Food and drinks as expected. Childs meal offer good but tiny starter and desert portions. Very good service from pleasant lady waitresses

It seemed like we were forgotten. Plenty of young men with crash helmets being served before the diners in the restaurant! Waited over an hour for our pizza only to be told that they hadn’t even been made. We left and got fish and chips on the way home. Very disappointed.

Gloucester Quays' staff were attentive and caring and nothing was too much trouble.

Just had a 3 course dinner from there on a Sunday evening around 6:30pm. Went in and got served a table, about 6 other tables at this point, so quiet. Noticed about 5 other tables were still dirty and full of plates and glasses from other customers. Ordered and it took forever for the dough balls to come out. I had a view of the kitchen so could see when they were made. When they did get to us they were cold. By this point about 5 other tables occupied and still same amount of dirty tables. Finished them and again ages for main pizza. In the meantime 1 of the server girls managed to make a hot chocolate for themselves and have a good chat. Now about 4 other tables occupied and same amount of dirty tables (plus 1 more as somebody left). Even more chatting now between staff, kitchen staff on his phone and bored customers. Ordered dessert including a coffee, coffee was cold and got no bits with it like spoon or sugar etc…. Paid and left and the manager was the only one who said goodbye (even though she didn’t serve us) and now another table dirty. I’m assuming this is why it was quiet. I’ve been to others where it has been tidy and quicker. I’d understand a bit better if it was busier. If you have time to lean then you have time to clean.

Edit: 06/08/2024 - VERY different experience this time round. Quality of the food, service, the entire experience, about 1000% improved on our previous visit. Had we been able to recall the names of the two ladies waiting on our table I'd name-drop them, but suffice to say they were brilliant. We went in as a table of 9 and everyone left full, happy, and taken care of 😊👍 --------- Previous review: Definitely a mixed bag! Overall, a positive experience, but with some caveats. The food was excellent - the Barbacoa was very tasty indeed and perfectly cooked. Similarly, the first drinks we had were great, as was the service... ... until the owner / front-of-house stepped out for his lunch-break. The two women who were left running table service immediately took their foot off the proverbial gas, and I would be generous in saying that the end result was minimum effort. Speed of service reduced to about 50%, which (bearing in kind there were only 4 covers in at the time) beggared belief, and we were left nursing empty glasses and waiting to order our dessert course for 20 mins and, once ordered, there was no rush in delivering our order. Another 25 mins to deliver two coffees and an ice cream, when there was little else to do. The coffees (now cold, but we couldn't be bothered to complain; our mood had soured by this stage so much that we just wanted to leave) were eventually delivered, only after the aforementioned owner returned from lunch and some effort and urgency returned to the waiting staff. Not what I've come to expect from Pizza Express - and if the pizzas weren't so darn tasty I'd probably give them a miss in future...

The delivery guy is one of maybe two who have found our house without getting lost. Whilst my delivery time got moved 3 times, this was due to the restaurant and not him. The food was still really yummy though, and warm.

didn’t get garlic bread just got bread. £7 wasted. i had to wait flipping ages for my garlic bread and it literally came out plain ???? like girl what ? and it was £7 and i couldn’t even send it back because my friend already ate it

Only reason for 4 stars was the food was warm and needed heating up once it was here. Quality and taste wise was on point.

Got a Caesar salad, the egg had shell on one piece and hair on another, croutons had hairs on to, chicken was dry, really cold and rubbery

Fantastic as always. Go here every month or so with my partner for a little date night. Great pizza, really fast and friendly service and the discounts and rewards on the app make it worthwhile. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere only because the interior is a bit outdated. Would be nice for a revamp!

Two of us went here on a quiet Sunday evening, on arrival the waitress told us that it was only the two of them getting stuff done that evening so things may be a bit longer wait than usual, we were fine with that and it was great to be told at the get go. Throughout the evening our waitress made sure that we were all happy and just brought a wonderful energy to our experience which made the whole meal so much better. Can’t recommend this place and the staff enough!

Ordered food for a birthday party and it arrived late. Pizza Express have blamed Just Eat and won’t take any further action. Just Eat don’t respond and PE don’t appear to care that their choice of courier service makes them look bad. Add to the the store manage was no help on the day and didn’t care in the slightest.

This was ordered for a children’s party and it arrived after the cake. Given the restaurant is 100m away from the venue, 15 mins late is totally unacceptable. Really dissatisfied!

One of the best pizzas in Gloucester.

After initially being seated within 5 minutes, the rest of the experience was appalling, absolutely no customer service. The waitress continuley walked past our table of 4 people without acknowledging us and avoiding eye contact, no offer of drinks being taken and certainly no intention of our order being taken. Despite there being apprx 6 staff visible, our table appeared to be invisible even though it was clear we hadn't ordered with 4 menus flat on the table. After 15 minutes attempted to talk to a different passing waitress delivering food to another table, she seemed confused why our waitress hadn't taken any kind of order and said she would be back, but minutes later she was unpacking what appeared to be a dishwasher, with our waitress once again avoiding our table. We set ourselves a time of 20 minutes to be served, which passed and with that we all stood and walked up, again with no acknowledgement from the waitress, as someone who has been a Retail Manager for over 25 years, this zero customer service is unacceptable for a major restaurant chain and shows how times have changed, obviously needs retraining or finding an alternative career.

Terrible service at this restaurant on Friday 29th March at 2pm, seated in good time and ignored for 20 minutes, despite asking to be served, no one came to take our order or offer us drinks. We ended up leaving.

We hadn't booked but turned up just before it got busy last Saturday, Sam greeted us and squeezed us in for a quick dinner just moments before it got busy with bookings which we were really grateful for. Food was the usual reliable Pizza Express fare, I like eating here because there are good gluten free options. We were served by Sam and a waitress whose name I didn't catch but they were both really helpful, friendly and efficient.

Pizzas were burnt on the bottom one of them just tasted of burnt bread so was inedible a waste of money so very disappointed as this was supposed to be a treat

Saturday lunch last minutes walk in. we were seen to very quickly and they fitted us in even with 2 party tables going on. very friendly quick service sorted out our dietary requirements and we had a lovely meal thank you

I came here with my sister and her two children on a week night as a treat. I can't fault the friendliness of the server, but the service (considering the restaurant was no more than 40% full of mostly tables of 2) was so abysmally slow. We ordered a starter for the two children which was dough balls and the kids meal starter dough balls - it took over half an hour for those to arrive, and about an hour from ordering for the mains (we ended up going to ask how much longer at one point). The food tasted fine, but it was so slow to arrive that the kids were getting bored and tired by that point - to be honest, so were the adults!

I Booked a table of 7 for my daughter’s 14th birthday. (25th Jan) Arianne was our waitress and was very friendly and attentive .The food came out quickly and was delicious. I took a cake in and Arianne sliced it and lit the candles for us. We all had a lovely time and couldn’t fault the service. Hope you enjoyed the slice of birthday cake 🎂

Popped in for dinner. , and it was very clean and airey , the staff all very friendly , we had a great server her name was talia Very helpful explaining the menu and made a great coffee to , grand job 👍

Very beautiful gorgeous food very hot too

We were located less than 100 yards from the pick up point and the driver took almost an hour to deliver, he went completely the wrong way several times!! This was not acceptable. This was a birthday treat which ended on a negative! Everything was cold by the time it arrive, parents gad to pay for additional parking and it ruined my son’s 10th birthday. At no point did the driver even try to call me to ask for directions! We were literally around the corner!

Food was freezing & congealed as courier had paper bag out of insulated carrier, on the carpark ground whilst he called us & waited for us to come out.

For the price I at least expected some toppings. Almost £20 for a bbq beef pizza with next to no beef on it. I’ve had it once before in the restaurant and it deffo didn’t live up the standard of the first time I tried it. Won’t order it again. Won’t order from here again at all.

Maddi, Arianna and Sam made us welcome from the outset. They were attentive, helpful and very efficient. (Maddi took a drinks order and remembered each person in the party’s beverage when she delivered them). We brought a cake for my son’s birthday which was looked after during the meal. The team then added candles and sang happy birthday! They couldn’t have been more helpful. Thank you all!!!

Unfortunately the pizza was cold

We had a delivery by uber..arrived when it advised. However food was disgusting. Pizza cold, not cut into slices, our pizza cutter struggled to cut through the pizza, ended up having to tear pieces off. It was that cold that the top layer ie sauce and topping came away from the base. Pasta was under cooked, cold hardly any sauce, onions not even cut properly left in rings. Dough balls were cold and chewy inedible and garlic bread sticks cold and hard. All in all ... everything cold, no taste and very expensive meal that we binned!!!!

To be honest we only ate here as they had tables free and we were in a bit of a hurry. The food is edible except perhaps the polenta fries! Normal fries would have been much more welcome. The price of the food however is shocking for what you get, I wasn't much impressed and won't be going back

Absolutely terrible. Pizzas were stone cold literally! Not to mention that I ordered mozzarella & tomato/pesto starter and I have had more mozzarella from a pot in Tescos for less money than I have at Pizza Express. Please don’t waste your money in Pizza Express and actually go somewhere worth your time and money. Go to Zizis, Portivo or Carluccios!!

We booked a children’s party at Pizza express Gloucester for our little boy turning 7. 11 children attended the party and it was superb. I had so many parents saying to me they never knew they did parties and how lovely it was to do something different. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves which meant we didn’t have to worry about noise. The 2 ladies running the party were friendly, engaging and couldn’t do more to make sure everything went to plan. My little boy said it was his favourite birthday yet. Children had little hats and aprons to wear, they all went and washed their hands, they talked about ingredients in the dough so I felt it was educational and fun. The children each had a colouring pack with lots of colours for when they had to wait but they just enjoyed the atmosphere and chatting to one another. They all made their pizzas with a wonderful variety of toppings. Whilst they were cooking the children had dough balls each and a side salad. They were provided with unlimited squash and jugs of water. They all enjoyed their whole pizzas and were then given a pizza box to take the rest home. They played pin the moustache on the waiter, we did the birthday cake and they provided us with boxes so each child could take home a slice of cake. They finished the party with ice creams and chocolate sauce. 11 very happy children. All the parents ended up staying and relaxed at other tables, they had hot drinks, there was a really lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend as it was reasonably priced for everything included and an easy, stress free party for me. I loved seeing the children enjoying themselves, they had the best time and it was something different. Would definitely book a children’s party again. Thank you for all your hard work

Absolutely brilliant service from all staff during our dinner tonight. We were lucky enough to be seated without a booking and felt very welcomed by staff who were friendly and made the meal very enjoyable. We loved the desserts and would strongly recommend the snowflake brownie and the roulade! Thank you to our server Keira and all other members of the team, we will be returning!

Ordered at 1.15pm stating it would arrive at 2.20pm. Ordered didn't arrive till 4pm. The pizzas was cold on arrival as well. When speaking to the restaurant after an hour they claimed it had been picked up. Another 45 minutes passed and still no food. We then tried ringing again but no ansewer. It wasn't untill speaking to customer service That our order was sorted.

Staff at Gloucester Quays Pizza Express were incredibly attentive and accommodating at our daughter’s pizza making party! They were really engaging with all the children, playing games in between making pizzas and the party ran smoothly from start to finish. Staff were super helpful and lovely throughout! Pizzas, dough balls and gelato all tasted delicious! Would recommend a Pizza Express pizza making party at this restaurant.

Disappointed.me and my friends dined In on Saturday around 3pm. When we arrived we were asked if we had booked and were made to feel as if we were bothering the staff to get a table when there were plenty available . were sat under a table with blasting air con (table 4) that made our pizza cold. Foward to dessert my friends chocolate cake which stated “baked in the oven “ came out freezing cold. We were told we should have asked for it to be warmed up if we wanted it hot in quite a confrontational way.after insisting the waitress then took the cake warmed it and put the same melted ice cream onto another plate. When paying for the bill another waitress who I believe to of been a manager said she would not calculate our individual bills and was pressuring us to pay quickly huffing and puffing . Pizza was ok apart from it being cold but the attitude of these 2 staff made the meal disappointing. Would never come here again.

Terrible, terrible service. My food was over 2 hours late. My kids fell asleep waiting so went to bed hungry. I called 34 times and no one answered. When it did arrive the food was freezing cold and very poor standard. No one was awake to eat it anyway so it’s sat on the kitchen side. What a waste. I will never entertain eating here ever again. So annoyed.

Visited on a quiet November evening and could not fault the food or service. We both enjoyed 3 courses and all dishes were fresh and tasty. I had not been to this restaurant for several years but will return as the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

ordered a takeaway for my family of 3 last nights of the 40% off deal of ‘Family Four-piece (Large Starter, 2 Piccolo & 2 Classic Pizzas)’. I made my order at 19:33 with a deliver time of 20:00-20:20. The order kept getting later and later and eventually arrived at gone 20:40. By this time, I had to get my son an alternative meal before he went to bed. When the food came, it was absolutely not able to feed a family for 4 as stated. All the pizzas were lacking on toppings to the point the CLASSIC piccolo pollo had nothing on it other than a very small amount of cheese. I am a parent on a very low income and I chose to treat my family with your deal as it was stated to feed a family of 4 with 40% off and this was certainly not true to form. It’s very rare I am able to afford a takeaway and this was nothing other than disappointing and I would like to request a full refund for being mid sold what turned out to be a very expensive meal.

Sadly, our order was late, cold, and not to the standard I would expect from a premium takeaway.

Busy pizzeria, with a trucated menu in the pizza department. Service could be slicker, food and wine good. We visited at early / mid afternoon on a Saturday[ there were lots of families wirh small children, but everyone enjoying themselves. One issue is that there are NO seated tiolets in the Gents, only urinals, which prove dtonbe somethingof a dilemma for a single father, and very small daughter; he was obviously planning to let the 5 year old girl use the mens cubicle- but there wasn't one. So he had to explain details to the young girl and just hope that she would not lock then door when she visited the ladies. Luckily the girl had far more sense than the planning dept of Pizza Express, and the potential sece of a 5 year old being locked alone in a toilet was averted. PPoor management, and worth thinking about if you are taking your child here........

Sunday lunch - 2 pizzas - one arrived then a pause (already not good); waiter comes over and says “by accident we’ve put sour cream on your pizza - will you accept it or would you like us to do you another one?” Dilemma - wait for a new one to be cooked and eat lunch at different times OR accept a less than ideal pizza??? We chose the latter but in the meantime the head waitress had come over and made us feel like it was our fault! Appalling customer service and would never eat there again

We went to collect some Pizzas but they have gone downhill dramatically. Firstly we ordered a Romana pizza with dough balls and then a kids pizza with dough balls aswell. When we got back there was no kids dough balls and garlic butter and no garlic butter with the bigger portion of dough balls. Not following the order correctly isn’t justified as we didn’t receive what we ordered. I won’t be ordering from here again!

Shambles ..started well, then daughter-in-laws prosecco arrived flat .. replacement flat..third attempt ok. After a long wait for mains made enquiry - ordering gizmo had crashed, order not placed, no one checked on us. Eventually arrived - generally ok but wife's lasagne, though tasty, was burnt around the edges. No apology at end of recompense for inconvenience. Won't rush back. Expensive for what it was. Atmosphere pretty bleak.

Delicious food, very good with Gluten free, Sam was a wonderful waitress and very attentive. Whole staff were very willing to help and very very good at reassuring us coeliacs about gluten free food. Could not recommend enough for a lovely gluten free pizza & dough balls experience!

We were served today by Sam. By far the best service we have ever had. The food was also amazing, compliments to the chef. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Sam and the team at Gloucester Quays :)

So disappointed with the Gloucester branch. The food was just as delicious as other branches, but apart from that there were a number of issues. First they wrote our booking on a random piece of paper so when we arrived they couldn't find the booking on the system. They were incredibly slow with the food, they did say they were short staffed but the place was almost empty. Then they messed up our order. Disappointing.

Called in on the Saturday of the retro festival. Had not prebooked but was shown to a table after a short wait at the front desk. After being seated was given the menu. Spent some time making our food and drink choices. Then waited for a staff member to take our order. And waited and waited. Over 15 minutes passed. Waiting staff walked past us regularly and did not acknowledge us. So we left not that anyone was remotely bothered. Very disappointed. Pizza Express you can do better than this

Keira was lovely, food came on time and kids were happy. Easy place to dine with young kids...

Good stop for a lunch for eight, including three small children. Staff were helpful and didn't mind the strange requests for the children. The place was clean and airy with an open feel making it nice to sit in and eat.

A terrible experience. We were sat to a table quickly but that was it. After waiting a while to order drinks and food, we waited a further at least 40 mins before asking whether our food would be arriving soon. I cannot fault the waitress who was lovely. She was bubbly and friendly. However we were told that the kitchen had ‘messed up’ the order and they would be redoing it. I have a feeling that they forgot our order completely as I saw tables who had ordered after us being served well before us. It’s not as if the order was complex either - a couple of pizzas and a garlic bread. We gave up as we had somewhere else to be and told the waitress not to worry about our order. We thought perhaps as a goodwill gesture drinks would be on the house. £7 spent on drinks that were not consumed alongside food in a restaurant and time wasted sat around. If I wanted that experience I would have gone to the pub. I can also guarantee I would not have been seated if I had said I only wanted a couple of drinks. I also observed tables being cleaned rather than food being served which baffled me. It was up there waiting and the kitchen had called for service. We should have been told if there was going to be a particularly long wait time on arrival. I understand that it can be busy on a Saturday, however if I’m going to be waiting over an hour for food I’d like the option to either wait or go elsewhere. Dear manager - your generic reply to negative reviews on here is clearly not changing things. Do better! Maybe employ more staff - I’m sure that would negate the majority of issues.

Had a great time in pizza express. We were a party of 11 that arrived at different times, Kris was ready to take our drinks order as we arrived before taking our food orders. Food was delicious, tasty and hot. We were here for a few hours and Kris made sure that we had everything we needed, not an easy job with a larger table.

Children’s party here was absolutely fantastic, kids enjoyed themselves and were well entertained and looked after by V, thank you!

Kiera was a brilliant server and nothing was too much trouble, making sure that there were no allergens in the deserts we ordered. Food was good and a slight issue we had was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Toilets were clean and well cared for. Recommend

Alisha was quality helped us through all the tack on the app , the food was delicious and the dough witch was given to us through the app. Alisha’s customer was 10/10 if you get a server as good as this would like to know as no one can do better the small talk she can make with us was incredible. Great restaurant she is the reason I will be returning

Easy to order, great taste, exactly what we ordered and fast delivery definitely use again.

Speed of service was an issue today, obviously down to being short staffed. Air conditioning was on which was quite cold when sat underneath the vent. Pizza was OK, but the pollo pesto was very dry and claggy.

Had a nice lunch/dinner today. Kris our server was very friendly and helpful, which made our experience positive from the start. Great food and the presentation was really good as well. Will definitely be coming back!

Fairly busy and lots of choices locally. Seated quickly and asked if a wanted a drink. My waitress Kiera was excellent, big smile, enthusiastic and when I ordered an American Hot recommended mixed peppers - which was a great call. Food was excellent, service exemplary - happy to recommend

We always enjoy a pizza express. This one though was a bit hectic….I think they had been busy, but we were able to have a walk in table…it was a Saturday evening! We ordered quite quickly but had quite a long wait for the pasta and salad! The extra breadsticks were missing and after catching the managers eye…she did eventually turn up with some…but then added it again to our bill!! The food was quite good and the waitress nice and friendly…unfortunately we didn’t get her name.
