Sam's Riverside in Hammersmith and Fulham

Great food and service. Beautiful location

First time at Sam’s yesterday. I was blown away by the quality of the food; both the happy hour oysters and the set menu were exactly what I was looking for. Amanda and the manager (lovely Italian lady) were the perfect hosts, attentive and quick. Will be coming back very soon!

We are regular lunchtime diners at Sam’s Waterside in Brentford but as the venue was closed for a month we decided to book my birthday here. The decor is the same vaguely art deco but with a south facing super sunny view of the Thames path and Hammersmith Bridge. The restaurant clientele look very discerning being located adjacent to the Riverside studios and convenient for the Apollo Hammersmith venue so we enjoyed the buzz of a fully booked lunch venue. Our mussels starter was a creamy Indian inspired invention and made a real change from the traditional mussels a la crème. This was followed by the Hake which is my favourite fish dish plus the cheese soufflé with green salad. A problem here as someone in the kitchen had dowsed the lettuce leaves in salt which once consumed made us feel queasy as salt is an emetic and should not be thrown over a salad. It was served in such a tiny bowl that the contents spilled over onto the table. We had to leave the rest of our meal as we felt unwell. Sadly I’ve had the same experience at Brentford on 2 previous occasions so can only assume that the kitchen has acquired the same culprit. I can’t believe that Sam encourages this practice of over salting food. After a suitable break we enjoyed some ice cream with complimentary chocolates and a birthday card of Hammersmith Bridge but I think I’m going to say that I’m allergic to salt next time

As always, the visit to Sam's was great. Last night, it seemed very popular for birthdays, which was great fun since one of our party also had a birthday. The staff added to the fun!

Sam’s Riverside is a fantastic spot by the river, offering both great views and exceptional dining. The food was delightful—highlights included a perfectly cooked T-bone steak and delicious croquettes. The beer selection was impressive, and the wine list was equally well-curated. It’s a place I’d highly recommend and will definitely return to, especially to enjoy the outdoor seating during the summer months.

Came here on a busy Saturday evening, and was so impressed by the service and food at Sam’s. The service we received was second to none. Nothing was too much to ask for, from sampling different drinks to getting recommendations we felt like the only people in the restaurant (which was fully booked at the time) 10/10 would be back again. Plus super handy location if you’re watching a show at riverside theatre.

Ate here twice in 3 weeks during the Christmas period. Both times with large tables of 9 and really impressed with the teams on both nights. Once before Christmas and once after. So they’ve been going all guns blazing for the Christmas period and even now as things wind into January they are doing a great great job. Love coming here for great service, management, food and wine. See you soon

Very good food. Barman passed my barmen test: Sherry please. Barmans response: which would you like, I have 3. Had a pinot in the correct glass and it was excellent.

Fantastic service in a beautiful setting. One of the best burgers in London. Staff were warm and welcoming and attentive. Interior design is lovely and food is great !

My wife and I dined her tonight post theatre. The room is spacious and very attractive. Service was very good and everyone who we interacted with was friendly and professional. My wife had steak tartare followed by halibut. I had scallops followed by lamb. These dishes were really very tasty and nicely presented. For desserts we both had Christmas pudding souffle which were excellent! The setting is nice with views across the Thames. A very enjoyable meal and we will return next time we’re in this part of town.

Really lovely place. Service was friendly and superb. Excellent wine recommendation to go with Scallops and a Mackerel soufflé. Of course it is in a great spot for walks up and down the Thames. Recommended.

We had a wonderful lunch on the Friday before Christmas. despite the place being packed, we got great service and the food was excellent. Particular highlights were the mussels, gravadlax, and haddock souffle, but the puddings were also excellent

This was my second visit to Sam's and I was again delighted with my meal. My experience in the UK is that the prettier the room or location is, the worse the food. This is NOT the case at Sam's. Here you get to sit in a beautiful room with a wonderful view and enjoy great food and good service. Unlike most places, the tables are well spaced and the waiting staff are warm and friendly, whilst doing an efficient, professional job. It is also worth mentioning that prices here are fair and outside the Xmas period, Sam's does an all inclusive menu that is very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and the surrounding ambience. This meal was our Xmas celebration prior to going to a performance at Riverside Studios, next door. We enjoyed our day so much, I expect we will do the same thing next year! It is well worth schlepping to Hammersmith from South Woodford, for a meal at Sam's. We shall be back! They have a lovely private room as well, and I am seriously considering hiring that for my Birthday.

Was essentially booked as was handy for a pre show meal at the Apollo but wow this was an expected surprise! From the moment we walked in the service was exceptional, very personable, friendly not at all aloof or forced. Our meal was incredible, all courses superb, presentation, portion size and taste all faultless and in some cases absolutely sensational! The parmesan churros; venison; lamb come highly recommended. Whoever Sam is he or she should be very proud of what they have here and from what was initially really was just going to be "a quick bite to eat" turned into a truly memorable meal we will fondly remember in years to come!

I originally already given up on London restaurant, as I have bad experience on high prices with ridiculously bad service… But today it is my birthday so I decided to go and celebrate with myself and go to Sam’s, oh… but did it surprise me, with both service and food aline together, with really good staff and welcoming attitude that explain the menu and the questions I have on food, also with a birthday card… etc with all the little things adding up, makes it 101%. It gives you a warm feeling and I would definitely come back next time with some friends and family. With the meal, I have ordered Blue cheese Souffle with parmesan cheese churros, black chocolate Fondant and some red wine. If you haven’t been, I do highly recommend it. It definitely highlight my night especially it is my first years spending my birthday in London and at Sam’s, which I believe I have made the right choice. AD

Bread at £1 a slice sums up this restaurant. (Endearingly they warn you that you will only get one slice each when you order it!) Ordinary, but pricy, food with the usual smears of this and that to liven it up. Few wines under £50. Nevertheless it is immensity popular and buzzy, and the weekday lunch is better value than dinner. One understands the difficulty of hospitality post covid, but to be mean about bread says something fundamental about your attitude to your clients.

Great quality food, and a very affordable price. Highlights were the steak Tatar and the truffle and mushroom soup The decor was beautiful. And the service was fast and friendly.

We went last night to celebrate two birthdays. My friends had been before and recommended it to me . It was a fantastic experience from James on the bar to the whole team on the floor, nothing was too much trouble. Great food and a wonderful atmosphere.

The restaurant is in a lovely setting by the river and has a really nice atmosphere. The food was fine but not outstanding. The service was absolutely terrible and more or less ruined the evening. Many dishes were missing and we had to continuously ask and remind the waiter about orders which became rather stressful as it happened at every course. Would not return or recommend.

Fui a almorzar a mitad de semana. El personal era amable y el servicio era rápido. La decoración era preciosa y la vista sobre el Támesis es probablemente genial en un día soleado. Tenía poco tiempo así que pedí una hamburguesa con patatas fritas. Vaya. Soy el primero en decir que las papas fritas son papas fritas, pero estaban muy buenas, sazonadas perfectamente y probablemente cocinadas en grasa de ternera. La hamburguesa en sí era excelente - grande, muy sabroso y cocinado perfectamente con una salsa de mostaza tipo mayo muy agradable que no lo superó. En un bollo muy suave y fresco. Dado que pedí una comida que quería rápido y que ningún restaurante realmente debería joder demasiado, me quedé excepcionalmente impresionado con el sabor.

Super impresionado con el personal del bar donde cenamos. El servicio era rápido y sereno en el hermoso ambiente nocturno que tienen. Mi hermano estaba de visita desde Ghana y estaba tan impresionado por mi elección del lugar. ¡Gracias a todos!

Great little spot, food is good and good portions, it took about 35 min to come but once we got it it was great! Great atmosphere and most of the team were polite and helpful

We had a lovely evening at Sam's Riverside. The excellent fish dishes turned our visit into an amazing culinary experience. Staff was great - friendly, attentive and at no point intrusive, well done! Wish we'd gone there sooner, but now in a top spot of our 'Food gems' list. Until next time!

Amazing food and great service as well. I have had the duck croquets, grilled octopus and the lamb dish. All were fantastic!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendly and accommodating front of house. All the staff seemed to support each other as it got busy. We were made to feel particularly welcome on what was our first visit. The food was excellent.

We ordered a variety of starters and they all tasted great. The sourdough and Parm churros can be skipped. Mains were a bit disappointing. Haddock souffle was too heavy and there was nothing special about the steak. All the portions were a bit on the smaller side. The staff and service was amazing. The restaurant itself was a bit dim and loud.

Not sure if people’s tongues lack taste but the food here is so bland it really left a bad taste in the mouth. Have the chefs at this restaurant not heard of seasoning or spice, the food is uninspired, pretentious, and dull as dishwater. The lamb rump, served pink was tasteless, the red win jus and mint sauce was bland the vegetables bitter. The burrata was a lump of cheese with some celebrity around it. The side of chips ordered was also heavily salted to the point of insanity. Very poor, typical British “food”, and the price is absurd.

Can't fault the venue, great food, service and ambience. Definitely recommend.

We had a great late lunch here (very late we were delayed and arrived moments before the kitchen was due to close on a miserable rainy afternoon). The food was delicious, the service friendly and attentive. Considering how late we were it's a real credit that they managed to squeeze us in still so a big thanks to the team for that it was worth it!

We live locally and come often and just love the Parmesan Churros and the cocktail The service is always excellent and the food fabulous. Last night we had the raviolis which were absolutely epic!

Not as great as it used to be which is a shame, we used to love coming here but over time the food and the service has gone down to where I unfortunately can't justify the cost for what you get out of it. We went again yesterday and it may be our last time.

My favourite place to go for a Sunday pork roast. Delicious good wine from Portugal - Loureiro - the team is very friendly. Our Newfie is always welcome.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Sam’s and we made the perfect decision. We saw it before when we were around this side of the Thames. The food was amazing and we felt like we were ready to explode at the end. The drinks were good and they have a really wide array of wine selection and they helped us in matching the perfect bottle for our meal. To top the experience, their level of service and attention to their clients make them stand out from other restaurants. We’ll definitely come back to try their other selection.

Had lunch for 8 to celebrate a birthday. Everything was spot on. Great service - attentive not fussy . Great food. We all had different things and everyone agreed theirs was delicious. We had a semi private room which was very nice but has a glass wall that gave a great view but made sound quality a bit tinny. Not cheap but price justified by quality. Highly recommended.

Top service, menu of classics with a twist and fresh seasonal ingredients and nice atmosphere - cannot go wrong with Sam’s for a weekend brunch. And the Sunday roast is worth it

Very nice restaurant, along the riverside (which is very nice), with both inside and outside space. The staff was friendly and the service was perfect, nice atmosphere. I was here for lunch with my husband and we ate at a nice table near the window, with a view of the river. I had oysters (which were really delicious!! ) and the Cornish Hake (which was nothing short of amazing!!). Great wine. One of my favourite!

Beautiful elegant vibrant venue by the river side. We shared pork tomahawk and a carafe of Malbec to go with the meat. The cheese sticks were perfect. Highly recommended

Had the two vegetarian mains on the menu and they were exceptional. The crème brûlée was also amazing. Very friendly and efficient service too. Overall a wonderful experience.

Was my first time coming here as i was on a walk, i was greeted as soon as i came in and was served by Alex and James. very good service and quite prompt on making sure customers were happy and satisfied. I also noticed them taking care of all customers on the bar and spoke to everyone very nicely. would definitely recommend to come here and try the drinks. starters were amazing! would definitely visit here again with friends thank you very much.

What a lovely restaurant by the riverside. Greeting by the manager All staff were professional, cheerful and on the ball. We were not rushed at all. I had the mussels for starter, Plaice for main with green beans and a dark chocolate dessert. Everything was tasty so compliments to the chef, I was completely full. Will definitely return.

I chose Sam’s to celebrate my birthday and it was a wonderful decision. Lucia was serving us and she was fabulous, she really made the experience extra special. The food was also tasty and beautifully presented. I will be visiting again soon for sure!

Watch out for the sea food! Not only was it not fantastic (we ate around half as the taste was off), I was also up all night being sick. Service however was excellent.

Booked a table with a view for after seeing Shrek the musical at Eventim Apollo. The staff were so amazing at ensuring the experience for my 5 year old daughter and 7 year old nephew was special and they loved being treated like little grown ups. My nephew is still talking about how the server asked if he could ‘clear your plate for you sir’- calling him sir made both kids feel like they were being treated like adults. Extra care was taken to keep my nephew’s meal nut free. All the food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was exactly the experience we had hoped for for our special occasion.

We went to Sam's Riverside for my husband's birthday lunch. It was a great experience from making the reservartion right through to the meal itself. The team at Sam's Riverside are very welcoming and friendly. We were running late because of issues with the trains. I rang to say we'd be late and were told 'no problem and don't worry - we'll see you when you get here!' The food is absolutely amazing and they accomodated my coeliac disease brilliantly! Many of the desserts are gluten free anyway and they were able to adapt other dishes. There is a delightfully informal and fun atmosphere, but the team are professional and know their stuff! The other thing that shone through was that Sam's seems a very happy place to work. The team gelled really well and you could sense the camaraderie between them - a happy and smiley bunch! Well done to everyone at Sam's Riverside for making our lunch such a lovely treat! We will definitley be coming back and would recommend to others.

excellent meal last night, nothing at all to complain about, I had the most delicious lamb with different vegetable and started with parmesan churitos a must try.

Absolutely nothing to say about the cuisine and the service. Excellent, especially seafood. A big downside: restaurant much too noisy...you have to do something and quickly.
