Good atmosphere if there is a lot of customers we chat amongst ourselves

Been many times while in the area, proper Italian style pizza. Nice.

Food was good, and it was cooked while you wait, so very fresh and hot. Very extensive menu.

Small portions especially for the price and got our order wrong, 2 X haggis supper and fish and chips... We got 2 fish and chips and one white pudding and chips

I had a nice pizza, freshly cooked. The base had a slight crispness to it which I found unusual but was nice. There was plenty of topping and cheese. The service wasn’t very personal and I was left standing for a while before being acknowledged despite there being three staff members in view. Prices are reasonable. Street parking (free) outside the takeaway. I noticed that delivery is also available but also witnessed them taking the phone out of the socket as the phone wouldn’t stop ringing.

Food is cooked to order. Rather expensive compared to Hawick for fish and chips. I was told 10 minutes to cook took longer. The fish was over cooked and very greasy the batter very chewy. Chips were OK but for £9 quite a small portion. The staff apart from the guy who took my order looked miserable not one smiled or even engaged with customers. Personally I would not recommend or use again.

Called in on Tuesday night as Chinese and other kebab shop closed on a Tuesday. Ordered a fish supper made fresh to order might I add, well the chips weren’t fresh and the dish was the smallest greasiest pice of fish I have ever had in my life. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS…..

The Rendezvous Deluxe is one of the best pizza I had in Scotland. Highly recommended!

We just had the chips they were dry and didn't taste right We ended up binning them A waste of £8 for 2 portions Wouldn't go again or recommend the place

Had haddock and chips last night couldn't eat the haddock dry and to crispy over done they said it's the best chippy in Scotland more likely the worst.

I really don't understand the negative reviews. I've eaten from Rendezvous for over a year and visit quite often. It's a family run establishment and the quality of food and customer service is nothing short of spectacular. Everything I've ever tried from the menu is delicious. The best chips I've ever eaten. But the absolute pinnacle of this place, is their pizza menu. The menu is so extensive. But even if you want something different, they will literally create anything you want. Prices are great and I can honestly say I have never tasted better pizza in my 45 years on this planet, and I have moved around a lot. Keep up the amazing work

Poor chippy only had sausages left could no be bothered to cook anything else even thou there was 5 of us,chips were under cooked and hard.

Had a sausage supper basically raw chips were cold n undercooked Overpriced also

We were in the area on Friday t-time. I checked Google for the best rated chip shop and thought we would give this a whirl. The food was made to order which is good however the fish was very greasy as was the king rib. If I was back in the area I would probably try somewhere else.

Pizza is top notch , great chippy pizza , lovely dough , nice sauce , generous toppings .

Was down from West Barns today with my Dad. I had Fish Supper and he had single Fish. Thankfully we had to wait for fresh fish and it was very tasty. Chips were lovely.

Ordered a 14inch pepperoni pizza and it was fantastic. Asked for it slightly over done and received exactly that. The chef seem passionate about his food and was eager to please throughout. Will be back for sure. Thank you

This place is good. Reasonably priced.Everything cooked fresh which makes a huge difference to the end product. Worth the couple minutes this adds to you getting ur scran 👍

Went in with a friend. Man who works there was rude and disrespectful. Was treating us like children and talking down. Wasn’t a great experience

Very disrespectful man behind counter. We're there for 5 minutes but was spoken to rudely within that 5 minutes.

Visited on the 11th August 2022, and was served by an older lady who was both the fryer and the server. A hard working lady as all food is cooked to order. An extremely large male who I assumed to be the owner or at least the manager in between mopping his brow with a tea towel attached to his apron spoke to the hard working lady in a demeaning manner which she did not deserve. I received my food shortly after and left utterly disgusted with his bullying and intimidating behaviour. The older lady didn't react or protest leaving me feeling that the owner/manager's behaviour is common. I wanted to confront this ignorant owner/manager, however, I could not know how this would rebound on the lady once I left. I would never return on principle.

9.5 out of 10 for the Special Fish Supper.👍

Food below average, the big guy that works in the shop was very very arrogant, not just to us, but to everybody who came in the shop. On the plus side, the range wasnt full of ready made stuff like most chip shops, everything was made to order and we seen this with everybodys order

Staff are extremely arrogant and rude, witnessed them shouting at several customers for no reason, they need to learn how to treat customers! Food was awful also, can assure I will be spending my money elsewhere in kelso in future.

I ordered three fish including one as a supper and a pizza. All delicious and as freshly made to order they were perfect. Fish were pretty huge too.

Excellent. Not sure why this place has got such bad reviews. Staff were very pleasant and the meat feast pizza was the best I’ve ever tasted! Wanted to return but we were only in Kelso for a week and ate out at various other places too, so couldn’t.

This establishment heats up food and gives you it in exchange for money.

From the first bite to the last of that amazing sausage supper chips fresh and batter is amazing aswell we'll worth the wait for fresh chips and all

Not what it used to be..... I lived in Kelso years ago and always good great food and service from here. I popped back to visit family and tried it out - not at all what I remember. The order took AGES to cook, the young chef was decent and chatty but the older couple just argued, all the time, sometimes in English, sometimes in Italian. As entertaining as this was , it’s highly unprofessional and awkward. Thinking the fresh food would be worth the wait, it wasn’t. Soggy chips, tasteless fish and bland steak pie. A real shame.

Vile attitude vile food. Wouldn't send my worst enemy. Avoid this grim place. Much nicer place around the corner called town house chippy!

Extremely concerned about highgene none of them where wearing gloves. Plus one of them found it impossible to understand that I might only want 2 portions of chips not 4. Very unprofessional and would never come back. After all of that the food was mediorce.

On our first night on a weeks holiday in Kelso to save cooking we nipped into Kelso to buy fish and chips and take them back to our rented cottage. Service was good except their credit card machine was down, luckily hard cash. Positive thing the food was still hot fish nice but the batter was a bit soggy. Pies were great again chip a bit soft and not crispy. So mixed feelings about the meal. Main thing we were not hungry after the meal as portions were good.

3 of us ordered the calazone pizza 2 were chicken and it was the worst 1 i have ever eaten. it was full of fat and grisle not nice at all wouldn't go back

Was not the best, weird orange batter and whilst the staff were friendly enough and polite I was concerned about their personal hygiene. Would not go back.

Asked for a large haggis and was first told they didn't have any so asked for a normal haggis and was again told there was none and that I would have to wait to have it fried. So turned out they did have a large haggis, they just didn't want to fry it. Was told that I should choose something from the cabinet that was already fried instead. Never known a chip shop to refuse to cook something requested from the menu. On that note I'll probably not go back.

I’ve just ate the worst kebab in my life! I was hanging and thought a juicy kebab would sort me out. However, I feel worse!!!!! The most disgusting foul kebab I’ve ever had, I would not recommend this kebab shop even to my worst enemy. Rude staff and the donner meat was microwaved. Yack??? I know. This shop should be closed down and the owners should be embarrassed.

Bought 2 calzone pizzas . Burnt, no tomato sause inside or out...one bite of cardboard and was gagging. I opened it up to see what was wrong omg....I really have no description of what it looked like inside. Never ever again !

Stopped here on our way back from Truckfest Edinburgh.We have always found the pizza very good from here when we used to marshal the BMF Show here.We always order the large special pizza as you get everything on it including haggis.They were very busy and told us there was a 20 minute wait.We told them we would go for a walk and left them my phone number so they could phone me when it was ready.The place was very clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly and helpful,the pizza was very nice and well worth the wait.We sat on the river bank to eat it.If you want a great pizza I would recommend going here.

Half past 11 on the busiest night of the year on Kelso civic week. No doner available despite being clearly advertised outside, chips extremely soggy and tasted like pish. Lucky to be getting one star. Staff were SO rude and snappy. Gave them 9 suppers worth of an order but all I got back was rudeness. Then got home to find not everything was in the bag - phoned to tell them and got a mouthful when I asked if I* could get the money back for items missed but paid for. Felt like we were an inconvenience to them having popped in for our dinner. If I had realized before that there was another chippy in Kelso I would have told them where to stick it. Worst customer service EVER!!!

My wife and I fancied a fish tea last Friday and I took a drive to the Rendezvous in Kelso and ordered our meal, it was freshly cooked and after a short wait my order was passed to me and I took it home and we sat in front of the TV and had a great meal.The food was excellent and the staff are really friendly and chatty.A great place for a takeaway meal, we will go again.

Went in for a bag of chips - they took £3.50. My son went in next day and the menu shows V2.50 for a large bag of chips - the largest available - as confirmed by the server (different person) Not nice.

walked from cornhill to kelso so arrived in kelso really really hungry, standard of food from here very greasy and poor quality meant we stayed hungry.

The three stars were a kindness. There was a row going on behind the counter. It was as if I had a intruded. Miserable woman serving and the kebab meat had the flavour and texture of leather. Curry sauce looked like nappy contents. Everyone else in the shop was embarrassed but it was the only place I could find open. Most of the food was thrown away. Bad experience.

This long established take away serves excellent fresh fish and chips as well as proper pizzas and other take away food. You phone your order for collection or to be delivered or just call in. We always go there when we visit Kelso.

Unfortunately we arrived into Kelso late and the choice was limited so we tried here, the place does everything from fish & chips, pizzas and kebabs which creates an unusual smell when you walk in. We opted for a pizza and fish and chips, both were terrible, greasy and tasteless. We won't be going back here.

Told not enough chips for a large portion asked to look how big a small potion is and told "enough for a small portion"! Very secretive!! #awkward

Having read the previous review we made sure that we didn't offer any offence in shopping at this take away. They serve burgers, fish and chips, pizza and so on so it is not really a specialist establishment. The burger and fish and chips that we had were perfectly fine but by no means the best we've had.It did seem and inconvenience to the people serving that we wanted to order food and wait for it to be served. A shame really as there is some potential here.

I have never come across a place that deals with the public that has staff with such a terrible attitude towards the customers, how this place is still in business is beyond me. My wife and I, as well as a friend went in there to order some food. My wife asked for the food to be open but was served the food all wrapped up. My wife explained she asked for open and the staff member got all agitated so my wife tried to explain how she wanted it but the big bloke serving slammed the food down on the counter and shouted and swore at my wife. Naturally we all reacted to this and told the big bloke there was no need for the swearing. At this the little woman behind the counter started screaming and swearing at us as well and kept shouting to get out of their shop and shouted at us that "you English come up here, get drunk and abuse us so get out of my shop". Well, yes we had had a few beers put we were no way drunk and I am not English, i'm Welsh. A group of Scottish lads were just behind us in the queue who told the staff that they should not be talking to us like that and they stormed out in protest at how the staff were acting. So do yourselves a favour and find another takeaway where the staff are friendly.

Lunch time, felt slightly peckish but didnt fancy a full meal so bag of chips to eat whilst strolling seemed just what was needed. Shop very clean & stall courteous. Extensive & reasonably priced menu. Carry out portion of chips with salt n vinegar were quickly served, well cooked and very tasty. Will certainly return during my frequent trips to the town.

Good quality, not long to wait, fresh. Good portion size. Definitely recommended.
