surprised and disappointed by the shoddy preparation of the food. By way of example, Smoked Haddock with poached egg and spinach arrived swimming in water, presumably from poorly drained and ‘gritty’ spinach. The fish was barely cooked and still translucent on the edges and, worst of all, the yoke of the poached egg was very overcooked. So many aspects of this place are very good which only adds to the disappointment.

It’s always a pleasure to eat here fabulous food freshly cooked to order good size portions well presented lovely atmosphere fantastic building and the staff very attentive. Never had a bad meal here ever we will return.

Absolutely superb! You do however need to improve your website and social media! Food was excellent, wine inexpensive, service great! Toilets very good too!

Enjoyed an excellent early evening meal. The dishes were all very interesting, well cooked and presented. The service was exceptional. Definitely will return.

The only place to buy decent fish in a fifty mile radius. The fish counter stocks the best quality and variety of fish I’ve seen in a long time. The delicatessen has fantastic variety of products and cheeses and wonderful fish dishes and salads. You can choose a dish and two salads for £12.50 to eat in the cafe. We haven’t eaten at the restaurant, but are looking forward to it. There’s even a ‘burger bar’ outside serving takeaway food. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Had a lovely Saturday lunch. Mixed platter of smoked fish and meat and the fish and chips - all delicious and really attentive service. Superb deli on ground floor, so much so that we ended up staying for an unplanned coffee and dessert and in the cafe! Really nice surroundings and popular, so book ahead if planning a visit. Shame they dont do regular Sunday lunch. Nearby Westbury on Severn is a nice stop off, too.

A beautiful shop/ cafe with a range of high quality goods and a wonderful selection of cakes. We had not expected to see a fabulous counter of deli delights. We just called in for a coffee and a warm bacon and cheese muffin (although it was hard to resist the array of cakes on offer). We will definitely go back.

Welcome, service, food, ambiance, all perfect. Service was friendly and professional. Tempting menu ( mostly fish) , dishes cooked in an open, scrupulously clean kitchen. A delightful barn setting, lovely décor and comfortable chairs. Well spaced tables. We were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. Great deli counter and wet fishmonger downstairs next to the café. We look forward to returning.

We dined here again , our favourite restaurant, a family of six for yet again another great evening of food, drinks, and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. Service is crisp, and attentive even though the restaurant was full. Collectively we ordered across the menu of drinks, and food from starters to deserts. The food and drink were superb, as usual. In all the times we have dined here, The Smokery has always been a pleasure to dine at. One of our party needs gluten free options and as everything is cooked to order by their knowledgeable chefs, they will adapt their menu and if possible prepare the dish, or adapt it to gluten free. Service charge is discretionary, but always a pleasure for me for give. We always look forward to a great evening here at The Smokery. Many thanks to the team.

I just wish they would update their menu other than facebook! I mean for the prices they charge they could have a current menu on their own website instead of taking the cheep option! come on Sever & Wye you can at least keep your clients up to date with what you are serving!!!! it is us (Your Customers) that is paying for it at the end of the day!

Once again, an exceptional evening at SWS. We were a party of 12 so had to pre order our food but everything was perfect and delicious. We will return but you now have another 10 people who wish to visit again. Well done to Jerome and his team as well as all the chefs. Happy Christmas!

We came for lunch because I’ve been here many times before and it’s always been excellent. The atmosphere was great and the staff were welcoming. We had the Focaccia as an appetiser which was very tasty and spongy. For starters we each had salt and pepper squid which was sadly overcooked and bland, the coating fell off far too easily so more than often you ended up with just plain chewy squid. For my main I had the fillet of salmon with lobster ravioli, the salmon was very nice and cooked well, but was let down by the lobster ravioli which was bland and dry. My partner had the sika deer which alright but very bland and could have done with more seasoning. Desserts were probably the best part of the meal, the soufflé was brilliant and the almond milk pannacotta was very good. Overall disappointing experience for the cost and the usual quality was lacking unfortunately. Won’t be returning any time soon

Excellent restaurant manager and friendly nicely attired waiting staff . Food excellent including a smoked salmon starter and fish and chips main course. Tartare sauce could do with a bit more bite but overall pretty much perfect. Chocolate pudding to die for. Well done we will return

This was a second visit after a birthday dinner a few weeks prior and again we had an excellent meal and very good service. The standout item for us both times was the apple crumble soufflé - to be clear, the rest of the meal was excellent, but how they get these soufflés so light and tasty and just sublime is quite beyond me. Two of us had the platters which are very generous and filled with all kinds of delicious savoury and seafood delights. The side platters are great for the less hungry and we will definitely go back. The service is very friendly and you are made to feel very welcome.

My wife and I went here for the first time this autumn and had an excellent lunch. The fish courses were cooked to perfection and the puddings (a raspberry soufflé) were a delight. We are gradually returning with our family to introduce them to the Deli, Coffee shop and restaurant. The wide range and quality of food in the deli was first rate and the separate fish shop was a real joy. Go there thinking of fish and good food and you won't be disappointed. Do try their smoked fish.

We went for an anniversary lunch, and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The halibut was delicious. The service was excellent too.

I adore the fish that this wonderful place produces. They are the kings of fish in my opinion and the people working around the fish are super nice people. However, when we went out of our way to go and eat in the cafe and arrived at one minute past 3 - they proclaimed loudly that they were not serving anything but tea and cakes as service ended at three - even then they were reluctant to serve the tea and cakes - it was hugely disappointing so we didn't stay! There were other members of staff - equally unfriendly serving at the check out for the shop with glum faces and no warmth at all in voices or approach and I find it most odd that somewhere so prestigious should employ such unfriendly folk! With the exception of the girl serving at the deli counter and of course the fish shop - it was not a good experience and we had come a long way to visit them!

Visited the Restaurant to celebrate my mother's 86th birthday, we have visited a number of times so we know that the food and service is excellent, yet again the staff delivered on both elements. A great experience, thanks to all the staff, can't wait to return.

This is a wonderful place to visit but having visited the Ladies cloakroom on the ground floor , I was very disappointed to see ,inspite of what looks like an impecibly clean and tidy area ,the rusty old toilet brush holder,which was a real letdown ! This was in cubicle 1- I have no idea about the others, but surely whoever does the cleaning would report something so grim in such a beautifully designed Restaurant/shop etc ! Extraordinary that something so simple has been ignored. I hope that can be rectified by the time we visit again .

Enjoyed 2 small plates with added side today and they were delicious. Intrnd to make this venue a weekly lunch event. Very friendly welcome and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This was a birthday celebration and a recommendation from a friend and colleague. The set up is very striking and we were slightly disappointed that the shop was closed - the information about opening hours on Facebook isn't entirely reliable and it would be much more helpful if Severn & Wye had a functioning webpage that you could book on and find all the information you need, like most restaurants. Be that as it may, the restaurant is well lit and spacious and tables are big enough and seating comfortable - the decor is modern. The key point though is the food and service - very personable and experienced servers and sublime seafood. The taramasalata was spectacular, and, who knew, not pink! Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the shellfish platter and I made short work of the smoked platter. My wife had the squid, the crevettes and scallops and confirmed that they were delicious. Another surprise was the pud - the apple crumble soufflé was incredibly light and tasty and the coconut parfait was so clever, with the most sublime flavours and textures. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny.

Excellent clean and professionally run restaurant, serving a good range of mainly fish and seafood based dishes. Food is always nicely cooked, with imaginative combinations, not one for the meat eaters, vegans or budget conscious, but well worth the outlay. Wine list is pretty good...

Perfect in pretty well every way. We went for 2 starters each plus taramasalata and salmon skins. (The skins were wonderful but dripping in oil which made the table pretty greasy, needs solving I think) But it was a blissful meal.
