Really really disappointing! Picked Sam's to host a surprise birthday drinks and we were made to feel like a complete and utter inconvenience. Sam's Riverside don't make bookings for just drinks for a large group (we were about 15), however after emailing and calling a couple of times in advance I was told to 'rock up' on the day and they'd be happy to host at their bar area. The bar and restaurant interiors are amazing and the wine and food were both delicious, but they were far from happy from the moment we walked in. After everyone arrived, (and not one person asking if we wanted anything) we asked to move outside onto the river and into the sunshine with our drinks and this seemed to stir up a real problem (even though it was empty). We were slightly passed from pillar to post and no one was actually letting us know if it was possible. We had to re-approach the team 2 or 3 times (all 4 or 5 of them seemed to be hanging around the till area together) before awkwardly being told we could 'only go outside if we order food' and 'we can't pull tables together or change the layout for you' We were fine with this. We moved outside and the lack of customer service continued. No one even acknowledged it was a birthday, apart from one lovely employee who had a smile, lovely energy and made a real effort and brought out a birthday treat. The rest of the team were only bothered about us ordering food and the approach was cold and uninviting. When we left the manager on duty didn't even look at us or anything close to what you'd call customer service. Really shocking! The sun was splitting the sky and apart from us, Sam's was quiet. I think we know why! Absolutely wouldn't return or recommend. The rude 'eye-rolling' between the team and manager was enough to make us up and leave. We were a party of 15, and if we'd been made to feel welcome, we would have stayed the entire night and spent a lot of money! There are plenty other nice places along the river so pick one of them!

The atmosphere is lovely, and the service is fantastic. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! I enjoyed some cocktails and light bites at the bar, which was suggested by Alex, one of the staff members.

A very pleasant place – we went there for lunch and ordered from the lunch menu. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful presentation, excellent service, and delicious food. They also have happy hours for oysters. I highly recommend this spot.

I cant recommend this place highly enough. A short walk from Hammersmith tube station, and situated in a quiet residential area by the river, it is a great location. Its spotless and contemporary feel also has a friendly and intimate ambience. Inside and outside are both great places to dine, with plenty of space between tables. The staff here are probably one of its most notable assets. Super professional and attentive, friendly without being over familiar, and always polite and efficient. We grazed on some super oysters and IPA whilst looking at the menu, and they were fresh and delicious. I had the beef tartare to start and my colleague had the mussels. Both were exquisite and good sized portions. For the main course, I had the Hake and my colleague had sea bass. Greay sized fish portions, but in hindsight I wish I had ordered some sides. Friendly tip to the waiters, they might prompt diners to do this as I missed them on the menu. The Hake was truly delicious, well cooked, perfectly presented and the sorrel buerre blanc was just perfect. 10/10. For pudding I had the cheesecake which was light and very delicate. My colleague had the mango icecream which was very tasty also. Great wine list, well priced and something for everyone. Super beer selection and great coffee. Really great evening

Great time by the river served by lovely bartender Alex. Delicious cocktails and nice atmosphere. Didn’t get to taste the food but will definitely comeback for the bitter sweet heart cocktail and some nibbles of the menu!

Food was impeccable. Service beautifully personalised and flawless. One major qualm: what on god’s green earth is happening with the bathrooms? I was directed outside of the restaurant premises into Riverside Studios’ bathrooms, which were doing a brilliant impression of an understaffed regional airport’s labyrinth of cubicles, polished off with clinical plastic doors and toilet roll strewn across the central aisle. Had to double check with a server that I hadn’t gone the wrong way. Tried three cubicles before I found one that wasn’t entirely blocked with [redacted]. It put such an absurd and unpleasant spin on what was otherwise a great success of an evening. Please remedy!

Great food and atmosphere, with superb staff who are very thoughtful. The Sunday roast was great as was the wine and dessert! Will definitely be back if in west London.

Nice card, reasonable prices. Delicious food, quality was more than fine. As a starter we had a tuna tataki which was very surprising. Very friendly reception and employees during the service.

Nice place to socialise and good food

Nope. Plenty of exciting places near this restaurant. Lacklustre service from door staff, waiters busy chatting to each other and dare I say it, the barman took a 5 minute break and came back having clearly been on the happy stuff. Not good, not good at all!

We had a truly wonderful experience at Sam’s Riverside yesterday, where I took my mum to celebrate Mother’s Day, as it’s celebrated on May 11th in Italy. Everything was simply perfect. My mum started with the burrata served with a beautiful selection of tomatoes, each one different and bursting with flavour. I had the scallops, which were cooked to perfection. For our mains, we both chose the ricotta and courgette ravioli, light, delicate and incredibly tasty. To top it all off, my mum was surprised with a vanilla ice cream dessert presented with a sweet Mother’s Day message. It was such a thoughtful and heart-warming touch. The service throughout was absolutely impeccable, professional, attentive and kind. A flawless experience from start to finish. We will definitely be back

A hidden gem of a place! The atmosphere was relaxed, design and decor was swanky and the staff was professional and friendly. And then comes the food which was amazing! The fat on the pork was rendered to perfection and I had what was probably the best crème brulé I've ever had!

Sam’s Riverside is a true gem by the Thames. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, with beautiful river views. The food is outstanding—fresh seafood and spectacular meats, all perfectly cooked and full of flavour. What really stood out was the courtesy and professionalism of the staff: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Perfect for a special dinner or a relaxed lunch. Highly recommended!

From the beautiful riverside setting to the perfectly crafted dishes, Sam’s Riverside delivers a truly memorable experience. The quality of both the seafood and meats was outstanding—each plate was full of flavour and presented with elegance. The staff were incredibly kind, professional, and attentive, making us feel welcome from start to finish. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right, but Sam’s Riverside absolutely does. Lovely place in an unexpected location. We have been to a Sam's before (Brentford), but I felt that this was far better. Great atmosphere, great service, and great food.

It's always a treat to go to Sam's. The food is top quality and portions generous, Sam is a wonderful host and the whole team make you welcome. One of those rare upmarket places that also feel completely relaxed.

This was our third visit to the restaurant. We enjoy the food tremendously each time, and the service is friendly and efficient. The setting is superb, right next to the river. This is a kitchen which is very capable and highly consistent. Update: two further visits with excellent food on each occasion.

You can enjoy your meal at this stylish restaurant while enjoying the view of the river illuminated by the setting sun. However, it can be painful and itchy to eat while the sun is shining directly on your face. Eating three full courses would be too much, so I chose two and it was just the right amount. After the meal, I was able to relax and drink water and enjoy conversation.

Our meal at Sam’s Brasserie Hammersmith was excellent. One of the members of our party had food allergies and the staff were very accommodating and made sure everything was safe, even while our booking was at a very busy time. Everything was perfect, the portions are generous but tasted amazing. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience at Sam’s Brasserie.

Really enjoyed visiting this place and dining here. I found the staff paid the right amount of attention by taking our order without rushing us. The steak tartar was really nice and well seasoned. Sadly, I couldn't do justice to the pudding as I was too full.

An assumed discretionary 13.5% service charge is ridiculous. Since when was 10% not reasonable?

Wonderful birthday lunch for my wife and I. No fuss, just a very reassuring menu with some classics and new twists, cooked excellently. A solid wine list, and very lovely staff. Thank you for being accommodating of our pushchair for our baby, too.

We decided to walk in to Sam’s Riverside as we wanted some drinks and we were sat on a table in the waiting area which was still quite nice and the service was just as good! We had 2 delicious Aperol Spritz then the sourdough bread and beef tartare which was absolutely delicious! Later we moved to the beautiful bar and we and the bartenders were lovely and super efficient! They were super helpful and gave great food and drink recommendations! We had quite a few different cocktails and all were top standard, we will definitely be back!

Cute place by the river. Food was tasty, I had the tomahawk and it was delicious. The restaurant has a nice decor and one can see the Hammersmith bridge but right outside there is a busy walking path that's a bit distracting and inside it was very loud so it didn't feel very relaxing. Everyrhing else was nice otherwise and the staff was some of the best.

After dining here many times we have found things have changed. Fatty beef, soggy over-salted Yorkshire pudding, over-fussy cauliflower cheese. Strange tasting espresso Martinis, service from one experienced server was as to be expected, the second server was new and it appeared to be thrown in at the deepend. And finally Amex is now no-longer accepted smacks of penny pinching when the restaurant and its prices attracts the kind of customer who uses Amex. Real shame since this is not what we had come to expect. And at £110 each for lunch, we found this to be unacceptable.

Went there with my daughter and we both had the best meal and dining experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant in its beautiful setting to everyone. Thank you Sam’s Riverside for making it a very memorable evening for my daughter and I.

Delicious food, good service and beautiful surroundings

Just shared an evening with delicious food, (could have eaten so many things, spoilt for choice), exemplary service, great atmosphere, fabulous wine and the best company ever! Whilst the company was nothing to do with Sam's the rest was. An evening that will be remembered for a very long time!

Restaurant not really dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed to eat or drink inside the restaurant. Felt a little cruel to me.

What a fantastic restaurant. From the moment we arrived the service was spot on, the room is beautiful and the food was 5 star. Try the chef’s amazing soufflés. The scallops were also cooked to perfection.

Lovely friendly brasserie on the river my 4th visit and never disappoints. The staff are very welcoming and attentive the food is delicious and the staff are willing to change anything if its not quite right. The brasserie has a great buzzy fun atmosphere and I can't wait to go again.

What a gem! Specially travelled for an exquisite dining experience which did not disappoint. Food was great, Jerusalem artichokes soup is one of my favourite dishes ever, it was even more amazing with walnuts added (my other favourite thing, I was in heaven!) Tartare and ceviche were good too Soufflé was nearly perfect, better than I ever had anywhere without a Michelin star. Good wine selection, lovely spicy Margarita. Great service Looking forward to revisiting with my husband Thank you so much guys for such a pleasant women’s day! (We may start a tradition now celebrating it at Sam’s ;-)

Another great meal at Sams Riverside celebrating one of my children’s birthdays. Service was charming, food great and ambience buzzy. I always choose a souffle when I eat at Sams. You would struggle to find them on the menu elsewhere because they are quite tricky to get right. And i certainly dont make them at home. I surpassed myself and had a savoury souffle (crab and gruyere) and a dessert one (rhubarb). Yummy

I went to see a play at the Riverside Studios. But wanted to eat beforehand. The food was fantastic. They had a poster happy hour. Staff were fabulous. Would highly recommend

Dinner Friday 28th feb. Dreadful first impression by the restaurant manger at the front door. Abruptly spoken to. You’ll have to sit here as we don’t have your table ready. No apologies or anything sat at bar to then be told by a polite lady your table is ready less than 10 seconds later. Sadly the manger and his attitude put us both off eating along with the pushy rush to finish each course table booked for 7:45 called at 7:30 to say we were running late and would be there about 8-8:05 which is polite to be called at 7:57 as we were walking over the bridge to check if we were coming. Very unfriendly and made to feel rushed. Sad as we had been in before and had drinks at the bar and returned to try the restaurant completely different vibe

The entire team was polished and everything was tip top BUT Lucia excelled !! From tableside manners to serving and attention to detail, not to mention picking up needs and wants whilst at the table. Flawless. The devilled kidneys and mackerel pate as starters were tasty. The rump steak in the mains was a bit chewy, but everything else on the plate Was perfect. Lucia noticed the steaks not being consumed and offered to replace with the Salmon, which was superb. Should have gone with that from the start .The burnt basket cheesecake rounded out the meal very nicely

First time at Sam's Riverside, and I was impressed by both the service and food. I visited on a busy Saturday night with friends and was immediately struck by the stylish decor. The standout was the service—special thanks to Thomas, who was genuinely helpful and attentive. The food was solid, with an excellent chicken escalope as the highlight. The drinks menu was impressive, though many wines were over £60, making it a pricey night. We opted for a more affordable couple of bottles, but it still came to £80 per head. Would I return? Yes, but I’d pick a quieter table—the noise was high decibel. For a date, I'd recommend lunchtime. ⭐ Service: 5 stars—Thomas set the bar high. 🍽️ Food: 4 stars—great mains and desserts, but some starters missed the mark. 🎵 Atmosphere: 4 stars— Beautiful decor and location ( look forward to summer and river views) Overall, worth a visit, with a few caveats.

This place continues to amaze with a very eclectic and original menu. It's out by Hammersmith Bridge so a bit of a hike from central London, but worth the trip.

As always, Sam's was a culinary delight. My choice off the set menu of kidneys, and the steak was scrumptious, if you can apply that word. And they still make fantastic Martini's. We took some local friends who have never been before and you now have two more devotees.Excellent value, especially the 2 courses plus wine for 2.Thank you.

First time at Sam’s yesterday. I was blown away by the quality of the food; both the happy hour oysters and the set menu were exactly what I was looking for. Amanda and the manager (lovely Italian lady) were the perfect hosts, attentive and quick. Will be coming back very soon!

Somos comensales regulares a la hora del almuerzo en Sam’s Waterside en Brentford, pero como el lugar estuvo cerrado durante un mes decidimos reservar mi cumpleaños aquí. La decoración es la misma vagamente art déco pero con una vista súper soleada orientada al sur del camino del Támesis y el puente Hammersmith. La clientela del restaurante se ve muy exigente al estar ubicado junto a los estudios Riverside y conveniente para el lugar Apollo Hammersmith, así que disfrutamos del bullicio de un lugar de almuerzo lleno. Nuestro entrante de mejillones fue un invento cremoso inspirado en la India e hizo un cambio real de los mejillones tradicionales a la crema. Esto fue seguido por la Merluza, que es mi plato de pescado favorito, además del suflé de queso con ensalada verde. Un problema aquí, ya que alguien en la cocina había rociado las hojas de lechuga en sal que una vez consumida nos hizo sentir mareados, ya que la sal es un emético y no se debe tirar sobre una ensalada. Se servía en un recipiente tan pequeño que el contenido se derramó sobre la mesa. Tuvimos que dejar el resto de nuestra comida ya que nos sentimos mal. Tristemente he tenido la misma experiencia en Brentford en 2 ocasiones anteriores, así que solo puedo asumir que la cocina ha adquirido el mismo culpable. No puedo creer que Sam fomente esta práctica de salar en exceso la comida. Después de un descanso adecuado disfrutamos de un poco de helado con chocolates de cortesía y una tarjeta de cumpleaños de Hammersmith Bridge pero creo que voy a decir que soy alérgica a la sal la próxima vez

Sam’s Riverside is a fantastic spot by the river, offering both great views and exceptional dining. The food was delightful—highlights included a perfectly cooked T-bone steak and delicious croquettes. The beer selection was impressive, and the wine list was equally well-curated. It’s a place I’d highly recommend and will definitely return to, especially to enjoy the outdoor seating during the summer months.

Came here on a busy Saturday evening, and was so impressed by the service and food at Sam’s. The service we received was second to none. Nothing was too much to ask for, from sampling different drinks to getting recommendations we felt like the only people in the restaurant (which was fully booked at the time) 10/10 would be back again. Plus super handy location if you’re watching a show at riverside theatre.

Ate here twice in 3 weeks during the Christmas period. Both times with large tables of 9 and really impressed with the teams on both nights. Once before Christmas and once after. So they’ve been going all guns blazing for the Christmas period and even now as things wind into January they are doing a great great job. Love coming here for great service, management, food and wine. See you soon

My wife and I dined her tonight post theatre. The room is spacious and very attractive. Service was very good and everyone who we interacted with was friendly and professional. My wife had steak tartare followed by halibut. I had scallops followed by lamb. These dishes were really very tasty and nicely presented. For desserts we both had Christmas pudding souffle which were excellent! The setting is nice with views across the Thames. A very enjoyable meal and we will return next time we’re in this part of town.

We had a wonderful lunch on the Friday before Christmas. despite the place being packed, we got great service and the food was excellent. Particular highlights were the mussels, gravadlax, and haddock souffle, but the puddings were also excellent

This was my second visit to Sam's and I was again delighted with my meal. My experience in the UK is that the prettier the room or location is, the worse the food. This is NOT the case at Sam's. Here you get to sit in a beautiful room with a wonderful view and enjoy great food and good service. Unlike most places, the tables are well spaced and the waiting staff are warm and friendly, whilst doing an efficient, professional job. It is also worth mentioning that prices here are fair and outside the Xmas period, Sam's does an all inclusive menu that is very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and the surrounding ambience. This meal was our Xmas celebration prior to going to a performance at Riverside Studios, next door. We enjoyed our day so much, I expect we will do the same thing next year! It is well worth schlepping to Hammersmith from South Woodford, for a meal at Sam's. We shall be back! They have a lovely private room as well, and I am seriously considering hiring that for my Birthday.
