Best sushi in South Yorkshire by a country mile. Has taken a while to get in as I’d always left it too late to book but so worth the wait. Book a week in advance at least. Food was amazing, so full of flavour and texture. The specials board was fantastic too. An overall great experience.

We booked the same day as we were going to a gig in Sheffield and I'm pleased we did. The meal was absolutely beautiful. The staff were lovely and the chef was very nice and very informative.

Came for a birthday meal, it was a special occasion for us and our first time. Was really glad to manage to try the otoro given it was the last portion and really grateful to have the unagi as a nigiri. Food was outstanding and really well done. Definitely felt like the price was reflected in the quality and the end product. Feedback would be more around service and customer experience. The table next to us were told they had 20 minutes left because the table was needed, essentially. We didn't think they were there much earlier than us so we weren't sure if there was a time limit for us too. We had just ordered another drink and one of our dishes hadn't been with us for long. When a server cleared a plate, we enquired if there was a time limit and, if so, how much time we had left. She checked, came back, and said we had 9 minutes. It was a bit shocking and I was then trying to rush my food and down our drink which isn't exactly pleasant. I think it would be better if you're informed of there being a time limit before you're seated and if the food didn't come so intermittently. We wanted to have a hot tea and some dessert but there wasn't time to do this. Overall, a wonderful new (to us) restaurant and would come again but think a little more thought needs to be given to customer experience from start to end and how things are communicated. I know the gentleman told he had 20 minutes was displeased to be given that warning and not told at the start so I don't imagine we're alone in this view. Would recommend the peach jelly shot saké, too!

Went to Roku for birthday dinner with my husband and we loved it! We ordered the chef’s special roll (meant to be a surprise as we did not know what roll we would get) and it did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend!

Tomo ( I hope i spelled it right) has made an amazing special sushi for us. His skills are amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. Peter has served us and even though there was a misunderstanding with the seating he was exceptional and looked after us.

The food was beautifully prepared, it was one of the best sashimi and fish I have ever tasted and this was coming from a person who love sushi and always eat sushi whenever I have the chance to. The service was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere made me feel like I am in Japan. The experience was indescribable from words. Overall, I would 100% come back to this restaurant when I go to Sheffield.

Food was great as well as the vibe - my partner and I got a special called hachami fois gras on top of other sushi items which was delicious. I normally hate liver but the fois gras was not too strong and had a lovely rich and creamy taste. Amazing all round.

Best sushi I've had in Sheffield! Very attentive service, friendly and relaxed. Came back tonight for a birthday meal. Again we felt so welcome. The food was delicious, from crispy tofu with well balanced sauces to intriguing specials changing according to the availability of high quality ingredients. We tried a tuna liver and mushroom dish tonight - the foie gras of the sea - which we enjoyed so much we ordered a second portion. And our desserts came with candles, and one of them was complimentary because of our birthday celebrations, which was a lovely surprise. Thank you!

What a wonderful meal! We booked last minute and got a couple of seats at the kitchen bar. I'm so glad we did because we got to chat with the lovely chef (I should have asked his name!). The cod roe tenaki were the stars of the show for us, so tasty! So fresh! And the rainbow rolls, absolutely delicious! I was so pleasantly surprised by dessert, you have to try this place. It's fabulous!!

Absolutely stunning quality of ingredients , so fresh and flavoursome, lots of advice and explanations from charming chef Tommo and his staff. Was able to sit at counter watching him prepping his dishes. Presentation first class. Really top notch tasty interesting food. First class fish and all ingredients! Really lovely, enjoyable evening. Can't wait to go again! Have just been again! On 19th June. Was as excellent and stunning as the two previous visits. I really could come here most days ....the food , presentation and ambience are so perfectly wonderful! Salmon collar was amazing too....is not on list below. Lots more to try. Thank you to Tomo, Shelley and all the staff at front of house and in the kitchen too!

We've been twice now and will be going many more times. The food is delicious, they have a great specials board that we've ordered from both times. The service is also great, friendly waiters and chefs. You can also order drinks from the bar next door which will be brought to your table. Brilliant all round.

Rainbow roll and miso soup both exceptional. We wish we could afford to eat here several times a week. Best food in the world!

Been here before and this place doesn't disappoint, Tomo is a master of his craft and the food is incredible value for money. Pete was really attentive and explained each dish and their ingredients in great detail and you can see why it's getting the reputation of quality that it has. Will definitely be coming back.

I come here with my dad all the time when he visits me in Sheffield and we absolutely love it. The staff are amazing, the food is top quality. Can't say a bad thing about Roku, it's just the best. We came after trying some food from here during the Kelham Island Food Tour. The service was fantastic and we really enjoyed our food, which was brought out quickly. The only slight complaint we had was the chicken kara-age was a bit greasy for us but other than this it was great. We'd return and would recommend.

The price is extortionate. I ordered takeaway expecting a higher quality and nice size roll for £12+. The special sushi rolls were stuffed into half of the tray (6x3cm) and not the size / quality I would expect for that price.

We visited Roku Japanese Restaurant in Sheffield to celebrate our anniversary and Valentine’s Day, and it was a fantastic experience. We had booked in advance, which was a good idea as the restaurant had a lovely, intimate atmosphere—perfect for a special occasion. My partner is a big sushi fan and tried a few different types, all of which he really enjoyed. I don’t eat fish, but despite the menu being on the smaller side, there were plenty of great vegetarian and chicken options for me to choose from. Every dish we had was delicious, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The restaurant had a great vibe—warm, relaxed, and inviting, making it a wonderful setting for a celebration. Overall, we had a lovely evening and would definitely return. A great spot for sushi lovers and non-sushi eaters alike!

My wife and I love coming here and always make this the place to go for a date night. The service is polite and friendly creating a super welcoming atmosphere and it always feels very peaceful inside the restaurant. Food wise, I’ve never found a fault. Always fresh and delicious. I had the ebi mayo prawns today and It’s one of, if not the best things I’ve ever eaten. Can’t recommend enough, if you love sushi/Japanese cuisine and are in or around Sheffield this is the only place to go.

Best Japanese restaurant I've found in the area. The dishes proposed are absolutely delicious and original. All products used are super high quality and perfectly cooked. The wagyu carpaccio is an absolute must. The atmosphere is quiet.

A quiet restaurant with a Japanese ambiance, offering food that is the closest to authentic Japanese cuisine I’ve had in the UK. The chef skillfully mixes onions and sauce with the bluefin tuna sashimi, creating a perfectly balanced flavor. The prices are also very reasonable. If I visit Sheffield again, I will definitely return to this restaurant and highly recommend it to friends who appreciate authentic Japanese cuisine.

Food is excellent as always in a real Japan standard, enjoying sitting at the bar seat, watching the food make such like a performance. Compliment to the front staff Peter as well, organizing and helpful, keep everything smooth and nice, from the reception to serving food, everything great. Very good experience, expensive to spend and it's worth.

Had some unique dishes that I have not seen at other sushi restaurants in Sheffield such as rainbow roll. Very fresh ingredients and chefs prepare food in front of you when sat at the bar area. Portion sizes are also generous.

WOW...never been for sushi before, the staff here were very patient and informative, they guided us as to what we would and wouldn't like,we had an absolutely brilliant evening, nothing was too much trouble.....they take your coat as you go in and hang it up for you which we thought was a nice little touch.....Will definitely be going back. A good friend and I first visited here a couple of years ago. We were lucky to sit overlooking the kitchen - the best seats in the house, IMO. There was a great atmosphere and fantastic service. The food was fabulous, and we're looking forward to going back. I've eaten here multiple times since, and it's been fantastic every time.

Tomo and the team have outdone themselves once again. Consistently fresh and delicious food now complemented by carefully picked sake. Special mention to the specials of the day where unique and specially sourced seafood make their appearances! Something that you would only find in a few places in the UK! Even my Japanese father in law who is visiting from Japan approves and came here 3 times during his stay!

I've dined here a couple of times now and revisited last week for the first time in a while. I enjoyed a fantastic selection of dishes and the service was first-class as I'd remembered. The rainbow sushi rolls and Salmon Sashimi were particular favourites and the Coffee Jelly was a refreshing way to finish the meal. Excellent, highly recommended.

Went for fish stuff because my 8 year old loves the stuff and wanted to try fish sushi. I'm not keen at all on fish so I don't know anything about it so had loads of questions about everything and needed help working out what would be good for her. Great help, friendly and personal service, my daughter loved the fish stuff, was practically begging to go back the next day for the crab again... For me, the pork gyoza were spot on, packed full and perfect balance of flavours, the chicken and udon noodles were tasty too.

The restaurant offers an impressive array of Japanese dishes and variety of specials to order from. All the dishes were delicious and arrived immaculately presented with freshest of ingredients. The restaurant itself was cozy kitsch offering relaxing atmosphere. The Irish server was knowledgeable and helpful with finding alternatives for fussy kid. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing, service and atmosphere was brilliant. As a large family coming with young children they made everyone feel welcome and it was a beautiful meal. The Angus beef katsu curry was my favourite 10/10. Thank you so much we will definitely be back !
