Good food, caters for meat eaters and vegetarians - relatively modestly priced and healthy food. One recommend to those people who classify themselves as unadventurous as the food is not too spicey.

I have only ever eaten Eritrean, Ethiopian food made by family. I was really looking forward to zigni and enjera and wasn't disappointed. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful and as good as " home made". In fact neither of us could finish our food as their was so much lol. My partner has never tried this type of food before but enjoys spicy Curry and Chinese so persuaded him to try this. He wasn't sure but tried it and loved it! We shall definitely be visiting here again and try some of the other dishes.

I’ve passed this place so many times and always wanted to go in. Never tried Eritrean food before. Daughter goes to school nearby so picked her up and went for tea. Yes it looks a bit basic but never judge anywhere like that. Always judge by how many people eat there. Very chilled. We weren’t disappointed. Delicious, spicy (and I don’t really do spicy but this was lovely) and I loved the injera (lemony😋). It was very filling and great value for money. Definitely going back. 👍

Our favourite food is Ethiopian we have missed it dearly since moving back to the UK. This place is the real deal. Food was amazing. Staff was friendly and it’s clearly a place of community. It takes a village and this place feels like home. It’s not fancy it’s authentic , warm and delicious. Go. Eat. Enjoy!

While staying in Liverpool city centre I was tired of the crowds and decided to venture further afield in search of more interesting veggie food. Located near the university, Red Sea was about a 40 minute walk out of town but well worth it. The menu is mainly Ethiopian and Eritrean dishes but with explanations in English of the ingredients. The staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome. I suspect this place is a well-kept secret among locals but deserves to be more widely known.

I was apprehensive when my friend invited me to Red Sea as I had never eaten African food before. But what can I say, it was amazing. Not just the food but the service and the atmosphere, the staff were so nice and made you feel welcome. I'm a vegetarian and there were lots of choices on the menu for me. And huge portions I will be having the rest for lunch tomorrow.

Love this place and so glad I found it. Amazing Ethiopian food. Better than most I have tried in London and their injera is the best I have ever tried. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I couldn't ask for more. Will be going regularly now :)

I had the veggie injera. It was really good. Spinach, lentils, a.potatoe andnonion amsnpepers stew, salad, all served on spongie injera bread that you use to tear and weap the food. I'm sure they would give you a knife and fork but I would have felt a bit of a fraud. It has more of a cafe feel sounding expect cloth napkins but nice people and good food instead. :)

Ethiopian food is a bit like "curry" as far as English people would judge. So if you like curry and fancy something a little similar, but definitely different, then you will love Ethiopian. Plus, it's cheap and easy!!!

Yea! Fresh and delicious Eritrean food right here in Liverpool. Lovely owners that go out of their way to welcome you. The food is fantastic especially the vegetarian options. I visit family in Liv a few tunes a year and we used to drive to Manchester when we wanted injera and wot but not any more. Thank you! Keep it up.

My second time to this restaurant because the food is so delicious. It is a rare gem in Lodge Lane serving speciality Eritrean food. My family and a cousin from America absolutely loved the food. My vegetarian/injeera dish was delicious and my family had meat based dishes with rice and salad. Wow, they were blown away! The staff are helpful, friendly and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Another trip is planned soon.

Second visit to Red Sea and still a huge fan. Didn't look at menu just asked staff what they though was good and was not disappointed. The Lamb was so tender and the portion size was just right. Made to feel so welcome and not rushed. Can't wait for my next visit which will be ordering my lunch for work.

The staff are very helpful friendly and ho !!heavens the food, I tried injera for the first time wow it's so tasty. (It's the batter of soda bread but made into pancakes ish) but we are vegetarian so the cook and staff cooked lentils. Spinach ho!! a huge tray full various wonderful pulses, vegetables all cooked in spices.

I've been pining for Ethiopian food since I moved to Liverpool, but as far as I could determine there wasn't any - until now. Red Sea offers a range of Ethiopian and Eritrean dishes, plus a lot of less interesting fare like burgers and chips. Would that they had the courage to get rid of the latter, but it's a neighbourhood, family restaurant so I guess they think that's too risky. My family and I are vegetarian, and although the restaurant doesn't have a huge array of veg options (meat lovers will definitely be well catered for) they served us a very nice meal, consisting of 4 veg dishes plus salad, all on a big plate of injera (with lots more injera to scoop it all up with). It was tasty and extremely inexpensive. The atmosphere could, perhaps, do with a little work - I could have done without the big TV screen showing a football match, but at least the sound was off, and I'm guessing, again, that they're shooting for a very mixed clientele.

Fabulous lunch yet again. Every single dish is made fresh so your meal may take a little longer but well worth the wait. When in the city this will always be my choice for breakfast or lunch! Thank you .

Jomsom is perfection! The momo dumplings are a must try, perfectly steamed and fried, and full of flavour. The chicken and lamb curries are delicious. The menu offers a great variety of traditional dishes, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Jomsom delivered a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore new flavours. We’ll be back soon!
