I could rave about the wonderful, engaging and generous staff. I could rave about the mind/s behind the continually uplifting culinary invention. I could rave about the winding embracing wine list. I could rave about the holistic magnificence that is 22. I could I could I could. I refrain from the rave. Take two people off the weekend wander and welcome. I won’t go into detail. Just the duck. The rebounding touch of the knife, the colour, the texture, the skin my god the skin, the thin humble fat layer lighting horizon wide the palate, while Bach notes of bright pepper sparkle in upright dancing pear salad and languid dots of sorcery. Not just the duck. I should also say the raspberry of the pre-desert and the blackberry of the desert exemplify real untainted fruit talent, if you can taste, if you know the ingredient, if you have the 22 artistry to pivot perfection then … A star richly deserved and I venture a second soon; it’s that good. Bravo.

Delicious tasting menu from start to finish. Highlights for me included the Stilton and walnut canape and the raviolo with parmesan and Wiltshire truffle mousse and the sea bass, beetroot and horseradish. But hardly a foot was put wrong all evening - although maybe some of the plates could have been warmer? In addition to the food, the 'discovery' matched wines were unusually good, 5/6 being both interesting and very enjoyable. Excellent service, too: pleasant, informal, helpful, there when you needed it. Highly recommended.

For a one star restaurant charging 145 pounds per person for dinner, I think one can get better food in London for the same price. The food was well cooked but was nothing really creative or memorable. The best dish was the bread. Food was served at a good pace and service was fine.

We hired the private dinning room and everything about it was brilliant. Our table has a number of dietary requirements which were catered for and the very knowledgeable staff explained how the dishes varied the what different ingredients were used

Recently visited restaurant 22 for the 4th time, and enjoyed it as much as the first. The food here is utterly devine, with superb wine pairings (and the soft drink pairing is a lovely touch too for a non-drinker). Despite having been a few times now, the meal never feels same-y as the dishes are updated seasonally. The staff and service are brilliant. The team here are very friendly and so attentive - they carefully talk you through the dishes and will have a nice chat too. This is a M starred restaurant but it doesn't feel pretencious as everyone who works there is so personable. I didn't write a review at the time, but back in 2021 we had to cancel our table relatively last minute as our little boy caught COVID meaning the grandparents couldn't babysit for us. Alex was so understanding over email and re-organised our booking for a few weeks later. When we did finally arrive there was a birthday card waiting for my husband and he was treated to a birthday dessert later on. Lovely personal touch. It is expensive, especially if you get the wine pairing too, but it is 100% worth it for the experience you receive there. I cannot recommend Restaurant 22 highly enough.

What a fantastic meal on Saturday evening to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary with the family. The food, presentation, attention to detail were all truly wonderful. The service teams description of each dish was first class along with amazing service. Cambridge should be proud to have this restaurant in the city and it is great value for money with the taster menu and very reasonably priced wine list. Well done to all at 22, who should all be very proud, a stunning experience. We will be back!

This place is a culinary portal, a journey into another dimension from which you may never recover. I found myself swinging between existential euphoria and cognitive dissonance, at times wondering if I might get arrested as I shifted from the art admirer in awe, then vandalising the exhibit in front of me in the name of culinary hedonism. A few times I genuinely felt tears arise, held my face in my hands, astounded at what had been created, the tastes, textures, the whole experience a glimpse into undreamed possibilities… Every dish, drink pairings, the service, absolutely perfect. The soft flights were a revelation! I left utterly broken hearted that it was over. I may spend the rest of my days scrolling through photos longing for the lover that wrote her name in my heart and tongue. Only visit if you’re willing to shift from beige to a multi-coloured multi-dimensional experience of food, perhaps of life… Indeed only visit if you’re willing to fall in love ❤️

Wonderful restaurant with exceptional service and food.

Stellar tasting menu. Well- balanced with some lovely dishes, clearly a Michelin star experience worth traveling for. Loved the bread course as well as the lamb and duck mains. Extensive, well-priced wine list as well. Energetic and attentive service and loved the house setting- intimate!

Overall a very good experience and enjoyable tasting menu. Excellent bread (more like a french pastry) and maple butter. Fish dishes slightly ahead of the meat, but both top quality. Service and atmosphere good, no complaints but slight room for improvement in these areas. Matching wines all very good.

Went for the lunch. In general the service was not up to the standard of a star. In particular the wine service was worse than most non-Michelin restaurants. When we ordered glasses of wine, they were simply “plonked” on the table as the waiter was passing by without stopping. No bottle shown, no information given on the wine. They also didn’t have any dedicated sommelier on the floor during our lunch and we were served drinks by around 2-3 different people. They also kept asking us what we wanted for our next drink before we had even halfway finished our first, which gave a very rushed and unpleasant overall experience.

A tiny place with amazing food. This is a must if your a foodie, only one star. But food is brilliant, service is fantastic, I think if you moved the house to a better location it could probably achieve 3 stars. Great place

A very special restaurant! The food is original, the staff are very knowledgeable and the wine pairings complement the food perfectly. We had lunch here, receiving the full tasting menu, and the experience was much more than just sitting down to eat - it is a whole sensory affair! They also were happy to accommodate any dietary requirements. This is cambridge at its best!

The only place to go in Cambridge for an intimate atmosphere, the most attentive staff and mind blowing food. We’ve been to Restaurant 22 quite a few times now and they just keep getting better! The food is seasonal and so inventive. I would try anything they put in front of me! We had both wine pairings last time to try both and it added a whole new level to the experience. It’s a super special place without being pretentious or excluding - I couldn’t speak more highly of the whole team, we always leave happy, full and want my to return as soon as possible. A really special experience!

We've visited Restaurant 22 twice (for birthday and anniversary celebrations), and have had a wonderful experience on both occasions. The team of staff were warm, informative, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt extra special on our visits. The full tasting menu and wine pairing were exceptional and well matched. There were multiple dietary requirements within our group (vegetarian, pescetarian, nut allergy) which were all accommodated seamlessly. Every course was a highlight, so it was difficult to decide which one we loved best! We will definitely be coming back next time we are in Cambridge and there is a special occasion to celebrate.

The whole experience was amazing - the food and wine pairing were a delight - truly!! The staff were brilliant and knew so much about the wines and food and the service at the table and attention to detail were incredible. The whole team were friendly and personable and made the experience - getting the balance spot on between attentive without being intrusive. They went out of their way to spoil me - taking some pictures, indulging my excitedness and also gifting some very tasty birthday cake and a lovely hand written card! 5 stars all round.

TWENTY TWO is a restaurant that does not deserve the Michelin star. Pretentious and dishonest. Lack of creativity and inability to meet the needs of clients with some culinary limitations despite having specified them prior to booking. Very unprofessional staff and an unhygienic bathroom. In short, I am surprised that with a newly inaugurated star, they take such poor care of their clients. I predict a very short future for you in Michelin stardom and I recommend that you all spend your money somewhere else.

TWENTY TWO is a restaurant that does not deserve its Michelin star. Pretentious and dishonest. Very unprofessional staff and unhygienic bathroom. In short, I am surprised that with a newly awarded star, they treat their customers so poorly. I predict a very short-lived Michelin stardom for them and recommend everyone spend their money elsewhere.

Restaurant 22 is young, fresh, daring and in some occasions bold. Not only in its flavors but also wine selection. Just go and see for yourself.

Absolutely wonderful food staff were fantastic would return without a doubt

First class food and service. It is one of the best restaurants around. The guinea Fowl course was to die for! I could eulogise all day about the quality of the food, wine and service. Eaten at many, many good restaurants and this is up there with my favourites

Considering visiting Midsummer? Don't. Come here instead. The food is exceptional and unlike Midsummer, you won't need to take out a mortgage to dine here. The service is warm, friendly and informative, the ideal blend of professionalism and fun - some fine dining experiences can feel too 'stiff' but Twenty Two have achieved the perfect balance.

What an impressive experience! I was blown away by the food served at every stage. The staff were so very friendly and shared interesting information about each dish. The wine pairing was incredible and again very informative about each wine. I was very happy to pay £470 for a meal for 2 here as it was an incredible experience. Thanks to the chef who came out to see us off.

Magnificent experience, we cannot thank the incredible team at Restaurant 22 enough for an unforgettable evening. The customer service and attention to detail is of the highest standards, our food was a beautiful infusion of seasonal produce and clever innovation. We also choose the wine pairing to accompany the tasting menu which we would highly recommend. Every aspect of the experience has been thought about in great detail and makes for a very special memory. A truly wonderful restaurant!

So happy to have found this Michelin 1 star place while traveling to Cambridge during Spring Break. The food, the wine, the service, the atmosphere were all superb. They even gifted us some brioche bread to bring home. It's the little gesture that counts. Very satisfied with the experience and would love to be back in the future!

We had the tasting menu and it was incredible. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food which was outstanding. The presentation of the food was very carefully done and looked as good as it tasted. The staff were so friendly, welcoming, informative and attentive from the moment we entered until we left. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was cosy with several tables in a smallish area which essentially is too living rooms joined together. The tables are spaced far enough apart that you don’t feel like anyone is intruding and they aren’t trying to cram you in. The whole experience gets a 10/10 from me and my wife and we will be going back again in the future.

Beautifully presented and very tasty food with soft drink pairing. One of the team worked out it was for a birthday celebration and surprised us with a little birthday treat which was a lovely touch.

I had a full course dinner menu at the Cambridge Michelin restaurant, which was quite impressive. I did not expect to be stuffed at a Michelin restaurant given my large appetite… We started off the taste journey with a bite size warm cheese tart, topped with shredded Parmesan. Among the three snacks, my favorite was the rabbit course, which was exquisitely prepared with complex flavors. Featuring a thin, crispy coating with the wild taste of rabbit meat preserved just right. The pre-meal bread was a pleasant surprise and one of the reasons my friend revisited. I'm not usually interested in flaky bread, but the bread itself was moist but not greasy, and I was surprised by its warm feel, easily crumbled crust, and perfectly structured air pockets. Among the three kinds of butter, my favorite was the fermented yeast, which had an unexpected taste of miso. Followed by a custard mushroom soup, the custard was different from the Asian style, resembling cream added, with a garnish of black truffle aroma, overall not bad. The three main courses were pork belly, codfish, and beef. The pork belly was fatty but balanced well with an aggressive sauce similar to "scallion oil"; the final steak was thoughtful, with butter used in a layered potato, the beef tongue and steak were slow-fried, and the bone marrow was stewed into a sauce. However, the codfish was a bit disappointing, although the fish was tender from low-temperature slow cooking, the sauce lacked surprise. The transition before the dessert was clever, with a grapefruit sorbet parfait and lemon jelly making a refreshing, grease-cutting ice cream sandwich. However, the actual dessert was somewhat too heavy, with the caramel almost reaching the viscosity of toffee, overpowering the bitterness of the chocolate itself, which, as a chocolate lover, I only managed to finish with difficulty. Overall, it was delicious, but I feel this menu was not well-balanced between dishes, starting from the very first appetizer, giving a strong sensory impact and easily becoming too rich.

The meal was wonderful. The chef and the team was brilliant.Not only the food was delicous, their services was excellent. I liked the starter to the desserts. They used the local sourced ingredients from for the dishes, they made the tasty beet which from Herefordshire. It was terrificly good, it is worth the money.

If you want to experience the warmest welcome, delicious wines and food that simply defies all superlatives then this is the place to be. The fabulous team work together to create the best atmosphere for you to create amazing memories of dining perfection.

Everything was very nice, from the food (we have regular and no fish tasting menus) to the atmosphere and service. Myself was very full midway through the menu :) Loved the parmesan starters and the amazing soup.

Excellent!! Wonderful service and exquisite menu. Often tasting menus have a strong start, but can’t keep up the level for all dishes. Not at Twenty-Two, every dish is delicious, from start to finish. Moreover, the staff is very attentive, and gifting a box with their delicate homemade bread upon departing is a good example of a little touch that can truly elevate the customer experience. Absolutely delicious and great service. Bread and butter? It wasn't just bread and butter, delightfully fluffy, layered croissant style buns with whipped, quenelles of butters mixed with delightful flavours. The rest of the food was perfection, everything went together like a jigsaw on the plate, every flavour purposeful and edible. I could go on but the bottom line is, you have to go and try this place if you haven't yet. If you don't like food, don't go. If you do, better get a booking now.

What can I say that's not already been said? Use any superlative you can think of and then some. Tucked away in a rather "blink and you'll miss it" victorian townhouse is this superb restaurant. Lorry driver & cleaner made to feel like millionaire lottery winners. Been lucky enough to have dined at a couple of Michelin star restaurants but always felt the urge to "let's have a burger" afterwards. Not here though, oh, no. Left fully appetite satisfied. Best Sauvingnon blanc we've had and by restaurant prices, a good price. (Had two, and we're from Yorkshire!) It was wife's birthday and also our wedding anniversary and she was skeptical about paying so much for a meal. Changed her mind afterwards. Money we'll spent.

This place is amazing! This was a birthday treat from my son and his wife, who have also visited this restaurant and they knew we'd like it. From first stepping through the door to leaving, the experience was perfection. We had been booked in for the lunchtime taster menu, quite a few courses and we were told of what we were eating for each course. We went for the flight of wine which starts at the main course and you get a different type of wine to go with course you were eating. The knowledge of the staff regarding the food and wine was brilliant, We loved it, we were made to feel special that afternoon. When we left we were given a little going away package all neatly wrapped and told to warm in the oven. We did this the next day and it was a kind of malty bread, delicious. This definitely is a treat of a restaurant and would definitely recommend

My partner and I had a wonderful meal here. We got stuck in standstill traffic and ended up being 40mins late (!!!) but they still accommodated us and kept the table which was really very kind of them. Service was really lovely and I can't fault them in anyway. Highly recommend restaurant 22 - we'll be back ☺️

This is a very special place. We have eaten here 3 times over a few years and it just continues to improve. The food is absolutely incredible- such thought and attention to detail and flavours. The staff are also excellent. Friendly and welcoming without an ounce of pretentiousness. I’ve never been to a place the serves food this good in such a nice atmosphere (including some 3* places) The team work so hard and I wish Alex & Sam every success for the future.

Absolutely 5 star, I would give 6 stars if I could based purely on the service alone. Booked in for my Girlfriend's birthday and from the minute we walked up the steps to the front door to the moment we left we were treated like royalty. Little touches like a card on the table for her and a birthday dessert were unexpected and wholeheartedly touching. That's before I even get on to the food! Every plate was precisely explained, dietary requirements catered for and most importantly: tasted absolutely divine. We had the joy of sampling the 7 course tasting menu and there are elements of it that I still crave again a week later! We didn't go for the accompanying wine flites, however hearing the sommelier take other tables through the selection kind of made us wish we had. Maybe next time! Thank you to Sam and all the staff back and front for making our evening so special.

Lovely place food was breath taking

I've been here twice now and have had a wonderful experience both times. They are very happy to accommodate my pescatarian diet, and I love that they offer a non alcoholic paired drinks menu when we were there once for a lunch booking when we had to pick up our kid from school immediately after. They have also been incredibly lovely recently at accommodating a late change with our booking which I appreciate greatly. Their Michelin star is very well deserved, and I'm glad I can have the smug satisfaction of knowing they were amazing even before that award had been bestowed.

The entire staff at Twenty Two works extremely well to contribute to a perfectly wonderful experience. The service is polite and attentive, accompanying the guest throughout the meal without getting overbearing. I had a lovely time chatting with everyone, and found all of the staff extremely precise on the description of the dishes. Overall they truly contributed to the welcoming atmosphere that made my visit feel so special. The full tasting menu holds up beautifully from start to finish. My favorites included a rabbit dish with a ginger pairing, unexpected but sensational, and the pigeon main which featured a blackberry ketchup I'll be dreaming about for the foreseeable future. It's worth mentioning the dinner ends on a high note with a dessert that didn't live in the shadow of a perfectly crafted savory selection (I'll admit I get really excited about desserts!!) Truly worth a try (and a second one, and a third one, and I guess I'll just have to be back to Cambridge every once in a while just to see what Twenty Two is up to)

Five stars not enough. This is the best fine-dining restaurant in Cambridge ... without any intimidating service or crazily priced winelist ... fascinating, inventive and delicious food, lovely friendly staff. Ok ... just been back again ... I didnt think it was possible to top the review above ... but we just visited again ... now they have their Michelin 🌟... very well deserved ... it hasnt gone to their heads.... the price is unchanged ... and the food is even better, so inventive, and Thursday lunch is an amazing bargain!

Has become a regular of ours for special occasions. The food today though was especially delicious. Every course on the lunch short tasting menu was splendid. If I had to choose a favourite it would be the monkfish, followed by the lamb, foie gras and bread course. But every course was amazing. A beautiful little jewel of a restaurant. Enjoyed a fab evening out with my foodie buddy, and we enjoyed the short tasting menu with matching flight of fine wines. Everything was so well considered, the portion sizes make for a lovely meal where you get to taste so many delightful things, feel well fed but not overstuffed by the end. The wines were beautifully matched with the food, nothing out of balance and the staff were delightful, welcoming and knowledgeable about both the food and drinks served. The petit four were so delicious and a perfect way to round off the meal. Yes, it's a fancy treat experience, but it's worth every penny.

So incredibly delicious and great value for what is a really special place. I took my husband for his 40th birthday and the team at Restaurant Twenty Two made a lovely effort to make it special for him. Food was fab, neither of us were drinking so we did the soft drinks flight which was a really great option which we enjoyed so much. Will definitely be going back!

Solid 5-star. Totally enjoyed the lunch menu and looking forward to bringing my family and friends here! This is going to be no. 1 place for treating important guests (Might sneak back on my own for some a weekday treat too <3) Literally everything is fantastic. Thoughtful but not ostentatious creations with local produces. Parmesan snack with roasted pumpkin seeds. Warm, gooey, cheesy. A beautiful starting point. The green asparagus custard with ham and aerated white asparagus foam really encapsulates the spring. Herbal and full of umami, it has a light texture like Asian steamed egg. Bread arrives as a laminated brioche, which looks like a denser croissant. A little guilty, but delicious. Beautifully layered and buttery. The butter is milky, but the chicken liver pate is the absolute queen on the bread. Smooth, creamy, flavorful but not too heavy even on top of that flaky bun. Cured and seared cod, covered lemon dill and in mustard hollandaise. I was worried it could be too overpowering, but it is alright. Still extra for me and reminds me of my college kitchen. Crispy kale is lovely and the radish is refreshing. The cod itself is plump and tender. 8/10 Prime cut of beef in slow cooked in water bath. The beautiful pink piece is deliciously seasoned and tender. The bottom piece tastes like red braised and contains a melting chunk of tendon. Morel mushrooms are pickled and slightly sour, zingy. The Great Abington asparagus is gigantic in size but delicate in taste. Red wine and garlic sauce has capers, ham, and mustard in it and offers complex flavors. Also enjoyed the celeriac purée which goes well with the steak. The plating is so elegant and not pretentious at all. 10/10 Absolutely love the dessert. The best finishing course among my recent years’ dining experiences (excluding my tiramisu hunts)! Again a fine balance between taste and creativity. Frangipane sponge, crumbly and light. Chocolate mousse. Naturally sweet Banana jam. Hazelnut mousse. A small scoop of salted milk ice cream, delightfully savory and cooling. Shortbread and mushroom crumbs. Banana stick. Not trying to be extravagant but everything combines harmoniously to present extraordinary finale. ❤️ And thankfully it’s not too sweet at all— surprisingly, the dark chocolate dome and the ripe banana core may be the sweetest part. Heard it’s new to the menu. Please keep it 🥹 100/10 The little space is cozy and has the charm of sitting in a loving family home. The second floor is intimate with lovely drawings. Service is super warm, attentive but not intrusive. And the courses come one after another in an efficient pace. Eat slower and enjoy ;) Congratulations to the chef and team on the well-deserved Michelin star.

My partner brought me here for a special lunch. The full tasting menu and wine pairing was absolutely divine. The perfect amount of food; we didn’t leave too full or hungry. We each had different dish favourites though they were all divine in different ways! The cocktails we had whilst eating the initial snacks (Negroni and espresso martini) were incredible. Fantastic service too.

We went for an anniversary meal and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff could not have been more kind and helpful, and the food was amazing- we had a vegetarian tasting menu. There were about 12 courses, and we had a very enjoyable evening- not...
