I recently dined at this restaurant during my road trip from Dublin. I ordered the special biryani for £15.95, which included a mix of sheep, chicken, and prawns, along with a side of vegetable curry that resembled a thick sambar in appearance. However, it tasted nothing like traditional sambar. Unfortunately, the biryani had uncooked masala (chilli powder) which made it really hot and didn't meet my expectations in terms of taste. When I shared my disappointment with the manager, he mentioned that this is how biryanis are prepared in Northern Ireland, following a lesser-known Indian biryani style that very few people are familiar with. As a traveler, I was hoping for a slightly closer authentic culinary experience. I believe there's room for improvement in the quality of their dishes. Overall, my visit left much to be desired."

As per restaurant owner Chicken Biryani is Northern Ireland special biryani, not Indian biryani. The worst biryani in Northern Ireland. Please don't ask for spicy birayani, they will just add chilli powder and mix it. Update : As per the REPLAY from the restaurant, it is ok to add chilli powder and mix it. Please don't call yourself an Indian restaurant, it's Northern Ireland restaurant. I request all Indians to try out other authentic Indian restaurants,, not this one.

Here you can try out the "northern Ireland special Biriyani"😂😂😂😅😅😅. I think everyone should try out this 🌶️ biriyani. REPLY TO THE RESTAURANT JUSTIFICATION: Yes i can surely say that you didn't put green chillies, instead you dumped a whole lot of red chilli powder in that overcooked rice. So i personally like to name it is a 'Red Chilli Biryani' not a chicken biriyani. I recommend other authentic Indian restaurants for Indian cuisines.

Great tasting food, good selection, and good service. The pricing point is about average. Maybe slightly above to sit in. The only minus point would be the decor, which is a tad poor. Closing time to sit in can vary to that on the door. We had to leave slightly early the night we were in. However, no one else in that evening so couldn't blame owner.

Don’t often review or feel the need to. On this occasion the food from saffron has unfortunately made me sick. Two of us in the family had a takeaway on Tuesday night and have been unwell since. The restaurant wouldn’t win any awards for its interior but the service was very good and the food tasty but not really true Indian. I did enjoy it but having been to several regions of India I know the food served here was very Europeanished. Lots of sugar added to sweeten the curries up, some of the dishes could have been desserts. They all however could not be faulted for the amount of meat in them. Some time you get lots of sauce with very little substance where as here it was quiet the opposite and it wasn’t cheap meat cuts either. All the meat dishes we had contained big tender, succulent hunks of meat. So although it was the Indian I was expecting it was still very enjoyable.

Food was mediocre and not to my taste for Indian food. Hot, but lacking in individual spice taste. Tikka chilli masala was drowned in salt which precluded taste of spices. Left meal unfinished, as palate couldn't handle being overpowered by saltiness. Balti was better, but not usual Balti, lacking flavour. Didn't have feel of being cooked from scratch. Restaurant itself was relaxed and staff not attentive when busy.

Hard to find a decent curry in the area- but We ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and it was pretty tasty with a nice level of spice. The lamb was tender, not dry. We wouldn’t call it a typical, authentic Rogan Josh- however- it was a half tasty, flavoursome dish. Very saucy. Fluffy pilau rice. 😊

Our view on Saffron is a bit different to most of the reviews. The number of good reviews on Trip Advisor encouraged us to try Saffron. But we found the food bland - our dishes tasted quite similar and the Kadhai Paneer was much more salty than is pleasant. We normally find that Indian restaurants make good use of the variety of spices with quite different blends in different dishes - whereas Saffron’s dishes are all similar in taste. Their equivalent of Bombay potato came in a curry sauce, which I have never had before as it usually comes without a curry sauce. I appreciate that some people may prefer a relatively bland taste - but I think this misses out on the wonderful blends of spices which some restaurants achieve.

Update: The owner asked me to reach out to him privately to rectify the experience, but when I responded now over a week ago he is yet to reply or do anything g to make up for us wasting £80 on food that was not edible. Maybe this is because our cash went in his pocket and not the till as their restaurant was “cash only.” Really disappointing. I really wanted to enjoy this meal but it was the worst Indian I’ve ever had. We ordered five different dishes and the only one that resembled real flavourful Indian was the tandoori chicken. The sauces had such strange textures and colours. The butter chicken tasted like apple sauce had been mixed with it, there was no depth of flavour and zero spice. In the end a LOT of food (and money) went in the bin.

Phone ringing flat out for collections and deliveries, other tables arriving was fantastic to see. Drinks to the table and our order was taken.. Poppadoms and dips complimentary within minutes, and then our starters arrived. Mixed Tandoori starter and Raj kebab. They looked and smelt amazingly, and indeed, they were the flavours and taste were perfect and cooked amazingly.. Once eaten and plates were removed, all we could talk about was how impressive starters were.. Onto the mains.. Saffron special biryani and chicken bhuna with garlic cheese nan. Or they wasted no effort in chopping it to a size fit for palatable consumption. I make a much better one-pot biriyani at home tbh. If this is what passes for Indian food around here then I feel for the folks who live here. On a visit from England to see our son and take in some sea air. Fancied a curry when his favourite eatery wasn’t serving food. We both went for Onion Bhaji starter which came quite worryingly quickly to the table. It was poorly presented and did not resemble any bhaji I’ve ever eaten before. It was flat like a pancake and very dry (like it was one made earlier in the day). Also rather tasteless, needed a lot of sauce (which we had to ask for) to make it palatable. Politely told the serving waiter this and he explained this is common and that we should have gone for the Pakora - wish he’d have told us this earlier like any decent waiter worth his salt would have done. Alas, we made our way to the main courses, which were plentiful and rather more tasty but not the experience we were hoping for. Totally overpriced and I live in London! They didn’t have the beers that we wanted from the menu explaining (comically) that they don’t get them in as customers just order the Tiger beer (I think) normally. Then why are they on the menu? I’ve had worse curries eaten at worse places, but I’ve also had far better ones eaten at better places for far less than we paid. There also seems to be an ongoing issue with the internet network as we and customers before us had trouble paying using our respective cards. Which is embarrassing and customers should not be put in that position. Just a reasonable tip for the restaurant ,If a customer states something isn’t right (in our case the bhajis) then use some skill in discretion and take them off the bill. It reflects better customer service and attention to quality.

One of the worst curries we have ever had! Ordered a chicken bhuna, mixed tandoori starter, meat samosa, garlic naan and popadums.. £33. The curry was a cream colour and tasted of almonds?? ( not how a bhuna should look or taste) the tandoori starter had some sort of sauce on it (awful) nothing like tandoori chicken, shish should taste. We both had one bite and binned the lot!! We will never order from here again! Stay clear! Only gave it 1 star as I couldn't post otherwise!

The worst Indian takeaway i have ever tasted and I have tried many different places. Vegetable Korma was inedible, thick dry sauce that tastes nothing like korma. Chicken garlic chilli masala was also thick and dry and tasted like spicy ketchup. Not authentic Indian food. Its also expensive compared to others. Will not be back.

Cannot cook these people,I can cook better at home. The food we got wasn't like Indian it was something you wouldn't serve your dog. They need retraining in their Indian cooking. Awful taste,I hope when the new renovations in the kitchen and restaurant take place its better. Its a bit out dated also. These supposed to take place in Dec 2021 they will up their game and also change their menu ect.
