Saintear isn’t perfect, but the welcome is warm, the food is good and the portions are generous. And the location is amazing. Good enough for me.

I really don’t know how to praise Saintear Bistro enough! From the minute you open the door you are met with the most genuine, friendly welcome! Immediately you feel at home. It only has a small menu which varies daily but it’s choices is more than ample to satisfy everyone. The first lunchtime we had the most wonderful tiger bread toasties. So we just had to return and on the second day we had a homemade pizza, their dough was the best I have ever tasted. I thought when it was first served I would have no chance in finishing it, oh how wrong I was, it was easy!! My husband had the special, deep fried chicken strips in an orange sauce served with wonderful fried rice. Again delicious and so easy to eat. Saintear is absolutely faultless (except I wish it was local), everything they do they do right! It really is a first class eatery and such an asset to Westray. Thank you Rebecca & Co. at Saintear, we can’t wait to return. If visiting Westray do not miss out on this peedie gem. 😊

Fabulous local smoked salmon and a wonderful tomato and pesto toastie followed by the most amazing cakes. Even better than the food (although it's hard to imagine anything better than what we had!) was the delightful service. We'd go back in a heartbeat. Thank you!

We hired Saintear to cater for our parents Golden Wedding party. Rebecca and Andrew could’nt have been more helpful and accommodating to our requests and last minute changes. The food was absolutely delicious - especially the honey sesame chicken. We also managed to pop into Saintear for a coffee and cake during our trip to westray and the cafe is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. Highly recommend.

I spent 2 nights at the Sands while on the island for work. The staff were super friendly, helpful with any thing I needed and the food was amazing (I’m just finishing off a stair pie that is just the hearty food I need after a long day of photography) Would recommend and will definitely come again if I’m lucky enough to return to this beautiful location.

Overpriced. Vastly overpriced. £6.45 for a pint of Heineken. £6.60 for a pint of local Ola lager from the Orkney based Swanney Brewery. These are prices one would expect to pay in a big city in the South of England, not on an island at the top of the North sea. Food was passable but again overpriced, £16 for a bacon cheeseburger. Service was okay, staff seemed decent enough but to have three working behind such a small bar on a quiet Thursday night appeared excessive. Not sure how many were labouring in the kitchen but perhaps their overstaffing is equated in their exorbitant prices? Better food, drink and service available at cheaper prices elsewhere in Kirkwall and Orkney generally. Best avoided if you have any care for your wallet.

Convenient and central but too expensive for this type of rooms and establishment.
