Great authentic Thai menu and charming service

First time we have ordered a takeaway from Rice & really enjoyed the food.

Authentic Thai food. Obviously, 1st tasted in Thailand, then a preferred Thai restaurant in Estepona, Spain, now in Bedford Rice Thai keep up the good work.

We visited Thai rice for the first time yesterday evening. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was lively and the food was absolutely delicious. Some incredible flavours that were perfectly balanced. We tried a bottle of wine (that every other table around us had too, see photo) I was impressed to discover that the wine was supplied by the wine merchant a couple of doors up, and were informed the beer also came from Beerfly. It was nice to know that just by eating here we were helping so many other small businesses. Following a starter and a main that were just incredible my husband asked for the sticky rice and mango dessert. Although I was very full again the flavours and temperature of the dish was just so delicious I couldn’t help but tuck in too. This restaurant is a must try if you have never been!

Aunque no lo tuvimos, hacen una oferta especial de banquetes de 3 platos los jueves (y otras ofertas como la cena ‘madrugadora’). La comida era de primera clase en todos los aspectos, sabrosa y servida caliente, realmente no podríamos haber pedido más. Tenía el curry verde con pollo, fabuloso. Se aconseja reservar una mesa. Muy recomendable, es un lugar que volveríamos a visitar con mucho gusto.

I had dinner here with a group of friends one Thursday evening. The service was exceptional with all members of staff going out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Although we did not have it, they do a special 3 course Banquet deal on Thursdays (and other offers such ‘early bird’ dining). The food was first class in all respects, tasty and served hot, we really could not have asked for more. I had the green curry with chicken, just fabulous. Booking a table is advised. Very highly recommended, it is a place that we would happily visit again.

A small and cosy Thai restaurant in a central location with nearby parking. Very welcoming and friendly staff. The menu caters to all sorts of different tastes with a wide variety of meats, vegetarian and gluten free options. The tamarind duck with coconut rice and pad Thai in particular were excellent 10/10 dishes. This was my first time at this restaurant and I’ll certainly be going back, the food was amazing and everyone in my party agreed! Due to the small size of the restaurant I’d recommend booking in advance, and checking out their menu online.

Hermosa comida. No puedo fallarlo, los entrantes y el amín estaban deliciosos, tenía cebo blanco para empezar y lubina para la principal. Estaban deliciosos, definitivamente comí demasiado. Grandes porciones y buena relación calidad-precio. El personal es increíble, tan amable y encantador. Son atentos pero no intrusivos.

Qué puedo decir... Déjame empezar con el entrante pedí rollos de Veg Spring (son los congelados que eran basura) y pasteles de pescado tailandeses apesta 🤮 Solo logré comer uno no tenían sabor y tan gomoso... mi esposo pidió los langostinos tempura dijo que estaban bien Principal Pedí curry tailandés rojo (siempre pido esto) GRAN ERROR... sabía a un tazón de crema y el omg de verduras no creo que ni siquiera trataron de cocinarlos llevaron a aldente a otro nivel... basura... que mal que no comí mucho y tenía menú establecido pero decidí que no me iba a molestar con el postre y al final todavía costaba £ 50! INSATISFECHO y DECEPCIONADO sería una eufemismo ¡Evita evitar evitar! Sea una advertencia ⚠️

What can I say…. Let me start with the starter I ordered Veg Spring rolls ( they are the frozen ones which were rubbish) and Thai Fish cakes yuck 🤮 I only managed to eat one they had no taste and so rubbery…my hubby ordered the tempura prawns he said they were ok Main I ordered Red Thai curry ( I always order this) BIG MISTAKE… tasted like a bowl of cream and the veg omg I don’t think they even tried to cook them they took aldente to another level… rubbish rubbish … that bad I didn’t eat much and I had set menu but decided I wasn’t going to bother with the dessert and at the end it still cost £50!! DISSATISFIED and DISAPPOINTED would be an understatement Avoid avoid avoid!! Let this be a warning ⚠️

Once again, premium thanks to Rice Thai for a wonderful evening and dinner. This time, I enjoyed the Jungle Curry, (with Garlic Rice & Prik Nam Pla) preceded by a spicy squid starter and followed by a rather tasty sticky toffee pudding. The food was totally delicious, and as always, the service was professional, friendly, customer-focussed but not intrusive. Thank you Hannah, in particular, for doing such a great job looking after us.

Wonderful! Good, flavourful food, great service by lovely staff. Sensibly priced menu, gluten free no problem. Wide variety of dishes and drinks. What else could you want?

Haven't been to Rice since before the pandemic. Food and service great - would definitely go again. One small thing is that the venue is very small, and feel there are too many tables crammed into such a small room. However, I noticed that they are moving a few doors down soon, which will be a welcome improvement!

The Best Thai food outside Bangkok - in fact better than most of the Thai food IN Bangkok. Marvellous service, great atmosphere, professional, friendly, customer-focussed staff and then there’s the delectable food! A Bangkok Bad Boy last night - sent the taste buds into orbit! Visiting Bedford for the first time, so I picked the restaurant based on online reviews and they were absolutely right. What a lovely place, fabulous food and a lovely lady called Hannah, who looked after us. Really good food and we picked from the set menu which came with a free drink.....and it was a proper gin and tonic. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Rice Thai.

I went with my Friend who was visiting from London. To start with they got our searing preference wrong despite booming 2 weeks in advance. I had fish cakes as a starter which is the worst I've had to date. It was very rubbery. My friend did not like her Chicken satay starter it was very bland. Then I had the Green curry which looked new baby poo poo. It had nice coconut and very cream. I've been to numerous Thai restaurants over the years this by far the worst. My friend was able to ask for a discount which was granted. We were very disappointed. I would never venture there again. They really need to sake the chef! And invest in a proper Thai Chef.

Came here for a meal on our 15th wedding anniversary. Very good food and lovely staff.

Hadn't had Thai for ages, so decided to give the highly thought of Rice Thai a visit. Cosy yet vibrant, the food was fantastic, as was the attentive service.

What a great restaurant. Food fab, great service. It small like a jem. A must to try.

A surprise 1 night layover in Bedford, courtesy of Aventi trains, turned into a bigger surprise when we found this place a short walk from the hotel. With barely 30 covers, the cutest little family run Thai house, serving exceptional dishes to an enthusiastic audience, even on a Sunday. And they seem to keep Deliceroo pretty busy too. Check out the Bangkok Bad Boy, and the Duck Salad!

Amazing food and always so friendly especially, the waitress who speaks Thai is always a welcome face letting us practice with her! Recommend the prawns on toast.

I hosted a team event for 10 at Rice Thai and we were looked after really well by Nurul and the team. We had a very generous selection of starter platters including satays, spring rolls, prawn toast etc. This was followed by some delicious curries (green, massaging etc.), crispy spicy pork belly, pad Thai, rice's and various drinks, singha beers, wines etc. My team really enjoyed the environment and friendly service. A very nice evening!

First time in my entire life a delivery guy is SO RUDE. He did not want to deliver to the door, which is the minimum I would expect. Never went through this again. That's sad because the food is nice but the experience with the delivery guy was TERRIBLE.

I loved the food so much here! It was extremely delicious! The service was impeccable and the decorations were so beautiful! The only thing I’d say is when we went it was quite quiet in the restaurant so I would have put the music a little louder so that customers can have conversations comfortably without worrying if they can be heard. As we were leaving, the restaurant was full of people by around 6pm on a Sunday, it was fully booked! So I recommend if you’re going around that time that you book.

This was great. Although they have to cramp more tables into the available space then that's an insignificant nitpick compared to the quality of the food they cook. I've travelled around Asia and it's sometimes difficult to accept that Thai restaurants have to adapt to local tastes, but asking for a dish "Thai style, and I mean genuine Thai style" will pay dividends. I was there last week with my friend Chris who also cooks Thai food and it's just wonderful to find a place that knows how to deliver the genuine article. I do sense a certain reluctance to up the heat unless you insist but overall this place served the best Thai food on my recent trip to England. Chris will be going back there to sample Hanha's (that's how her name is pronounced but unsure about the spelling) chilli sauce. Other people will be fine with their standard offerings but I beg you, please, ask for the dish you fancy cooked in "Thai style".

Excellent food at a great price, really worth

A very nice place. Beautifully decorated and cosy. The food is of excellent quality and the people are accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend it and I will definitely go again and suggest Rice Thai.

Excellent in every respect! Fragrant Tom Yum soup (chicken), followed by a Bangkok Bad Boy - finely chopped vegetables, lots of holy basil, garlic and succulent fowl; obviously with a high crushed chilli presence! Topped off with Singha beer and a mango & papaya dessert! Staff exceptional, great evening - thank you!

Dear RICE THAI Why, oh why, do you charge over £30 more for the exact same meal on Just Eat ? We ordered the set meal A, which was £59.90 on your Just Eat page. We then wanted to remind ourselves of the order and so went onto your website where the exact same set meal A was a whopping £30 cheaper at £28.95!!! Please explain the reason for this . We could have ordered 2 set meals for the price we paid. The total bill (with delivery and service charge) was £62.89. How is that justifiable when clearly you do not charge that in your restaurant? The food was delicious however, so thank you for that at least.

Love this place, best Thai in Bedford

I'm not actually a massive Thai food fan but I love coming here. They just seem to do plenty of dishes that I really enjoy, especially the pad Thai! Great service too.

Completely mediocre. The food is ok but under flavoured in most dishes. Was impossible to get a top up on drinks as no one came over to ask how our meal was the whole time. Big gap between starter and main even though they were fairly quiet. And finally play some more atmospheric music - I don’t need to hear 90’s greatest hits in a Thai restaurant!

Outstanding Thai food, service and atmosphere. Very authentic. Highly recommended. Only consideration is that it’s a relatively small space and tables are quite close to each other, but this adds to the atmosphere.

The food wasn’t great this time the spring rolls were stale and the spicy squid wasn’t great I ordered red Thai curry it did not look or taste like what Thai red curry tastes like I don’t remember this place being this bad but will not be ordering from here again unfortunately.

My friends and I really enjoyed dinner at Rice Thai Restaurant Bedford. All the staff are very friendly and very understanding with food allergies. The food is very delicious and makes me and my friends want to come back to eat here again. I really like Krappow Gai, the seasoning is very delicious.

Wow what a treat that was lovely food. High quality ingredients and didn't feel bloated after like with most other takeaways.

We had dinner at Rice Thai Restaurant yesterday. We really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The food is very delicious, excellent service, and good ambience.We will definitely come back to this restaurant. My favorite dishes Moo Gob Krappow and Chicken Penang curry.

I can understand why this place is highly rated. It because there are less than four authentic Thai restaurants in Bedford and therefore Bedford people have not experienced real good Thai food like I have. I travel the UK and abroad and always eat Thai food. However, the positives are the portions are a good size, they don't skimp on the meat or give you lots of onions and veg to cover the fact they are giving small portions of meat like most Bedford restaurants. But the food flavour is very mediocre. It's not bad but it's not very good either. Most of the starters were clearly premade and reheated but we're nice. I was hoping to be a regular if the food was good, but I won't be eating at this restaurant again. It's a bit over rated in my opinion. There are other better Thai restaurants in Bedford.

Fabulous food, atmosphere and service.

Our first visit, hopefully of many. The staff were brilliant and the food was even better. The best Thai food we've had. They even altered the spiciness of the curry for my wife, who doesn't like food too hot. It's certainly worth booking ahead, to avoid disappointment.

A very good restaurant, great menu selection, huge portions, and a most varied selection of what I would consider authentic Thai food. I would consider it expensive but I went for the early bird, well worth it.

Again first time dining here, have walked pasted several times and thought must try as it looks amazing, so its easy to get to as there is a car park less than 5 mins away and if after 6pm it's free, on this occasion I hadn't booked I just chanced going in and to be honest they couldn't of been more helpful, was shown to our table and was given ample time to think what we wanted, when the food arrived all I can is wow, bloody lovely the best Thai I've had by far, the prices are reasonable to, the only thing negative is the tables are a little close to each other, other than brilliant definitely worth going and certainly will be back.

The staff at Rice Thai were so welcoming, despite the fact that ours was a late booking (9.30pm). We went on a Thursday, the night they have their banquet menu, which has plenty of choice, including several veggie options and is very good value. The food was really very good. If anything, we ordered too much! Thank you Rice Thai, we'll be back!

The team are so friendly and sweet. The food is delicious- I would highly recommend the sharing platter to start as it has a little bit of everything. Definitely one to book in advance as it has limited seating, but for me that is one of it’s advantages!

I was extremely disappointed with the food delivery from Rice Thai Restaurant. This was my second order from the restaurant, and it was a far cry from the fantastic experience I had the first time. Out of the three dishes I ordered, only one was even halfway acceptable. The Thai Spiced Fish Cakes were like rubber and not enjoyable at all. In fact, after eating one, I had to bin the rest. The Chicken Tom Yum Fried Noodles were even worse - they were all stuck together and glutinous, and the presentation was simply awful. The only redeeming dish was the Chicken Pad Nam Man Hoy, which was reasonable, but not great either. I simply cannot understand how this place could send out food of such poor quality. It feels like a slap in the face, especially since I raved about this place after my first order. Overall, I was thoroughly disappointed and won't be ordering from Rice Thai Restaurant again.

I recently ordered Thai fish cakes and chicken drunken noodles from Rice Thai Restaurant and I must say, the food was outstanding. The flavours were simply amazing and complex, and the spice level of the chicken drunken noodles was just right for me. The food arrived at my doorstep lovely and hot, which is always a plus when it comes to food delivery. Overall, I would highly recommend Rice Thai Restaurant for anyone who wants to experience authentic and delicious Thai cuisine

Had the 2 course Sunday menu very good quality and value for money

We went for Sunday lunch, they have a special 2 course menu to include your 1st drink for £19.95, which is excellent value. We chose spring rolls and tempura. King prawns aa a starter each, which we shared, both very nice. To follow, we had pork and cashew nut stir fry with egg fried rice, and chicken pad Thai, both decent portions, hot and tasty. The waitress was very helpful. She turned down the very loud music when we asked, as we could not hear ourselves speak. The restaurant was cold as no heating on, but once we started to eat, we soon warmed up. We managed to park almost outside the door, nice clean toilet, we will definitely return.
