This is our favourite local restaurant. We eat here a lot usually on a Sunday when there is a very reasonably priced set lunch menu. The food is always good as in the service and the puddings are so good.

Very decent, just not that special. No candles, decor more day time gelateria than night time warm and welcoming. Pork with mushrooms good, pasta with bacon mush, pesto and tomato the star attraction, seafood spaghetti under seasoned. Pinot Grigio keenly priced.

This is our local restaurant of choice. We often eat here and the food is always good. Service comes with a smile and the puddings are to die for. The tiramisu and carrot cake are exceptionally good.

Popped in here for a bite to eat for lunch. Service was really quick and the menu,though not huge,had something to suit all tastes. The minestrone soup was a meal in itself. Amazing value at £3.95. Food was freshly prepared and piping hot. Don’t miss this gem in Kilmalcolm.

We live nearby and eat here a lot. The food is consistently good. We love the puddings, the tiramisu is to die for and the carrot cake is yummy. The service is excellent, we feel lucky to have this restaurant so close.

Food is good ...wine is good, happy to recommend ...cafe atmosphere. Smallish menu. Good place to go if you want a drink and food and you're local. Decor modern and clean

Oddly emptier than deserved, though multiple carry out pizza orders also being processed. A big clinical despite flickering candles, all those white lights and walls..Lovely staff and attentive owner.

One to avoid if you are hoping to go with your young family as they 'don't do high chairs'. They didn't even bother to try and accommodate us.

Having to pay a weekly winter visit to Kilmacolm, this restaurant just gets better since reopening a couple of years ago, with among the best pizzas and tiramisu I have tasted despite many visits to Italy. The staff are most attentive and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere congenial with families of all ages enjoying themselves. Kilmacolm is indeed fortunate to have such a quality restaurant with such extensive opening hours. It was a bleak place in which to spend an evening before Pieris reopened.

The ice cream in Pieris is the best I've ever tasted. Good old fashioned homemade Italian ice cream.

Very attentive staff. Expert server gave all specials which was a lot to remember and she did it with ease and great poise. Food was great and atmosphere was great also.

We really enjoy the food at Pieris. The pizza is delicious and the deserts and cakes are scrumptious. We are lucky enough to live close and have eaten here many times, and the food is consistently good.

Meet up with a friend here for a catch up. Welcome if you could call it that was poor as was service. Coffee's latte & cappuccino sadly uninspiring As there is quite a lot of competition in village Pieris need to up their game!

Excellent late breakfast after leisurely walk, best French toast ever!! Would love to visit again to check out lunch/dinner options.

We have been eating here since the restaurant opened and have always enjoyed the food. Today we had the set three course lunch, it was all really well prepared and delicious. Standout for us was the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. We will be back soon.

Visited for dinner as visiting friend who live just around the corner.

Decided to go to our local restaurant for a meal on walking through the door we thought oh plenty of empty tables but the usual moody owner said sorry we are very busy . We pointed to the empty tables and he said they were booked . We left and went to tapas and we were greeted by friendly staff and ate well . We walked past Pieris less than an hour later and most of the tables were still empty.

We enjoyed a lovely family dinner last week. Food was fabulous with choice of pasta, pizza, tapas and specials. We tried the tapas which was lovely and tasty. Great service and made to feel special.

I am a regular here for coffee and from time to time for a meal. The best coffee bar none and the meals are excellent. A fine wine selection too. The staff are very attentive and if you're looking for a nice evening and a fine dinner, I can unreservedly recommend this cafe.

We made a late booking for 8 people on a Saturday night and Pieris were able to accommodate us no problem. Service was excellent. The knowledge of the menu (which has extensive vegetarian options) was fantastic. We started with the sharing platters and advised as to how many to share. One vegetarian option and one carne option were more than enough for 8 as a light starter. The home made focaccia was sublime! I opted for the meat balls and they did not disappoint. The portions were just about spot on! The flavour fantastic. Every one in our group enjoyed the food very much.

Cafe type atmosphere during the day masks the fact you are about to be served a top quality meal. We had starters (goats cheese, salad, breads) and pizza's. Excellent food and service fantastic.

This local restaurant continues with excellent service and the standard of cleanliness is very good. However, the normal menu remains the same, so perhaps this could be changed and different choices could be offered.

We have been eating here since the restaurant opened. Pieris food is well prepared, tasty, and comes in decent portions. We are lucky to have this great little bistro on our doorstep. The food is constantly good and the puddings are wonderful. We look forward to our meals here.

We love this local restaurant for its skilled, fresh cooking and friendly welcome. Today's Fritto Misto was excellent! There's always a good range of specials including home made pasta and bread. A great asset to Kilmacolm.

My husband and I had dinner here last night, it was as great as usual. We are regular customers and would highly recommend visiting. The food is lovely, the staff are friendly. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit

We held a gathering of friends here last week. Hadn't been in for a while and loving the new decor! Treated very well and make to feel very welcome. Although not eating a full meal, we looked at the menu and at what others were eating and it all looked fantastic. We tried the focaccia with a lovely Pinot Grigio - absolutely fabulous! A real Italian gelateria as well! Will definitely be back!

Whether it is a quick coffee with friends, a snack or light lunch or a dinner for family or friends, this really is hard to beat. It has an amazing menu, always has fresh specials and the wine list is fantastic.

Great lunch with on point service. Had the 3 course lunch menu which was very reasonable and deliciously filling. Would recommend booking a table in advance as space is limited.

Poor acoustics. Poor staff - how many times do you walk past a table that needs cleared? Poor food. Undercooked- actually raw ravioli. Overpriced main course specials. Why do you need specials, the menu is big enough as it is and they should be written up and PRICED. Risotto was excellent. Took friends and I'm now embarrassed because it was a pretty rubbish experience. Such a shame

A friendly local restaurant with genuine Italian food, daily specials, open all day. And.... home made ice cream! A great asset to the lovely village of Kilmacolm

Luckily when we arrived at Pieri's early on a Saturday evening there were no other customers. The three of us settled in and enjoyed filling pasta, a Tuscan seafood stew and a beef and sausage dish, followed by excellent cappuccino for the ladies and expresso for the male member of our little party. The personnel were attentive and friendly - it's a local haunt for aunty - and all was well. Then the crowds swarmed in and the noise level rose. We realized that Pieri's is popular and given the quality of the food, its not surprising. But if the restaurant is crowded, the acoustics are a challenge...

We're so lucky to have a local cafe that serves really good food at reasonable cost, first class for a tea time meal on impulse. Pleasant fast service and fabulous icecream.

We are lucky that this gem of a restaurant is within walking distance of our home. The food is always perfectlyl cooked, and the service is good. The deserts are really yummy, with our favourites being the moist delicious carrot cake and the superb tiramisu.

My brother and I visited Pieris one Sunday evening. It was my first time there though not for my brother. We both ordered the lasagne which was very tasty and got Natalie the girl who waited on us to put plenty of Parmesan on top. We really enjoyed it. At the time we did wish we had ordered chips on the side. We had coffee with that. Afterwards we opted for the carrot cake which has been recommended and was homemade.

Been wanting to visit for a while since it opened and finally visited in September. Like other reviews, you get the distinct impression that if you don't drive a Range Rover or Porche or one of the locals with money, your not welcome. When we arrived, we were left hanging about until we were shown a table, the staff randomly pointing at tables, we went to sit at a table we thought was ours only to be told it's not, standing while a decision was made which one was. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient but the management look at you in disdain and before you even order you wonder why you are spending your hard earned cash in the place, feeling like an inconvienience. Told they need the table back within a certain time, you rush your meal, not enjoying it and wonder if you have time for (or even dare order) desserts. Food is lovely and fresh and that's the only reason it's not getting a 1 star. It can also be a bit noisy inside, metal chair legs scrapping along the floor, people talking above each other and above the coffee machine. Its a small place. It's hard to believe it's how much it's changed from the friendly wee cafe a few doors down to this. Shame.

Visited here for lunch dinner and drinks on each occasion really enjoyed the food and found the staff helpful and friendly. The ice cream is absolutely wonderful and available to take away. Worth booking on a weekend as it gets very busy.

First up, I agree with previous posters about the unfriendly, and in my opinion, high-handed attitude of the female proprietor. My wife and I should have turned around and walked back out the door upon being greeted with her look of disdain towards us. The place was empty apart from locals using the couches. (we knew they were obviously locals as the man serving spent more time chatting to them than attending to us). They said they had reservations for the main seating area so acted like they were doing us a favour by squeezing us into the high table next to the door. They had to decant a young girl, presumably the child of the owner, who was doing her homework to another table to accommodate us....thanks for the favour! Stayed there for an hour having drinks whilst the tables at the back sat empty. We won't be going back here.

The food was fabulous, the wine was great and it's the best ice-cream I have had in a very long time. My third visit and I have never been disappointed.

Last minute decision to try this restaurant. No reservation but the owner was really accommodating in organising a table for us. Really appreciated & a gesture that will see us return. Plenty of choice on the menu and specials. I decided on the lasagne and not disappointed. Due to time constraints we opted for a take away ice-cream - OMG the ice cream was delicious!!will be making a return trip to try the ice cream sundaes!

A pleasant bistro style restaurant with good food at reasonable prices quickly served by friendly staff But OMG the noise from anti-social diners is unbearable If you have average hearing this is not the place for you

We recently visited PIeri's with the family (all adults now) to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Although we frequently pop in for coffee, this was the first time we had tried dinner since the cafe/bistro relocated earlier in the year. We were all pleasantly surprised with the variety of choices available on the menu (despite there being no steaks) and the quality and value of the meals ordered was good. The ambiance is definitely informal bistro rather than plush restaurant however it was great to find that Kilmacolm has a decent Saturday night dinner option available once more.

Menu varied much to choose from. We have eaten here on several occasions, truly delicious food and deserts to die for. Highly recommend this restaurant. We love Italian food and this is the best by a long shot in Inverclyde and Renfrewshire. Try it!

Just nipped in for some ice cream to this new café, what a great surprise the ice cream was delicious. We just had 2 scoops of vanilla in a single nugget wafer! My that took as back a year or two! The menu looks good for meals, we'll be back for some of that soon.

We were down visiting relatives who live in Kilmacolm who took us (my husband, young daughter and I) to Pieris for dinner last night. We had lovely shared platters for starters and main dishes, all food was excellent and portion sizes were spot on. But above all this, the service we received was excellent. Anyone who has young children will know there's nothing worse than a grumpy toddler in a restaurant before the food has even arrived, and when my 2 yr old daughter decided she just wasn't having it (cue melt-down mode) the lovely man (sorry didn't catch his name) brought her out an ice-cream, completely un-prompted, and this silenced her immediately which meant we, and the other customers in the restaurant, could get on with enjoying our meals. It really is the little things that can make all the difference, thank you very much to the male member of staff and all the other staff were extremely welcoming and helpful also. Would definitely visit again, thank you! :)

Not many places for dinner in Kilmacolm considering its so posh. I had come all the way from Spain so sis wanted to impress. We were not disappointed. The bread starters were the best ever, light and flaky. Also the olives and dried tomato even compared with Spain. We loved the Italian tapas which meant we were not over fazed with the main course. Sensibly priced wine and good value.

Visited pieris for the first time since it moves premises and was quite disappointed. We waited almost 15 minutes to be asked what drinks we would like and I said we are ready to order food too but was told we had to order via someone else who would also tell me if the specials. I waited and waited and waited for someone else to finally take my order and when she arrived she was very cold and unwelcoming. No specials were mentioned and there was also no kids option on the menu. I ordered sausage ciabatta with cheese and onion with a portion of chips and a half sandwich for the kids option. When it arrived the ciabatta was toasted bread and there was one sausage in the whole sandwich with a tiny bit of cheese and soggy red onion. The chips were in fact skin on potato wedges that seemed to be fried. There were no condiments on the table and none offered (not even salt or pepper). I definitely wouldn't rush back to eat in but their ice cream is delicious. It is exceptionally noisy inside too so if you want a peaceful lunch and actually hear any conversation with your group then maybe rethink visiting here.

This is our local restaurant and we feel lucky to live so close. The food is always good as is the service. In the evening they serve delicious Italian tapas, and of course their fabulous carrot cake.

Our first visit here - tempted as we had been recommended it by friends. Arrived in a group of five, including my relatives from Singapore. A good start was being greeted warmly by the front of house and shown into a bright, modern and welcoming interior. Had an excellent meal - the two items off the 'special' menu that we had were first rate as were the other items off the a la carte menu. Good wine as well. The restaurant was full and buzzing on a Tuesday night !! We all had a really great time and will certainly come again.

We have eaten here many times and the food is always good. The Italian tapas in the evening is excellent. The ice cream is yummy as is the tiramisu, and the carrot cake is sublime. The restaurant is usually busy, always a pointer to the excellent quality of the food.

I agree with some previous reviews Extremely rude manageress/owner(?) very unwelcoming! Ice cream tastes good, but other than that I wouldn't suggest going here with a family.

Met a friend for dinner and it was fine. The portions are a reasonable size, not too big, but that makes them a little pricey. It's a decent menu and the lasagne was very meaty. It's popular with the locals and it fills a much needed space in the village. Will return.

Usually a coffee or breakfast spot for us, but have made a few evening visits since the move to new premises with extended hours and menu. It's almost always busy, so booking is advisable. There is a good selection of small plates with something to suit everyone. The pizzas come in 2 sizes (quarter and half metre; no imperial measurements here!) and are perfect to share supplemented by a few of the other dishes.

A major overhaul of a long established deli has given Kilmacolm a Bar/Gellateria/Restaurant and a very welcome addition it is too. Delicious ice cream plus classic Italian dishes has already made this the default for families for casual dining due to the friendly service and delicious food. You will not regret a visit.

I had high expectations for my visit to Pieris, having previously visited the cafe before it moved I was always impressed with the standard of the food. I called to make a reservation but was told there was no tables left and I was offered a sofa- looking into the restaurant the sofas looked like little booths so I accepted. When we arrived we were quite shocked to discover we had been placed at sofas with a table which I can only describe was made for midgets!! This made it extremely uncomfortable to eat our meals having to bend over at the table.. I was really surprised staff even offered these seats for people to eat food at. The staff were friendly although service for drinks was quite slow but it was a busy Friday night. I ordered a pasta dish and wasn't overly impressed by the standard especially for the prices charged. The ice-cream however is fantastic and I'll continue to use Pieris for breakfast or lunch to takeaway but I'm not sure I would sit in to eat again.

Found the food to be average (ice cream is amazing though) but the surroundings are nice and it is a good addition to Kilmacolm.

Lovely decor. Comfortable seating. Friendly staff. Tasty delicious food. Good prices. My friend would have preferred a larger serving of pasta but enjoyed what she had. I enjoyed the burger and chips which was tasty and presented well. We followed with ice cream and pastries. Which were delicious. Would go again.

Pieri's is exactly what Kilmacolm has been crying out for ! We have now visited on a number of occasions - with both friends and family. No one has been disappointed. Absolutely first class. Great menu and when we visited on New Years Eve - we were delighted to find some 'Specials' being introduced. My son and I had the Veal - couldn't fault it. The restaurant has a great buzz and fantastic that we can now walk to a local restaurant or simply pop out for a early glass of wine/beer on a Friday or Saturday night. My only tip is make sure you book as very busy even through the week. Great for morning coffee and breakfast as well. We have now saved a fortune on cabs into Glasgow - no longer need to go into the Town for a great night - its now on the doorstep !

I was a bit unsure about using this place for a group of 9 for a Christmas party meal, but it did not let us down. It far surpassed my expectations. The food was wonderful - city centre standard and far surpasses any of the other mediocre Italians in the local vicinity. Loved it. Look forward to going again.

My first visit to this new cafe for coffee and a toasted scone on a cold and wet morning. There was a friendly welcome and good service. The ice cream is first class with a good variety to choose from. I look forward to further visits for lunch and evening meal. The coffee is excellent.

We ate a very good lunch here. My steak panini was delicious and the pizza's enjoyed by the other two family members were deemed to be very tasty. The portions were generous and the restaurant has a good feel to it. We intend to return and try out the evening meals

Living in Scotland and loving Italy, this amazing place successfully combines both.

I hope there is a more happy atmosphere when the new café opens up, I think the staff are afraid to speak to the customers incase they get into trouble from the manager,(so its not their fault).you get more from your staff if you treat them nice

A small traditional and family run Italian cafe of a type now sadly rare. The ice cream is absolutely superb and the coffee is absolutely awful. Sadly this Kilmacolm institution is closing soon. It will be greatly missed.

Heard that this place did some of the best home made ice cream in the area so had to give it a try. Very small little deli and cafe with loads of cheeses and things to buy. I had the nutella ice cream which was fantastic and you could just tell that it was home made. The staff weren't the friendliest but the ice cream made up for it!

I went here to buy some food and a coffee. I was really disappointed with the coffee which was not only weak but had a metallic taste to it. The baguette I got had chicken which was cut into pieces 1cm square. I could not tell if this was chicken from a compressed roll or breast meat. But from the £5 I spent I've been left with a bad taste in my mouth. Your coffee machine needs cleaned McDonald's serve a better coffe at less the cost.

The ice cream from Pieris is legendary - dangerous to buy a big tub to take home!!!!! Always a high chance of sitting with it on the sofa with a spoon! Yum!
