The standard of the food is fantastic, the volunteers are great, and the 'pay as you feel' format means you're guaranteed to be satisfied. This is the most welcoming, friendly place I have ever been and I came away feeling uplifted. On top of this, the food is environmentally friendly (intercepted from going to waste), ethical (no obligation to pay whatsoever for those that can't) and so beautifully cooked. You can taste the love that goes into it!! Slightly off the beaten track, but so worth a visit. Students - make the trip across Hyde Park and donate what you can!

I have been to the cafe for amazing bistro events, but this was the first time that I have been for lunch. I really enjoyed my visit. It was such a friendly atmosphere. Service was amazing and so was the food. Definitely would recommend and will be coming back.

This cafe is brilliant for every occasion. From the weekday lunch times where you can pop in for a casual three course lunch or set up work lunches with bonus community contribution. For the special occasion the community bistros offer entertainment as you dine and fundraising for local good causes. There is also an amazing community lunch served on Christmas day. I would recommend this cafe to anyone and everyone.

This place puts the MULTI in multi-functional. Catch Rainbow Junktion in the evening for the finely styled themes and even finer dining of 3-course treats that transforms food that would otherwise go to waste at their montly(ish) bistros. Or pop in and grab breakfast/blunch/brunch/lunch that will benefit the community and your tastebuds! Always offers an impressive range of menu options catering for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. Not only does this place tick environmental boxes (rescuing delicious food) in the daytime it also supports the community (ticking those ethical boxes) offering pay as you feel to whoever comes in! If you're bored in Leeds and want to meet a wide variety of colourful humans, head down to Rainbow Junktion. If you're hungry, you can eat. If you're lonely, you can chat and make new friends while helping yourself to a wide varieties of teas. Or if you're not a fan of eating or company you can volunteer!

I was going through a tough time this past few months and even when I had money for food I often chose to eat at rainbow junction. The food was always filling and on the whole very well balanced and extremely tasty, but as well as this, the people there care, give a friendly welcome, there’s no rush to get you out and if you have no money, are homeless, fallen on hard times you can still experience all of these things and the ethos really makes you want to return and even help where you can. I always pod for my meals but the pay as you feel box on the wall removes the feeling of shame or embarrassment if you can’t. I have never eaten a bad meal here but I have eaten several great ones including a 200 people strong Christmas dinner which not only filled my belly but my heart aswell. An incredible amount of hard work and thought goes into everything by all involved and more people visiting could only make this even better!! Go fill your belly not the bins!!

This is an excellent cafe with good food, well prepared and presented. More than that, there are always friendly people to talk too. Moreover it is one of these activities where you can enjoy yourself and know that you are doing good as well, saving perfectly good food from going to waste. Can’t recommend it more highly.

This cafe, rainbow junktion, is amazing! You can pay what you can afford and when you can afford it. I volunteer there sometimes as I can't always pay and I like to help. The people there, volunteers and other customers, are so friendly and made me feel so welcome when I moved to Hyde park about a year ago. I have made a lot of fabulous friends while going to the cafe and Emily and Caleb who co-manage it are always willing to help me x

I really enoyed my 3 course meal with my friends at Rainbow Junction café. Admittedly I got lost on the way but all the rainbows made it clear where to go. Most of the workers are volenteers and are great to have a chat with. The menu changes often so I feel a tad adventurous every time I go. Plus the café aims to reduct as much food waste so you are helping out the community and your carbon footprint when you visit.

I love Rainbow Junction. Their food is ethically sourced, using ingredients that would otherwise go to land fill, and fantastically cooked by an ace team of volunteers. They also provide meals for our community group and its just what we need after a hard morning of graft. The cafe is a lovely diverse mix of people and there is always a good vibe.

Good evening troops, Today we are reviewing ice boujee in Leeds and let me tell you, it was extremely boujee (not icy though it was pretty warm inside) First of all, you are VERY lucky that we did not rate you 4/5 star as you had no waffles in stock which is crazy for a dessert place as it is the most requested item along with eggs on toast (according to the Harvard study taken in 1666 when dessert shop really rose to fame after the great fire of desserts!) but you redeemed yourselves massively with the overall quality of food. The inside of this establishment was like being on extremely strong acid (not that we would know, we have never heard of drugs before;)xx) mum if you’re reading this stop going through my sock drawer, please. There were colours protruding from every corner and also there was a mysterious door in the toilet which I can only assume takes you to Narnia as I heard lions roaring behind it, whoever said yellow and green should never be seen without a colour inbetween was right, it looked like banana bogies. And trust me I’ve tried these and they aren’t nice. But the seats were as soft as a hedgehogs back which if you don’t already know is extremely soft and cushiony. I don’t know if indoor living is a new trend but the garden furniture indoor really stood out to me. Onto the food, we had 4 cookie doughs, which worked out as 3 each and they were absolutely delightful. I cannot describe in words how good this dessert was so I will describe in numbers instead, 8362618204762749477. The ice cream was creamy like a cow and fluffy like a newborn hen, it may be the nicest ice cream I have ever tasted, but I have only tasted 1 before so this may not be a fair comparison. But it worked impeccably well along with the cookie dough. The cookie dough tasted like a cookie that was doughy which is strange for cookie dough however it somehow worked, this is not a combination I would assume to work but wow wee, it certainly did! Presentation was a 10/10, taste was a 10/10 and ya mum is a 10/10. Bossman 1 and 2 worked together like a ship and a big iceberg, which means perfectly and that would a great idea for a film by the way, someone should make that, maybe me, our son Dave Kebab likes films, he was watching one recently about people pretending to be a centipede, I don’t know it ended but he didn’t sleep for 3 nights because he was so thrilled with the film, bless him he’s only 5. We thoroughly enjoyed this place and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone except from my mother in law because I hate her and she doesn’t deserve the pleasure of these desserts, Sandra if you’re reading this stop going through my sock drawer, NOW!!! Over and out you crumbly centipedes.

This was our first visit for over a year and first signs were good with a very busy restaurant on a Wednesday evening. Food and service were excellent! We shared the combo starter between 3 of us and this was definitely sufficient. It arrived sizzling with a delicious selection of pakoras , bhajis and lamb chops. We then shared a Bombay aloo , a gorgeous lamb and spinach balti and a wonderful chicken dish (can’t remember the name ) which contained pieces of peppers and onion. We will definitely be back soon!
