Royal Thai Restaurant in Northampton

Ordered tempura prawns but they were breadcrumbs. Other Dishes were good. Meat nice and tender.

Rather expensive after fees added but delicious!

The portion size was relatively small considering the cost. £12 for pad Thai. Prawns were large though. I didn’t think it was very authentic tasting compared to Thai land.

Food is amazing! There just isn’t enough of it - portion size could be improved especially on the rice portion - just a spoonful of rice between 2 people for £4.95! But I would still continue to use them - flavour is unreal!

Food was outstanding!! I am a very harsh critic usually but this place is very authentic and traditional Thai place for food. Me & the missus had a lovely experience and the food quality was exceptional and this coming from a chef that has worked at rosette standards and along side Michelin star chefs. 10/10 great food great atmosphere however there was a few boisterous guests who I think forgot they were in a pleasant calm Thai restaurant and not a pub/bar. Lol but overall a great experience and will likely visit again. 🤙

it was ment to come at 6:20 and driver went completely opposite direction of my house for over an hour. i don’t blame him for order being late it’s just i ordered over an hour ago and it came at 7:28

Never use just eat, full order not delivered, when confirming order not complete was told not a reason to complain. Spare ribs not delivered almost £8 out of pocket rip off!

The food was lovely lots of flavour

This was my first visit and I wish I had visited sooner! The service is friendly, helpful and extremely welcoming. They made us feel very welcome for a birthday visit. The food is superb. Fresh, tasty and extremely delcious. We had quite a selection of different dishes and each and every one was fantastic. Thoroughly recommend.

Rice was inedible and the beef curry was extremely tough. Was not impressed at all. Delivery was on time though.

The dim sum were very nice!The Pad Thai sauce was horrible it tasted nothing like it should it had a burnt taste. I will not be ordering again

Absolutely shocking! Food used to be so nice but it was very tasteless, slimy and all in all horrendous! It was not nice at all it had to go in the bin! £70 wasted! Very disappointed I do not recommend

The food Used to be good... The basic Pad Thai we had last night was tasteless and not fresh at all - no lime in sight either! The fishcakes were fat and felt uncooked/plasticky/powdery. Must find a more authentic Thai restaurant with more authentic tasty food... Let us know when you change the cook and maybe we will return...

I have eaten Thai food all over the world including Thailand and I have to say that the order I received was no more a Thai than? Bland, abysmal.

Sadly this place seems to be going downhill rapidly. Had a great takeaway a few weeks ago but the one tonight was terrible! Virtually 2 or 3 pieces of beef in a massaman with raw potatoes as well! Such a shame as we won't be heading back any time soon I'm afraid.

My duck didn’t even taste like duck Sticky rice tasted like microwave rice My Ben and jerrys Icecream was dated 11/23 so was out of date which is seriously dangerous with being a dairy product so was not happy rang them up and disnt seem bothered 😕

My Thai wife enjoyed her meal, though I do think her cooking is better.

I’ll start with the good …The food tasted nice . That’s it !!! Now if the bad …It’s so so small for the price you pay …. Very very upsetting …. Very small take away containers .. & the rice is so expensive Five pound for fried rice i will not return I believe you would have to search long and hard to find take away containers this small

Very nice Thai food as always, had the green chicken curry.

The portion sizes are not worth the money, which is quite expensive anyway and therefore expected a high quality too. The food arrived within 30 minutes however it was cold. I hope that in the future positive changes can be made since Thai food is usually fantastic.

I just received 4 spring rolls instead 6 as advertised from Royal Thai and they have taken the full payment of £8.45. how is that fare?

Curry was watery and not spicy at all. Chicken was dry, like it was prepped separately ahead of time and thrown in when packing the order. Pretty disappointing. Especially for the price.

The beef in the curry was very tough and portion size smaller than normal tonight, little disappointed but still ok but expensive. The quality is generally much better however so don’t be put off giving it a try.

Not really worth it. The amount paid vs the food we get. Mainly portion of the food. Tom yam soup has very small portions for 12£. Taste is just normal. To add I am an Asian person may be that why my satisfaction is very low to be fair.

I do not often write reviews as it is difficult to sound constructive especially when you do not have a lot of nice things to say however here goes nothing. The service was great the food on the other hand was probably some of the worst food I've had in several years. We recieved our food incredibly quickly which begged the question to whether it was fresh. After tasting the food it was evident that perhaps it may not have been. Out of the 5 items we ordered not one of them was hot, all luke warm at best. The pork ribs were warm and tasted old, dim sum over 8 pounds for what you recieved is questionable and that is being polite. All the food tasted like it is kept in a hot hold of some sort, the best part of the meal was the lettuce and carrot garnish on two of the plates as it was the only thing that tasted fresh. Is summary, the food was probably the worst I've eaten in several years, we will certainly not be back. I realise the above may be difficult to take however it is feedback from two disappointed guests. Regards

The quality was extremely poor and it was really poor value for money!

Service was great. Food mediocre at best. Milk for the coffee was off and curdled but that was rectified. Some of the food was cold. The aromatic crispy duck wasn't. The volcano chicken was tough and chewy,tasted and looked like processed meat. Despite the menu saying the chef would be happy to cook anything, they couldn't accommodate allergies. Rice is made in advance and sits there so onion allergy couldn't be accommodated. Asked for hot and sour chicken, couldn't make it but said they could put more chilli in sweet and sout. Asked for diet coke, got full fat. Not helpful for a diabetic and no warning given. This restaurant was amazing when we used to come here pre covid.sadly it isn't anymore. We won't be returning and don't recommend.

For £75 you’d get a lot more from other takeaway, very small starter portions, 5 miniature dim sum £8.45, ribs smallest I’ve ever seen must have been 1 rib chopped in 6 small pieces £9.45 and 6 prawns tempura but came breaded????? £10.45 save your money go else where…. Massaman curry potatoes tasted and looked like tinned….. had much better Thai food in other places.

The restaurants we tried to eat were all full or booked, at about 7 in the evening. But the Royal Thai was not. I could see only two or three tables being used, which was discouraging. The staff were very attentive, perhaps because the restaurant was quiet and the food was excellent.

Food is only okay, just too expensive for the portion sizes now they have increased their prices so much.

Tasty but portion sizes were small. The driver didn’t read the instructions. Ending up we had to hunt for him because he went to the other end of the street.

Freaking awesome! I had an incredible experience at Royal Thai in Northampton! The spicy papaya salad was a flavor explosion - the perfect blend of sweetness and heat. Some like it hot and this place happily obliged. The Tom Yum noodle soup was equally impressive, with a rich broth that left me craving more. The attentive service and inviting atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience. Great poppers Ngoc Thai pop music too. Highly recommend!

Food is very nice, but it tastes more like Chinese then Thai.

Unfortunately after I ate my food I went to the toilet and as I came out the cubicle I was washing my hands and one of the chefs came out the toilet next to me walked out and didn’t wash her hands which is disgusting. Food wasn’t great meat tasted gone off, disappointing

One of the best Thai restaurants in the UK

Volcano chicken wasn't spicy in the least. Portion sizes were really small, the food came halfway up the container and paying £10 for 5 small prawns, couldn't call them king prawns, was cheeky. In summary, a lot of money for not a lot of food.

Last night will be the last time I use this place, I've given them enough chances. Dry chicken in green curry plus £ for sticky rice that is a solid block of rice pudding!! Sort the pricing a quality out in your take away food.

Be wary if you are a non meat eater. I'm a strict vegetarian, and I've ordered twice from this restaurant - the first time I found a chunk of meat when I chose the tofu option, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a different dish a couple months later, once again choosing tofu, and was given chicken. Will not be ordering from here again.

I specifically asked for no eggs and yet they put eggs in one of the dishes. I called them and they told me to reorder through just eat which I wasn’t sure how to do without paying for a new dish. Shocking customer service

I think they have given up trying to please clients and reverting to just ripping them off by over charging. We used to come here a lot before lock down and always lovely food and service. Went recently and instead of the free prawn crackers we were charge £5.45 !!!! for a small basket. At the time we didn’t check the bill but on getting home and checking their website found we were overcharged on 50% of the bill - buyer beware !!!!

Tutor is having an actual family emergency that meant that person was too inebriated to answer the phone. We didn’t manage to get the call, but for some reason the inept driver didn’t press the doorbell for 26 minutes.

We have ordered from Royal Thai on Uber Eats many times (and it's always delicious) but today was our first time dining in and it was so wonderful. The staff were lovely and the food was exceptional (and beautiful!) The Massaman curry with lamb is a definite favourite! We feel so lucky to have such great Thai food in Northampton ❤️

Food is excellent, tastes delicious. We absolutely loved the Paneang and the crispy duck. Delivery on time and everything was still warm. Super recommended.

Not as authentic as I expected. The Thai Green curry was very watery and felt like vegetables came from a can. The portion sizes were too small for the price. The ambience and drinks were decent.

We ordered dim sum for £9 and we received 5 tiny balls, the size of a penny, no way there are worth £1.80 a piece it would have been a stretch at £1, and also some rice that was only half filled the container easily only 50p worth of rice and they charged £6.50. The food is mediocre and very over priced! We use to like this restaurant but it has gone downhill.

We ordered a takeaway from here which has always been great, but the portion size and quality and drastically reduced where the prices have gone through the roof. 5 tiny dim sum balls for £9, absolutely ridiculous! Rice £6.50, only received half a tub about 50p worth of rice! If the quality matched the price I wouldn't have had an issue, but it is very far from that.

Very quiet when we visited on a Tuesday evening, the food was tasty but not very large portions for the price. May go back again.

45 minutes after ordering the meals no driver had been assigned by Just Eat, so I had to drive to the restaurant and collected the food myself. The Royal Thai is great. Just Eat is rubbish. How about refunding the delivery charge Just Eat?

The food was magnificent, everything from the green curry and rice, to the papaya salad, and the pad Thai - I thoroughly enjoyed all of it! Probably one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in the UK. Magnificent staff, especially Mena and Jay. They are so lovely to talk to. The food is just so perfect! It was so mouth watering from the food presentation to the taste. You’ll definitely taste the authentic thai food. Will surely comeback and bring more friends with me.

Very few noodles with the orange duck and not crispy at all, prices have increased and quality and portion sizes have reduced

Food was awful, watery mess of a curry, the prawns were so badly overcooked you could barely bite into them, pad Thai was like a sticky block of very very soggy noodles, so disappointing, ended up in the bin

Very good food and decor, the portions were big, free wifi and thai music aired by Beach Radio.

A bit disappointing. The sauce of my seafood hor mok had curdled. Big chunks of calamari that should have been cut finer.

Expensive and food is decidedly second rate.

Great food and delivered on time. The only disappointment was the sticky rice… £3.95 for a lump of inedible mush! However, it won’t put me off ordering again. Please focus on the rice!
