Rosemary Greek Restaurant in Mendip

This is a regretfully late review, but I need to leave this review and apologise to the staff for doing so. They and the restaurant are fantastic. We had a really bad week for very unfortunate family reasons, but when we placed our order there was no problems and when we collected it they were lovely. The restaurant looked great and if it were not for our circumstances we would have happily visited them for a meal. Everything we ordered was tasty and could only be improved by us sitting in the restaurant and presented as they would want!

The food was really nice, fresh ingredients and cooked really well. Friendly service, large portions, lovely quality food. I’d recommend, reminded me of food on holiday in Greece.

Something was not right with the food my stomach was killing after we ate an bit with my gf she felt the same still kills till today I think it some food poison

Excellent meal and great service. Made us feel very welcome. Worth a visit if you ever in Shepton Mallet on a damp Saturday night.

We couldn’t have had a more tasty and beautifully prepared meal. In delightful surroundings. And the service from waitress Lelys was superb. She was friendly, informative, knowledgeable and kind. She made us feel like we were her only guests. Thank you Rosemary for a terrific night out.

First time here. Amazing food, we had the Tzatziki starter and chicken souvlaki. I’m a fussy meat eater and the chicken was perfect. Great portions (come hungry) and really good service. We ate everything on our plates! If we lived in Shepton, we’d return. Worth a trip.

A few months ago, we walked in expecting great things as the reviews seemed pretty reasonable. Admittedly it was a quiet evening so we were the only ones there - myself, wife and 7year old. 7 year old was very happy with her bolognaise - pretty hard to get that wrong. I ordered a mixed grill and something else for my wife. It was all deep fried in old oil and tbh I felt sick after eating it. I always thought a mixed grill was grilled but clearly not the case here. The waiter was a quiet chap, seemed fairly nice but not really attentive. I love supporting local restaurants and businesses and maybe they were short staffed or the chef was absent with someone covering who knows, but I honestly won’t be eating here again. I hope it will improve so they keep going.

Please take note AVOID. long hair in my sauce, chicken was stil pink and slimy. TOTAL JOKE everything over priced!

Disgusting wouldn’t recommend the chicken gyros was still frozen, no atmosphere! If I’m honest felt very uncomfortable won’t be returning.

Our lovely friends from Evercreech took us out to Rosemary's and the meal was superb from beginning to end. Our friends had the Lamb Kleftiko and the fillet of beef with orange sauce, which was so succulent. We went for the Pork Gyros with chips & a fresh salad and all this accompanied by a gorgeous bottle of Retsina. For dessert the orange cake ( typically Greek) and the baklava are to die for. Our waitress Leyla made our evening extra sprecial with her customer friendly attitude and lovely smile. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended!

Had brilliant night out with Dutch friends Magic evening, The food perfectly complimented the atmosphere. The lamb was fantastic as was every dish Leyla looked after us a treat Recommend without any doubt

Just awful felt really on edge the whole time

The food was tasty & well presented but was only warm. The service was non existent, after taking our order the waiter did not return once to the table to ask if we wanted more drinks or desserts. Finally went to pay the bill by card to be told cash only so had no choice but to find a cash machine in the pouring rain, wish we had been given notice of this before we ordered so we could have been prepared.

Wow Speechless🤩 just had another fantastic meal with the family!! This is my third time visiting this lovely hidden germ restaurant in Shepton. Big portions sizes for every meal we’ve had, the dessert baklava the whole fam had was fantastic. Sweet service from the waiter tonight, was taken very care off. We will definitely be back! A second visit within a few months. The food is typical taverna fare, however, the portions are so large the food gets cold before you finish it (although I have yet to finish a main course). Nice retsina and good to hear Greek music being played in a Greek restaurant. For the second time we were unable to pay by card, as their card machine was not working (rather disconcerting) - it would be helpful to be told this at the beginning of the meal rather than when we are ready to pay the bill. Although there is a cash machine near the restaurant, not sure what would happen if that was not working either.

No no no food is terrible as well as the service, we felt unwanted and watched over the whole time we didn’t enjoy our evening at all

Wasn’t impressed at all food wasn’t great, meat wasn’t cooked enough service well, what can I say he hardly spoke any English and didn’t understand us.

Certainly not a restaurant I would recommend service was awful, food was freezing cold Not once got checked on or ask if we needed any more drinks, we asked for Salt and mayonnaise and never received we wanted puddings but never got the option I have better service in McDonald’s such a shame because it looked like a lovely little place.

Went here for lunch and it was amazing. Friendly service, and the restaurant was absolutely spotless. Good size portions for an affordable price. We had the pork gyros wrap and chicken Souvlaki. The tzatziki was incredible, we had to order another pot! Lovely seasoning on the chips and fresh salad. Unfortunately the stereo system went down but the friendly waiter was happy for us to play Greek Taverna music on our phone! Very enjoyable experience, will definitely return.

The service was terrible a boy was serving us looked like he had no clue what he was doing he then had a lack of speaking english so he couldn’t understand what i was asking for, food came out and it was really cold the chips felt like they had been thrown in the microwave and reheated was very soggy, also while having the food the boy did not come and ask if the food was all okay i kept trying to get his attention but he seemed like he was to busy on his phone leaning over the bar , then at the end he took my husband plate when i hadn’t finish my food witch i find very rude!!! He also told me after the meal that i couldn’t pay with my card as the card machine wasn’t working which he should have told me at the beginning lucky i had some money on me

A great little restaurant, but lacks in customer service I asked him many questions, but he didn’t have a clue what I was saying First time eating Greek food, so really, wanted recommendation and advice, but I didn’t receive it apart from this I did enjoy the food chips could’ve been cooked a little longer.

Went in for lunch with my family on my first day in the area. We were refused service due to the owner’s lack of knowledge about Assistance Dogs right to access (equality act 2010). Very rude and unaccommodating so won’t be visiting again. Didn’t get a chance to try the food but have been told that it’s not that great anyway… Clearly not a safe space for disabled people!

Wow. What a find the second! We stayed in Crosscombe - beautiful but no restaurants or grocery stores. We found this place and it was fantastic! We had the mixed grill. Chicken gyro. Both with chips. Greek salad to share. Red and white wine. Service was great. The food was incredible - fit for a king! This was like an oasis. We had already come from Wells and did not want to drive all the way back for dinner. This place was just perfect!

This place is amazing, a beautiful restaurant in the centre of town. The staff can not do enough for you, attentive (but not in your face) and always there with a helpful suggestion or advice on the menu. The only reason I have dropped to 4 stars for service is that when we were there one of the staff was brushing her hair behind the bar, which obviously doesn't sit well with food hygiene standards! Apart from that, the food was amazing, and plenty of it, and all at a realty good price. We have been here many times and will be back!

We were excited to learn that they delivered to our campsite (Batcombe vale), it was a very wet weekend so this made our night. The food was excellent, really fresh and arrived on time and was lovely and hot!

I live in Australia and travel around the world often for work I have to say the chicken was the best I’ve ever had so tender and juicy with amazing herbs, great service and a lovely restaurant, will hopefully be back to visit again before I leave. 5 stars all round and highly recommend. Definitely up there for best food I’ve ever had.

Not necessarily authentic Greek food but had a good range of meals and very big portions! The service was good and the waitress was really helpful and friendly.

We've been here several times now and we love it! Good atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff, lovely to have a Grecophile's bolt-hole so close to home. Can't understand the complaining review from the lady saying she 'doesn't eat shaved chicken ' (actually gyros is monumentally delicious and is THE street food of Greece so she may actually have preferred it to the souvlaki), but maybe staff misheard her order, after all she appears not to be able to spell souvlaki so her verbal pronunciation may also be a bit vague. Either way, souvlaki or gyros, moussaka or pasticcio, it's all good here! We'll be back soon. Yas!

Um .. was so excited to try this place. Starter.... garlic bread and cheese... at £6.50 was a disgrace. Main course was delicious.. chicken souvlaki .. yum ... service was OK... needs more staff ... funny smell of damp at our table ... ALSO - on a Saturday evening - no credit card - cash only! thankfully the ATM was working at the Morrisons on the corner! Was not told at the start of the meal ... Anyway, apart from Greek beer and music ... not very Greek... Will not be returning ...

Wow what a find! We looked for a restaurant prior to an evening tour of Shepton Mallet Prison and this little gem didn't disappoint! Lovely restaurant on the High Street, makes you feel like you are in Greece. Authentic food, plenty of choice on the menu and the portions were generous. Great service from the friendly staff. Highly recommended if your in the area

The food was excellent and huge portions. The waitress was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. This place is overlooked, do yourself a favour and visit, you won't be disappointed.

Poor Shepton Mallet is quite run down at the moment but Rosemary is a lovely option for dinner when staying in the area. Good quality food. Well sized portions and great value for money and friendly service.

I dined here with 3 others for lunch and it was absolutely perfect. Our server Krystle was very attentive, kind and super helpful. It’s our first time in the UK and not only did she give us great recommendations on where to go she gave us a car charger for our phones. I took my two boys to Rosemary Greek restaurant a couple of days ago on our return from a family break in Bath. The three of us had chicken and pork gyros' and I can only say that the quality of the meat, pitta breads...

I booked a table, we arrived before hand, waited 10 min for the waitress to take the order she was busy socialising with her girlies, half an hour later the food arrived, I though it might worth the wait but no, the food was cold, Calamary deep fried and thin, meatballs warmed using a microwave, same applies for pitta bread, a good portion of the platter is sliced tomatoes and olive, sausages were dead cold, and half a block of white cheese, it seems the chef prefers everything deep fried. I don’t mind waiting for food, but for heaven sake serve it hit not cold or warned in microwave.

Went in for a late lunch, highly impressed! Pricing was overall quite good, waitress was super friendly and the food was excellent. Seafood spagetti was beautifully made, sometimes from a restaurant it can come out quite bland but it was spiced to perfection. Highly recommend

A gorgeous clean, bright restaurant in the centre of Shepton hightstreet, with friendly, attentive staff 🇬🇷⭐ The main was very nice, I even took the remainder home to enjoy the next day, however there's a real missed opportunity in serving a lettuce based salad in a Greek restaurant- a classic Greek salad would be a much more authentic addition. I also think the main would've benefitted with more tzatziki or an additional dip as the plate was slightly dry. Despite these points, I did thoroughly enjoy myself and I would be happy to visit again to try out the rest of the menu.

Ordered 3 chicken slouvaki, 1 creamy chicken and a bruschetta. 45 mins later my son arrived with 3 chicken gyros and the rest of the order. I phoned to complain as I won’t eat shaved chicken and I was told I had ordered gyros. I didn’t. I’ve never eaten gyros from there ever and the girl who argued with me for 5 minutes over the phone told me that I had. Asked my whereabouts in the 45 mins it took to call them ( I explained that my son Had gone to boots for medicine for my elderly grandma. The overall experience I take from this ( she hung up on me ) is to be very very careful and get her to repeat back all of your order ( she didn’t do this - my fault for not checking ) even if they’d offered to change the chicken it would have been something but they are rude and obviously don’t have the customers interests at heart. £60 later and I can’t eat what the girl misheard over the phone. Gyros or slouvaki ?! Don’t sound the same to me! Food is mediocre at best anyway.

What a superb meal. Everything was so obviously freshly cooked. The staff wete so friendly and helpful. I would say that this was one of the best lunches we have had recently.

Lovely staff. Coffee machine broken so only offering tea! My husbands beer was off so they gave him a replacement. He reckoned they just swapped glasses! Plates were cold so food cooled quickly. For Friday night we were surprised how quiet it was. Should have raised a red flag! Perhaps they were having an off night so will try again in the future and give them a 2nd chance!

Ate lunch at Rosemary 2 on an incredibly hot Sunday. Only came in as everywhere else was shut, but really glad we did, food was great, fresh and tasty, well priced with generous proportions. Service was also great. Would definitely recommend.

We went to here the other evening to celebrate my birthday, always wanted to try here!! Just had dinner, food had lots of potential but was evident that the kitchen couldn't be bothered and was lazy. Bread was burnt, prawn dish was cold and just all seemed very rushed. There was only 4 other people in the restaurant so there wasn't any excuse really. Gave feedback but but didn't get much response from the waiter. Excellent Greek Restaurant, visited again today for lunch. Food was amazing. Last visited before Covid, and was pleased to find it had survived. We hope to return again soon.
