The BEST meal of 2023 we’ve had. Honestly just such comforting and delicious food. Friendly service and just homey interior, we are making this such a regular spot!!!! The price is unreal, couldn’t believe it when we got the bill would have happily paid double and not batted an eyelid!! MUST VISIT!!

This is a local gem! Great Italian food at a very affordable price. All our courses were beautiful. We will be back soon.

Excellent. This establishment is obviously a former terraced house and the owner is the Cook, Waiter and Chief Bottle Washer. It specialises in Italian food and although not what you would call posh the food and service is first class and clean. Very friendly and there is a Spirit licence. It is Child friendly and I found it quite atmospheric. I would definitely like to go there again.

Dîner du 07/04/22, Le restaurant est relativement petit et peu indiqué donc pas simple de le trouver. L'ambiance à l'intérieure est assez bizarre : très sombre, musique de musette italienne assez forte, et salle toute en longueur avec projecteurs et boule à facette... On ne sait pas si on mange dans un resto italien ou dans une boite de nuit. La nourriture reste bonne sans être extraordinaire. Bonne crevettes, pain à l'ail très gras, poulet tendre, bonnes pâtes, bon tiramisu. Les prix sont assez doux aussi par rapports à pas mal de restos italiens testés dans le coin. En conclusion : c'est bon, pas cher et folklo à l'anglaise ? Je recommande.

We decided to try Sandros for a family meal after reading the reviews. We weren’t disappointed! We went on a Tuesday night and opted to try the 3 course meal with a drink for £15. What a bargain. The service was superb, not too fast or too slow. The quality and the portions were excellent. Can’t believe we only paid £15 per head when you pay this for a main course at most large chain Italian restaurants. We’ll be back!

1st visit to sandros and wont be the last , really friendly host , fantastic food and very reasonable. Loved the decor and background music , looking forward to out next meal there .

We visited on a Saturday night with a party of 7 for a birthday. Although the restaurant was full the service was excellent and not at all slow. Food was delicious and staff were friendly, prices reasonable. We will be returning!

We visited this restaurant on the 31st Jan 2020. The food was spot on. Not many in which was a shame. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We shall be returning soon. Staff very friendly prices very reasonable. All in all lovely evening. Give it a try you won'tbe disappointed.

This is the second time I’ve been to this lovely little gem, hidden in the main streets of Clowne. The evening was booked for my sons 18th birthday which 23 people attended. Everyone pre-booked their meals - most chose the 3 for £15 menu which included a free glass of wine. Got to the restaurant and they were happy to hide my son’s birthday cake and put some candles on for us. The staff were so helpful and friendly and made a lovely atmosphere. The food itself was hot, fresh and delicious and everyone got exactly what they ordered - no mistakes on such a large party. At the end of the meal they brought out my son’s cake and sang happy birthday. Thankyou so much Sandros for making it such a great night, it was very special! Xx

Evening visit with partner after recommendation from a friend. Wednesday night special £15 for three courses and a drink, Excellent value and very good food. Especially impressed with the coconut cake. Will definitely go again,

If Italian is your thing the food here is to die for. A little off the beaten track but well worth beating a path to the door for.

The little restaurant is perfect, allowing it not to get too overcrowded but also allowing Sandro to be able to provide the best service. I went with my sister and we were able to enjoy the atmosphere of the Italian music in a traditional Italian restaurant setting while able to catch up and enjoy each others company. The food is amazing value for money. The portions huge and the flavours tasteful and not over bearing. I definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion, date night? 10/10. Birthday meal 10/10. Family night 10/10. I'm glad this restaurant has managed to last so long and wish it stays

Six of us attended this restaurant this evening. I thought the food was excellent and would have given 5* but the others rated it a little lower and the rating reflects the views altogether. Very tasty, reasonable prices, great variety and served reasonably promptly. I chose this restaurant on the basis of the reviews, I'm glad I did. It was a great ending to a family day. Parking on the road is non existent, suggest parking on Church Street car park which is a parallel road and free.

Easily one of the best Italian meals I have had in a long time. Can not recommend enough. The three course deal on a Tuesday and Wednesday is excellent value for money considering the exceptional quality of the food. I will be returning and I recommend you try it out too!

Been coming to Sandro's for years after our neighbours recommended it to us when we moved to the area! Absolutely love the authentic Italian food and the atmosphere here is so relaxed and welcoming!

Fresh delicious authentic Italian food..had set menu..worth every penny...£15 . I've eaten in Rome and Venice and i can honestly say...the Sandros in Clowne is better...Sandro himself is not only the cook..he buys.preps.waits tables. Cleans.pot washer .bar tends.and his limoncellos are amazing.... don't assume he can be a comedian or magician too. You take your party to him and he'll provide you all fabulousoo dishes

WOW!! A little undiscovered gem on my doorstep! First visit tonight with friends. Will definitely not be the last. Could not find fault with anything. excellent food, good service,brilliant atmosphere. Prices very reasonable. Most enjoyable.

We've visited countless times with friends and as a couple; Or the take away option. Our favourite pasta is Rigatoni alla Calbrese, we'd recommend it for those who like a bit of heat Fabulous prices too.

We have visited Sandros a few times over the years, as we had friends living in the village. We have now moved here and have visited a couple more times. There are always specials on of seasonal dishes. Fantastic Pizza and pasta dishes. More people should try it here. Everything is made to order and if you want to be in and out in 30 mins like many chain resataurants, it maybe worth ordering takeaway pizza ;) (as that too is fabulous) .... great authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. I would definately recommend.

I love this place. Lovely owner, lovely food, decent priced. Nothing is too much trouble. Shame not a lot of people know it exists :(

One of those places we have been meaning to try now for a long time but never got around too.

Went to this place for a family do last year. I wouldn’t choose to go to this place, as the look of it from the outside is not exactly the definition of inviting.

I could have titled this as don’t be put off by the exterior because I know some folks will be. It’s not the biggest of restaurants but it certainly is cosy. If your looking for a typical Italian restaurant then this may not be for you. Sandro, the owner is a truly lovely bloke and does all the cooking but he’s not the best at “front of house”. But let’s get on to the food. There is quite a large selection for such a small place ranging from the standard pizza, pasta and Italian dishes to a specials board. The prices are very reasonable and they now have a liquor license. Our last visit was a party of 11. We had a selection of pizza and pasta dishes plus a couple of starters. The food arrived together so that was a welcome treat and it was very nice. Generous portions meant some of us had food left on our plates (not me I hasten to add). My advice is to take it on face value. It’s great value, nice and intimate and local too. I have eaten at better Italian restaurants but I’ve also eaten at a lot worse. Give it a try, I think you’ll enjoy it. Ciao

Heard good things about this little unassuming place and live close by so finally booked in for our anniversary and joined by two friends. We ordered lamb, chicken breast and tagliatelle. The food was cooked fresh and quickly served. I had the tagliatelle carbonara and it was perfect, absolutely delicious. Each of the other three enjoyed their meals also. I will definitely return to this wonderful restaurant.

We paid a visit on a Wednesday evening, had the offer of 3 courses and a drink for £15. Started with garlic mushrooms freshly made and very garlicky! Then followed by a freshly made very substantial and rather tasty calzone, finished off with a generous slice of homemade cheesecake. We were the only people in the restaurant but still had a cosy atmosphere with the Italian music playing! Would recommend a visit.

Really disappointed, came here for our work’s do and ordered the lamb. The veg was lovely but unfortunately the lamb was over cooked and I left most of it. It’s a shame as the other dishes looked tasty. I mentioned it was tough when he collected the plates and got no response. I was still hungry and work mates ended up giving me bits of their food.

Brilliant local authentic italian. Great prices and beautiful food. Give your local restaurant a try. They even do takeaways too!

Had a really good evening here atmosphere quiet at times as hardly anybody in service very good food very nice not too expensive, very clean and comfortable will be going again

This is a lovely little Italian restaurant on the main highstreet in clowne. We went on new year's eve as a group of 8. The meal was £25 each for a 3 course meal of our choice. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and the desserts were great. Well worth the money. Think they had extra staff that night as the restaurant was full. Drinks were good. Only problem was the smokers who took it in turns to open the door to go outside for a cigarette. Being winter, everyone was feeling the cold draft each time. Not the owners fault.

Really nice food. Good wine and a great atmosphere. Well recommended and a lovely place for a romantic meal.

This Italian is very near our home. We have visited on a number of occasions and have always had a brilliant meal. Sandro is an excellent host, he is pleasantly laid back but efficient at the same time and nothing seems to stress him, making for an enjoyable evening.

Sandros is small and cosy. I have driven by it so many times and not noticed it but then when talking to a friend about good places to eat he recommended I give it a try.So glad I did . Party of 4 who all ordered different dishes. Every one was lovely from starter through to dessert. Prices were very good as was the service.I will definitely be going back in the near future and have recommended many friends to give it a try .

Our family recently went to Sandro's for my dads 80th birthday party. The hosts could not have been more accommodating for our requirements. They offered us the venue solely to our group, with an Italian buffet served fresh from the ovens! Home made pizzas and pasta dishes with fresh Italian style salads were beautifully presented to us and the hosts made sure we had all that we needed whilst being discreet in the background as we held our party. Soft Italian music was played in the background creating an authentic atmosphere and the interior was also decorated with a distinct Italian theme. This little restaurant is a real gem and I can highly recommend this place for great food,atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. I'll definitely be going back in the near future to try out the evening menu. Thank you Sandro!

Went for a works leaving party big mistake !! They had advanced warning it was a big party .... Poor young girl on her own to take drink orders food orders and clear away food not very good some dishes Luke warm people finished before others had there's went in at 8pm didn't come out until 11 ... Just really not good will def not be going back !!!!!!!

Fantastic authentic food, fabulous atmospheres, brilliant value for money. This was our first time but definitely won't be our last. Thank you Sandro, for an unforgettable birthday meal.

Friday tea time empty restaurant, decor nice best thing about it. Ordered off the specials board, chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, with potatoes and vegetables. Came out four roast potatoes still frozen in middle, four strips of carrot and two stems of broccoli. Chicken was dry, Luke warm for £12.95. Steak wasn't much cop either, same with vegetables and potatoes. Steak was small for £15.95. Italian margarita pizza with tomato ketchup with cheese. Over priced and small portions. Very disappointed

Haven't been here for a few years but just as nice as I remembered. Starters was lovely. Huge garlic breads enough to share. My garlic mushrooms were delicious. My daughter had the tomato soup she said it was lovely. We had a selection of pizza pasta and Rissoto for mains and we all ate it all. Reasonable priced wine and didn't taste like poison like some places. Definatly will be going back soon ☺

We booked here for my birthday meal for 12 of us. It was freezing. Only one waitress. Food was nothing spectacular. One lasagne was very burnt another cold. Wouldn't go again

The starter, main course and wine were very nice but I was very disappointed that the specials board had disappeared, the sweet menu was poor and the atmosphere was non existent. In the past 5 star this time only 3

We visited Sandro's restaurant on New Years Eve, the food was excellent and we had a very nice evening. We have had meals at Sandro's on many occasions before and are never disappointed. The restaurant now has a licence and the price of drinks were very reasonable. The restaurant is definitely recommended and we will visit again.

We've been to Sandro's many times before, but this was the first time now he has a license to sell booze! The occasion was for my wife's birthday! I must say Sandro always gives you quality meals! My wife had her usual of Aubergine to start which is always amazing, and the Pollo Caliente for main, which was fantastic again. I had pancakes then Fillet Steak! All superbly cooked with great taste! Where can you get a fillet steak cooked to this quality for only £16.95? Unbelievable! Don't let the license put you off as the prices for bottles of wine are the cheapest I've ever had in a restaurant, and the bottles of beer are cheaper than your local! Please support this local restaurant as it is a true gem, and Sandro is a passionate man who is proud of his work! We'll be back for definite! Thanks Sandro!

For the last 5 years I have tried to book a table at this restaurant at least 3 times per year and every phone call resulted in "I'm sorry we are full" . So on this occasion I thought I'd won the lottery when we finally got a table .Overall we had a nice meal in really pleasant surroundings . The decor reflected a typical Italian restaurant and everywhere seemed clean and tidy . I was surprised at the size of the place though which was quite small however it helped to create a really nice atmosphere .For starters I had the mushrooms in white wine - Fresh and delicious (To quote Gordon Ramsey) my wife had prawns in a hot sauce n rice ,different but nice . Main course for me was the fillet steak in a brandy sauce . The steak was ok but I asked for medium and it was more like rare - next time I will go for medium to well done . My wife had sea bass and it was superb . Vegetables were excellent so well cooked - not soft or hard - perfect.The young lady that served us throughout the evening was excellent . She helped make a really nice evening for us - Thank you . We will be back provided we can get a table lol

Went last Sunday for my 70th birthday bash,my daughter and son in law live in Clowne and have visited before but I did not know where my bash would be what a great surprise about a dozen of us were there great.Meals said by all top class starters mains sweets served very quickly all hot, how young girl served us all together was amazing great night great company great food good Italian beer if wanted wine very good price that good we are going again New Years Eve and many times more hopefully most of guests came from Sheffield but all would return.Well done Sandros heres to New Year thanks to all.

Visited on a Saturday. The restaurant was very busy but the service was quick, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is wonderful here. We enjoyed a superb meal, good quality food well cooked and presented. Definitely the place to enjoy first class Italian food.

Dined here in a party of 16. Food was great from steaks to pizza and pasta, everybody enjoyed their meal. Does not have a licence so bring your own which makes it much cheaper. Not the quickest service but worth waiting for. A good night was had by all.

My husband and I dined in here last night and were very impressed. It's byob which is always good for the purse strings and the food too was very good value for money. It wasn't very busy but this was no reflection on the food whatsoever! I had the aubergine dish to start and my husband the prawns with rice and both dishes were delicious! For mains I had the (traditional) lasagne and my only negative would be that it was a little oily but it tasted beautiful. My husband had chicken and mushroom tagliatelle from the specials board and that too was divine! Quite big portion sizes but I think that's quite normal for Italian restaurants to be fair. We will definitely be returning in the future and highly recommend Sandro's for a visit! :)

Sandro was doing his best to cater for the approx 10 people early Wednesday evening good value food. Had to wait a bit as he was multi tasking for all guests best he could. Food ok can bring own wine here so not going to break the bank! So good for a midweek feast take your own alcohol and you can enjoy good time with friends for not a lot. Sandro very affable and does his best to please.

It's such a refreshing change to find somewhere which is an authentic Italian restaurant. They don't seem to exist anymore. The food was excellent with a good range on the menu and also the special board. My husband had chicken tagliatelle and I had spaghetti marinara both were excellent. Also you can take your own wine.The staff were very pleasant and polite. We would definitely recommend this place. We will be returning very soon.

myself,wife,son and daughter ate at sandro's on spec, all had starters and different pizza's for main's all dishes very good."homely" food well presented and tasty . took our own wine and other drinks (called in tesco's) so good saving there.would eat there again we all agreed.only downside sandro? had the charisma of a turnip(hope it was just an off day!)

The food is always great here and very authentic, it's a one man band in the kitchen so if it's busy you can be in for a bit of a wait but it's worth it. You need to bring your own alcohol as they don't have a licence to serve booze. Worth a visit if you fancy a good Italian meal.

We eat here often. A homely restaurant with excellent home cooked food. Service is good. Portions are generous but not too much. Bring your own alcohol which makes it a very reasonable night out.

Excellent menu choice, main menu plus specials. We pre-ordered our starters and main courses as there were 13 of us. My Funghi Trifolati were the best garlic mushrooms I've had, and the portions of garlic bread were massive. I had Filetto Napoli for my main course, which is a fillet steak in blue cheese, brandy, cream and walnuts and it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really good, and the service was excellent. As you take your own drink with you, the bill comes as a great surprise as it seems so cheap compared to when you go to licenced restaurants.Will definitely be returning soon.

Never fails to impress. Top class food top service. Genuine quality that can't be ignored . You can pay alot more and get alot less.

Sandros' is a simple one room diner with minimal decor. There is no licence and so you are invited to bring your own wine etc, which is a definite pus. It has a reputation for authentic Italian food. Our starters were good even if my mushrooms were a little undercooked. However the main courses were disappointing. I had duck and it tasted so bad I had to send it back and Chose lamb inits place; it was worse. Others had chicken and were unable to finish it. The main complaint was that the food appeared to be re-heated from prepared catering packs. i will not be going back and Can't recommend it.

This is a little traditional Italian that should not be missed. I love Italian food - and this is the best I have had. The prices are all very reasonable. Everything is cooked fresh to order. I asked for something that wasn't on the menu - Vegetable lasagne, this was not a problem for them to cook at all. The bring your own alcohol policy is just excellent! They also offer a takeaway service where the prices are less then the eat in menu - this is also a great service that they offer! Well done Sandro's I will be back soon!

I live not too far from this place and have been several times. Good, individually cooked food, good value. Great change from all the chain places and fast food dives.Take your own alcohol. Nice guys who run the place. Definitely recommend choosing an Italian meal from the menu.

I booked this restaurant for my husband's birthday. It was a nice authentic homely restaurant. You take your own alcohol. We both had steak which was lovely and the homemade tiramsu was the best I'd ever tasted! Worth a visit.
