Rainey's Traditional Fish & Chips in Ards

Got a gravy chip last night and the chips were not cooked through. Hard as the road. Very disappointed

The worker behind the counter didn’t even pretend to care about cleanliness. I watched in horror as they casually handled the food with bare hands, no gloves in sight, as if they were making a sandwich at home. Cross-contamination? They probably think it’s a new flavor. It’s shocking that a place like this is allowed to serve food. Now, onto the food itself. Greasy doesn’t even begin to describe it. The chips were practically swimming in oil, and not the fresh kind either—this was the stale, burned stuff that tasted like it had been sitting in the fryer for days. Each bite was like chewing on a soggy, oily sponge, with the texture to match. But the real kicker? This gastronomic disaster didn’t just offend my taste buds—it sent me straight to the bathroom with a case of D&V (diarrhea and vomiting) that made me regret every single bite. I’ve never been so violently ill from food in my life. I wouldn’t be surprised if the kitchen here was doubling as a biohazard lab. Rainey’s is a disgrace to the chip shop name. If you value your stomach lining and your dignity, do yourself a favor and never, ever eat here. This place should come with a health warning—or better yet, be shut down entirely.

Food is usually lovely but I got dinner last night and i got burnt sausages where not eatable!

I really enjoyed the food from this chippy. I'm hardly in Donaghadee but I was recommended to try this place out.

Great food, never had a bad meal. My first choice for fish and chips.

Very pleasant staff and great food

Ordered my food and watched the staff behind the counter eating their dinner, licking their fingers and then proceeding to serve the food without washing their hands. They talked amongst themselves and ignored the customers. Food is good but staff need to be trained on hygiene and how to conduct themselves whilst customers are in. Food is an experience with your eyes , I was totally put off with what I saw.

Best take away fish in Donaghadee . Also great pastie baps

I can honestly say with out a shadow of doubt, I have eaten many a suppers, but any supper from Rainys is a game changer, the chips are crispy and the centre to die for. Quality sausages and very reasonably priced unlike other local chip shops and the pasties are pure satisfaction the flavour in the pasties is immense. But if you just want an easy option why not go for their burgers chicken or beef they are all winners, All that aside the food is served by the most polite and friendly faces to be seen fast efficient and friendly. You even get change. Can't wait go go back

Really disappointed in the service tonight as the girl working couldn’t take the time to check allergies for a child’s meal even though this is now a legal requirement! But had plenty of time to try and phone for “back up” went to another business who where happy to comply

Friendly, efficient and the place is spotless. Lovely ladies working their socks off. The number of people coming and going is proof of their deserved popularity. Fish and chips exceptionally good. Will definitely be back.

Food is very good but service is terrible. One of those places where the staff feel you are doing them a favour rather than welcoming your business. Don't ask if you want anything on your chips. 2 sausage suppers and 1 burger plus 3 cans was £25 for a takeaway!!

My son recommended this wee chip shop as he lives in Donaghadee says it's the nicest place to eat. He was not wrong food was incredible everything tasted so fresh.

Best chips and chicken goujons in northern Ireland. Staff always very friendly. Very strongly recommend this place. Never had a bad chip in it yet and my son and I have been going there for just over ten years now.

Just 10 minutes away from shop requested a well cooked cod and separate chip, both fish and chip served together, fish not well done and both fish and chips cold. Extremely disappointed tonight.

Would highly recommend Raineys !!! Food is absolutely gorgeous!!! Staff are so LOVELY to go in to. I was there on 28th April with my sister. She lives in Coleraine and comes to Raineys when she is here. They even gave us free onion rings to try. Be back Def!!!! Try it😉😉😉

Pastie was very good. I ordered a fish supper as well. The fish came as three stuck together gougons. The batter was anemic and slimey . Chips were grand. The picture of the batter looks better than it was.

Lovely lovely food at a really good price

Currently my favourite chip in County Down. The integrity of the chip is tip top, but the whole experience here is of class. Get your chip down to the harbour wall, swing you feet over and enjoy.

Fresh battered fish to order. Always busy as everything is so good. One of the only local take aways where I actually like the chips. The batter is light and crispy and the fish is cooked to perfection. Would not go anywhere else in Donaghadee for fish and chips!
