We stayed at The Belfry as a last minute break. Our second night we had dinner at Roccas it was awful!!!!! Overcooked pasta which was just a plate of mush, and the worst kids pizza I’ve ever seen. Dry no topping. Ryder Grill is far better, amazing food friendly staff.

Nice place but terrible food. Initially welcomed by Zak, he was super friendly and helpful. (Then went on a break) We ordered kids pizza with garlic bread and pizza for ourselves. The kids meals were very small, greasy garlic bread and basic pizzas. My pizza was like cardboard, minimal toppings, very dry and tasteless. I'd say it's hard to get pizzas wrong but these were rubbish. My friend asked to have the barbeque sauce replaced with a tomato sauce, but the chef still smothered the top of the pizza with the sticky jam like barbeque sauce, she sent it back and went without. The other waitresses were unhappy, looked bored (behind the bar on her phone), no communication. I asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill, the waitress didn't say anything - at all. There was one other table in the restaurant at the time. We have been coming to The Belfry for many years, using it as a mid way Manchester - London easy place to meet. Like many people I'm sure! The food always lets it down, lets hope that the pizzas improve and people keep up the Belfry tradition.

Had an afternoon tea as part of our spa day and was booked into here for a set time. Pre-booking was required and the restaurant was notified in advance of a diner with allergies. Got there and sat down. Drinks orders taken and then - nothing . We waited and waited for our tea and coffee and, after 20 mins, asked again. Nice pot of tea but the coffee was absolutely rank. Worst coffee I have ever tasted. Got a tea instead. Food comes and the sandwiches are not as pre-ordered . Advised our waitress who said I would have to have what was there as it was an additional £10 if I wanted extra!! I explained it had been pre-booked and the lady on the door also confirmed there was an allergy diner. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back with 3 small triangles in place of my savoury offering. She said this is all they had. I again explained I’d pre-booked and wanted what I’d paid for and asked to speak to the manager. At this the manager brought my pre-ordered sandwiches over .our original waitress’s first language wasn’t English and this was evident in her mid-handling of the situation. The manager was very helpful and apologetic, offering good customer service. The scones on the afternoon tea were lovely but the rest of the cakes were a small sliver and pretty pathetic. It’s a shame, I get our afternoon tea was part of a deal, if it’s down right we would co sister returning and paying full price as the rest of the day was spot on.

We were apprehensive about the place based on the previous reviews. But we had a very nice time. The food was exactly as described by the people we asked. The portions were decent. It’s not Michelin star food, but the kids loved their pizzas as part of the meal and our Salmon and Meatballs meals were food. The greeter was good and our waitress (Lisa) was especially superb; she was busy but still managed to help us with all of our requirements - she really was great. The atmosphere was on par with a family themed environment - it plush but good.

Bland, overpriced, atmosphere free. As per some earlier comments, a glorified cafe. Our children left their pasta dishes (bolognese and creamy chicken pasta) as they were so bland. Tiny portions for a £7 children’s main also. Starter: Calamari - £9. 6 pieces straight from an Iceland freezer bag, and a pot of mayonnaise. Mains: Wife and I both went for the Dolcelatte salads. To say they were a disappointment is an understatement. Apparently Dolcelatte, pear, and pecans; what we got was a small bowl of bagged salad, predominately Radicchio, (so, very bitter) and was undressed to further intensify the bland nature of the food… and we were literally picking around to find anything apart from the bitter leaves. £10 for that, or an extra £5 for half a chicken breast on top. On the plus side, the staff were excellent.

Pizza cutter ropey and not up to it, knives failed despite helpful staff... SAM particularly tried to help AND look into the £40 deposit. Failed and I donated £7.50 to the hotel profit fund!!! The bruschetta was amazing, the tomatoes were so juicy and tasty, possibly the best starter I have had. The main meal let it down a lot. I had the prawn linguine which was very tasteless and bland. The restaurant itself is more of a café looking restaurant and located next to the spa in the hotel. There is an option to sit outside also. The staff member was polite and asked us about our stay which was a nice touch.

Visited Roccas as a guest of the hotel. The food and service here was fabulous, even if the menu itself was a little sparse. Food and drink prices were certainly above average for the type of establishment, though with the included meal voucher this wasn't any of our concern.Early bookings are recommended.

Came here for dinner one night as we were staying at the hotel. I really enjoyed the food although service was shocking. Another customer came in when we had just finished our mains, who was being very much attented to by the waitress. He was served, eaten his meal and paid his bill before our plates were even cleared. We never received spoons to go with our desserts and my partner had to get up and get us some. The restaurant wasn’t even busy and the waitresses were standing around talking. The food is good but due to the poor customer service I would avoid this restaurant.

Came with a small group of friends. Was stood at entrance for 5 minutes with no acknowledgement. We eventually went into the restaurant and had to ask a waiter if we could be seated. We were sat in the lower part of the restaurant. We felt like we were just forgotten about. We had to keep asking for drinks and had to ask to order starters & mains.

Worst bit was very long wait to be seated, queue of people at the door when place is half empty and after we were seated long queue kept forming, only point there was a line of about 5 couples looking very peeved. Servers seemed to be stood at the till a lot, sometimes all of them gathered round one looking confused, maybe they're all new or system isn't good? Servers were friendly and food came quick and hot, but no check to see food was OK, and no apology for wait at door. Our starters (risotto and garlic bread) were really delicious, particularly risotto I loved it. My main, the antipasto was enormous and really delicious, very pleased with it. However husband's meal (lemon chicken) wasn't a great flavour and had dry chicken. It was smaller than his starter he finished it in no time. Seems a shame when rest of food was great! Could be very good there, menu needs ironing out and more serving staff. Also alcohol was overpriced but didn't think food was.

Awful service just awful, wasn’t even busy 4 staff on serving. When ordering drinks to go with afternoon tea told can only order one at a time so couldn’t have Apple juice and coffee had to drink one at a time, very strange and when asked why, told because she was the only one making drinks. Then took so long to get drinks it was ridiculous. The food was okay nothing amazing, not asked at all if everything was okay, had to call over the waitress to order a second drink. Second time I’ve been here in 10 days really won’t come again. Much better afternoon teas and service in other hotel/spas.

We were staying at the Belfry for a spa weekend and chose here to eat. The food to be honest was at best average, certainly nothing special and definitely overpriced, it didn't really taste homemade at all as we chose the pasta. The staff left us standing at the the door for several minutes while they all stood around talking eventhough they saw us, we nearly gave up waiting, they were not overly friendly during the meal either unfortunately.

My son took me here recently for a belated Mother's Day meal. The layout and decor are attractive but that's about it. The food is SO expensive. £14 for a pizza. Really?? I had the spicy one which had a only a few pieces of pepperoni on and 4 jalapeños. Tasted ok but in no way worth £12.95. The drinks are exorbitant. £9.85 for a large glass of the cheapest wine and £5.20 for a small bottle Stella. If I'd gone for a glass of Chardonnay it would have been £12.70!!!! We went non alcoholic as a result but they were a rip off too.

Food was average to say the least. We were the only people in there on a Saturday evening at 7.30pm and now we know why! The bill came which showed two glasses of Pino at £12.25 each when I checked the menu they are charging a large glass of wine at £12.00 for a large glass not only is that bad enough but they decided to charge me an additional 25p per glass. I did mention this to the waitress I said the prices are extortionate you've over charged me! It was a toss up between Pizza Express and this place. We'll never go back again and the fact it was so empty other people know this too. This place has potential to be a nice family night out! Pizza Express next please.

We ate at this restaurant as a family whilst staying at The Belfry Hotel. The restaurant is soulless, cold and lacking any kind of atmosphere. The food was overpriced and distinctly mediocre. £18 for a glass of valpolicella. We loved the hotel but hated the restaurant. The following nights we walked to the nearby Cock Inn which was superior in every way, delicious food, excellent ambiance, and you can buy a bottle of wine for less than a glass in Rocca's.

Went here tonight and it was very busy. Taken to a table and given 2 menus. We waited 20 minutes before the waiter would even take our drink order - he was more interested in cleaning tables than seeing to customers. Then we were told we could only buy slices. We’d seen the slices - which were being breathed over by customers coming through the entrance. No thanks.
