I went to the Steak night recently which was very good and good value. I returned with a friend last week and was disappointed to find that the Mains did not include a side. I think £12.95 for a piece of frozen fish and peas should have included chips, which cost an extra £3.50. It was not surprising that only 2 tables were occupied. Very poor value for money.

Have been to Rubys a few times recently and the service has been absolutely shocking. My visit last week confirmed I will not be back. Stood waiting for over 15 minutes to be served even though restaurant was empty. Had to go into the front bar to get served in the lounge to which I got dirty look and response "ask staff out there, that isnt my responsibility " even though there was no staff in the lounge.. I then got ignored by a manager when standing waiting at the bar to be served (I was the only oerson there), she walked straight past me and said "im away". Staff all seem very under pressure and nothing short of rude. The last few times I have been in I have overheard management belittling/shouting at younger staff and have also seen them in tears because of this, when its clear younger staff are only trying to do their best. Very toxic environment and uncomfortable to sit in. There used to be a brilliant bar man named Owen in there for years who had the place running like clockwork... it is very apparent that his lack of presence could be the downfall of Rubys. Very sad to see.

I thought I was treating the family to a good meal by deciding to go to the Steak Night on Friday 27/5/2022. What a terrible meal!! Two of the steaks could not be cut even with steak knives. I kid you not. My wife complained and they knocked a little bit off the bill. Would not recommend and will never be back.

very much double standards people wearing their masks but the older guy behind the bar masked pulled down talking to a women on this side of the bar who had no mask assumed she was some relation of his.but he has the nerve to tell a women who approached the bar to cover her mouth and stand back from the bar what a joke this guy has very poor and limited customer service expertise seems a liability pub feels quite unwelcoming so go there if you are not really fussed i have been reviewing for years and always give a fair and honest opinion

We dined here last week in a party of four. AWFUL is the only word I could use to describe the food. Steaks were dry and very overcooked, rubbery and full of stringy fat. Probably the worst steaks we have ever had. We ordered amaretto coffees after our meal. The cream was not just slightly on the turn, it was absolutely putrid . How come a chef wasn't even able to smell cream that has gone completely sour. The coffees were replaced but we still had to pay for them. I would have thought that a complimentary coffee would have been a nice gesture. The waitress was lovely and obviously embarrassed by the incident but it wasn't her fault. Let's hope when they finish their renovations upstairs that they up their game otherwise it will be as empty as it was downstairs.

I went out with my friends for my birthday at the weekend. It’s was a great night and great craic. Food was lovely and staff were brilliant. Definitely recommend it

Pizza and chicken pieces. Incredible food and good value! Need more characters for some reason. Place is v v v v v v good.

Despite pre ordering our meals to save time as we were on our lunch break, our food still took 50 minutes to arrive. There were also flies everywhere which was really off putting. I rarely leave a poor review as i am by no means fussy but based on this experience I wouldn't recommend visiting.

Ordered nachos and it was basically a tin of passata with grated cheese and chillies, they had to be sent back due to the ratio of crisps to sauce. Fish and chips were ok and the chicken burger was awful. We got a pizza for the kids which was nice and the service from our waitress was good but definitely will not be back.

Much preferred the previous menu and the way the food was cooked. Not sure if we will be back. Such a shame as it was brilliant before.

A really friendly restaurant with an Italian/American feel. My burger was superb but my wife didn't get the mash she asked for and my wine was forgotten. The food was very good, we must have caught them on a day they were distracted.

Booked a table for 2 for 8pm arrived at 7:50pm table not ready fair enough back up at 8:05 to be greeted by an awful look and some comment by the chef given a table that was free the first time and a menu thrown at us . Asked for the full menu as we fancied pizza the waitress replied “ well if you really want it I can get it for you” and it was basically thrown at us too . At this point I opted to leave getting a night out without the kids is a luxury and this isn’t what I would find acceptable service in any case. We told the waitress why we were leaving and she seemed happy enough. Did email the owners to relay this but no reply so they obviously don’t mind so much . We certainly won’t be back and definitely won’t recommend pity as this place used to do good food under the last owner
