Salty's Beach Bar & Restaurant in Pembrokeshire

I'll start with the positives! The service was prompt and the food was plentiful and delicious BUT and a very big BUT for any coeliacs! I ordered gluten free roast beef Sunday lunch and my partner ordered a normal roast beef. When it was delivered to our table our waiter checked who the gluten free option was for and I told him it was for me. After delivering our mains, he brought over our sides. One of the side dishes was cauliflower and cabbage (?). When I dished up the cauliflower, I noticed a very small thin sauce in the bottom of the dish, making me wonder whether it was meant to be cauliflower cheese! I queried this and lucky I did as it was not gluten free even though I had not been aware of the fact! As a coeliac, if I had eaten this, it could have made me very ill!!

Great location, £18 each for fish and chips that was ok, but I'll go the chippie next time I'm there.

Had a lovely meal at Salty's on 11th October. The lamb rump was probably the best meal I've eaten and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious. All reasonably priced as well. I'm looking forward to our next visit when we return to Tenby.

The food was perfect, would definitely recommend.

Lovely team (Lilia & whole team on shift tonight), amazing food. We visited whilst it was dark but imagine the beach views are lovely!

We experienced a dog launch at our pup and staff were quick to move us which we really appreciated. We ordered the tomahawk steak which didn’t disappoint if was amazing. Would recommend a visit here.

Dogs not welcome! Tolerated, but zero customer service given and owners made to feel like third class citizens. Would not serve any food or drink to us (no coffee or cake), told they don't serve until 17:00, but other tables were still ordering and receiving food & drinks.

Great setting right on the beach and absolutely delicious local seafood. Service was a little slow but acceptable based on how good the food was! Will definitely be back!

We were visiting Tenby and saw Saltys on South beach. There was a chalk board outside saying open so we went it. We asked for a table for drinks so we could look at menu. The member of staff seemed pleased to say that it was closed until 6! Strange as the door was open and the sign said open and there were people in there. Wouldn’t waste our time trying here again. Lots of great bars just a few mins walk in town

Great staff and service. The location is just about as good as you can get. Right on the beach edge. Good food and good wine, although I was disappointed that all Chardonnay had been taken off the menu. I understand it's because people weren't ordering it, but Daryl went out of his way to triple check whether there was any left. He was great, really friendly and knowledgeable. We had a lovely evening. Too busy for my liking in the day time, but perfect for an evening meal.

Turned away from making a booking for the following day. Told rather abruptly to book online.

3rd visit here and we love it even more. The food is delicious and the staff excellent. They are so accommodating and lovely.

The restaurant is beautifully located along the coastline, which is why my friends and I decided to dine there. We took a bit of time to make our decisions, but the staff was patient and helpful throughout. Our food was served quickly, and the portions were generous and delicious. Wonderful place right on the beach of Tenby. Food was fantastic, Service was great, squeezed us in as we were a walk in. Sea bass was beautifully cooked and the burger is recommended. Childrens menu gives good portions and looked nice and was tasty. Chicken supreme was delicious. Lovely place 👍

Superb seafood restaurant located right on the beach. The food is excellent and all the staff are friendly. The manager on shift really accommodated us and our 2 small dogs. Would definitely recommend!

I got the fish and chips and a pint. Service was okay, a bit off and didn’t really feel wanted. The fish and chips were greasy and just tasted of the oil they’d been fried in. The fish was also a bit mushy. Disappointing for the price. I wasn’t asked about how my meal was, had I been then I probably wouldn’t have left this review. Maybe just an off moment/day, but I wouldn’t go again.

We were a really large party of over 30 with ages ranging from a few months to vintage years! From booking to ordering and the food arriving we received impeccable service. The food was outstanding. Nothing felt like it was too much and all the staff were attentive and friendly. If you are in Tenby this is a MUST visit. Thank you Salty’s see you next time xx

Very friendly lady sat us down but then nobody came back to even see if we wanted drinks. Wasn’t busy in the slightest. Feel the menu should have a mini fish and chips for the kids as so many visiting. We ended up walking out. For something so focal and right on the beach, feel they could do a lot better.

Visited here yesterday for a couple of drinks. Lovely view of the beach. Sat outside and was told that we might not be able to move back instead if it rained. Thought this was fair enough as would probably get busy. It started to pour, the wind was terrible and we both got soaked - even sitting underneath an umbrella. I walked inside to ask if we could move inside due to the extreme weather - loads of tables free. We were refused and had to finish our drinks shivering outside. I was shocked! A lovely spot but was so disappointed at the lack of hospitality/flexibility.

Lamb was not on the lunch menu but we were enticed in by the lovely looking lamb dish. Despite this the chef cooked us the lamb dish for lunch and it was amazing!

Claire & Michelle’s service was friendly yet professional. Both brought a smile to the table to ensure we left with smiles. Excellent 👍

Very disappointed. Bookings were available all day, we booked for 5, showed up at quarter to only to find the place all closed up. 2 dozen customers waiting outside whilst staff ignored them. What would have happened if i booked for 4.30? Wouldn't be so bad but it was a hurricane outside, so we all stand there getting pelted by sand, rain and wind. Nice to get all dressed up for a meal out eh? Once inside it wasn't much better. Staff were uninterested. 1 bloke taking orders, apologies for lots of menu items being unavailable. Starters were OK, hake was good. Sat near the kitchen and watched the chef call for service of our mains despite our starters still not being cleared away. Take one plate away and get another dumped in its place. Nice relaxing meal?? Both had mussels, which only served to display how terrible portion control was, 2 completely different sized meals. Bland mussels and a chunk of bread. No cutlery provided apart from a spoon. What do I spread the butter with, the handle? Took a knife and fork off the next table One kid had adult menu Salty burger, the other had kids menu burger. Both ended up with exactly the same meal, only one was twice the price. Kids burger was over seasoned for a child, boy wouldn't eat it as too peppery - i could only agree with him tbh Didn't stay for pudding. Paid the uninterested staff and left. "Everything OK with your meal?" Yeah, whatever. Been twice now, won't be back.

Unfortunately the business was happy to turn away all customers this afternoon with no excuse, no smile, and no suggestions of where else to go for a drink. We used to love it here but i’m sure a lot of people will no longer come back after today.

Really disappointing and uninterested service provided over the phone 12 of us are wanting to book a table for New Year’s Eve so I called to enquire about a reservation. I asked if they was open and was advised yes I asked if it was a set menu and did they have an approximate price of last year and the The reply was we need to get through summer first and he wouldn’t have a clue how much -no offer to call us back or enthusiasm at all. I seen the 3.9 rating and thought I would give benefit of the doubt. I was made to feel as if I was a nuisance not a genuine customer I’ve just called an alternative restaurant who couldn’t confirm prices but did provide the cost for last year, offered to reserve a table called me back with last years prices for a guide and agreed to call me when they finalise the menu.

Avoid until the wait staff get sorted out! Visited today with the family. Ordered the plaice, fish and chips and a child's chicken burger with a side of season vegetables for our 1 year old. Had to stand to get attention from the wait staff to place our order and then the large waiter got our order wrong. Put us down as a sea bass which apparently takes 40 minutes to cook (every person with a 1 year old knows you don't want to be waiting 40 minutes). We said it was the wrong order when it arrived and the food was taken away with no explanation or expectations of what was happening. The family proceeded to eat their meal lest it go cold. After another 20 minutes waiting (now and hour and 15 in the restaurant) we said to cancel our order and went to leave. My correct order turned up as we were trying to leave and the restaurant would not allow us to cancel and wanted us to pay the full amount for a dish we'd not eaten and no longer wanted. In order to just get out of the place I paid 50% of the price. I'd be having my bank reclaim that if I could as I've ultimately been forced to pay for something I didn't receive. I'm disgusted with this place and the overweight portly waiter who messed up our order and then lied to say he'd read it out to us. If he'd done that we'd have corrected him there and then! I'm hoping this review catches the attention it deserves and the place pays attention. If you want good reviews have good staff and get rid of the bad ones!

My partner and I came here to eat for our date night. The food was nice, but portions were quite small, especially for the price. Even after having starters and mains, we were still willing to stay for pudding. We asked for the pudding menu but it never got brought round, so we thought it was best to conclude our meal without it & we got ice-cream afterwards. The location is great and it was nice to dip out feet in the sea right after our meal, but overall the experience was lackluster.

We visited here twice during our holiday. Both times the service was terribly slow and some one staff member was rather moody and made us feel uncomfortable. However the food was great and plentiful.

Food was nice but staff were odd. We were a big group so we pushed two tables together as we'd seen another big group do that. The staff didn't mention it. Suddenly the manager came over and said "Can you separate the tables as they're two different table numbers." We moved the tables, but on reflection we thought it was weird they asked us to separate the tables that were next to each other anyway? They just wanted a gap between them? They didn't question the table opposite which was 2/3 tables pushed together as well. We're a big family, obviously on holiday with 2 young children and they thought it necessary there was a gap in between the two tables. Just weird.

Great lunch in Salty's, very welcoming and accommodating

Salty Staff! Sent back a burnt piece of fish, got attitude from staff. Poor atmosphere, not friendly or welcoming. Staff hovering looking sulky. Ruined the meal. Thought it would be nice to sit by the beach but should have gone elsewhere.

Decent food let down by understaffing leading to slow service and an ironically ‘salty’ exchange with one of the waiter’s. Having been offered the child dessert menu as an option by a very lovely waitress (who could see we were adults) our waiter then refused us the child chocolate brownies, along with our adult dessert orders. We’d already spent £220 on mains. Slightly surprised by the irate response to our request. This meant we decided to forgo any desserts at all, save ourselves another £50 and vow to never return. A shame really as up until this point we were happy with the food and resined to accept the staffing issues.

Turned away for food after a long walk to the restaurant. 14.45! It said on the website 15.00hrs, clearly this is not accurate.

Absolutely shocking service. We will never go again . Over an hour between starter and main course, then when we asked how long it would be, we were asked to leave! Dreadful customer service. Starters were OK but couldn't comment on main as we never got the chance to try it. We were warned as we sat down there were some delays but over an hour between courses without explanation is disgraceful. I would not recommend ever!!! Avoid this place.

Such a shame that my visits to here will cease. Great location and usually great food but such poor considerations of customer comments. I am a local resident of Tenby and visit Salty's very often especially with visitors in view of location. Today I only wanted 4 cappuccinos but were served with 4 cups of hot milk with no taste of coffee and after pointing out our dissatisfaction to a waiter we were given a small jug of black coffee which made little difference to the flavour. On leaving I pointed out to the manager that the quality of the drinks very poor, could not be considered as cappuccinos and as only 2 were consumed suggested that I should be charged for only 2. I was told in no uncertain terms that I had to pay for all 4 coffees costing £15 as they had supplied what was ordered and with additional coffee. Despite pointing out that I was a regular customer and felt that their decision was inconsiderate as, what they supplied could not be considered as cappuccinos, they refused to listen to me. I paid up in full but vowed never to return and would in future spend my money elsewhere.

Great fresh lobster, cooked to perfection! Amazing attentive and friendly front of house. Would definitely recommend.

Good range of food options and healthy portion size. Fish selection is great and presentation was good. About half of the menu can be made gluten free however this is not clearly marked on the menu, a big improvement would be if they did this. Outside seating has plenty of space and beachside views. Large umbrella's dor shade or can site inside. Takeaway miniature restaurant next door

We've visited Tenby a couple of times. But this was our first time at saltys. Great location with views over the beach. We went for dinner and the seafood selection was great. I had the pan fried Cod with the alioli and it was amazing. We'll definitely be visiting again, when we're next in Tenby.

Every place has an off night and it is just a shame we experienced Sally’s on a particularly bad one. I booked online for a seating at 7:30 for 4. To be fair we were told when our order was taken that there was a backlog in the kitchen and there might be a wait. We were on holiday so no problem. Drinks came and starters not unreasonably arrived about half an hour in. They were fine. My scallops were a little rubbery, and son 1’s bruschetta looked as if someone had been heavy handed with the balsamic but it was a solid start. And then we waited. When I realised multiple tables ahead of us still had not received their mains at 9pm it was clear the kitchen was in trouble. The waiting staff just looked like they wanted to run and hide. By the time our food arrived at around 9:30 I was past it. As were my family. Which is a shame because what came was good. Best fries I have had in ages. A good lobster Mac and Cheese. Not cloying but perhaps needing a bit more salt. To be fair the mains were comped in the end and the poor woman in front of house told us this was only her second shift. She looked lost for words. Salty’s has a great location. Was buzzing while we were there and all the makings of a great local. We hit a bad night. Probably worth a second go if we were not holiday visitors.

Staff were overworked and took a while to get to us. Muscles were good but everything else was average at best. Priced high for what you get but it's a convenient location

Ridiculous waiting times! 40 minutes for a starter is beyond unreasonable and food was nowhere in sight for another hour at least! There was barely anyone in here yet the speed of service was abysmal. Finally, 9 pounds for 3 small slices of toast and a small jar of smoked mackeral? you can shout inflation all you want but that is just a mockery. Staff were nice at the table but didn't make eye contact or ignored when we tried to get their attention for anymore drinks. Overpriced, Snails can serve faster, portions for a medieval dwarf. Not coming again and will advise anyone who will listen to do the same. You need to do better!

Myself and my wife dined here over the weekend and the food was phenomenal. We dine regularly and love the new menu (the mussels are to die). We can't wait to try more of the new dishes!

Delicious meal, located on the beach. Car Park next to venue. Highly recommend this restaurant for food. Will definitely return on our next trip to Tenby. Excellent selection of seafood, beautifully presented.

Great Venue on South beach. Visited daily while on vacation in Tenby for a week on my morning walk for a Coffee. Ate twice in the evening and enjoyed their food and hospitality. Great seafood selection. Presentation and service was excellent. Perfect location on the beach.

Various people saw us waiting and were stood around but didn't come over to seat us. Our table when we were seated hadn't been cleaned and the service thereafter was slow or not available. Team when bringing items were smiling and friendly but they were not apparent most of the time. Asked for the bill but went to the till eventually as didn't come. Bathrooms need new seats and someone was stuck in the first cubicle as problem with door and it took 3 people to get it back open. Get the impression that they don't feel the need for effort because of their location.. wouldn't go back.

Had lunch there today and was very disappointed when I asked if I could have French fries instead of mash potato and was told no. Unless I paid extra for the French fries!! They are not allowed to make changes. The ladies toilet was not checked regularly and the toilet seats are scratched. Very disappointed.

Fab restaurant on the South beach in Tenby. There is a car park 100 yards away. The restaurant itself is clean and well run. Staff were great on my visit. I had mussels which were well presented.

Eaten here several times before and been consistently happy. Significant deterioration in standard of food today, minute portion of cod ( I've fed my cat a larger portion!), gritty mussels, a poor ribeye steak with half a mushroom and no tomato and a tastless chicken salad. All of which were overpriced. We voiced our views and were laughed at by waiting staff. A paltry 10% discount was no consolation for a very bad experience. Sorry ...but we won't return.

Amazing locally sourced and high quality food for reasonable prices. Friendly and inviting staff who will go above and beyond to deliver a quality service. Location is stunning with sea views and cosy settings.

Great location, with such a lovely view of the beach. Great service very fast and efficient. Amazing food too. only downer was there were lots of staff and not many customers and felt like we were being watched whilst eating our food and felt rushed as they kept looking over to see if we finished food Otherwise perfect

Absolute awful experience of a place that Apparently had the best reviews. Food was swimming in oil and apparently 2 of our family had lobster which was nowhere to be seen - manager just gave us £10 off the dinner even tho a complaint was made and half of us ended up sick within a day or two - must be friends reviews with the 5 stars or we went there on a bad day !

Sorry no photo's I was enjoying myself so much.; needless to say, it's a wonderful place, very clean and stylish. Tables aren't too close, so it's easy to move around and you're not be knocked whilst eating etc. Dog friendly both inside and out, so no problems if the weather isn't up for sitting outside. I thought the cost for the level of food was appropriate and the choice of food was very good; food was cooked to order and the kitchen is visible.

After hearing many great things about the place I must say we left very disappointed. Chicken burger was quite bland and everything fried was very greasey and tasted of dirty oil. I only ate the inside of my fish which also had no taste. Sadly I would not go there again or would not recommend

Lovely evening meal at Salty’s. We had the Lazy Hen burger and a butterfly chicken. The food was very tasty. Our service was relaxed and friendly which created an enjoyable experience. The restaurant was busy and the staff worked hard to service all the diners.

The food was most enjoyable but at 24 Pound for our meals we certainly expected more than 3 small potatoes cut in half, 6 small beans and 9 sugar snap peas!!!!!! This was served with a salmon filled and a butter sauce. Husbands meal the same except he had Sea Bass. A complete rip off. Service wS slack

Lovely location and food was very good. Would have liked a little more on the menu but my hake burger was delicious. The outside seemed a little wasted as heaters would have made this much better maybe some music as well. Would recommend.

Called in after a long walk on the beach with my wife and dog. My wife had Lobster for her birthday and I had salmon, both were fantastic. Fresh and crunchy vegetables lots of butter, Mmm I could eat it again 😍 Madri on tap too 🍺🍺 Spot on

What a joke.. still shambolic service 2 years later.. walked in on Sunday afternoon, we only wanted a drink .. I'm not sure who the gentleman was, he told us it was table service only, we said we would like to sit outside, so we did.... found a nice table, then we waited, and waited and waited ..then we left enough said.. It's not really worth the review.such a shame 😕

Such a shame, the place is lovely! And so is the manager in the coffee area. BUT .. the service in the bar area is up there with the worst I’ve ever seen (this is the first Google review I’ve done in years which shows how bad it is) The waitress made us feel terrible about taking our three year old to the toilet to start. And then when our other son (that has Downsyndrome) wanted the toilet too, she locked the door. The level of rudeness the showed us was incredible .. it must have taken a lot of effort. The coffee shop and manager next door is lush though, and thankfully she let us use the toilet behind the tills. I

When we first came in it was great and as we sat down we ordered a couple drinks, cane shortly, then the service was extremely slow as we waited around 25-30 minutes just to order our food! Then the starters took maybe 15 minutes which was not too bad, then we had to was for at least 50-60 minutes for our food! While we were waiting for our food one of our party members went to ask about more drinks, when we were ordering more drinks we got asked to not move around? We also wanted to get more roast potatoes so we ordered some and 15 minutes later we get told that theres no potatoes… but we still got charged for the potatoes… that we didn’t eat? Overall i wasn’t happy with the experience.

Great position, right next to a lovely sandy beach. Unfortunately we were told the outside tables/area was closed, we had to wait to be seated even though there were plenty of tables inside. We only wanted drinks and when we ordered were told they weren't serving ANY hot drinks and had NO draught beers so we had 2 small bottles of Peronni at £4.60 each. There was very little atmosphere and the staff seemed pretty miserable .This place could be soo good if only run/organised properly - such a waste.

Had the hake starter and the cod main course with lemon butter sauce, it was the best fish I’ve eaten in a long time! Staff were great as well as the service

It’s half term and sunny so the restaurant was busy. I know they were short staffed but an explanation before ordering would have been helpful. Long wait for food. It’s all pretty much cooked from frozen so very average and overpriced. Dog friendly.

My new must go back there place. Lovely location, food, drinks, service and atmosphere. The garlic baguette and olive's snack was perfect with a pint or even more. Highly recommended Salty's.

New Years Eve 2023 was made perfect by Salties. The staff were brilliant, helpful, attentive, friendly, fun, just perfect. The food was extremely tasty and the presentation was spot on. Thank you Salties.

Me and my family came for a big lunch during the Christmas period, and had the loveliest time! We were a big group with elderly and they were so accommodating and patient, made for a great meal out for all of us! The food was lush and would definitely recommend to friends and family ☺️

It is a lovely dog friendly restaurant right on the beach. Booked for four, and we all really enjoyed the food. We had lots of different dishes so we could share them and they were all full of flavour. The staff were all chatty and you could have a good laugh with them. Thankyou for a wonderful evening.

This was our second experience of eating Sunday Dinner at Salty’s and once again the food is absolutely outstanding. The gravy is the star of the show if you select the beef and served with perfect Yorkshire puddings. I personally thanked the Chef, Lee, and his team and will certainly return on our next visit to Tenby

Pork belly was cooked perfectly, the beer battered fish was enormous, great location and very nice atmosphere.
