Venison dinner was superb, and I was there for seafood! Delightful service, view and special bottle of red but all was eclipsed by the perfectly cooked and served loin cuts. We split a portion of yummy, crisp onion rings to start and each had an overflowing side of green vegetables with our main. We decided to sit and watch the show on the field leading down to the magic view of forest, sea and islands surrounding the marina nearby. 'Show' you say? Yep. White-tailed hare cavorted, couple of random goats and an Angus or 3 munch contentedly in the foreground. Trio of ice creams at magnificent sundown brought our appetite to a pleasant end. Perfect!

We booked (24hrs in advance) for an afternoon tea for two, and we were not disappointed. They'd reserved a lovely spot for us looking out to sea across the Isles, and all colleagues were very attentive right from the get-go. The decor and ambience of the room were very nice, it's a bright and airy setting with a stunning view. The afternoon tea was plentiful, there was no need for the side order of chips we placed, although they were very, very nice. The sandwich selection, the many cakes, and the four scones were very well presented and delicious. They were more than enough. The service was excellent too, nothing was too much trouble for the colleagues and they did everything they could to make it a memorable occasion. Thank you very much.

We had a nice sandwich lunch with coffee and cake in the café adjacent to the hotel. Friendly staff, good food and great sea view. The menu is good, however expensive for a sandwich lunch, I suspect that you are paying for the location and the sea view. There is a spacious outdoor patio area if you wish to eat outside.

If you have left less than 5 stars for this place, don't come back, or you will literally be thrown out!!! Came here a year ago, service was terrible, food was not great, items missing etc. Wrote an honest review on trip advisor. Fast faward a year to July 2024. Thought, will give it another go as they may have been having an "off" day. Called to make our booked and all was good. Arrived there, receptionist told us to go through, waitress showed us to our table and gave us menus..... Now here is were it gets bad! Bear in ming this is mid season, and busy resteraunt! Another waiterss came over, snatched the menu's off the table and said, "Your not welcome here so leave" I asked what she ment. She said "you left negative feedback on trip advisor, your not welcome here so get out!" Asked to speak to the owner. Reception (the one who told us to go through by the way), snapped at me saying owners not here, we got your feedback, and your email regarding the day you were here. I asked why me email had not been replied to. She just looked at me smuggly, smirked and shrugged her shoulders. And told me to get out. They knew who I was when I booked, they knew who I was when I was told to go through to the resteraunt. They purposely waited till I had arrived and was seated in a full restaurant, and used raised voices in order to turn other heads to their attention. In order to try to publicly humiliate me. They could have easily told me this over the phone when I booked, but they didn't. They chose to make a scene. I'm uttered disgusted that the staff at this hotel are continually allowed to treat the public, the people whom are the reason they get a pay check, with such despicable and rude manners! PLEASE READ ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE BEFORE COMING. Believe me, there are many!.

Well.. Again for the 2nd time an unbelievable bad experience at this hotel/ restaurant, we first went for a meal last year which turned out to be a very poor meal with terrible service and the staff being rude complete with dirty clothes on. Upon leaving them a review and an offer to talk to us about it we had no reply at all. So a year passed and we thought we would give them another chance hoping that this would be a one off experience so I booked up to go for a meal. Upon arrival we were welcomed and sent through to the restaurant and was seated at the table, then another member of staff came over to tell us that we were not welcome here and were asked to leave, because we gave them an honest review over a year ago, we were quite shocked at this as had travelled ouf to this venue for lunch buc guess they had waited until we arrived to tell us this rather than saying at the time of booking which was done 2 weeks prior, I guess from this that they have not upped their game at all since our last meeting and instead of proving that the first meal we had there was just an off day have shown that this is the norm from them. So if you like poor service from rude staff when they can be bothered to come to your table in dirty well stained clothes that look like they have been used as a cum cloth in the hotel, only expect half of your order to arrive at your table and that half being of a poor standard, that is if you don't get told you are not welcome there as they cannot be bothered to serve you incase they get a bad review then this is the place for you, otherwise avoid it like the plague, as that's probably what you will end up getting if you don't die of food poisoning or starvation first. PLEASE GO ANYWHERE APART FROM HERE, anywhere

Had dinner on a glorious evening which saw “ the view to die for” from the restaurant, bar and terrace at its absolute finest. Food was excellent including complimentary amuse bouche and sorbet. My mushroom rarebit starter was a very good dish. Service was excellent and prompt, despite a couple of coach parties in. Liked the decor and would gladly return, possibly to stay.

The hotel sits in a fantastic spot half way between Kilmelford and Craobh Haven with a fantastic vantage point with a view down the west coast slate islands and beyond. The grounds are expansive with well surfaced paths and dogs are welcome. Our food was okay. Just not great value. The chips were not hand cut as advertised, there was only a choice of five sandwiches, one soup, teas and coffee and cakes etc. Fine for a pit stop, but more of a range would be good. The sandwiches were fine. Thin bread, not particularly well filled, sparse salad without any discernable dressing, signs promised table service, but we were then told to go to the bar. Not a deal breaker but the transactions were charmless. They do have a kind of captive market here, there isn't much else on offer in the locale. The hotel is pleasantly decorated with lots of local art, some of which was for sale, the grounds are immaculate and the smell of the fire is heaven. I just feel they could do better. The limited choice, dour service, and slim portions felt more like a contractual obligation than welcoming service. You expect better for a tenner a sandwich. I might suggest the service would be better if the tip was not by default.. we always tip well for good service. All the ingredients are there, but it just felt a bit miserly and charmless. Easily sorted guys. Nicer thicker bread, a little bit more generous with the fillings.

Went for Sunday lunch not realising they don't do it. The lunch menu was pretty basic although the dinner menu was very large and clearly that's the focus on residents. What we did eat was good. Tidy attentive service and beautiful surroundings with a view to die for. The bruschetta had no tomatoes weirdly but mushy peas and cheese with no flavour but other dishes were great. The highlight was the raspberry meringue dessert. We spent £75 on 1xx glass of sauvignon, 1 x coke, 2 x starters (veggie) and 1 x main (veggie) and 2 x desserts plus 1 x coffee. So roughly £40 pp . The bar & lounge is very relaxed and chilled. Just wish the brains of the hotel would add a couple of other main courses like a chicken dish and a steak (then they could roast some tatties and make yorky puds and call it Sunday lunch!) Visit here with my clients but guess it's the Kilchrenan Inn for Sunday's

There’s no doubt that the kitchen team know what they are doing and do it well. Wide choice on the menu, great produce, well presented on the plate. Everything you’d expect from a fine dining experience (describing it as this based on the prices in the wine list!) Attentive table service that could be bettered by more knowledge about the menu. The attention to service has certainly improved since the last time I was here a few years back; however, the food's not great and is overpriced in some cases (and I'n being generous here and allowing for lockdown). The price of the venison - a culled or farmed animal and not difficult to get (certainly not up here) - is ludicrous; the cod and chips was almost devoid of cod - a thin layer disguised by bloated batter; the prawn fritters were stodgy (not my definition of fritter, not even loosely); the absence of produce from the local loch was also mystifying, more so when I had been eating Melfort mussels in Edinburgh a few days earlier. I've been here several times over the last few years but I suspect this was the last.

Stopped here for lunch on a beautiful sunny day, sat outside on the decking and the view was amazing. Varied menu we had burgers which were very tasty, staff friendly. Could have sat there all day looking at the view

Stunning view but very overpriced, meals were average. Seemed like an extremely expensive cafe. The waitress even had the audacity to say their food is the best.

Stopped to visit Arduaine gardens. Which were beautiful and called in for tea and scones at the Loch Melfort Hotel. Very disappointing the room was cold the waitress uninterested and the scones were stodgy and heavy! Great location and could be brilliant with a bit more enthusiasm from the staff and a better baker

I've had one prior trip to the hotels cafe for lunch las year and it was ok so thought as it was a sunny day it would be nice to go for a Mother's Day lunch, bad move ! Firstly the guy taking my order couldn't speak English properly and I was asking what vegetables do I get with the fish and he kept saying broccoli as that is all he knew. I asked to talk to the chef as I was getting no where with my questions. He went in to talk to the chef, came out and said 'curry'...ha, that's not a vegetable !! After him going in and out 3 more times I could make out cauliflower so settled on that. Meal was average but the starter of coconut mussels was a complete disaster ! The most tiniest dried up salty mussels in no coconut sauce, just shrivelled up tiny orange things in the shells, never seen anything like it. They tasted disgusting and I sent them back. The head lady then came out to question my decision and said they tasted fine. 11 hrs later at night my stomach was not well, and that was from trying 3 mussels, my partner had one and didn't feel well either. Upon leaving I past a family that also had several plates on their table which they didn't eat and agreed at how disgusting and dissappinting the meal was, no coconut as advertised once again.

The food at Loch Melfort Hotel restaurant is prepared with locally sourced fresh produce and is beautifully presented on the plate. The taste is equally sublime and I loved the freshly baked bread.

Beautiful food, served by friendly people, in a restaurant with an amazing view. Restaurant was very busy for end of October, booking would be advisable, we think.

Central to the town and provide you with a friendly welcome, we had lunch and it was fantastic. Lovely food and reasonably priced, couldn't really have asked for more. Also, dog friendly.

On a solo sailing trip to Tarbert I was fortunate to get a call back confirming that a table had now become available. I don't normally do fine dining without the wife. My starter of Scallops in garlic butter with Samphire was excellent, no, they were better than excellent, followed by delicious Cod Fillet in sauce. The team were welcoming and the whole dining experience was first class. Meeting a friendly and knowledgeable couple from New Zealand made the "Dinner for One" a more relaxed and enjoyable evening. Go there, eat good food, get great service, and meet nice people.

Very long wait. Not great value and not great food. Had been before for lunch a year ago and loved it. This experience was not the same.
