I’d had my eye on this little café for ages, like a fairy tale spot I kept hearing whispers about, tucked away somewhere in the wilderness of North London. The photos gave off full-on Hansel and Gretel vibes, gingerbread cottage energy, whimsy dialled up to eleven, and honestly, I had high hopes. The kind of hopes you don’t dare speak aloud in case they float away. And I’ve got to say, on first glance? It delivered. It’s a proper diamond in the rough. And I mean proper, especially considering I fled London recently, after deciding it had become a bit of a stinky, overpriced shithole (sorry, not sorry). But here I was, lured back into the wilds of North London, which to me, as a die-hard South East creature, has always felt a bit like venturing into Mordor. But off I went, staff in hand, imaginary One Ring in pocket (alright, maybe just a tote bag and my phone), ready for adventure. Naturally, I got lost, took a wrong turn and ended up wandering into their community garden, which was actually a gorgeous little detour. Serendipity, innit. So far, so magical. But then I stepped inside. And that’s where the spell started to wear off. You know when a place looks like it’s going to be warm and inviting, but then the inside gives off that weird, slightly uncomfortable energy? Like the feng shui’s had a bit of a nervous breakdown? That. There was this tiny little side room that could only hold one person, truly, just the one. It looked more like a Harry Potter cupboard than a café nook. Lonely, claustrophobic, and not in a poetic way. And the main room? Absolutely swarmed. You open the door and it’s like, bam, a wall of bodies and noise. No natural flow. It didn’t feel cozy, it felt chaotic. The outside whispers ‘enchanting woodland cottage’, but the inside says ‘pop-up on a rainy market day’. The spatial harmony was just off, like someone forgot to balance the negative and positive space. It’s hard to put your finger on, but I didn’t feel welcomed, not really. Everyone seemed to be squished into this one central space, like moths to a lamp, while the rest of the café just sort of… stood there, unused and unsure of itself. And then there was the food. Or lack thereof. Visually, the place is a delight, but the menu? Not so much. I came ready to feast, inspired by the fairytale vibes, expecting cakes with elderflower glazes and maybe the odd foraged berry, but no. The options were few and far between, and what was there felt more service station than storybook. By 11am, you’d think things would be in full swing, but I was left with a cuppa and a slightly bored expression. No pastries to tempt, no treats to thrill. And it’s a shame, because the potential is enormous. If they just leaned into the magic they’ve already got going, added a few more benches, some warming lamps, a bit of music, brought some of that lush outdoor greenery inside, it could be stunning. I’m talking cozy corners, soft lights, that scent of cinnamon and woodsmoke in the air. Something that makes you want to stay. As it stands, it feels like two different places trying to share the same postcode. There’s a beautiful exterior world, and then an oddly sterile interior that doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. So yes, a lovely outing. A magical beginning. But a café like this should make you feel hugged when you walk through the door, not like you’ve stumbled into the wrong room at a village hall. There’s something special there. It just needs a little more heart, and maybe a cake or two that doesn’t look like it’s given up on life.

First time visiting Queen’s Wood Cafe and I am thoroughly impressed with how great this magical, woodland cafe is. Even though it was busy, my partner & I still were able to get a table right away. The wait for food was just under 20-ish mins - which is not a problem when you have amazing views of woodland and dogs to keep you occupied. Highly recommended their homemade Broccoli soup.

A vibrant, forest vibe And yet a calming place. Amazing coffee, though the price is a bit of a challenge for the area, but a very good cafe to go to and have a coffee on a Saturday or a Sunday and just about every day during the summer months. Can be very cozy in the winter, because it is a house. Highgately recommend it.

This was our second time visiting the café! The food is good, though not particularly special, and we did find the prices a bit high (even for London). That said, the staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes a big difference. The outdoor seating out back, under the trees, is the perfect peaceful spot if you’re looking to relax. Overall, a really pleasant and comfortable experience, best to go right when they open at 9am!

I was very disappointed by this place. The kitchen was understaffed and not serving food and they didn't even put a sign outside, letting people queue for 20 minutes for nothing. To add to that, selling blood orange juice, that in the end is a watery fizzy drink doesn't add to your reputation. I really wanted to like this place for the location and vibes but for me it's a big no.

Hiring an immature and shockingly inefficient barista is one thing, but allowing them to play on their phone during work hours in a busy, high-traffic café is utterly unacceptable and shows a complete lack of professionalism and management. I was served the hottest latte I’ve ever had in my life—so hot the milk literally curdled into a skin on top. Disgusting. The drink was mediocre at best, the food forgettable, and the service downright appalling. This place is an embarrassment. Never coming back, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to avoid it too.

A cozy hidden gem! The journey through the woods is beautiful—especially in spring or autumn. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with supplies for drawing and games, making it a perfect place to relax. We tried the banana cake, tuna mayo sandwich with salad, hot chocolate, and mocha. The sandwich was delicious, portions were good, and the drinks were great too. Prices were reasonable. A true blessing to the soul—will definitely be back!

Finally made it to Queens Wood Café after social media hype foiled my plans two years ago! It was the perfect time, still a small queue (just until the stairs), but nothing too crazy. The café itself is cozy, dog-friendly, and nestled in the woods, which adds to its charm. The staff were fine, nothing exceptional. The toasties looked great and seemed to be a hit, though I only tried the hot chocolate, which was ok-ish… Would have preferred the marshmallows on top of the cream rather than buried underneath (by the time you sit down, they’re already melted!). We’ve also tried their pastries, and they’re average. But what truly makes this place special is the setting. Wrapped in a blanket, with the sun shining and the sound of the woods around me, it was the perfect spot to unwind, think, or even read. If you go for the atmosphere over the food, you won’t be disappointed!

Tucked away in the woods, this charming café is a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The ambiance is incredibly cosy, with warm lighting, wooden interiors, and a crackling fireplace that makes you feel right at home. The café has an organic garden, adding a fresh touch to its food and drinks, and even offers private cabins you can book for a more secluded experience. The menu leans towards the expensive side, but the quality of ingredients and the serene atmosphere somewhat justify the cost. The coffee is rich and aromatic, and the homemade pastries are a delight. You can tell that a lot of care goes into sourcing and preparing their food. Beyond the food, the café offers a variety of activities—board games, books to read, and even drawing materials for a creative touch. Whether you're looking to unwind with a good novel or engage in a friendly game, there's something for everyone. Overall, if you're looking for a place to relax, disconnect, and enjoy a high-quality meal in a stunning natural setting, this café is worth a visit. The cafeteria its surroundings and location are absolutely charming with an atmosphere straight out of a fairytale. But once inside you realize that there’s hardly any space. The seating area must be about 9 square meters. There's barely any space between the tables and it feels a bit claustrophobic being so close to the person next to you. I was really disappointed when the waitress brought me my menu with blue disposable plastic gloves that were dirty. She handed me my utensils wrapped in a napkin that was stained with dark spots. Obviously I had to ask for a replacement but it left me wondering how they manage the cleanliness of cups, plates, etc. I was really let down. it looked better on their website and while it might be very photogenic and Instagrammable, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of space and hygiene.

Came to this cafe knowing it was popular on social media and the queues weren’t close to the worst of it. The staff were very rude and short with us, and after standing waiting for a coffee for nearly 30 minutes without being asked what we ordered, we requested a refund before they offered us the coffees we never got. We ordered a flat white and a mocha and it couldn’t have been further from a mocha. More like a watery cappuccino. Very disappointing and the coffee itself wasn’t that good either. On top of that, £5.95 for a piece of toast with melted cheese on a piece of bread, not even crispy toast, just bread. More salad than the thing I actually ordered. Honestly, I never came specially for the coffee (but I always get some) or food since there are better places around here for that, but I liked that it was so tranquil. I wanted to order something more substantial food wise but decided not to after seeing how slowly the queue was moving. You also can't see the pastry display whilst queuing until after you've paid and are in the drinks queue. I would have ordered differently if I had seen what I was ordering first. My pastry and drink were fine, but I ended up being disappointed with my food choice made worse by having queued for so long for it! Overall, not worth the lost time catching up with my friend. Workers: Some seem friendly, but I will say not welcoming towards me. As I did ask for replacement because I didn’t taste my coffee or just milk. I did apologise.. for this for even asking. (The guy was nice about it to change it) Sadly I have to give my honest experience and review on this as I was little upset on some people approach. I hate to leave a negative review for a small business. This is a lovely little cafe enjoyed by locals, with a quaint exterior. I’m pleased that it has attracted recent attention through TikTok/ Instagram, however it is now overrun with tourists and I fear that it will loose its charm. Today I ordered a coffee, soup and toastie to takeaway which came to over £20. I asked multiple times for my order to be for take away (they clarified it would be) and yet it arrived to me on a plate. By the time they returned it back to be in a bag (about 15 minutes later..) it was cold. The burrata toastie was ice cold and super sloppy (literally looked like it had been dipped in milk) and my coffee was small and may as well have been iced. I image the staff are feeling stressed with the influx of business and probably doing the best they can, but I am resentful that I spent £20 on an inedible toastie and cold coffee that I threw away after two sips.

Nothing special except the location. The till was empty so I asked the barista and had to go back to the till. He looked at me as if I jumped in the queue though I'd been waiting there for quite a while and deserved to order first. Rude.

I don’t get why people leave 1 star reviews because the place is too busy???! What exactly is your bad review about, that the place works well?? Ridiculous!! Go to get a coffee in a petrol station, that’s your place!

Went here on a weekday but the queues were absurdly long and filled with tiktok tourists and influencers. It will take over an hour to order and even after that, there won’t be any available space for you to sit. Toilet didn’t have a lock and was quite dirty. Skip if you don’t want to wait— their food and drinks aren’t worth queuing up for.

Stopped there on my walk for a hot drink, the place is really nice and the matcha really good I didn’t get to try the food as all the tables were all in use, but I’d love to come back to try it!

The queue was too long however it’s a really cozy and nice place I ordered avocado toast and carrot cake both were delicious but the chai latte tasted like milk with no flavor

This cafe is no longer a hidden gem because it is now internet famous! The queue takes over an hour and even if you do get served, you won't get a table. It's not a peaceful environment; there are people queueing right next to your table. If you are wondering, it is the case on weekdays as well. I feel sorry for the staff, they are so stressed and rushed! This photo is only showing half of the queue btw.

Service 4 stars only because it was so busy - good for them but it took 1.5 hours to queue for and receive a sandwich and soup :,). Admittedly, we found the cafe via social media and it looks like everybody else did, too! The food was delicious, the servers were lovely and you can’t beat the location though! Get the burrata toastie!! I’d love to come back on a weekday!

I was excited to try this place. It's really cute but food and coffee disappointing. Went early in the morning and got very busy and noisy quickly

Pretty little cafe ruined by over popularity on TikTok. Avoid.

The coffee and croissant are nice but I was a little taken aback at how rushed the staff are, the person making the coffee was reusing the same milk jugs over and over again with the old milk in it and pouring it pretty rushingly I had also asked for the coffee to be in a cup/mug and it ended up being served in a paper cup

My friend took me here today! It's her favorite place. She's sad that it is now being overrun by tourists since it is a community, beautiful neighborhood cafe. Most tranquil setting and cozy. In the middle of the woods and just feels like you're not in a city. Hidden gem in London!

This community cafe is stunning and currently all over TikTok and Instagram. Come here for the vibe but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Prepare for it to be very busy even on a weekday. Unfortunately I was served cold soup and while the flavours were very nice, it was still cold. It was so busy I couldn’t get to the counter to ask for it to be heated up. The coffee is nice and thankfully was hot. The staff is nice but again so busy they’d run out of most food options, no takeaway cups and no table numbers. It was also about a 20 minute wait in line to order. Walk past for the vibes but unless you have a long time and don’t mind average food skip ordering.

Mocha I had was really nice, kitty served me at the till and she gave a very warm service throughout. It was incredibly busy, however despite this, is a really lovely caf

Queens Wood Cafe truly feels like a slice of heaven on earth, an enchanted cabin surrounded by nature’s splendor. The setting is magical, and as soon as you arrive, you’re enveloped in a serene, peaceful atmosphere that invites you to slow down and savor the beauty around you. Every corner feels picture-perfect, so don’t forget your camera for those amazing shots. This spot is wonderfully pet-friendly; it was a joy to see dogs of all kinds there, enjoying the space as much as we did. For breakfast, we tried their pastries with coffee, plus a toast with cheese. I particularly liked the cappuccino, though the croissant wasn’t quite the classic French style I had expected. Prices are affordable, adding to the café’s welcoming vibe. We were so absorbed in the surroundings that time slipped away. We only left because it got chilly outside, but I can’t wait to return, again and again, to experience that enchanting atmosphere. Queens Wood Cafe is a must-visit; words simply can’t capture its beauty!

Worst Cafe ever!! Queuing for more than 1 hour, once we finally ordered was no much left, no more cups to take a way, such a bad organisation!! It looks they are just an instagram famous but nothing remarkable, coffee average

Have been coming here for a while and have had cozy, tranquil experiences. It was a place where you could relax, enjoy a coffee, and read a book. Came back again today only to find a queue snaking into the woods because it has blown up on social media. It is great that they have found success, but there is clearly no intention of retaining the cozy environment that once was. A reservation system or a sign up sheet at least would allow people to come back later for a seat. The long queue also ruins the experience for everyone who is currently seated.

A beautiful cafe which has been unfortunately ruined by internet fame. My partner and I used to visit Queen's Wood Cafe regularly and recently came back for a quick lunch. We were surprised to see a queue wrapping around the side of the building. Apparently this is due to the cafe going viral on Instagram. Due to the length of the queue we couldn't get in to get food or coffee. My frustration comes with the fact that this situation is not new; based on the negative reviews it has been happening for at least 3 weeks. I understand that it takes time for a business to adapt, but there are several easy steps they could have taken to improve customer experience and none of these are in effect. They could have a paper sign in sheet with return times available for tables. They could have a sign at the end of the queue with estimated wait times. They could have a separate queue for takeaway and coffee. I am also upset because I contacted the business to voice concerns about the crowds and received a very canned response about how happy they are that more people are finding their restaurant. Well... That's great, but what about customer experience for locals who have been coming here for a long time? Very disappointed and hoping that the mania around this place settles soon. EDIT - I initially gave them two stars to account for how wonderful this place used to be but I just saw that the canned response they gave me is EXACTLY word for word the response they gave to the negative comment below mine on Google. This indicates to me that they didn't even read my feedback and this is especially upsetting. Due to this level of lack of attention to customer feedback I am changing my rating to one star.

Charming cafe inside the woods with a natural healing vibe. The chai latte was very good, and so was the raisin pudding. Unfortunately, we had to queue standing for more than 30 min - the place was overcrowded. Apparently, it became very popular because of Instagram, but conscious it might have been the timing (Sunday ~2pm).

First time back here in a long time. Espresso and V60 were both delightful; it's nice to see coffee shops with attention to craft, what with how commerical lots of places are getting. Avocado toast was somewhat bland, could definitely have used some lemon or lime. Staff were all lovely. The seating is very nice, and I love the notice board and events calendar. It feels like a working community space, which is a rare gem.

We ordered mozzarella sticks , wings and cheesy jalapeños . Staff did not communicate properly or take the payment. We waited 30 mins for someone to take the card payment, to my horror I realised that the sides we ordered 30mins ago were not made as we saw them take it out the freezer . It took another 30 mins as they popped it in the oven , 8 staff members, standing and doing nothing, not busy , a guy told me to wait 4 minutes and it took another 20 minutes. No one apologised, there was no accountability. And spectacularly small portions, for something they bought frozen, not freshly made , taking ages to prepare. I would not recommend this place. Lazy and ignorant staff.

Great staff and service. Great prices and tasty food. You can eat in or takeaway. The menu has a great amount of options and meals. Always freshly cooked and tastes great with generous portions. I would recommend this place as it gets busy on match days and events.
