Best fish and chip shop in the area. Spotlessly clean and a great range of food items including pizzas and kebabs. Food freshly cooked to order. Staff always friendly.

...there's so often a bloody great queue to get served. Because the fish n chips are first class. often a bit of wait, which is a good sign in a chippy in my opinion, but well worth it. yum yum.

My Wife and I had a takeaway from Alfonsos during a recent trip to the Borders and it was the best fish and chips we've had in a long time. I'm glad we bought a bottle of their sauce as we used it through the rest of our road-trip. Delicious!! Highly Recommended!!

Alfonso’s is in the square, with a huge choice of food to takeaway available, a clean well run takeaway, that do everything from fish & chips to pizza, kebabs, burgers and good size portions too. Excellent service and I would recommend it

Due to lockdown we decide to have pizza delivered to our address for three local households. All of them were different all of them well received and feed back was first rate.Nice helpful girl took the order, were delivered within 15 mins of requested time (was warned they may be a little late).Excellent pizzas really good base and toppings Excellent service. Highly recommended.Thank you.

Terrible. Only ordered chips as the other food looked like it had been sat for a long time, eat 6 chips and the rest went in bin! This use to be a great chippy queued out the door, sad to see the quality isn’t there and the prices are through the roof! £8 for a fish super, really, much better take away options for that kind of money.Haven’t been in a few years and won’t be back.Shame, use to be a great family run place.

Forget all the rest of the menu get into the fish & chips they are first class. We have a round trip of about 20 miles and it is not only worth it we do it at least once a month and enjoy every bite

Well how the hell does a fish supper cost £ 8 ?. Haddock is in abundance at this time of year also prices of potatoes are at there lowest of 2020. So why does the price add up to £ 8.

He gets snippy when you have the audacity to pick your own fish from what's on display. He became confrontational and actually asked me to explain to him (in front of the other customers in the shop) why I thought one fish looked better than the others."They were all born on the same day, and they were all cooked on the same day." he said.Well if I'm paying, I'm picking. It wasn't like I turned my nose-up on what was available – I didn't ask him to put another fish on for me – I simply wanted to pick the fish which I thought looked best.Spoiler alert: you're in the wrong line of work. I won't be back.

Reasonably priced, cater for all dietary requirements. Very good location and friendly staff, very clean too. Highly recommend

Proper Fish & Chips. Lots of choice, all very fresh. All nice clean and modern. No Cod, only Haddock..... Scottish thing?! Very clean shop ... did notice they don't use food handling tongs much....?!? One point off for that - 9/10

Firm Family favourite when visiting the Scottish Borders. Always freshly cooked with a great selection of food. Loved the fish and chips straight out the box spring rolls and spicy haggis were also winners, kids loved the huge pepperoni pizza washed down with red cola.

Being a Sassenache We checked out where the best chippy was according to the locals as we were unknown to the area.I can say that having had a Fish Supper ( Fish and Chips] to us southerners that Alfonso's is one of the best I have tasted and would happily go back for another if we return to Scottvland which we will no doubt do next year.

Great take away, usually get the fish, always fresh with the greatest crispy batter. Chips are also very good 😊

Try there chicken kebabs fantastic and all friendly staff best chippy around the borders also the haggis supper is superb nothing is to much trouble for them always quick to serve... been going here for a few years now ..keep up the good work

Between Edinburgh and Newcastle the choice of fast food is pretty limited along until you reach Earlston between Lauder and Jedburgh. It’s one of the cleanest takeaways ever!!

Well this is the best chippy by far , lovely big portions and the chip shop is very clean .freindly staff . And everything fresh .

We've been going here every week for the last few years and loved it.

When staying locally it's a must to have an Alfonsos and my local friends confirm it's one of the best in the Borders. Always immaculate freshly cooked and a wide takeaway menu choice with of course the quintessential fish supper (fish & chips to us south of the border)

Estaba por la zona , y por 15 libras, hemos comido muy bien. Lo tipico. Recomiendo, fish and chips y la butter sausage , que es una salchicha con un rebozado de mantequilla. Te lo llevas a la plaza que hay delante y listo.

Just once in a while you fall across a hidden gem in the most unexpected places! This family run establishment is one such place!

On holiday staying near Gordon, called to place order, very polite and helpful staff. I was told it would be ten minutes and arrived a few minutes early, very clean premises and our food was ready. Took back to holiday home and we all tucked in to some lovely food and great value too.

Been here many times, fresh cooked, efficient friendly staff, new revamp looks good. Standard consistently high and always busy which is a good sign!

Me tomó un viaje a tomar yo mismo algunos nugs y llevó lejos para largo! Me preguntaron si quería nugs, dije que sí, cuando llegué al mostrador me dijeron que ellos acabaron de nugs esta frustrante experiencia no es uno sin cuidado visitar de nuevo no se acerca a la tienda de nuevo uso chino al lado!

Quiero este fish and chips el viernes pasado y metí una 'cena de pescado y no me decepcionó tanto por el lado o probar que eran muy buenas. Tuve diez minutos de espera mientras estaba recién fritos sólo para mí, pero la espera valió la pena. A £6. 80 El precio era muy razonable, ya que el pescado era enorme - Ver la foto. Disfruté muchísimo de mi comida y recomendaría Alfonso a cualquiera que disfrute de buena calidad de pescado y patatas fritas y excelente servicio. Espero que volveré la próxima vez que esté en la zona.

Hemos tenido un poco de Alfonsos y todavia no se decepcionará. Probamos su pescado y patatas fritas que eran excelentes, pero también tenía sus kebabs y pizzas que eran igualmente buenas.

Han parado en todos los "fish and chips" en la A68 y es fácilmente el mejor.

Pedimos pescado y patatas fritas, pero sólo nos dieron un pescado, parece que si quieres pescado y patatas fritas tienes que pedir una cena de pescado doble? Confundieron el infierno fuera de mí, acabé cogiendo una porción de patatas fritas para los chinos que estaban parada.

Great chip shop with a wide variety of choice including kebabs etc. The fish is well cooked and doesn't lie under the heater for long due to how busy and popular the shop is. Delicious so don't pass it if you're in the area

Best chippy in the Borders by far. We have sampled every type of take away from Alfonso's over the years and cannot fault any. Excellent portion size. Always fresh and hot. Pizzas are fabulous.

Beware if you are a lone eater that just wants to eat there supper on the way home, if you want curry sauce it come by the bucket, if you were to tip all of it on, you would drown anything on the tray, and when asked if there were smaller portions, the staff went into standby mode, as they could not understand that perhaps people did not want to buy a gallon of curry, when all they needed was a ladle full, wasted food, wasted money.

Buen pescado y patatas, pescado fresco y muy sabrosas patatas fritas. Buena selección de bebidas frías, en latas o botellas. Este lugar tiene una amplia selección de comida en el menú. Puede que tenga que esperar un poco para su comida, pero por lo menos saber que está recién cocinado. El personal es muy amable.
