Premier Inn Edinburgh A7 (Dalkeith) hotel in Midlothian

Our 2nd visit to this particular Premier Inn, 5 years apart. The hotel is nice, the rooms are a good size and are decorated in a modern standard. The wifi isn't great, even the premium is far from a premium service, wouldn't even bother with the standard wifi, it's not worth the effort. (I believe this is the case with many if not all Premier Inns) The location is nice if you don't want to stay right in the city, we did have issues getting to the City Centre one of the days we stayed but it was snowing quite heavily, so that's not the norm. The train station is a short drive away giving you a good way to get in and out of the city. Our room was nice but had a horrid smell just upon entering each time, the smell disappeared quickly but was there each time we entered. Definitely something the cleaning team should pick up on. Honestly I probably wouldn't stay here again as its just a bit too much of a pain getting into the city centre especially on a Sunday with trains only every hour (if they're not cancelled) but it is a nice hotel.

To be honest, the rooms and the hotel is a little too pricey for what you get. Old building with thin walls, not the best hospitality and not the best of locations.

Staff did not stop people running around, making noise from 23.00 to 00.30, so it's not good night's sleep. Breakfast was as expected. Plan to have your evening meal elsewhere, and it looks like permanent staff problems, so only drinks are available in the restaurant.

Wanted to express my disappointment with the recent experience I had during my stay at this hotel. As a loyal customer who frequently chooses Premier Inn for all my trips due to the consistently excellent service and hospitality, I was extremely disappointed with the level of service provided at the establishment. Unfortunately, I found the hospitality and overall service to be far below the standard I have come to expect from Premier Inn. The experience was, in a word, pathetic (which is the most polite term I can use to describe it). I believe this does not reflect the values and quality that Premier Inn typically stands for.

Rooms are ok for a stay during a trip or business travel. The location is good. Staff at the hotel reception were good and helpful. Very good and big parking area. Overall satisfied with the hotel part. I stayed with my family and pre-booked a buffet breakfast which was a total waste of time and money. The staff were not attentive and I cannot call it a buffet breakfast. What we ordered and what we got were totally different and no one ever came to us to check the orders. We spent almost an hour waiting for someone to attend. After that we called one staff member and requested to get the food. Felt some clear discrimination for all of us. Anyway we were satisfied with the stay and the experience from the restaurant affected our overall satisfaction level and will never consider the restaurant again. We were planning to check out by 12. We immediately checked out and moved to Edinburgh city and had a nice breakfast 😊

Great wee place. Clean, pleasant and good friendly staff. Pity the tvs so small but only here over nite. Great wee place tho, just being picky.

Comfortable bed, clean room, attentive staff.

Basic hotel, stayed 3 nights due to work and left a clean my room please sign both mornings and nothing was cleaned or swapped like towels etc. Pub next door was decent though.
