**Review for Saffron Express Indian Cuisine** I recently ordered food from Saffron Express, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. While enjoying my meal, I encountered a metal piece—a screw—in my curry. This was not only shocking but also a serious safety concern. I had high hopes for the food, as I’ve heard positive things about the restaurant, but this incident overshadowed everything. It’s crucial for any establishment to maintain strict hygiene and safety standards, and this experience has raised significant doubts for me. I hope that Saffron Express addresses this issue promptly to ensure the safety of their customers in the future. Until then, I cannot recommend dining here.

Excellent service and the food was good as well. Not the same standard as you get in Bradford, but compared to the other halal places it was 100% better. Went on 2 days and on the 2nd day they made more traditional food for us. Service was exceptional, and made you feel very welcome. Will definitely visit again during my next visit to Bridlington.

The Saag Paneer is rather disgusting and I would not recommend. It is excessively sweet, almost as the chef had mistaken sugar for salt. The dish is overwhelmed by an almost sweet yogurt like sauce which makes you want to be sick. What a poor representation of what should be a great Indian curry. There’s other vegetarian options on the menu (like Tarka Dhaal) but it’s average at best.

They made a few mistakes with the order and the "saag paneer" was the weirdest curry I've ever had. It wasn't remotely authentic, like eating lumps of crème fraîche in a sugary, sweet, creamy custard with spinach. However, some dishes were okay, and they gave complimentary poppadoms. I would give 3 stars but gave 2 instead to better combat the many, overgenerous 5-star reviews.

We travelled from Cambridge and came to our first Indian meal at Saffron. Needless to say, this was the best and most authentic Indian meal we had! I was more impressed to see they had a kids menu, which is not often found in many Indian restaurants. Both our children thoroughly enjoyed the food, as well as the approachable and friendly waiters Saif, Steven and Yusuf. Their warm and welcoming service made our evening even more pleasant. The quality of the food was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was lovely, too! We had a handi chicken, garlic chilli chicken, Bombay Aloo, mushroom fried rice and the chicken nuggets plus fries from the kids menu. It is worth every penny, and the wonderful staff make the visit worthwhile.

Visited tonight, I don't usually do reviews but the King Prawn chatt I have just eaten here is the best chatt I have ever had, and let me tell you I have eaten 100's the beautiful thick sauce is the perfect mixture of spices with a hint of sweet & citrus. Followed the chatt with the Saffron Special which again was beautiful, absolutely packed with chicken, lamb and mushrooms. Would definitely recommend 😁 The staff are wonderful, polite and very courteous, an absolute credit to the owners. It's a massive thumbs up from me all round. Well done ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Staying locally, wanted a take away. Chicken tikka masala, rice and popadoms, was excellent and at under £12 a reasonable price, would serve one teenager or two people that eat a normal amount.

The staff here are always first class. It doesn't matter if you are booking a table or collecting a takeaway, they always without fail make you feel special. The food is always enjoyable and a visit is something to be looked forward to.

We've been here a couple of times over the past few years and the service has been great and the vegan options were good.

Proper food, I have had currys from many different takeaways, and none have even come close to this. Food is full of flavour and was hot and tasty when it came. Haters gon hate but this food is absolutely banging. Will always be the best of the best.

Ok where do I start food was split open bottom of the bag delivery driver is nice handed it over doing her job thumbs up for her then fun begins who is on the other end on the phone tells me I can't disclose any details tells me he does a favour ready to close and nothing he can do apart from write it down how is this going to help so ignorant

Food split all over refused to swap for new 1 and would not give me 1 or give me my money back after that he refused to answer the phone very disappointed no apology or anything just I will write it down what help is that ?

Went for a meal here in October early door 6.30pm 3 plus I child. The food was tasteless no spice and it was look warm totally ripped off

Overall good food. Seekh kebab were very good. I would suggest to have chicken on the bone as well but the taste was good. Cucumber raita was the worst.

Absolutely great curry house, it's rare I can't pick fault with food, but to be honest for the style of curry this is, it's excellent. Of particular note, if a dish is described as medium or hot it genuinely is, all to often I will order a medium dish which has zero heat or flavour, likewise hot dishes tend to be dulled down to avoid unhappy customers, here though if you order a hot dish it will be hot. I would advise against making requests to make dishes hotter till you have tried one. Prices are reasonable, the atmosphere could do with some work mainly it's just a bit quiet customer wise, but considering it's location that's not hugely surprising, curry isn't a cheap meal. It's worth travelling to though, we travel from Driffield and are happy, previously to get a decent curry we had to visit Scarborough or York. Parking on road right outside usually. Worth a visit.

Absolute rubbish We had the worst curry we have EVER had last night. To start with we gave very specific instructions on where to deliver our meal and the driver tried delivering 1/2 a mile aaay from us, he moaned and wasn’t happy when we told him where he needed to be. Our 2 meals were part of. a larger order for a group of 4 We ordered vegetable Bhunas which should have been a thick sauced curry, a little dryer than others. Ours were identical and were very watery to look at which raised alarm bells initially. There was zero smell of spices at all. We started eating and there was no curry spices whatsoever in the dishes, totally bland with no taste. There was not even any seasoning in them at all, no salt, nothing. They were completely bland. It was clear to us that what had probably happened is that a pre made, pre frozen batch of vegetables in a nondescript sauce had been defrosted and the chef must have forgotten to add any curry base or spicing or seasoning at all. Come on guys, it’s harder to get a curry so catastrophically wrong than it is to get it right. It is not easy to describe how disgusting the meal was. It was more like a stew than a curry, a watery one with no taste at that. Had we been in the restaurant to eat both meals would have gone straight back to the kitchen. It is a real shame as we have had a takeaway from here before and it was lovely. To be fair, the garlic naan breads were great but the only memory we have from the meal is the non-curry. I ate about half of mine as i was so hungry but my wife didn’t eat any of hers at all. Complete and utter waste of money. We won’t be.using this place again. Sorry Saffron, you have to do better than this

Ordered a takeaway and it was the best curry i have ever had. Staff very attentive when I went in to order very polite and friendly.

We’re not from round here. So struggle getting a curry as good as Bradford. Well it was fabulous. I had chilly garlic chicken, amazing! My husband had the butter chicken. The rice was moist and amazing. The only negative was my Chapatis were really dry. Other than that I would highly recommend this place

INSULTING portion sizes. They describe it like it is for 2 people but it absolutely is not enough for 2. Not to mention the food itself was very bland and poorly cooked. Waiters did an amazing job trying to make up for the embarrassing job the chef and managers have done with this restaurant so credit to them. Honestly if you want to be in a bad mood, by all means come to this place.

Coming through Bridlington last night, we found this great resteraunt open pretty late. I think last food orders are 10 pm. We had very friendly and attentive staff. The food was very flavourful. My in-laws very mild preference was accomdated no problem. We had papadoms (they are quite large so one each is good with the pickles set), very light and crunchy, and garlic and Kashmiri Naan that were both flavourful and fluffy, one serve of rice and four currys. My in-laws had the mild tandoiri chicken tikka marsala and chicken korma. They have lots of sauce so the rice recommended by our waiter was a good addition. We had saag paneer and begoon bhaji. Very flavourful but mild, and beautifully cooked aubergine - would have preferred more spicy as I like spicy food, so I would order it more spicy if I am in the area again. My in-laws had a little to take-home with them, but it was a size good order for us. The resteraunt is very large and could accommodate large group. The toilets were clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend and will eat there again if we are in the area.

Service and food excellent As we have a dog we called in to place our order and asked if it could be delivered as we had a half hour walk back to where we were staying. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and helpful. Food arrived promptly at the time we asked and was piping hot. The food was delicious, one of the best I've had for a long time.

A spacious restaurant with nice ambience. The naan was fresh & tasty. The main dishes was nice overall yet a bit sweeter than authentic style. The chef may have modified the recipe to suit local’s preference.

Called in to takeaway some food, was busy but was served fairly quickly, great currys ordered lamb madras and lamb masala very good, would visit again!

Could do with using other meats than just lamb would have loved my favourite curry but only used minced lamb I got the replacement for chicken khari and found their was lots of onions and tomatoes more than chicken was still a nice meal overall

Used this restaurant for years, had a take away tonight and it was shocking, king prawn masala sauce full of shell, garlic chilli chicken I’ve tasted stronger korma. Fish pakora and onion bahjee stone cold, paratha like rubber. You wouldn’t believe it came from the same place, won’t be going back for either dine in or takeaway ☹️

Really exceptional food, extremely clean, comfy warm place with excellent staff, all staff that served us were really lovely. Thanks, loads, for an excellent evening. Have visited this restaurant a few times in the past 5 months. Have always found the staff there to be very polite and attentive with the food being very good. Will certainly be visiting again in the near future.

There were eight adults and one child of 8 years. The food was tops well worth a revisit all the family enjoyed and were large portions. I hope that is helpful and if you don't go you will miss a good opportunity.

The food was lovely and came pretty quickly, we had booked in advance for a very large group and we were left waiting for some time before we were seated in separate tables. The staff were a little overwhelmed with us all and more than once drinks and dinners went missing or showed up way after everyone else's. However the staff were so nice and happy to do anything they could to improve our experience. I will be coming back to this place just with a smaller group.

We always use the Saffron when we stay at our Static Caravan at Reighton Sands whether it be for a sit in meal or a Takeaway. Best Curry House in the area in our opinion. Never had a bad meal yet

Food was nice, not the beat I've had but nice all the same. However the service was a different matter. Waiter was on phone when we arrived, in the door, fair enough and said he'd be with us in a minute. Came back from kitchen and answered phone again leaving us standing! Felt completely rushed throughout the meal( even though they weren't busy and it was early doors. Barely put knife on plate before they whisked it away , not asking if we'd finished until they'd picked them up. Then the bill was thrust under our noses, made to feel very uncomfortable and we still hadn't finished our drinks

Just been to Saffrons for tea, had a lovely meal, as always. Been coming here for years. Very good menu with lots of choice. The staff are friendly and very helpfull, especially Munna & Stephen. We wiil be back again very soon. It is the best in Bridlington.

Not what I expected highly dissatisfied with the food cold fatty chips bendy poppadoms chewy nann , under cooked under marinated flobby cold chicken! warm rawonions and no salad …. shame the food didn’t live up too first impressions customer service was spot on !

Been coming here for the past 15 years with my family. My sister even had them cater her wedding. Food is always brilliant and the staff are lovely. Me and my partner now live in Manchester but we’ve yet to find a curry house as good as this despite the number of them!

Always have a great meal from here when we are visiting family and the manager is great and offered to teach our daughter how to make some of the breads on the menu.

Had our first takeaway last night from Saffron, we're quite fussy about our curries but we weren't disappointed. Friendly staff, beautifully fresh salad and pickles and well spiced curries with quality sauce. Lovely spiced pilau rice and the most light garlic naan. Beautiful. Highly recommended. 😁 Still the best ever!!

I had the special chicken bhuna, I can’t remember it’s full name but it was very flavoursome with lots of spices. Not bland like some places. The Peshwari naan was good too and so were the onion bhaji My husband and our friends all said they enjoyed their starters and mains too. The staff were polite and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. A very pleasant surprise. I would definitely recommend this place.

Ordered last night and have to say it was one of the best Indian take aways we've had! My partner, mother in law and myself all agreed it was beautiful. Not badly priced either. Arrived red hot, very tasty and even got 8 poppadoms with dips free. Would definitely recommend and will be ordering again 🙂

I paid £31.25 for mine and my partners tea. The food got here quickly and the phone staff were lovely, however. The guy who delivered just wasn't very polite almost like he didn't want to be doing it, as a customer, it makes me feel awkward, however got the food upstairs looking forward to it as it smelled really good. When me and my other half was eating we both noticed something was right with the food, there was little to no taste in the tikka masala, I could feel the spice but there was little to no flavour qnd on top of that it was watery, my partners however was very sweet.... Korma isn't supposed to feel like your eating porridge nor should it taste as sweet as my tikka. The samosas looked microwave. Two small tiny samosas... the food was edible and with the price we paid. And even more so now you'd have eaten it to. My partner feels unwell and we wont be coming again. The rice was nice though.

What a lovely place this is. Really welcoming staff, quaint restaurant and the food the best part. Hands down the best chicken jalfrezi I've eaten in years, done properly with plenty of green chillies and a really fresh taste, well done to the chef 👌

Mashallah, one of the best food me and my family have ever had. The aroma of the food and the presence of the variety of spices increases the level on desi food. I am not from the area but I first started going here around 3 years ago I’ve since been every time When I’ve visited Bridlington as this is without doubt the best Indian not only in brid but the best I’ve ever been to and thats a lot of places being my favourite type of food. The staff are exceptional cant do enough for you and even give me, my 2 old son and partner a lift home after a meal due to shortage of taxis. The quality of the food is unreal and the excellent value for money means your left with plenty of money for beers after ! . I will be going again when visiting as this place is truly A+++

Not the most mind-blowing Indian restaurant I've been to, particularly for veggie/vegan food, but the food was good, - tasty and reasonably priced. Both of my dining companions enjoyed their meals. Service was excellent.

Excellent food and great service from all the staff. We wanted to try something new and the gentleman who managed/owned the restaurant was so helpful, kind & obliging. He recommended our dishes based on our conversation and it was probably the best curry I've ever had! The restaurant and the facilities were very clean too. Lovely birthday meal for a family member

Very tasty curries, naans and rice, I had a fish curry and it was delicious! Loads of choice, great for veggies and vegans too! :)

Typical British Indian fare prepared by Bangladeshi cooks who have no clue what and how modern Indians prefer for their meals. It frustrates me to no end when such cuisine is branded Indian, when it isn't. The veggies weren't cooked well, the bhaji batter was raw and the rotis resembled raw hide.

The people working there were very polite, and helpful, and the food was generally good and tasty and nicely cooked. Sadly one of our group had a dish was way, way too sweet (more so than similar anywhere else) and another dish was the completely wrong order, far far hotter than ordered resulting in a painful mouth that pretty much ruined the meal. They were good about it, replaced it, and offered soothing yoghurt to take the edge off, which did work but the damage was already done unfortunately.
