Run down and a bit of a maze to get to our dull room. Double yellow lines outside of the hotel and all around. Found an overpriced car park and walked in the rain carrying our luggage etc., then found out we would have to pay excessive parking charges as we wanted to leave our car parked for our 3 day stay. Went there for our 60th wedding anniversary and stayed in Perth for under 3 hours! Huge disappointment and will not return there. Maybe a different hotel and part of the town would have been better for our needs? The hotel management was very understanding and professional and refunded us without any quibble. Seems that parking in Perth is very lucrative but visitors can not be happy with this. A young man who was delivering leaflets approached me and said " hey AMIGO do you want to buy any drugs" I am 78 yrs old. Cant blame the Salutation for these things but I can see why they would have problems in this area of town and the state of our economy.

Great vibes, super clean and some of the best desk staff I encountered here. Excellent location in a very walkable city. Property is old, no usb port in the room. Clean and well maintained I truly enjoyed my time in this treasure !!

Had the really good lunch menu and were impressed with the quality and quantity for such a reasonable price. Have been back since and likely will be a regular to revisit as the menu changes every day.

We got the Sweet Winter bubbly deal for 3 nights. This included breakfast, 3 course evening meal, bottle of fizz, chocolate bar and shortcake and coffee. Phenomenal Deal! We loved the character of the hotel, it's our kind of place. There was an open fire in the reception area and we sat there after our meal one night with the bottle of fizz. The staff were hard working and friendly, a credit to the hotel. The food was very good!! The room was on the small side but clean and comfy we slept well every night. Location is unbeatable, a stones throw to centre including Perth Museum 😀 we went to see Stone of Destiny and St Johns Kirk next to museum. We were invited into kirk and even invited to the service but we couldn't as booked museum. The kirk is impressive. Overall brilliant we would defo come back to Salutation!! 👍

Didn't stay at the hotel but had lunch a couple of times. Two courses for a tenner, extremely generous portions and great value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. 👏👏👏👏🤩🤩

This hotel is fabulously located in the city. And very historic. Potentially a great place to celebrate New Year. It would be unfair of me to make other comments here as we have made our views known to the manager, who listened with interest. Regrettably we will not return.

Stayed here for the Christmas week. Old hotel with old values = look after your guests. Very helpful and professional staff. The food was very nice (breakfast was especially delicious). The room/hotel were kept spotlessly clean. Located smack in the center of Perth. Highly recommend. 5☆☆☆☆☆

Came for the Christmas party night and was incredibly disappointed with the food. Was more like a school dinner and portion was very small.

Slightly dated room, bed a bit hard. Stayed in a Premier Inn the next night for less and that bed was luxury in comparison. I was in room 205 which is quite a tortuous rote to reach. Lift to floor 3 then through some doors and up and down to reach these rooms. The breakfast was pretty good to be fair, which brings this from a 3 to a 4 review.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room and the general condition does not match the quality of service and the quality of the pub. The sheets were dirty and the bathroom was dilapidated. The insulation was catastrophic... The location raises the rating.

Visited for lunch. They have a 2 course lunch special for £10. We had chicken liver parfait with oatcakes, chutney and salad leaves. Our main course was Featherblade steak with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and veg. It was all beautifully presented and everything was delicious. We will certainly return next time we're in Perth. Edit - we returned 2 days later and had an equally positive experience. I had leek and potato soup, the OH had smoked mackerel salad and we both had grilled haddock with a parsley and cream cheese sauce. All beautifully presented and delicious. We are looking forward to visiting again next week when we are next in the area.

This hotel is a bit dated, but very clean and rooms offer plenty of free tea and coffee, beds are comfortable. We went for a ballroom dance weekend; the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

Congratulations to all the staff for serving 140 people in under 15 minutes. Food was piping hot, choices were varied, scones and cakes delicious. The oldest hotel in Perth certainly met my expectations finishing off a pleasant day excursion from Ayrshire to the great city of Perth.

Very dark room. I filled in the service card left in room it was ignored. Mugs un washed just turned upside down the card was under them when left same place on my return on checking out I told receptionbut only given a 'look'. Curtains torn window didn't open. Food was fine in fact the best part of the stay. The hotel needs a mega revamp but please do it so the charm is not lost.

Not recommended hotel. Very disappointed. The rooms are not at all like they are suggested on the web site and in the travel guide. Very dated furnitures. So many corridors, steps, lifts, nearly a labyrinth. You check out by yourself.except the very central place, that’s it.

Love going to the Sally for lunch, especially the £10 for 2 courses offer! Always something lovely on there whether you fancy a starter and main or in the mood for a main & desert. Waiting staff are excellent and attentive. Highly recommended 👌

Just wanted to thank Rachel (events manager) for her help with the planning and organisation of our event on 3rd May 2024. As this was my first time involved with the planning her assistance and advice was greatly appreciated. The table set up and presentation was perfect and the staff on duty that night were really helpful and professional. Everybody in attendance (67 members) commented on how good the food was and the waiters/waitresses did a sterling job of getting everyone served. Colin (duty manager) went out of his way to ensure that everything went smoothly and was a great help on the night. This all made for a fantastic night and we will definitely be booking again next year. Throughly recommend 👌

Our third stay here at the 'Sally'. We travelled with our dog and one of our main criteria is a dog friendly hotel. The Sally delivers this in spades, all the staff are very dog friendly. Firstly, the room. We asked for a room away from the lift and the hotel gave us an excellent room, away from the lift but with easy access to take the dog out at night/early morning. The service: first class. Special mention for Colin (Duty Manager), Katy in the restaurant, Monica in particular but all the staff are really helpful; a credit to the organisation. There is a definite team ethos which comes from the General Manager down which is evident with everyone pitching in when required. Excellent ethos. Location: close to the river and two parks. Also close to the shopping facilities if required. All in all, a great stay (again) facilitated by brilliant staff that are just so welcoming and you can tell it is genuine interest they are taking in you. Thanks again.I

Fantastic place with wonderful service. I went there on a cold November day and ordered the most delicious caramel apple crumble to take away and they threw in some custard in a separate container. Lovely staff and a lovely shop.

Spending a week at Gleneagles in Scotland is nothing short of a luxurious retreat into elegance and charm. Known for its stunning grounds and top-tier hospitality, this iconic hotel offers an experience that lives up to its world-class reputation. One of the highlights of the stay is undoubtedly the breakfast at Strathearn Restaurant. Dining here is a treat for all the senses. The restaurant offers both an à la carte menu and a buffet line, catering to every palate. The selection is wonderful, featuring a wide array of delectable options. A personal favorite is the Scottish smoked salmon—rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The quality of the food is matched by the impeccable service, with the staff ensuring every meal is an experience to remember. Beyond breakfast, Strathearn continues to shine with its sophisticated offerings for other meals, making it a culinary destination in itself. The charm of the restaurant is enhanced by its elegant ambiance and interior, making every dining moment feel special. The facilities at Gleneagles are absolutely lovely, combining historic feel with modern comfort. Every corner exudes sophistication, from the beautifully maintained gardens to the beautiful interiors of the hotel. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely stroll or unwinding in the spa. I love the heated pool and it features both indoor and outdoor too. Gleneagles also boasts an array of activities and amenities to keep guests engaged, whether it’s golf on the renowned courses, falconry, or simply basking in the beauty of Scotland’s countryside. In conclusion, a week at Gleneagles is a blend of relaxation, indulgence, and adventure. The stunning facility, the exquisite dining at Strathearn, and the warm, attentive service create memories that will linger long after departure. Highly recommended for those seeking an unforgettable Scottish getaway.

We had dinner at this place in Pitlochry and had a good choice of dishes, both meat and fish, and also vegetarian. The menu is mainly Scottish, but there are also some burgers and pizza. We chose Scottish dishes, all excellent and plentiful. The service was very friendly and efficient. With a starter, a main course and a beer each, the cost was £26-27 per person, excluding tip.
