Roma Italian Delicatessen in Christchurch

Found ourselves passing by while visiting Christchurch & decided to pop in as fancied some Deli delights that evening... WHAT A FIND!! Lovely Italian / Spanish couple serving and advising on their cornucopia of artisanal products. Whether it's sweet or savoury (our is both!) you will not be disappointed. A REAL GEM!!!!

Beautiful food whether a snack a meal or individual ingredients, we’ve been customers of Roma for years pre and post Covid. So pleased to see they have survived. I love the produce they sell and practicing my Italian. If I can’t be in Italy this place offers a close second. Please give them a try you won’t be disappointed. Great Wine, meats, cheese and seasonal too as at Christmas they do traditional panettone also. I love this place and will definitely continue to revisit.

Visited again whilst on hols and had some amazing food, that good had to bring some back with us, we so wish we lived closer. Thank you for your warm and friendly welcome and recommendations, all tasty and fantastic quality

Wonderful products, particularly the tiramisu, which my husband said was the best he’s ever eaten…… great range of authentic fresh and cupboard items.

Delicious deli-style food (as well as homemade lunches and take-away meals), top-quality Italian cooking staples and fab coffee from truly lovely people. Great for tasty Christmas presents, too!

Excellent products, atmosphere and customer service. We absolutely love going there for everything from proper good quality olive oil, to Christmas treats and gifts, to ingredients for whatever Italian meal we are cooking that week (they are great at offering cooking advice too!). As well as delicious products for taking home, we also love their coffee and food. Well worth putting on your radar.

So, last week, feeling a bit down I decided to treat myself to something for lunch from this deli which is just around the corner from work. It was so, so good that I went back the day after and bought a couple of things for home cooking The people who own the deli are lovely and happy to give advice but are not at all pushy. I can't have a takeaway yummy too often for the sake of the waistline but this shop will definitely be my go-to for home cooking Italian ingredients.

We got the meal in for 2. It was really lovely quality, easy to prepare at home (though I am handy in a kitchen I didn’t need to be!) wild boar ravioli, served with tomato and basil sauce, rocket and Parmesan. Tiramisu and a lovely white wine! (The olives were forgotten but I never went back or called so no hard feelings)! Previously had the arancini, incredible also!! I will be back ! Lovely helpful passionate owners!

Super friendly couple selling beautiful food... today it was a soft Goats cheese, some fantastically spicy Salami called Ventricina and not for the 1st time, the Prosciutto baked ham .... so good...he mentioned his own marinated aubergine ..... they give little tasting bites and then you are hooked Next time We are going to try their ready to go meals with wine ...take out only at the moment Tonight we are eating in Italy .... thankyou.

Preordered a valentines meal. Fantastic food. All so fresh. Cooked and just needed heating as per their instructions. We chose to try both options for each course and eat like a tapas meal and it was amazing! Wine was beautiful too. Cannot fault the food or the lovely service from a lovely couple and a small local business. Will definitely be back there. Feels so good to support them.

Brilliant coffee, pastries and thank you for introducing me to the cannolis! Currently running as take-away only - loved my morning visits here.

Roma Cafe made platters of take away food for my birthday party and we couldn't have been happier! The quality of the food is excellent. Real, authentic, Italian food. Big portions and good prices. Thank you so much Roma cafe!

Very friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble.purchased most of the ingredients for my new pizza oven. The only downside was my indecision about how much to buy. They helped with that as well. Very social conscious as well. Thanks

Great family run business, cafe has a menu of pasta, salads and panini’s. platers of meats and cheeses. Great coffee and cannoli’s also.
