Common areas : very worn out and looking old and outdated Rooms: look okay at first glance, BUT, no air conditioning or heating, carpet is DIRTY, the bed headboard was oily from someone else’s scalp it is very gross. The pillow on my couch was colored in pink and blue by some kid… no plugs near the bed. The breakfast: honestly poor and or very low quality, no fresh bread or pancakes everything is premade and thrown there. For the same price you can eat much better outside. For 20 pounds more per night you can be in a 4* hotel P.s: can we talk about the fact that it’s 2024, and WIFI IS NOT INCLUDED 🫣

Very nice hotel located in a great area, the transport links from the hotel are great, bus stop right outside and the tram station is only a few minutes walk. If you want somewhere quiet and cosy with a bath then this is your place. All the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Close to all amenities and for us the theatre rooms were clean and tidy and for a change a nice unexpected shower instead of a shower I a bath

Fantastic location on Portland Street. If you are going to Manchester Academy it is on the bus route and walking distance. Fantastic front of house staff, will be returning if I visit Manchester!

You usually know what you're going to get with a Premier Inn but this one wasn't really up to standard. Firstly, the location is excellent, located on Portland Street, just off Oxford Road near the Paramount Wetherspoons. It's easy to miss the entrance though, as it's an unassuming door only. The reception area is tiny, though it's easy to check in at a kiosk if there's a queue. One of the lifts was being repaired (this was the same last year). On entering the room, I was met with an incredibly humid and hot environment. An office fan was trying its best but to no avail - the window only opened slightly ajar. The temperature control unit had no batteries and the cover, assumed intentionally, has been removed. So the temp control was an office fan. The room itself was tired and dated, which was a surprise considering the email sent pre visit mentioned how rooms had been updated and renovated. Scuffed wooden table, pretty dirty carpet etc. Certainly not the case here. Sleep was not great, which was not ideal considering I was in Manchester for two crucial exams, thanks to the heat and the noise from the annoying but necessary office fan and the whirring of the generators from outside. Overall, a disappointing stay. Convenient location wise but badly in need of a refurbishment.

Worst of all! No air conditioner! It was NOT mentioned in website nor email of booking confirmation. Only a fan was provided in summer, open window to let air circulation, then you cannot sleep due to the noise outside!?! Good sleep guarantee is totally a joke, have complained to staff and wrote email! No answer at all. Definitely not normal premier inn standard, definitely premier inn Germany are much better.

Stayed here on 29/6/24 as it was close to where me and my daughter were going to a gig. Worst Premier Inn I have ever stayed in. Room never got below 28 degrees. Windows do not open and one cheap fan is used to 'cool' the room. Left the room with fan on full and curtains closed, returned to a room after the gig now 30 degrees. Slept in my boxers with a wet t -shirt draped over me if you can call it sleep. Yeah I should have complained at the time but we were exhausted . Mentioned it to the receptionist who told me the building was old and couldn't put in air con. Complained online and got the following reply. Hi Thomas, Thanks so much for taking the time to get in touch to share the experience of your stay at our Manchester City Centre (Portland Street) Premier Inn. I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay due to your room being too hot. I do apologise for this. Whilst I do understand your frustration, unfortunately the hotel you had booked does not have air con facilities available. This would have been highlighted to you at the time of booking. I apologise for the overall experience. Please be assured that your feedback is very valuable to us and has been shared with the hotel management team so you can rest easy knowing we’ll be using it to help us to improve. If you stay with us again and experience any more problems, please give one of our reception team members a shout. They’re around 24/7 and will be more than happy to help you out. Thanks again for taking the time out to give us feedback. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards, Raihan Guest Relations Advisor I replied, Nowhere on the website does it say all windows are unopenable and that when it is warm the rooms are unbearable. This is not a satisfactory response. I do not check if hotels are unfit for human habitation if its more than 25 degrees outside. You have lost yourself a customer. They did not reply. Good night sleep guarantee? Not at this branch it seems. Avoid. Plenty of other, better hotels in Manchester. In the morning it was rainy (its Manchester after all) and 13 degrees outside. Our room was still 30 degrees.

Good room, good service and well located for visiting Manchester, short walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station and Manchester Piccadilly Gardens for a range of bus services including a regular service to RHS Bridgewater Garden.

Lovely little Premier Inn ideally located for connecting to shows etc if you plan to use Piccadilly as your transport hub. Staff friendly. Rooms clean. Spacious enough for a family of three. Wasn’t much noise either considering we stayed on a Friday night. Recommend.

Great hotel and very comfy rooms. The noise of ventilation aggregate in the courtyard is a bit annoying by night and forced me to close the window. The room can get quite hot because of this

There was loud music until midnight that kept us from sleeping, there were two hairs in the bath tub/shower and the extra pillows case was missing the tab to say they are fresh. The hotel is very run down and falling apart - avoid.

Rooms were nice and the location was great but the staff seemed very shot handed. They were great but long wait times at reception for anything and ongoing maintenance dampened what could have been a great stay

I don't ask too much of hotels and I always thought the Premier Inn kept to a certain minimum standard so you always knew what you were getting, however, this hotel can be best described as trying but tired. For whatever reason Premier Inn seem to have invested less in this one that others around. Carpets were discoloured and stained, the lifts looked old, the reception looked worn in the corner, and there seem to be construction bits going on. While the beds and rooms are clean, the stains and discoloured areas don't give an overwhelming sense of cleanliness. Saw a tiny hair in my egg on my last morning, so while the food was generally good, this left a negative dent on my evaluation.

Room was clean and spacious. Wasn’t too noisy. I had to queue for about 15 mins to get checked in at around 6pm, the staff were friendly and helpful when I asked for an iron before 7am. Location is great, right in the middle of everything. Lots of restaurants, bars and plenty of choice across the food delivery apps if you didn’t want to go out! Overall perfectly fine stay for work.

EXPECT FIRE SIREMS TO SOUNDS OFF 11 IN THE MORNING. I don’t expect American style customer service but their customer service has a lot to be desired. You can tell reception staff don’t really want to be there. Putting that aside I would never stay in this particular premier inn again purely because of the fire alarm that sounds off really loud at 11am then again at 11:30am They startled me and my hubby in bed. We honestly thought it was a fire. I guess that was our rude awakening to leave the premises!! Far from relaxing stay.

Staff always lovely.. Very hard working aswell.. Been four times.. However this time i noticed that the hoover needs using in the halls.. Our room wasnt as clean as normal.. Bin was full from last guess. No hoover had been run over the carpet and my bath towel didnt seem clean. Window was dripping with water and curtains full of black mold.. Told reception he just said i wil tell house keeping.. Please get some sort of air in the windows... i ended up wiping them around 20 times. And black mold isn't good with how hot the room gets. A few updates needed..

The room was massive, very surprising. Only issue with that means you can't watch TV from bed. The shower power was poor though, really weak. The staff are terrific, cant do enough, especially Surinder/Surinda (sp?); bright, cheerful, friendly and eager. Location is very good, another 2-300 yards closer to the city centre qpuls be good but it's no biggy

Staff not reactive to who waiting to be served. Very ageist. Too busy serving people they knew. Lots of staff roaming around doing nothing instead of serving. Won't be going back. Overpriced crap! It's just lucky it's beside the tram stop. Good for rainy days n that's about it

Thank you so much to Sarika to welcome us even late at night and make sure we were comfortable. She patiently gave us ample time to go through the menu before we ordered. It’s the second time we’ve been here and we definitely coming back again.

Went with a large group of friends (10), many of whom were vegetarian and vegan. I'm not, but am allergic to milk, and the server was very helpful in checking what contained milk products, and what could be substituted. Another friend doesn't like spicy food so was advised as to which sauce to swap for the spicy one that'd normally come on the meal she ordered. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and although we arrived as a large group without pre-booking (N.B. you're not able to book online for large groups), we were able to wait 10-15 mins so they could fit us in. Prices were reasonable and the food was good, plus they had a good variety of drinks. Another friend joined us just for drinks a bit later. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
