Amazing food and friendly service.

Lovely shop, clean and tidy and a really nice quiet atmosphere. People who work in the shop are always lovely and welcoming. Amazing fresh food at really good prices too. 100% recommend :)

I had pie and chips and gravy chips were excellent very good pie was really bad not nice at all done in the microwave very clean place nice man served me again the chips were great but sadly the pie really let it down

Absolutely AWFUL- ordered on uber eats took over 2 hours to arrive most of which was the delivery time. Man who answered the phone was horrible and unprofessional. He spoke to me like a 5 year old. Food shows up COLD. Absolutely unacceptable never ordering from here again. Stay clear

Whilst on holiday with the family in Ilfracombe we decided to drive into Barnstaple and have the most amazing fish and chips we have ever had! We ordered the Cod fish and chips with tarter sauce and curry sauce and was received with complimentary chicken nuggets for my toddler. The fish and chips were freshly made and were beyond what we imagined, just delicious! Can't even fault anything, the owners also gave a discount and service was great too.

We were staying locally and ordered our meals online, very easy to do, we ordered take away. We were notified by phone of time to collect. When we arrived my better half decide she wanted to dine in! This however was no problem, we were seated and the meal plated up for us, excellent service! (We were even told that if we were prepared to wait they would fry us fresh food). The food was excellent, crisp tasty batter, moist, flaky, sweet fish and crunchy, fluffy chips, perfect. A very good meal, reasonably priced with exceptional customer service. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Halal food In Barnstaple. Newly opened and all good is Halal. Reasonably priced too. We had typical fish and chips which tasted good. Friendly staff and very welcoming. There are not many local halal choices but this is a good choice for our short break.

Absolutely delicious fish & chips. Best weve ever had. Reasonably priced, excellent portions. Fried in veg oil, seperate from chicken/beef items. Chips are battered so crunchy and soft. Will definately come again when holidaying in Devon. Worth a drive out.

Had their Fish and Chips. Absolutely delicious 🤤 Naveed bhai (The Owner), such a great personality, kind and humble and greets so well. Overall it looks premium as well. The staff is friendly. And it’s 100% Suitable for muslims as they have a lot of halal options. All menu basically.

It's a shame I can't do half a star! ordered my food about two hours ago the driver couldn't find our house, then we had to chase him down got given the wrong food, phoned the restaurant and got told wait ten minutes and you'll get a fresh order and phoned a few times and still not been delivered!

Chips aren't real potatoes. Funny coating around them. Place was empty.

Fish was ok, but chips had some kind of coating, not to my taste. A good chip needs no adornment.

Mandeep who looked after us was an amazing host. It was my girlfriend's birthday weekend away with friends and after a lovely coastal walk, we rolled the dice with Scoff's fish and chips and we did not regret it. Mandeep was warm, accommodating and thoughtful, and the fish and chips was classic! Would visit again if in the Barnstaple area!

Not what it used to be when the local Devon man ran the place. Now its just a sub par chipshop. Gutted.

Went there at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday. No one in but us. Only negative thing to say. Friendly efficient staff; excellent, freshly cooked food (not kept warm and on display).

Possibly the best fish and chips I have had for ages! The batter was golden, the portions were plentiful, and the curry sauce was excellent. We ordered through Uber Eats and it arrived exactly when it said. I am very impressed and will be using again!

went to Barnstable on Wednesday 4th September and then into Scoffs at midday. Wife and I had fish and chips and it was super, great staff and service. Best we have ever had and will go again

Amazing customer service. Others should take note. When they say they are dog friendly they mean it. Brough our fluffy friend a fresh bowl of water and a sausage so he didn't feel left out Food was outstanding as well. Would give 10 stars for service if I could.

Not for us. Food was not that good service was extremely slow with very little attention even though we were the only table eating in. Didn't feel too clean either.

Literally just eaten here fantastic food chips were lovely soft on the inside and crispy on the outside l had a fishcake chips and mushy peas best I have ever eaten from a chip shop/ restaurant. Also dog friendly. The staff were very friendly and attentive great curry sauce. Husbands fish was delicious. I Definitely would recomend this place.

What a lovely find. On holiday with 4 boys all getting a bit wound up. Staff brought furniture outside to accommodate us all. Was a bit apprehensive as they were so nice and that's just not a thing where we live. But no it was amazing, all children from ages 11 to 1 enjoyed. They waited on us, repeatedly checked in. Was so lovely. Was so good that we went and found a cashpoint after as we really wanted to give a tip. This is how all restaurants should be.

I stopped here on my coastal walk.. Very hungry... craving a pie... They delivered beautifully and were super friendly, even offering if i wanted to charge my phone without me even asking! So friendly and kind. I ended up having a few chips and they were so so good.. The best chips I've had for a long time! Thank you!

Called into scoff's today for fish and chips. First impressions, great atmosphere lovely decor. Clean and tidy. Greeted by friendly helpful staff. Food was delicious and well priced. They are dog friendly and even gave our dog a sausage to feast on. Will definitely be returning if ever in Barnstaple again. Thanks Paul.

Fantastic fish and chips! The lady had the cod and I had the haddock. Both ordered smalls, but are actually very large portions. We needed to do some work online and they were very accommodating. Very clean restrooms and restaurant. The staff and owner lady were incredibly kind.

Awful ! Never again 😒 not a patch on previous owners .. Chips horrible like greasy warm ups fish not nice saturated in fat That me done there Used to be nice Overpriced and awful .. Feel ill when I think about it Left most of it! Yuk.

Ate here while in Barnstaple for a few days holiday.We were warmly welcomed by the lady running it.The Cod and chips were cooked to order and we're delicious.Very friendly people who deserve to make a success.

We found Scoff's by chance in March 2024. Clean & well presented F&C shop, very friendly staff. We had Cod (small) and Haddock. Both were large. Chips were exceptional and tasty. Fish had a thin coating of batter on them. Really tasty meals. Best F&C we have had in a while. Next time we visit Barnstable we will visit again.

To put it in a top line, *Simply Sensational* From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming face. We both ordered the fish and chips (one small and one regular) while we waited. The lady behind the counter chatted to us and was very friendly. The meal was very reasonably priced, and for the quality a steal. We took the food away with us and ate it back in our airbnb (only about 15 mins away). The food was still hot. The fish is very fresh and flavoursome and flakes with ease. It comes in a soft and tasty batter that isn't too heavy but packs a great flavour. The chips. Well, wow. They are coated in a sort of crispy batter themselves that honestly, i couldn't stop devouring them. (Even after i was filled up) The only negative (if it is one) is its a shame it not more local to me [but again my waistline couldn't cope]

Best chips ever!! On this grey day, lunch at Scoffs brightened our day. The staff are really welcoming as soon as you step inside. The food was cooked freshly and tasted so good, crispy coated chips and piping hot. We all left full and looking forward to our next visit.

Pleased to find somewhere to eat mid afternoon. I had pulled chicken my wife haddock and chips. The food was lovely, if a slight delay in getting it, but the staff were very good and friendly. No reason not to recommend or revisit

Very happy after enjoying some delicious fish & chips at Scoffs. Everything was piping hot and the food was cooked to perfection. Probably the best chips I've ever had, and plenty of them even with the regular portions that we ordered. The hosts were were very welcoming and attentive too. A perfect plate of food for a cold Friday night! 😋

We were recommended to come here for the battered chips - having never had them before. They were so right! Wonderfully crisp outside and fluffly on the inside. Beautiful piece of cod too. Doggies allowed, which makes a huge difference to us. Very efficient and friendly service. Plus to top it all off, doggie was given a free sausage. Just great - thoroughly recommended.
