The meal came out too fast . Luke warm . Had to send it back to reheat . Been many times but tonight was dismal . £35 . Not with it

Called in on New Year’s Day . Been using sagar for Indian food since it opened about thirty years ago . I have noticed of late that the overall quality of good and portion size seems to have dropped off . As with the service . Apparently you can’t order a few starters and poppadoms to share unless you buy a main meal . We spent £35 on various starters and drinks between the 2 of us and was only there 45mins . That would do anywhere else I would think ! Not impressed sorry .

Xmas day, decided to try something untraditional, came Xmas night for an Indian family dinner, food was exceptional, service was fantastic, nice relaxing atmosphere, would highly recommend to anyone & we will certainly be attending again, Thanks to all the staff who were working exceptionally hard,

We have just visited today for our Christmas Day meal and we couldn't fault the service or the food! We went as a table of 10 and the staff were just so well organised in terms of serving food and drinks with no delay. The food was delicious! We will definitely be returning and this is our new favourite Indian restaurant!

Despite having had a couple of takeaways from this restaurant we hadn't eaten in the restaurant for a number of years. We were meeting family who enjoy Indian cuisine so decided to visit Sagar. The waiter was really helpful in helping us decide on our menu choice and the food itself was delicious. Would highly recommend.

8 of us visited as part of my 60th birthday celebrations. (hard to believe I know). Everyone ordered something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. My partner had the sea bass which was exceptional. Staff as always were really friendly and if you’re in this area I would recommend this restaurant. It doesn’t look much from outside but the food and the welcome are great

Our 3rd visit on Sat since July - great food once again and great service my sons favourite restaurant now Was busy but we only booked in on the same day and still got a table huge portions had to take home a doggy bag

Haven’t been here since way before Covid but thought we would give it a try , sadly didn’t impress. Meat cheap and tough and all four of us had different curries but all seemed the same. Would only say passable but maybe will not be returning in a hurry.

I cannot remember the last time I went here but it was many many years ago. I took my youngest son out this evening as the rest of the family were out and he loves curry. I must admit I did read the recent reviews before I went to make sure it was still good and it didn’t disappoint. We were booked in at 7pm and we were shown to the bar area to wait but they came straight over to take our drinks order and a couple of minutes later we had our drinks and the menus. They took our order at the table and then 5 minutes later we were shown to our table. It was a Sat evening so expected it to be busy (we had booked just in case) but the service was really good. We had chicken pakoras (I only got 1 my son ate the rest he loved them think you got 5 in a portion) and onion bahji (you got 4 of those) and 2 poppadoms each with the pickle tray. My son had a mild chicken tikka masala and I had chicken tikka saag both with pilau rice and there was loads we brought home the curry we couldn’t eat!!! The bill came to £48 (my son had 2 diet cokes and I had a lime and soda) We will definitely return with the rest of the family Thank you for a lovely experience

I don’t usually do reviews but had to put one here. We went with friends to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The Sagar is such a lovely place to eat, catering for all tastes including vegan. The food was excellent and the service really good, friendly and helpful. Fab place, will defo go back. What a find!

Sometime since I last reviewed Sahara but quality as good as ever. I ordered the Lamb nagar as I enjoyed it so much the last time. I was a little concerned in case it wasn’t as good. I needn’t have worried; it was delicious ( not for the faint hearted. Loads of meat in just the right amount of sauce. This establishment is way ahead of other Indian restaurants. No wonder our daughter always insists we go whenever she comes up

Take away was ok. Starter poppadoms, tasty and dips ok. But the lamb in the main tasted cheap and rubbery to me. Prob wouldn't go back.

After eating here when it first opened 35 years ago, I recently went to a friends's surprise party at Sagar and it was lovely. I have had a couple of takeaways since 1988, but not eaten in since the start - and I will definitely be going back. The food was lovely and the service great - would recommend for sure.

Visited on a Saturday night as restaurant is conveniently located just off the motorway on route back home. Hadn’t booked a table but we were attended to straight away. Food was delicious and service really good. Also reasonably priced and vast menu choice. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent food and service and reasonably priced. This may be our new favourite Indian restaurant. I advice booking on a Saturday night as gets busy.

This place has a vibrant atmosphere. It was absolutely heaving when we went. The place was spotless - including the toilets. The staff were attentive and pleasant and despite being rushed off their feet, they took time to explain the menu and being helpful and...

We’ve been coming here monthly for the last 10 years and it’s one of the best Indians we’ve ever been to. The staff are friendly and welcoming and they always go the extra mile to make sure we are happy with everything. Highly recommended

Monday night wet and miserable. Sagar cheered us all up with their fantastic food and service Weve been going to all the different sagars and all serve the perfect meal.

Ordered home delivery, arrived on time ,first class food ,can not fault. Only one problem is that the bill that that was provided did not add up to the cost charged i.e slightly more.I understand that this may be due delivery charge, but no mention...

Had a lovely meal with family, thoroughly enjoyed our curries. Particular favourites were the chicken balti and chicken rogan Josh! Also the naan breads were lovely :-) Will definitely be back :-)

Visited the restaurant with three friends 4th March 2022. When we arrived we were going to sit down and have a drink before our meal but the waiter told us the table was ready and literally marched us to our table, he was very rude....

Absolutely loved the food, chicken was soft, very tastey, my favourite Indian restaurant! Bill came upto £40 for poppadoms ect.. 2 starters, 2 curry's, 1 chips 1 rice, 3 drinks. Definitely worth it! - Thank you. Covid-Just one little thing, shouldn't all menus be sanitized after each customer? - noticed that we used 2menus after use they got put on another table where then customers was seated? Just curious due to seeing other restaurants sanitizeing menus or using ones that are paper then for bin once used.

We visited last night and had some wonderful food, I had the chicken chat and then the lamb nawabi, both large portions and cooked to perfection, very big pieces of lamb which fell apart with a lovely sauce,Good attentive service and a nice pinot grigio, Everyone loved their choices and I would really recommend it

Food was absolutely excellent, piping hot and cooked from fresh. Meat was very tender. The service was prompt. None of the staff smiled and didn’t seem happy. This is an area for improvement.

Hadn't been for a few years so were eager to see what it was like now. We had the Lamb Bangla, lovely soft melt in the mouth meat but could have been slightly hotter (although that's personal preference) and Modhu Murghi which I was thought might be slightly too sweet but the sauce it was served with balanced the dish beautifully. Also had keema rice and peshwari naan which were very good. Will definitely go again.

I brought my friend for their birthday it was a quiet mid week evening but none the less still atmospheric the meal was amazing I can not recommend the lamb naga enough for lamb lovers like me definitely worth a visit this is the best curry house in Preston

Had a takeaway that was questionable as to what it was! One dish was king prawn rogan josh and I'd be hard pressed to identify the main event as prawns. I cook a lot with fresh frozen prawns. When fresh they have virtually no odour and when cooked have a delicate firmness when bitten. The Sagar prawns smelled of rotten fish and were chewy beyond imagination and inedible. On a positive note the rice was good and the nan bread was great but sadly this doesn't make up for a dodgy curry.

Excellent meal. We had our usual starters of popadoms and chutneys which were very tasty. As we like to share what we have for mains, our choices turned out to be superb as they all looked different and interesting - and tasted good too!

This has got to be the best curry I’ve had in a while if not ever. Came on Valentine’s Day with my partner, the flavour and spices are absolutely bang on, just enough heat for me. Service was excellent, drinks arrived within 3 minutes of arriving to ordering to receiving, starters arrived as I took my last bite of poppadom, then mains 5-10 after finishing starters. Brilliant restaurant, will definitely come again.

Great food.. amazing naan bread. The lamb dishes were great ... the naga, the bhuna and the karai were awesome. Highly recommended. Desserts were good too

This was our first time at Sagar, it looks uninviting from the outside but is pleasant inside, we booked so had no issues with getting a table although it wasn’t packed out on Sat 21st Dec. We were seated in a nice enough waiting area and offered drinks and given a menu to look at what waiting for our table which took around 10 mins. The staff were ok but seemed rather bored and disinterested, the poppadoms came quickly but the mains took a while, it was worth the wait though as they were very nice. The night almost ended in a long walk as the local taxis were fully booked till morning however we walked for 5 mins and saw a 125 heading into Preston and so managed to get into Bamber Bridge in only a few minutes and it was cheaper than a taxi, we will probably try the bus there and back next time. We will be going back.

Visited Sagar 21 December 2019, there were 10 adults and two children. When originally making the booking it was for 18-21 people, we were waiting for confirmation. On the morning of the 21 December I rang to confirm the number of 12. On arrival we were seated in reception and given menus to look through, we also ordered drinks. We were then approached by one of the managers saying this booking is for 21 in a rude and abrupt manner, I reminded him of my call. We were led to our table where there were popadums and pickles on the table. We all proceeded to eat our meals and have a good laugh and enjoyable evening until it came to paying the bill. We all agreed to pay our own, so each couple went up to the desk and paid what they owed. I went up to pay mine only to be told in future they didn’t want this to happen again, we needed to pay separately and he accused some people in our party of not paying for some of the drinks they had. The rude man in a blue shirt just kept pressing his calculator saying you owe this much, then he changed it again. It was getting very embarrassing as I was stood at the desk where other people could see and hear him accusing us of not paying for some food/drinks. He actually sent me back to the table with a pen and piece of paper to itemise everything we had all eaten and still he wasn’t happy and said there was £8 outstanding, his manager told him to accept the £112.00 we were paying and forget the other that “no/one was admitting to!! “ Have to say those in charge were rude and very ignorant, just seemed interested in the money and not anyone’s feelings or opinions, they actually made me feel like I was stealing from them and it was embarrassing.Thank you for spoiling my birthday evening out.The waiting on staff and those that brought out the meals were lovely people, very polite, attentive and couldn’t do enough to help. Maybe management should take a leaf out of their book!!It will be a long time before we visit again if at all.Louise

Fantastic takeaway! Despite living a couple of miles away I haven’t visited for years and years. Just don’t see what’s under your nose.....well first visit of many to come I think! Ordered Samber chicken - ready in 15 minutes to collect and was delicious. Will definitely be returning

My wife & I spent three nights in Preston, Friday 15th November, Saturday & Sunday. Our hotel (Holiday Inn Express) recommended The Sagar when we told the the staff that we liked Indian food. We are both vegetarian, and were catered for beautifully at this place. The restaurant itself is very warm and welcoming, the portion sizes were extremely generous, and Hussain and the rest of the staff looked after us so well with attentive good humour on the Friday night that we ate there again on the Sunday night as well! I cannot recommend this restaurant too highly. When next we stay in Preston (this was our first time) we shall certainly be eating here again. Five stars, and many thanks to all the staff there for two most enjoyable meals on those evenings.

Visited here with family and had a great meal, service was prompt all food hot and fresh with great flavour, value for money was also very good, was a little surprised by only a 3 star hygiene rating but it didnt seem to effect quality, I would visit again either way but would be nice to see the rating upped to 5 star! As the good would reflect that anyway!

Not been for a while. Revisit very welcomed as usual. Popadams we mix them and have two spicey and two normal. Main course Khari very flavoursome as always. See you soon guys.

Visited with a friend for dinner and wasn’t disappointed, the popadoms and pickle tray was more than enough for 2, I had the chicken samba while my friend had the chicken madras, both with pilau rice and a naan and it was all nice and fresh. Would definitely return.

Group of 11 went from work. We had typed a list of everyone’s choices, prices and total to pay. As soon as we arrived we offered the list and straight away the staff weren’t happy we wanted to pay separately!! We paid for our drinks at the bar so as not to complicate things.

Went with a friend to this place and worth the effort. It must have been over 5yrs since I last ate here and had enjoyed my meal then.

We go to Sagar Premier on a regular basis, never been disappointed with the service & food. We tried other Indian Restaurants and Take Aways but we always come back to the Sagar Premier. We regularly will take friends and family with us and they are always impressed.

This is a large restaurant which is light spacious well decorated and appeared very clean.

Very good Indian restaurant ,was very busy the night we were there but still managed to give quick and polite service .The food was lovely ,they are big portions we ended up taking loads home .Would recommend for groups andd couples

Mid week party booking so very few other customers. Attentive staff who dealt with GLUTEN Free needs. Had to be reminded a couple of times and items removed from plate. Otherwise very tasty and enjoyable meal .

We do visit the Sagar occasionally and use it for Takeaways, it's always extremely good and the service is excellent.

We love going to the sagar. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food is always good and always prompt. We even nip down for a cheeky take away!!!

We were visiting our family for the weekend and we treated to a takeaway from here! Lovely tasty food, not overly priced and staff were really helpful and friendly. We would definitely visit here again and would like to eat inside the restaurant 10/10

Don't live in the UK and always like to have Indian food whenever we are over. We were surprised, but happy, that there was a table free on a Friday night. Service was good although a bit over bearing as for each course we were asked 4 and 3 times respectively about the food. 3 of the starters were not great. My puri was either too stodgy or not cooked so I left it. The main courses came and when I did say that my tandoori chicken was too dry and I couldn't eat it the response was "oh OK"! The only great thing was the quality of the naan breads. Also, there was a disabled toilet but it was loose on the floor. Overall, not a great experience.

Sagar has amazing food and very welcoming staff. Good variety of spirits and lagers and ales. Food is spot on and they will accommodate your neegds dietary wise. My 20 month old daughter loves having her chicken tikka masala on a Friday evening. Family run restaurant. Highly recommended

I'll keep it short. First visit and it won't be my last. Seated quickly, drinks ordered, no fuss, no rush. Ordered food, starter and mains. Both dishes were delicious... It's as simple as that.. If you like Indian food in a modern environment with excellent service, this is the place for you... Oh and value for money, excellent portion size... All in all.. Excellent.

Every time we have been here the food has been fantastic. The service is great and we always feel very welcome. The food is just as delicious from the takeaway option also. Would definitely recommend the Chicken Rogan Josh, it is absolutely divine!

Not been here for quite awhile, food is always good. We had ventured to another establishment but had a 25 min wait for a table before seeing the menu so we left. Decided to go to Sagars so glad we did we had the Sunday special which was£12 each person and was the best food I’ve eaten in ages. It arrived within a few moments everything served was hot and tasty. The staff are professional and courteous. I can’t praise it enough they have had a recent refurbishment which makes it look pristine. Had a really enjoyable experience.

we returned to the Sagar after not been for a while for a birthday celebration meal. We chose mixed kebab starters which were fine, but the main dishes were somewhat lacking. The South Indian Murghi was bland, tasteless & fatty, no spices - inedible, a huge disappointment, the Biriyani was not up to previous standards with a few bits of fried chicken and a very 'soupy' , hardly any vegetables in sauce!

Family visit (3 generations aged 2 to 71!)to Sagars for my sons 40th birthday. Swift attentive service, drinks and menus quickly brought and orders taken. Bhajis, meat samosas and chicken tikka were all excellent starters with crisp salad.

We went to this restaurant yesterday evening for an impromptu meal with the husband yesterday evening. We didn’t book but this was no issue for the restaurant who accommodated is no problem. The food was tasty, the service was good and it was reasonably priced

since beocming vegan its hard to find somewhere which i feel confident fully understands what a vegan diet means, but at Sagar the staff seem to kow what the score is - both times ive been this year, ive had the menu explained, and all the vegan options highlighted.

By far the best curry house in the area. The lamb dishes are always amazing, with good quality lamb. The staff are always welcoming and very efficient. When the restaurant is busy they still manage to find tables for everyone and get takeaways done really quickly. Been going here for years and would recommend to anyone!

Hadn’t been here for a while, so just went to this restaurant on Saturday night on spec as we had not booked anywhere. No problem getting a table despite it being fairly busy. Good food, friendly staff and excellent service, what more could you want.

The food here was brilliant although the staff were very average. Just took your order and that was more or less it. Also there was a problem with the ventilation... I think as the restaurant was very smokey. Smelt of cooking all night

With such a extensive menu, I wish I had had more time to select something new. However, I had their biriani which was pretty good. Starter tasted fresh. Service was friendly and prompt. I’ll be back to try something else next time.

I look forward to eating at the Sagar as it has never let me down. The standard of food and the friendly service keeps me going back. When you look forward to a nice evening out you don't want to risk going somewhere where you might not enjoy; so I keep coming back here.

Tried a new dish called Behari, with lamb- it was just what I had in mind when I asked for something rich with flavour and a little spicy but sweet, complemeted by the fresh peshwari naan & pilau rice. We attended with a large group of friends & some ordered vegetable rice which looked great, will keep that in mind for next time.

We recently visited another great visit. The food is always great. The restaurant has a good atmosphere very good and we will be going back.

Llegamos y el chef en el aparcamiento, el director era un hombre miserable que te hizo sentir que todo era simplemente demasiado, y hubiera una sonrisa para nadie. El servidor de la comida no ni idea de qué era cada plato, no es bueno cuando alguien con una alergia de la tuerca, que lo convierte en un derecho para un grupo y rigmorole básicamente no hay ambiente o clientes, que no es sorprendente dado el servicio. La comida era terrible un plato de gambas que consta de 3 gambas y pollo promedio pequeño 4 - 5 piezas.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this Indian Cuisine specialist restaurant for a mid week dinner, With only a few other diners we were spoilt by the extra attention given to us by the waiting staff. We ordered the pickle tray and popperdoms for a starters and my wife ordered the Goan Salmon with vegetable rice while I had the Balti Chicken Tikka Masala with rice. We both shared side dishes of chick peas and aloo gobi potatoes.
