Only a 2 stars for me , unfortunately I called in an order for pickup for chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. When I got home it was a different type of curry.dark brown. It wasn't bad in fairness just not what I asked for. But the garlic naan was dry and hard . almost like store bought. Not sure about the place in general but for my first time it will be my last 😔

I ordered a chicken Dansak my husband ordered a chicken Jalfresi.Both are curry house staples.My Dansak was bland though tolerable. My husband‘s Jalfresi was utterly disgusting. He brought it back up later that evening. Pity. Derry could do with a decent curry house.

What an extremely shocking experience. The chicken tikka starter was dry and the seasoning wasn't cooked through leaving the chicken coated with powder. The 2 different curry main dishes I ordered came exactly the same, both had no sauce and could be described only as a stogey at best, the chicken was over cooked, tough and chewy. The pilau rice came as boiled rice and as for the garlic naan with extra garlic it wasn't even naan bread and had no garlic. The whole meal went in the bin as it was totally inedible! Honestly folks if u fancy Indian food look elsewhere, go to Chilli's!!!!

Had Saffron for outside catering for my wife's 40th birthday party at home,it was a great experience iy took the stress out of organising food,all the guests loved the food and was great service from start to finish would highly recommend, thank you Suki and team.

Has to be the worst korma I have ever had, I have never known a korma to be spicy. We couldn’t even eat it

I ordered their sagg chicken and chicken jalfrezi, both medium hot. Along with their nann, chapati, rice and poppadoms. EVERYTHING was so nice. I will definitely be ordering again. Thanks.

Ordered at 5.06 delivered at 7.26. phoned after an hour an half and the woman on the phone said the food was out with the driver. The driver said that this was untrue and that he brought it from the restaurant within 25 mins. Needless to say it arrived luke warm. Currently heating it up. Phoned a second time at 2 hours. Guy on the phone this time. Found him a bit rude. He said "Most people don't mind when it's over 2 hours late because of this bad weather". Well I'm sure some people are more easy going than me but to say 'most people don't mind' is a bold statement. He tried to phone the driver but couldn't get through. Makes sense now because the food was probably still sitting in the bag at the restaurant. I don't know where this guy on the phone lives but clearly not Derry. Could be up to Belfast and on my way back after 2 hours. After I said I'd give it another 15 mins or I'd be requesting a refund the food showed up. First and last time I'll be eating here. Even if the food good. Food: Onion bhaji very very good. Lamb makhan was amazing. Never heard of it before and was really good. Garlic nan was not good, probably because it had sat for so long. Jalfreza and chicken tikka was nice. My first Google review because I'm so pis*ed off. Normally wouldn't bother.

I’ve ordered food in their website for collection on 27/11/2022, they have an unreliable website, order didn’t go through and needless to say, they have taken money out of my card. Then I phoned and they confirmed that they haven’t received the order at their end, they said they wouldn’t claim the money as well and eventually it would be refunded to my account. But today I’ve noticed that they have claimed the amount and marked the transaction as completed. I don’t know how can they claim an amount which they didn’t receive an order for. Shame on them.

The food was okay in taste. Didn't really dig the sauces provided with the mains. The staff was nice though.

Nothing but garbage. Chicken biriyaani was the worst I've ever tasted. chicken curry was nothing but Onion tomoatto sause. How on earth these people are running a business in the name of Indian restaurant I don't understand. Biriyaani should have spices like ginger, garlic, corriander, mint, green chillie, cinnamon,cardamom,turmeric, cumin, nutmeg, star anise, bay leaves etc....I could not smell nothing, not a sinlge spice. I wish I can teach these so called restaurants how to cook reall Indian food. These people are frauds who make money in the name of food. Its not about money but about quality. Shame on the people who are running this third class business. Never cheat people when it come to food. I wish they read this review. If this same food would have been served in India...their business would have been shut in 24 hours. People who know what is Indian biriyaani, chicken curry will never order food from this third class Restaurant. Nothing but garbage.

The food was good but i asked for spicy and it wasn't really spicy. Other than that, everything was great.. the food and ambiance as well the service. Beautiful 🥰

We went to have a dine in @4.45pm just after they opened. The food was below average and the lady staff in upstairs served us was very rude. She is behaved very unpleasant and there is no smile on face and hesitate to serve the dishes including water. Not keeping any attention to the customers in between (just only one table there to serve, all other tables are empty ). And it's too expensive as well. Totally dissatisfied and unhappy!! Never recommend again!!

Truly dreadful We ordered the food at 6.15pm. It arrived at 8.20. We rang several times and we’re told it was on its way on every occasion. The food finally arrived and it was absolutely freezing. Not bothered to call again and ask for a refund, they wouldn’t give it anyway. I’ll just not ever be back and move to another Indian take out. What a waste of time and money.

Excellent restaurant, can't fault it

I'm not traditional in any sense nor adventurous but I have always enjoyed saffron b4 it was saffron .I believe they where once India house from Carlisle Road.their food is as reliable as rain in our wee corner of this planet.my own personal favourites are their vegetable samosa as one of my sides and for main medium massalla sauce ,chicken shaslik , basmati rice finished with their chips that are probably the finest in the town.

Seen to right away and shown to our table. Very relaxed atmosphere and we were all very happy and comfortable with the staff and ambience. Good portion sizes and beautiful tasting food!!! 😋 I forgot to take photos before we all tucked in as the smell was too enticing

The positives are that we were happy to dine-in just about everywhere. This place seems popular but have to agree with previous reviewers on the food. It’s not Indian but Indian-like. Bland and definitely not cooked properly. Had a dessert and coffee which was also a mistake, cheesecake was old and stale.

The food is good, not only do they taste like authentic indian cuisine but the serving is huge as well. Definitely worth it. The ambience of the place is nice as well.

Saffron is easily the best indian resturaunt in derry food is outstandin. Have to say the the sukis kitchen brand sold in the shop is very disappointing. I bought the jalfrezi sauce and was expecting the same jalfrezi sauce from the resturaunt but it was nothing like it. Just like a cheap sauce similiar to a tesco brand only it was expensive for what it was. Wasnt happy 1 bit. Still givin 5 stars cause saffron is so good

I have eaten indian food all over the world and this is probably the worst Indian meal I have ever eaten, Onion Bhajis, hard as a rock, the chicken was tough and the sauce was way too over spiced. So hot we couldn't eat it. Expensive meal, went straight in the bin...

Horrible food. Waste of money. Please do not cheat customers giving rubbish. Ordered prawn karai which was sweet as they have used cheaper supermarket jars of curry sauce which were made for Europeans. Chicken moghul was just marinated pieces of chicken (over cooked and like a paste) with over poured yoghurt. We are Asians and know the taste of Indian food. Yesterday we had the worst ever Indian food at Saffron. Very disappointed. You are insulting Indian food and Indian Chefs. I am sure that those food were not at all cooked by an Asian. You ruined the image of Indian food. Waiting staff are pleasant and doing their job. It took more than an hour to serve the mains. Place was busy as many who goes there do not know the taste of the authentic Indian food. People please dont go there. You will be just wasting your money...

Awful costumer service tonight which really let them down because the food was lovely if they can't handle crowds they shouldnt book so many at the one time!!!! So disappointed will not be back an time soon

We visited as a group of 4 in mid-week. The place is clean and inviting, but not much else. The staff are friendly and try their best, but in general, the service was slow and inadequate. We had to ask for things multiple times and received an extra drink that had not been ordered. To top it off, they had run out of poppadoms (?). Overall a pretty average place.

Nowhere close to tasting like Indian cuisine. I'm guessing they must have used ready curry jars from supermarket. I ordered 2 curry and a chicken biryani. Both the Currys tasted the same and exactly like the curry jars and the rice quality was not good. I'm an Indian and I know how it should taste like. Felt cheated.

Ate here while my husband and I were on our honeymoon and it was delicious! We ended up sitting at the bar chatting away with the owner and bartenders. It was a night we still talk about. Both the food and service were incredible!

Best Indian in Derry. My family like Indian food I'm not a great or should I say wasn't!! When I order or ask for advice on how spicy the food is, they are honest, if I ask for it to be made with my diet specifications it's never a bother. Suki is very pleasant, he does the cooking as well as being down at the front, meeting greeting customers as well as working with his staff and doing what has to be done. A place which hasn't disappointed me or others.

Best indian restaurant experience in Ireland yet! Food and ambience is upmost quality. Spacious as well. Finding a parking spot is difficult though. But its worth the food experience. If you're in Derry and looking for indian food. Do visit!

Had our first ever take-away from Saffron last night - 27 Nov. Two mains & two sides, £15. It was fantastic. The flavours, quantity & quality all on point. Its possible they may have upped their game as some of the older reviews aren't great and comment on poor sauce and meat quality. We honestly couldnt fault it. Very pleasant man on the phone when ordering also. Would definitely order again in future.

Friendly staff and amazing food

We popped in here for a takeaway after 10pm on a Saturday night. The staff were lovely. We had excellent advice on dietary requirements and were invited to enjoy a glass of wine while the food was prepared, which was a thoroughly pleasant experience. The food was delicious.

Staff friendly but food was a very big let down, the vindaloo said get ready for fire! My child eats hotter curries - very little taste apart from sweetness which wasn't from tomatoes! Was not eaten, they did however offer to replace my dish but the moment had passed, take away pizza on the way home.

I really enjoyed our meal last night, we arrived without a reservation and managed to get a table within 15 minutes. Staff were very nice. Food tasty. Definitely worth a visit.

Not impressed, I ordered vindaloo and it was so sweet as it should be really hot, so as madras it was so sweet as well. No flavour it was not great at all.

By far the worst Indian iv ever had anything out of no flavour to the curry looks like it was threw together an it was swimming in grease.

The staff was very attentive and kind. They were efficient and professional and cleared our courses in a timely manner. We appreciated the free starter, which was a puffed rice cracker with three sauces (jam, sweet and sour, and yogurt). It was the best part of the meal. We did the meal deal which came with a starter and a main. My sister ordered the chicken tikka and bhuta, and I got the samosa and jalfreza. We were satisfied with the starters but the mains left a lot to be desired. They tasted exactly the same though with a slight difference in heat levels. They were also oddly sweet. Their chips and chapati were good though.

Ordered a mixed kebab. £13 and the chicken was quite clearly the pre cooked sandwich type you get in a packet, that had been marinated. I'm not sure what the other meat was inside, some sort of lamb i assume. It was the same cylindrical shape and colour as pepperami, and was clearly out of a packet as well, I couldn't even eat it. I highly doubt the pitta bread was freshly made, not much taste off it and was greasy. If you want a kebab then my advice is go to your local kebab shop, it'll be twice the size, twice as nice, and half the price 👍

this is a lovely well priced Indian restaurant . contemporary for sure, spacious comfy seating, wine bar and handcrafted cocktails, modern interior, table service was excellent, no dowdy indian music etc, v high end and tasty. naan bread was lovely not dry at all, all levels of spice available. def recommend.

Went for a important birthday party a few weeks ago, can't fault the food, but we waited an hour and a half for our main course, which was terrible service.

Really nice food. Its different to what we're used to but it was nice. Wife had a mango cocktail which she loved. The place was spotless and the staff very friendly.

Second time here, really enjoyed it again! Service was really good, I'm sorry but I missed her name. blonde with glasses and local. She was fantastic, no over the top smarmy over the top humor or politeness just natural at her job. Thanks very much for making our evening without the kids. I had the lamp Vindaloo which was across, the Mrs had a masala and a house cocktail and we had two beers. All enjoyed and came in at a smidge under £40. Can't beat that. We will be back again! See you next time!

Fine Induan cuisine, highly recommended.

My partner and I ate here the other night, and although the staff and decor were great, the food was not. I would’ve excepted more from an authentic Indian restaurant. I had the chilli chicken and the sauce must have been made from either a jar or a packet as the peppers and onions were raw and clearly contributed nothing to the dishes flavour. My partners dish was equally disappointing.

It was delicious, attentive staff, too bad everything was absolutely too spicy, I ate forcefully because of that because it was good. Halal chicken is great!

Good offer on the they websites. The staff very friendly and helpful.
