Ropers Arms Italian Bistro in Boston

Went to the Ropers with friends ..our first visit. Situated along the River in Horncastle Road Boston, The Ropers is an old pub now converted into an Italian Bistro. The manager was very friendly, and welcoming., and offered us home made crisps which were so delicous. Sadly my meal didn’t live up to the high expectation l had. My tempura prawns were all batter and hardly any prawn..not very nice at all.My chicken in mushroom main coarse was quite tough as Infact was my wife’s steak. Sadly a rather disappointing visit.

Our go to place for Italian! The food, service and ambiance was absolutely brilliant as always. Thanks for the warm welcome as always and for looking after us all. See you all again soon.

This is my happy place. I was lucky enough to spend my summers in Italy as my Aunt married into an Italian family. The food here is always the true taste of Italy and we always feel like family when we eat here. Very busy Wednesday evening dinner…… we found this place on Trip Advisor as we were on holiday in the area. We booked in advance via WhatsApp and devised to inform them if we wished to cancel. Our table was booked for 1900hrs … we had the meat and cheese to share for starters and a carbonara and a chili,garlic,bacon and tomato dish for mains…. All tables were given a complimentary starter of what looked like fried thin potato skins .. these were delicious! The restaurant was extremely busy so if you want to dine here you will need to book…. We got talking to the owner once we paid our bill, an extremely friendly chap, he gave us an insight to the restaurant and informed us that it’s just his wife working in the kitchen…… BRAVO! An excellent menu using high quality ingredients…. People of Boston….. you have a great place here…. Please don’t let it go to waste!

Very nice starter, that me and my wife had. Main corse was also very good, staff were very attentive and friendly when ordering your food.

Our latest visit , with a gap that has been too long ! From booking a table , to the friendly arrival greetings , we love this place and the food is amazing . Warm ,cosy and rustic . You would not think we are in Boston. Our gang had fish stew , a repeat order from previous visits . Salmon tagliatelle, and I had steak with cream peppercorn sauce . The menu is amazing with choice . Puddings are super . The meal ended with complimentary lemon cello, yum! Booked back in and can t wait

We booked this for our works Christmas meal. The food was really flavourful, well presented and lots of it. The staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough to make sure our night was perfect . Sat in front of the open fire too . Thank you Ropers . Will definitely go again .

After reading the reviews we phoned and booked well in advance of our 3 night stay in Boston. Lovely welcome from the owner on arrival and fabulous food --Very generous portions. Would highly recommend and will definitely revisit if ever in the area again.

Managed to get a table with a friend of the owner, old traditional English pub on the outskirts of Boston, authentic fresh Italian food and great selection of seafood . Ran by a husband and wife team with a passion for doing good food and looking after their customers. Service and food exceptional and will definitely be back

It has been an age since we ate at the Ropers Arms. And nothing has changed it is quality food through and through. Service was amazing and friendly, my.wife had the chicken and mushrooms meal I had the ropers arms pollo, this is breaded chicken, mushrooms in a sauce with Provolone cheese on top, it was great 👍 As already mentioned the staff are very attentive and nice.

As I was staying in Boston on my own for work I called in hoping they might have a spare table. Despite being very busy I was made to feel very welcome. The service was warm friendly and efficient and the food was wonderful. I can highly recommend Ropers Arms Italian Restaurant it is a real gem.

Excellent, as always. We have been a few times, and every time has been really good. The food is probably the best in town, and service is good too. You normally have to book a long way in advance, but you can ask to be put on the waiting list for a particular date in case of cancellations, which do happen.

Really have struggled to get a table of a weekend, finally got a table and certainly wasn't disappointed, absolutely spot on, the best and only Italian/ Mediterranean restaurant I'd go to in the local area

I keep coming back again and again. The food is extraordinary. The service is impeccable. Had the seafood stew last night 10/10. Will be back in no time. Love the husband and wife owners. Genuine humble nice honest people serving extraordinary food.

The restaurant is a 5-10 minute walk from the centre of Boston but well worth the trip. The staff were friendly and could not make us feel more welcome. The food and service was first class, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Went a couple of days before Christmas in an area not famed for good restaurants this was a nice suprise vegtable chips bought to the table with gin and tonics nice starters very good pasta and steak served with nicely cooked vegetables the restaurant was warm and cosy which makes a change to some I have been to recently where wearing an overcoat is necessary, very friendly professional service from the owner I believe his wife is the chef deserves to succeed .

Lovely and cosy small restaurant, not always easy to get a booking but when you do it doesn't disappoint. Attentive staff and really great Italian food.

Wow having just returned from Sorrento in Italy we were looking forward to going been waiting for 6 weeks as that was the 1st night fur a booking. Well worth the wait food every bit as good as our 5* hotel food. The cook is the wife cooked everything from fresh we were told this on ordering there is a wait but we never noticed. Even a fussy eater raved about his meal and that's a BIG praise . The puddings homemade the most fantastic creamy pud I could of eaten another 1 was so good. I wished I could be as good a cook as the wife she cooks all on her own and her husband front of house. The young girls who waitress just as pleasant altogether they make a very homely friendly team well done. We have booked again this time taking all our grown up kids and partners. I have been to the ropers several times, and not once been disappointed.I have tried most dishes on the menu and still don’t know which is my favourite, as hey are all very very good. But you do get spoilt for when you go somewhere else,this is definitely my favourite all time. All cooked to order. You do have to book in advance for weekends.

We have heard so many good reviews and we have tried to book on a few occasions but unfortunately we have not been able to get in.......now we know why!

A regular dining experience for us if we can get a table. Never had a bad meal. My only tiny criticism is access to the toilet, through the yard. Don't let this put you off. Go and enjoy

I read the reviews about booking and the friendly staff.. I am so glad I did as both are true. The staff are incredible extremely welcoming and friendly. I managed to sneak a last minute table at 6pm on a Tuesday... this is not because the restaurant is full this is to ensure the kitchen isn't over run and can cook each dish from fresh.. just wow... The complimentary vegetable crisps dusted in parmesan are an amazing change to the standard olive oil and breads also a real conversation starter.. My starter was amazing.. fresh vibrant and so full of flavour. The hams sliced to perfection and drizzled with balsamic.. wow. I was looking forward to my main.. IT JUST DID NOT DISSAPOINT!! Where to start.. well the pasta cooked to al dente perfection.. the sausage and bacon within the wonderfully crafted chilli and garlic sauce was actually sublime... I just could not fault this meal and would rate it as one of the best Italian meals I have ever eaten.. I can't wait to return..

Once again, an excellent meal. The most recent of several visits to this Bistro and yet again I have failed to resist the allure of the Fish Stew. Packed with white fish and shellfish this dish is as good as any I have eaten in the mediterranean. Service excellent. What more can I say, except, go there, soon.

Booked as an anniversary treat, staff are friendly restaurant is lovely. Had a chicken dish with a tomato sauce which was a really nice meal my only criticism would be it was very salty. Food comes out nice and hot and love that it is served with potatoes rather than chips. Hubby had a past dish and he said it was really nice. Would visit again.

A cracking meal! We shared a lovely bottle of pinot whilst choosing our food. We had the sharing meats platter which was lovely and filling- £14.50 So same price as 2 starters.

We were so pleased that we managed to get a table on a Saturday night without booking, we arrived just after 6pm and luckily they squeezed us in as they were fully booked throughout the night.

Been here several times. Staff always seem to have a smile of their face and service is good. The decor inside is a little tatty however the food always tastes great and appears to be freshly prepared. You won’t get a pizza here but there is a great selection of pastas/fish/steak to choose and we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive even when visiting on a Saturday night. Didn’t feel like we were being rushed either so made it a more relaxing and enjoyable experience.

We went early on a Saturday 5 pm , eight of us , we all had some thing different , we didn't all have starters as the main meals are huge , you need a good appetite , and once again it did not disappoint . The staff are great very friendly and good sense of humour , nothing too much trouble . Definitely recommend , but booking way in advance as always busy .
