Saffron Indian Restaurant in Watford

Went with my two sons for birthday celebration. The interior was beautiful with lots of wooden carvings. The food was very nice and portions are good. Lamb briyani takeaway came with a separate portion of vegie curry. Very nice indeed.

Excellent food, excellent beer served at the perfect tempurature and excellent service. Overall the best experience we've had for a curry in a long time, highly recommend. P.s got a free birthday ice cream 10/10

We love Saffron. You always get a warm friendly welcome from long standing staff / owner. High quality food with good sized portions at reasonable prices. One of our favourites. Well worth a visit.

En principio hice de escuchar de los demás, la comida es genial y sin duda puedo decir que el pollo karahi y langostinos son divinos! Got takeaway from here because it had good ratings on trip advisor, warning to anyone reading it genuinely is horrible food I don't know if they have had a new chef or change of hands since these people went here but the food was inedible.

After travelling several hours from South Wales, and an extra hour in city traffic, a hot, fresh, authentic curry was just what we needed.

We are an Indian family who sometimes can't be bothered to cook so will get an Indian takeaway! Food is always authentically good!

We were in Leavesden for 2 nights mid week and wanted to eat out. Decided to to Saffron after reading reviews about how good it was. On a Tuesday evening we had 2 courses sharing a naan and a rice with drinks came to £35. I had anjur gosht (lamb with fig) was amazing. My partner had the chicken rezala. Both great dishes. Service was great. While we had the choice of were to sit on a Tuesday, I can imagine at the weekends this place would be full and that would be no surprise. If I am ever in Leavesden again I would certainly be eating here.

Found whilst visiting Warner Bro studio recommended as best Indian in the area, food was good with great flavour and heat and nann bread was light and tasty. Would go back again if in this area. Si and Sue

We decided to give this restaurant a try after reading the reviews on Trip advisor. What a lovely little find. Our whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. The service from all the staff was so attentive. The food was delicious and the peshwari naan was amazing. Would highly recommend this place and we will definitely return the next time we are visiting the area.

I googled places close to where I was staying, and the reviews on Tripadvisor made me try this restaurant.

We were in the area after visiting friends a few miles away, and decided to complete our trip with a visit to Saffron. We have eaten here before, but not for some time. And just as before, we weren't disappointed. The staff made us feel genuinely really welcome, they purposely went out of their way to add that little personal touch to all the diners. There was a great atmosphere inside, and everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves, as much as we did. The dishes were bursting with flavour, and presented really well. I can't praise this restaurant highly enough. Highly recommended.

Some of my family members rate this among their top ever restaurants! There are a couple of its dishes to rave over, apparently. One is a spicy Paneer curry. For me, with a much more conventional taste for delicately flavoured foods and Kurmas, Saffron also offers a few tempting meal choices.

We now have this as our regular Indian Restaurant, it is so friendly the food is great. Even if we can't get there and order a take away the service and food is still great. Would highly recommend this place as the best Indian in Watford.

We were staying at The Grove on a golf break and wanted to eat outside of the hotel, this restaurant is only a 5 minute taxi ride so looked ideal. We went on a Sunday evening and it was very quiet but the service was very good and friendly. Food was excellent they were able to do a chicken tikka madras and the lamb chops were very tasty,good size portions and all dishes were great. We had a bottle of house white and red and can recommend both and finished off with 2 French coffees. We will definitely be back in September when we are back at the hotel for a conference. Anyone staying at The Grove will be impressed with this restaurant and excellent VFM. Many thanks.

I've been eating at Saffron for many years, both in the restaurant and more often than not take away. I like to think of my self as a bit of a curry conasure as it is one of my favorite foods and have been to countless different restaurants all over the country. Saffron is right up there with the best.

Lovely meal, very tasty and good service. We are visiting from the north and decided last minute to pop out to our friends local curry house, we all enjoyed our food, thank you.

My friend and i visited tonight and had yet another amazing meal. Their flavours are so fresh and authentic and the quality of the dishes is outstanding. I had the Chicken Karahi which i have tried at many others restaurants and none have matched the dish here. My friend asked for something that had previously been on the menu and Jib and his team were only too happy to prepare it for her.

Lovely food and brilliant service. Went out of their way for my boys. Highly recommended. Food was hot and very fresh on arrival. My child decided he didn't want what he ordered so waiter adapted meal to his tastes without any trouble. Will visiting again very soon.

This was an awful experience.We have eaten in this restaurant several times with very good and not so experience but our experience last night was nothing short of the worse in terms of service,attitude and meal lacking in flavour and presentation.I will only focus on attitude and service.

Just had a takeaway delivered from this restaurant. We like Indian food as my husband loves spicy food which I don't, but I love the flavours in the milder dishes. How disappointed I was to find that every single item I ordered was totally bland and tasteless! I could have been eating cardboard and even after adding extra salt it was still tasteless! The only taste from my garlic naan was the burnt pieces. I hate wasting money (£40) on food that I can't eat and we will never order from here again!

Always visit when I can, and if I can't, I always order a takeaway. Food is always second to none, and I'm never disappointed. Love ordering the chicken tikka, portions are huge and I am always left feeling satisfied. Great place to come with family or friends, the owner is always happy to help and recommend the best drinks and dishes.

ordered lamb jalfrezi which had about 4 pieces of lamb, had much better before.. plus when i called to inform them, they implied that i must be lying.. so not good customer service.. wont be ordering from this place again..

Had a lovely meal tonight at Saffron Watford with my Husband. Really nice service, professional and attentive. I had Goan Fish curry which was very nice. Chunks of white fresh water fish with a little kick of spice, Other half had Chicken Dhansak, his favourite which did not disappoint. Pilau rice very fragrant and delicately spiced, garlic nan red hot and fluffy and all washed down with large bottles of ice cold Cobra, perfect! Thank you Saffron and thank you also for chasing down the road after me with my cardigan that I left behind. Respect.

As a newly engaged couple we decided to have our last date night at Saffron. To our pleasant surprise, not only was the food incredibly tasty, but it arrived quickly and the service was second to none. We spent longer than planned soaking in the friendly atmosphere and the manager took genuine interest in us. We cannot recommend it highly enough and are going back again very soon!

We came here for a family meal on a Friday night and as expected it was busy. Our orders were taken quickly with the only gripe being the pace of service from then on. But with this taken out of the equation the rest of the experience was very good.

Small Indian restaurant it feels like you are eating at home. Food is excellent every time you visit for me it is a regular trip once a week if I could! The staff are friendly and will do there very best to give you what you want even if it is not on the menu. For me this is the best Indian in Hertfordshire

After visiting last summer we decided on a takeaway last night .. We had a great meal , beautiful food , quick delivery and very plentiful .. Our first choice in Watford . Good work Saffron !

Visited Saffron as was close to Harry Potter tour and had great reviews on trip adviser. Was busy for a Thursday night which is always a good sign. Very welcoming staff, made us feel relaxed. Friendly banter with the children. Lots of choice on the menu. Fantastic food and good value for money. Was offered a complimentary drink. Will definitely recommend and will return if in the area.

Had a great meal in here last night! Had the chicken tikka Bhuna which was so tasty and well cooked! I love the naan bread here as it is never doughy or too heavy! This restaurant is a little outside of Watford but the fact it is never empty and busy says a lot!! Great service from Jib and all of the waiters, very friendly and quick. Drinks on tap, never had to wait for a refill. Also a complimentary baileys on the rocks after my meal was a great touch! We'll definitely be back very soon! Thanks jib and co!!

We stayed nearby at Hunton Park and found Saffron on trip advisor and thought it looked lovely, got a table booked immediately by friendly staff. The place is small but cosy, it had a really nice atmosphere and the staff were all very attentive and lovely. The food was just amazing, we can't remember ever having Indian food as good as this! Great prices too, the house red was gorgeous. Would highly recommend. We want to go back but it's too far!!

The restaurant came very highly recommended by the concierge at The Grove Hotel in Watford. We were not disappointed! Both the food and service were excellent and we would highly recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

I can't believe that I, and my family, have been coming to this restaurant for 10 years now, and I have never posted a review!It's always first class. The food is freshly cooked ( none of this heated up stuff, using a bank of microwaves), and is always so tasty and enjoyable. I love the after taste Jib's meals leave at the back of my throat. The staff are always friendly, and the ambience, from the fresh flowers at the entrance to the table cloths and cutlery, is immaculate. Long may this restaurant continue providing such a wide variety of exceptional tastes. Easily the best in Watford. 10 out of 10.

A disappointing visit. Our food didn't arrive for over half an hour, and was average at best when it finally did - not what I'd expected.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices and the place had a great local feel to it. 5 min drive from Harry Potter Studios and free parking after 6:30pm.

I have been here a few times and the food has always been tasty and cooked to a really good standard. Very authentic so I would say there is definitely a little more kick and spice added to their dishes so if you want mild let them know! The staff are really friendly and always good to chat to. Jib the owner is great and if you want a dish cooked a certain way let him know! Good value and great food and even a shot of baileys at the end of the meal which is a nice touch! Definitely recommend this restaurant for a great curry!!!

We visited the restaurant after looking on Google for nearby restaurants upon leaving the Harry Potter studio tour.

This was our first visit and will certainly not be our last. The food was the best Indian we'd had for a very long time! Atmosphere was great and staff were really friendly. Can't wait to go back....

I had been advised by friends of the Saffron. I had previously driven past the parade of shops it resides on many a time, but had not seen it. We finally visited the Saffron. It was the tastiest Indian meal I had enjoyed for many years in Watford. The food was plentiful, I went for the Chicken Tika Balti and it was certainly up there with the authentic Balti served in and around the Birmingham area. The wife had a Biriani, again brilliant, more spicy than was expected but still a great meal.

Lovely local Indian, fast friendly and efficient service is only the start. The food is top quality with good sized portions at reasonable prices. We never tire of the menu choice. They also provide a first rate fast home delivery service.

After visiting Warner Brothers studio for the Harry Potter experience, we stopped off at the Saffron for dinner on the way home, and what a find! The food was amazing and the ambiance was good. By their own admission they are not the cheapest but they are still cheaper than some inferior restaurant's we have been to. We will defiantly be going back even though it is a good 45 minute drive from our house.

The Mrs and I went for an evening meal last week, and decided to try something new instead of our usual local. We booked a table for Saturday at 7 and right upon arrival we knew we made the right decision. The atmosphere was lively, but still quiet enough to have a nice evening out. We were welcomed by the owner who made us feel comfortable and recommended some great dishes. Starters were good, main with sides was delicious and we finished off with coffee and ice cream, great way to end the evening. Cannot recommend this place enough, and now find any excuse to go again. Saffron has definitely become the new local!

We had a takeaway from here - staff over the phone seemed friendly but for some reason did not agree to give the 10% discount which was offered on the menu for orders of £15 or more...there is no mention that it's for collection only...

Short of going to India (well, Bangladesh, which is whence the wonderful and faultless Saffron staff hail) I don't think better Indian food exists in the UK. Tayyab's in Whitechapel comes close, but Saffron's staff really are the best. Kind, caring and they always treat you as their honoured guest - which is just as it should be.

We stopped after a long visit to Harry Potter Studios and picked up some food to bring back to our hotel. The staff was very friendly while we waited and the food was excellent! Everyone loved the butter chicken, from the 8yr old and up. The Nan is fluffy and delicious and other courses we had were very good.

The food is fresh and very tasty. A really nice place for a easy evening meal for the family. Only problem is it is out of town but worth the drive

After a long day at the WB Harry Potter Studio Tour in Watford, we met up with some friends who live outside of London. They are British and therefore very picky about their curry. They had never tried this restaurant, but wanted to meet us near the Harry Potter studio so they did some research and came up with this gem. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The wait staff was attentive and nice. The food was amazing! My British, curry-savvy friends were not disappointed and neither were we Americans. All in all a lovely experience. I recommend eating here after visiting the Harry Potter Studio. You could either take a short taxi or Uber ride from the studio. The restaurant is walkable from the studio, but we were exhausted after the 3+ hour tour. We were also starving and this was a much better option than eating at the cafeteria at the WB studio. You can't go to London without having good curry and Saffron was the perfect opportunity to do so. Highly recommend it!

me n the boys were thinking of having a night out and we thought we should catch a meal, saffron wasnt too far and so we stopped there. Amazing service and the food was absolutely fantastic!! we didnt book but they were able to quickly put together a table of 7 in a matter of seconds, the drinks came very quickly as did the food.

While staying in the area we used trip advisor to find local restaurants and this was one of the top 5. We were not disappointed! We were seated and served quickly.

Got a takeaway from here the other day. Food was good (although no better than the other well rated Indian places in Watford), but not impressed by delivery. Took over 90 minutes to deliver to central Watford and was overcharged. No doubt good as a restaurant to visit, but best to avoid for takeaways.

As regular visitors over many years we have never been disappointed by the food quality and staff friendliness.

Decided to visit after seeing the many positive reviews and high trip advisor rating. A warm welcome on entry. A large choice on the menu showed all the usual favourites plus some specials less familiar. Food was excellent, tasty, good portions and spiced perfectly.

The rating of Saffron as very good is due to the food as the service was hit and miss to say the least. The staff seemed more concerned with the Takeaway orders rather than serving us, even though there was only 1 other table in the restaurant occupied.

First ever visit to Watford. We ate here on saturday evenibg circa 930pm, the restaurant was fairly busy. I had read the reviews before visiting. Not knowing Watford at all,and,staying at Croxley Green this little restaurant took some finding,and,I was just thankful we had sat nav. This place is situated about 2/3 miles from Watford Town Centre,in the Leavesden area and can be found in a small row of shops in a residential area.. Good atmosphere,service with a smile,very clean and best of all proper tasty Indian food. Drinks a bit pricey. We were a party of 3 and all enjoyed the meals,Chicken Tikka Masala,Balti Chicken and Chicken Karahi all freshly cooked. Would definitely call again when next in the area.

Came to Watford for Harry Potter tour, found this Indian restaraunt that gives discount if you have been to Harry Potter studio tour. Small restaraunt on a high street but absolutely fantastic! Amazing service with friendly and chatty staff that make you feel comfortable and welcome! Food was absolutely divine and really good portions! I'm from the north and was expecting to pay an arm and a leg but very reasonable prices! 100% recommend lovely lovely staff amazing food and great atmosphere!

My hubby and I ended up in Watford one Sunday night (about 7 pm) and found ourselves absolutely starving. We were craving Indian so decided on this place based on all of the great trip advisor reviews.

This is like private dining, a small restaurant that is big on quality. Food selection is great to suit all tastes, the food is delicious both if you are dining in or taking home. As a family we have become regulars and before arriving we all discuss what we are going to eat!

My family and I have been going to Saffron now for about 5-6 years now, without ever going to another Indian restaurant! The food is always impeccable, the staff are always friendly and most of the time you don't even have to book. I always look forward to going again to eat their delicious food.

Our more local Indian takeaway is not very good so we wanted to try somewhere new. We were dubious but read the reviews for Saffron and thought we should give it a go. So glad we did! The food took about 45 minutes to arrive but it was a Friday night so this could have been why... totally worth the wait!! We ordered a range of food including the chicken pasanda and paneer shashlick bhuna, which was suggested by the man who took our order. All of it was amazing! We had enough for left overs the next day and it was still great! We will definitely be ordering from here again!

Definitely the best Indian cuisine in a take-away. Wish we had Indian take away in the states. The food was so fresh and we received it quickly. It was steaming hot!!

I don't know how well I can sum up this place. The staff are fantastic, let me start off by saying that. The food is just... ridiculously good. I cannot express how amazing it is. I apologise for any hyperbole but if anywhere deserves it, Saffron does. I go back as often as I can.

My family and I have been coming here ever since the Saffron opened some eight years ago. We have used them for eating in, take-away, for parties, and even for outside catering and they have always lived up to our expectations.

A little outside central Watford in Courtlands Drive with nearby legal street parking and a local bus service this is one of the family's favourite restaurants to eat in OR for take away. It's also possible to walk to it from the Warner Bros Harry Potter studio tour site (with a map of the area).

Four of us been to this little Saffron hidden from town centre, Very friendly, good food. My only complain was the mixed grill start was not hot, saying that it was very tasty, lamb cooked nice pink(never seen an indian restaurant cooked like that).

We booked this restaurant as it was convenient location after dropping kids off at harry potter, and we found the food and service excellent. It is about ten minute walk from harry potter. The chicken piri piri was out of this world, I normally have jalfrezi but piri piri will be my preferred choice from now on. Well worth visit.

As we only live across the road, thought it about time we tried this restaurant.

Whenever I am driving past watford, I have to make a stop at Saffron. I took my family and we had a great time, eight of us were treated like royalty, the waiting staff were keen to make us feel welcome all the time. Right from the door to when we left, we were happy with their service.

We came from work, 6 of us. The service was amazing and the food delicious. Nothing was too much trouble to ask and the manager was looking after us to the highest standards. Definitely recommended, the best Indian restaurant in Watford.

Great resturant and absoloutley beautiful food. This is a great place to go to for work meals, couples evenings out or even a family affairs. The service was brilliant and friendly. I would defo recommend Saffron for a nice evening out.
