Rose & Crown At Redmarley in Forest of Dean

Although we only live 25 mins away we had not come across this pub. Saw an ad on our local Facebook page earlier in the day for the Reivers Gallows who were playing at 4 ( brilliant band!) What a fabulous place. Friendly customers, great atmosphere and delicious pizza. Spent a great couple of hours watching the band. Thrilled to see they have live music every Sunday and at a decent time 4-7. Already planning our next visit and can see this becoming one of regular haunts

Arrived on a Saturday we phoned ahead to see of we could park our campervan as we wanted to see Texas tick fever a band we enjoy, allowed to camp free, use of toilet and sink outside 24 hours, had a fantastic pizza on Saturday night and returned next day for Sunday lunch it was tremendous. Great food lovely people good place many thanks

Arrived yesterday with my husband and dog for one night to go to a dog show.From the outside looked OK but when entering the room it looked so dated and unkempt.There was wet towels on the bed, we immediately returned them, only to be given the same ones back probably after they'd tried to dry them.I knew this as there was brown stains on them. (They were still damp & fusty) .Paint was flaking from the walls.Was going to eat here but decided to go elsewhere. The room wasn't cheap either, stayed in far better rooms with breakfast included for much less.

Really lovely pub with great food. Plenty of parking and outdoor space. We enjoyed build your own burgers and pizza here. We were there on a Tuesday night with a mix of ages and it was already busy at 5.30pm, which is a good sign. Definitely worth a visit.

On holiday less than a mile away so made a visit for Sunday roast and very nice too. We opted for the Lamp along with the usual veg and it was everything you could expect. Pigged out on dessert as well 1x sticky toffee pudding (to die for) and a meringue nest. Staff friendly and efficient. Pub is dog friendly.

We stayed here after a wedding and turned up late, but the owners couldn't do enough for us! Super friendly and accommodating. A little gem of a place with fabulous homemade food. The bed was comfy and the room was clean and cosy. But it is the people that make a place, and they are so wonderfully friendly ☺️ we will certainly be recommending this place to as many people as possible! Thank you guys!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The choice for me on a restricted diet was amazing. I didn't feel left out at all, I think nearly everything on the menu had a Gluten Free Alternative, there was so much choice that I will have to go back again to try some of the other delicious menu choices. Reasonably priced as well. I would highly recommend.

My mother and I went here for lunch. When we arrived at 13:00ish there was nobody else present apart from the barmaid. We chose a table, ordered drinks, another couple arrived on another table and we ordered food. Given we only had one portion of hot food (scampi), we thought it should arrive quickly. There was very little choice for my gluten-free mother (85 yrs old, didnt want a burger or lasagne). After 35mins we were offered new potatoes with the prawn cocktail (as we had considered chips - but they werent gluten-free). We accepted the offer but only if that did not add to the waiting time, we were assured that it wouldnt. 10mins later (now 2pm) I asked if we could forget the potatoes and just have what they could put on a plate. 45mins after ordering, my mother got her prawn cocktail (deconstructed: salad, prawns and separte sauce) and cold potatoes (we were missing the coleslaw we had ordered) and I got a small plate of scampi and salad. My mother has always suggested this pub as its local to her, althought I have never rated it. She asked me to remind her not to suggest it again.

The Rose and Crown offers just about everything that one could wish in terms of ambience, food quality and good value. They are especially helpful when it comes to catering for my various food allergies and we eat at the pub and enjoy their excellent takeaways at regular intervals. Nothing is too much trouble and every member of staff is very friendly

We stopped for lunch on way from Wales. Service was excellent and the food, Shepherds pie, was very good. Had a nice pint of Butty Bach also.

I Would highly recommend a visit to the Rose & Crown. The food is great, and always freshly prepared. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Ros And Nigel have created a lovely environment, for all to enjoy.

An excellent Christmas meal served by friendly staff to our party of 17 walkers. Generous portions of food and nothing was too much trouble for Roz and her team.

Friends recommended staying here to my fella and so my husband booked us in for the night for my birthday and it really was lovely! It is hard to find dog-friendly accommodation but ours was welcomed and the room did not smell of dog, which was great! Food was delicious in the evening and the breakfast amazing! It was brought to us on a large plate (my husband actually thought initially it was all for him and that he wouldn't be able to manage it all!)...it was, however, for us both - we just helped ourselves. The staff were lovely also - very friendly and welcoming! The customers were great too - it was a really relaxed atmosphere. We will stay here again as the food, drinks and room were very well priced! Thank you for your hospitality.
