Queen's Wood Cafe in Haringey

As a local, I would love to give this venue a 5 star review but I had my son’s birthday party over the weekend and it was a disaster. The cafe was super busy and it’s the same staff that is trying to serve people in the cafe that is managing the events. The manager was super nice to deal with before and after the party but he was MIA during. It was extremely stressful and I would not have another party here. The food was nice though.

It was so untidy and dirty , the plates were dirty and the cups as well. And poor service. So disappointed

Enchanting little cabin, out of time and yet well preserved. Cozy and leafy, with plenty of treats and board games to entertain oneself. Mocha was delicious though super hot. Better avoid weekends as there’s often a queue.

Lovely location and cafe but it's incredibly overwhelmed with customers, at least at the weekend. After queueing for around 15 mins I ordered a toastie. After 1hr 15 mins I asked for an update and was told the order had probably got lost. I did get a refund but I won't be back again, especially not at the weekend!

Unfortunately can't recommend here - the mocha I had was terrible, I saw the barista use powder chocolate and even then it didn't taste of anything. A bigger coffee machine is definitely needed as the one they have is small and seems old, cannot keep up with the demand. Went on a Saturday afternoon which means I queued 30 minutes to place the order and I can understand staff are overwhelmed with a sudden surge of customers. I ordered the hummus with avocado & sun dried tomatoes toastie, but it was just an open sandwich 😅 was expecting it to be hot which it wasn't but it did taste nice. My friend was happy with his tuna mayo with cheese toastie at least. It's such a pretty cafe with great natural surroundings, and I love that they grow their own ingredients but food and drinks quality definitely need to be improved. I should add that staff seemed nice and were apologetic about the wait.

The place has such a vibe in the woods. Thanks to a lot of content going around on IG, there was a lot of people and line on a Saturday was huge. Service is super basic and slow as they are clearly unready to such crowds. Quality of coffee, cakes and pastries is really average and there's a lot of margin for improvement. Such a pity with such a lovely place.

It's nice but then it isn't. Maybe if you are there on a week day when there are no visitors it's a whole different experience, but on a weekend - wouldn't recommend. The place is lovely and pretty, but had sooo so many people when we came. We waited in the queue for like 30 min. Most of the food was gone already (it was around 2-3 pm). There were no seats... And the people just kept coming and coming. The ladies making the drinks were so tired from non stop coffee making that you could see their hands shake from the pressure. This leads them to become slightly sloppy, but it's not their fault that the place overworks them so much. Just feel sorry for them... Anyhow. Regular coffee, slightly overpriced food, and too many people. They should really think of expanding or changing the format of how they operate.

Mocha was mediocre and staff were incredibly busy so don't expect artisanal coffee making. All cakes etc. were completely sold out on Sunday afternoon. However the location is absolutely gorgeous and I would come back just to relax in nature.

The homely decor and cabin-ambience makes for the perfect place to read a book, and sip on a chai latte—however, the one I ordered tasted of heated plain milk, sadly. A great chai latte experience would easily have made this review 5 stars. Hopefully next time!

Magical place in the forest with lovely service and lovely food!

One of my favorite spots ever. Very calm, serene, with tasty food and extremely friendly staff. It all feels very homey, cozy, especially with the roofed terrace overlooking the forest and with the welcoming staff.

Super cute cafe in the woods! Given its location I thought it would be heaving when we visited on bank holiday, but it had a nice buzz with available seats. Being nestled in the forest means you can enjoy peace and being surrounded by nature. Coffee and cake were both excellent. We’ll be back on a walk soon.

It’s the prettiest little cafe I’ve seen in a while! Sadly the coffee wasn’t very good, and the almond croissant I ordered was stale. But I visited for the overall experience and I would visit again and again for sure. You can bring your pets in the cafe, all the customers had them and I really love that.

A few weeks ago I had a birthday party at the café. Honestly, I have been struggling to put into words how AMAZING everything was, from start to finish. But to start, Ismael who runs the cafe with his with Sarah, took care of me and the planning from start to finish. The food was incredible (I still have people asking me about it), the venue layout was arranged perfectly and looked like out of a movie. The service and staff were lovely and accommodating. To have such a 10/10 experience in a fairly budget friendly way made the event even more incredible. I can't tell you how perfect this was and what a wonderful, magical place to do so in. Ismael and Sarah's cafe is truly a community gem and if you're considering having an event here, do not think twice about it!

I would give a hundred stars for the atmosphere if I could. What a place – absolutely gorgeous, a hidden gem, a beautiful hideaway. I usually come here with kids and they love it, but I'd also like to come here to write - what an ideal place for writing, too. The staff are lovely and there's a good selection of food on offer. The garden at the back is an utter delight; the whole place is an utter delight. Thank you everyone at this lovely café for creating such a wonderful oasis!

A nice cafe in possibly the nicest location of any cafe in London. The cafe clearly has a focus on the community and I feel like that’s why it’s quite a simple menu of food and hot drinks. I’d like to see a filter coffee option and some more savoury baked goods options, maybe speak to Tarn bakery towards archway they have the best bakery around. Really the only problem is staffing, all of the staff are lovely but they are seemingly permanently understaffed. Often there is just one person doing everything, taking orders, making drinks, making food. It makes no sense, I often see people leave the queue and walk out because it’s taking so long and it makes your staff more stressed, so the lack of adequate support loses you customers and probably staff members over time.

It was one of these random moments, where I was out walking and exploring. I decided to go through the woods and found this lovely place. It was the best decision to get a coffee and almond croissant here. It's such a cozy and dog friendly place. I really like it. The vibe here is amazing, and you don't really want to leave again. The seating area outside is wonderful. Indoors is different, relaxed café with very fitting backgroundmusic. The coffee I had was so good and the croissant was good too! Prices are average. I loved it and will come back next time I fly to London!

I had my 60th birthday party here on a Saturday evening in June with about 30 guests. The venue is so magical set alone in ancient woodland. No decoration is needed - the cafe has outside fairy lights and candles were lit inside. The staff were really helpful and flexible with all my planning questions and on the evening itself very proactive. I provided my own catering and everything left over was boxed up and ready for me to collect the following day. The venue is suitable for all weathers with plenty of space inside and outside with and without cover. It can host up to 60 guests. Location wise, it’s also very convenient with bus and tube connections very close by. Shops are also not far, in case of last minute requirements. All in all, a fantastic, unique, authentic venue - a real gem!

Nice cafe. Warm drinks are good enough. Food looks good. Nice atmosphere although loads of children, so not great for those trying to escape kids. Staff are friendly and there’s water available and toilets are good enough.

One of my absolute favourite spots in London. It’s like it’s straight from a (hip) fairytale. Their small menu of food has never disappointed (especially their mouth-watering burrata), and the staff have always been the sweetest. Equally perfect for a quick picturesque weekday lunch and a small gathering of friends with some prosecco in their vegetable garden. I’ll miss this place dearly when I leave Muswell Hill!

The place is magical, in the middle of the woods. Coffee is not the best, my flat white didn't have any art and also had a bit of foam, but decent overall. The location is what makes this place gorgeous.

We had our daughter’s 5th birthday party at the cabin behind the cafe today and it was so lovely. Beautiful, peaceful setting. Staff were super helpful helping us get set up for the craft activity I’d planned. While we went out to the woods afterward they set up tables for food for the kids and the cafe provided the catering. The food was all lovely, they stored my cake for me and lent me a knife to cut it. We even ordered some bubbly for the grown ups and both kids and adults had a lovely time. The staff cleaned up everything after as well though we had offered to help! This was such an idyllic setting and having the cafe there to do the catering and the fact that they just had everything we needed saved me so much time and energy. Worth every penny - highly recommend 👍

A good place to chill after a walk in Highgate Wood. Good coffee, delicious quiche and lovely homemade banana loaf. Do remember take a few snapshots of the view from your seats!

I love this place! The location and atmosphere are soo nice. Food is really good, but some of the things are too expensive - a small slice of quiche what small salad on the side for 9.50 is a bit too much.

Embraced by the woods and filled with natural light, this cafe is perfect for a solitary morning of reflection or brunch meetups with friends. It has been a perfect escape for my friends and I and a place we return to come rain or shine!! My children say that winter there is magical and they love the play area outside the cafe. In short, there is nothing not to love about this cafe: from the new owners who are kind and friendly, to the location, quality, portion size & service. It’s simply wonderful.

We have been trying to book for a wedding reception and have been to the cafe and spoken with both owners Ismael and Sarah who asked me to email. I have now sent 4 emails in total over a period of 10 days and had absolutely no response. I've called and asked staff to pass on a message to reply and still nothing. It's so sad that this place which we have been visiting for so many years and which has so much potential is being run with so much incompetence. Unfortunately it seems a common theme amongst the locals I've spoken with. What a massive pity. P.S In response to your reply Ismael. I only happened to speak to you very briefly because I was lucky to catch you when I popped in to collect a jacket that had been forgotten. I was there earlier in the day hoping to catch someone as no-one had replied to my emails for over a week! You then said you would reply to the emails sent by the coming Friday. Of course that reply never came. I did impress upon you the need for us to secure a space via a deposit or something more formal so we could continue with our plans. Just a tip for future reference: If you aren't sure how to manage a wedding reception for 25 people just be honest and say so, but not getting back is most definitely not the way forward. A simple response to emails is ABSOLUTELY required when running any business. Ignoring email after email is difinitively NOT the right way forward. That space has been hired by people for as long as I can remember and speaking with Sarah who told me the hire fee was £250 and then you who told me the hire fee is £450 is also a no no. When I mentioned to you we had been told it was £250 all you did was shrug. Arrogance isn't a good look on anyone I'm afraid. Especially when one doesn't really know what they're doing. PPS. Surely you must realise it's far from ideal to have to resort to leaving a bad review to illicit a simple response from someone at QWC.

Cannot fault this magical idyll on the edge of Queen's Wood. Lush food and drink, service with a smile and dog friendly too. Bring the kids and you'll loose them for an hour on the ropes course whilst you sit back and enjoy a bev and a cake!

My first visit and I’ll definitely be going back soon! What a wonderful cafe, amazing food in really special location. A true hidden gem in London!

Spent the whole afternoon here with friends and all our kids. We had coffee, cakes, cheese on toast and avocado on toast- all delicious. We were able to sit and chat in the outdoor area whilst the kids played in the play area and in the wood. When the kids got a little tired and cold the cafe provided colouring packs for the kids and blankets so we could stay outside. We’ll be going back again next weekend!

Really beautiful cafe but after spending money here I needed to quickly pop to the toilets and when I asked if I could use them the grill clearing up told me "no sorry I've just cleaned it!" I was upset by her horrible attitude not at all friendly we left feeling if we ever wanted to go back again we will pop over the rd in future hope to hear back QWT

This is a really sweet little café situated on the edge of Queen's Wood. It serves a range of cakes, pastries along with a small but tasty range of savoury dishes. The staff are always very helpful and the café is as dog friendly as it could be. I'm never disappointed when I visit.

It’s fantastic park cafe with homemade carrot cakes and lunch which is really good. Beautiful outside seatings, covered area and indoor seating too. Very quiet cafe next to large oak tree. Speedy service too. It’s my favourite cafe at Highgate!

A lovely cafe in the middle of Queens Wood park. It is really a relaxing place with a nice greenhouse at the back and space to sit both indoor or outdoor. We went on a Sunday lunchtime which was slightly busy and the service a bit slow but the coffee was good and the location worth it! :)

Nice atmosphere at queens wood café. It’s newly refurbished with a new management. We ordered a salad of the day and a burrata sandwich. Coffee and banana loaf for my friend. Back garden is lovely. Finally a good coffee and food is very delicious ! Super recommended

What a disappointment, used to love this place. Was looking forward to some nice polenta cake, ended up instead with some disgusting pineapple cake that should not be on sale...

This used to be an amazing place which we loved to go for breakfast but sadly it recently changed management and it serves Caribbean food now…makes no sense for the place. Bad service, bad food, horrible coffee..so sad to lose such a special gem

Just love this place. It’s a cafe in queens wood, opposite Highgate wood, and has the feel of a mountain chalet. I love sitting in the garden for breakfast but the indoors space is nice too - it’s never too busy and is an excellent option for Sunday brunch. The food is fresh and good quality and the staff always super friendly. It’s also a lovely place to hold a birthday party for kids

I had a lovely slice of berry polenta cake and a cup of Earl grey with my cousins in the morning and then came back for lunch after our walk! Such an incredibly lovely setting and the food is brilliant and really fairly priced. Lots of healthy tasty salads and yummy savoury food. Coffees looked great as well.

My very favourite cafe in muswell hill! The garden, the variety of food, especially the carrot cake are amazing. Sitting in the garden listening to the bird song is pure heaven. Highly recommended.

Sadly it’s a great location and beautiful place. But the coffee not sure if they know what they doing there sorry , flat white coffee is 6oz flat milk not half litre of foam . The breakfast I don’t like food from microwave sorry my hash browns was soggy insisted of crispy ;( the eggs was alright , but the veggies sausage like wet paper . Also a bit pricy . Don’t take this review as complain . Take it like a tips maybe you can change something . Good luck

Lovely place to stop for a bite or to socialise. There's a variety of seating including outdoors, covered but well ventilated, and indoors. I had a gorgeous carrot cake. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and staff were very good with my anxiety. Will be back!

I had a flat-white, panini and a cake. The coffee was ok and the cake was quite nice. The panini was on the pricey side at £8.70. It took about 20 minutes to make which was surprisingly long. When it arrived I realised it was microwaved as it was hard and soggy. I was quite disappointed. The salad it came with was tasty but dripping wet. I’m not sure why. Overall I may come back here for a coffee and cake but won’t be buying food again.
