One of the best restaurants in Sheffield by a huge amount and easily the best Japanese restaurant in the area and further. Always exciting things on the menu and there’s always fish/ingredients you don’t see much in the UK

Absolutely superb. Some of the best sushi I've eaten. It is a bit expensive but you can absolutely tell with the quality. I'd recommend the typhoon rolls, tempura, and try something from the rotating specials board. They have a few select Japanese drinks, and a code you can scan to order from the bar next door if you want a cocktail. The atmosphere is lovely, proper sushi bar vibes, especially sitting at the counter. I've been a few times, and each time the waiter has been knowledgeable about dietary restrictions and been able to make suggestions.

What a treat! Fab authentic Japanese cuisine, Japanese drinks are also on the kenu.

The staff and the chef care about dietary restrictions. Even though the items are not listed as gluten free. They can adjust the ingredients and cooking method to suit the requirements. Food is also amazing. Not to mention a clean and chill atmosphere. Definitely will be coming back

Incredible food with the highest quality ingredients. I'd come back for the teriyaki salmon alone, you get a mountain of brilliant quality fish. A cut above the rest for sure.

Hidden gem. The sushi here is amazing. You can tell all their ingredients were fresh and sushi created with care. We're not local unfortunately but if we were, this would be our go to japanese place!

Four of us had an outstanding meal at Roku on Saturday night - we shared some small plates and the best miso soup I've tasted, then for mains I had salmon teriyaki rice which was delicious, and one of us had the omakase. Everything was explained so carefully. Lovely calm atmosphere with gentle music so we could talk!

Probably the best place in Sheffield for Japanese food! We come here quite often because of how consistent the food quality is - the sushi and sashimi are always fresh, while the prices are on the higher side, they are well worth it. They also have a nice specials board that changes often - so you get to try some new things off the menu every now and then. Service is also excellent given how accommodating they've been with the birthday celebrations we've had here for relatively large groups. Roku is definitely a must try in Sheffield :)

Sorry but it's completely overrated. I got take away and it didn't taste particularly fresh, the avocado was so mushy and the salmon was mediocre. Everyone giving this place great reviews has either had better food served because they dined in (I find that hard to believe) or just hasn't had decent, fresh, good quality sushi (more believable). I'm yet to find any decent sushi in Sheffield. Sad.

Can’t get any better without flying to Japan

Exquisite. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We savored every mouthful. It evoked fond memories of the time we spent in Kyoto. There's a very tranquil atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff are friendly and provide an excellent service. We're already looking forward to visiting again. We had the Sashimi unfortunately it was cut way too thick for our liking approximately 7mm-8mm is way too thick!

We were most impressed with the quality of the sushi. The tuna and salmon were top notch and was on par with some of the sushi we had in Japan. The service was very friendly and the food came quickly without any fuss. There is a specials board which changes regularly and there are interesting dishes which i have never seen at a Japanese restaurant before. This is orobably the best Japanese food in Sheffield. We will definitely return!

We absolutely adore visiting Roku. The food is exceptional, beautifully presented and unbelievably delicious. Chef Tomo is incredibly talented and friendly. And Peter is one of the best servers we have ever come across, being so considerate, accommodating and friendly. Cannot recommend Roku enough.

Fantastic Japanese restaurant in Sheffield. Can’t believe I’ve not discovered this place earlier! Neat and simple decor indoors. We went for lunch during a weekend and it was not too crowded. We absolutely love the dishes we ordered, in particular the sashimi was of great standard. I would also recommend the softshell crab hand roll and the seared salmon Nigiri. Staff members were very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Yes, the price was set on a higher side, but the quality of food you get is definitely worth it. I’ve recently returned from Tokyo and this has definitely satisfied my cravings for Japanese food.

I’ve visited Roku three times in half a year. Each time couldn't be perfect anymore. The food is authentic and grilled eel rice is a must-have for sure! I would say Roku is the best Japanese restaurant in the UK for me so far 🤩

The food is just merely average with highly overpriced. Especially the sashimi is not fresh at all in the rainbow roll. Also, the flavour of the curry is not rich enough for £25, it’s like purely water mix curry brick. However, the katsu steak itself is quite good. The portion is very small, 2 hot food (rice or noodles)have to be ordered to get full for a man. The same quality with half of its price can be found in other Japanese restaurants in Sheffield for sure.

Consecutive Friday to visit this wonderful restaurant. Environment and service still top class. Sashimi still fresh and tasty as usual. Tried the hot dishes like fried prawn and grilled eel rice, good quality and delicious.

The shop is extremely clean. Food is not top class, but sushi is fresh and the quality is good enough to get 4 stars or higher. A bit disappointed there was no udon supply on the day I visited.

I really could come here most days ....the food , presentation and ambience are so perfectly wonderful! Salmon collar was amazing too....is not on list below. Lots more to try. Great food and service in an interesting area of Sheffield

This restaurant serves the best Japanese cuisine I have ever had in the UK. The ingredients are fresh and the variety is extensive. The service is excellent, and the staff explains each dish in detail as it is served, making me feel like I'm dining in Japan. This restaurant is highly recommended.

Our third or fourth visit each time introducing friends to Roku- each time they become fans. We especially love the tofu and aubergine dish - we’ll be back!

Best sushi in South Yorkshire by a country mile. Has taken a while to get in as I’d always left it too late to book but so worth the wait. Book a week in advance at least. Food was amazing, so full of flavour and texture. The specials boards was fantastic too. An overall great experience.
