Despite inflation pushing up the prices of many items, poundbakery is an affordable affair. Sausage, bean and cheese pastry is the goto. Among the better chains of fast food.

If there's one place I know I'm going to visit if I see one it's Pound Bakery, love the pastries in here ,on our recent trip to Lancaster we visited here twice and on both occasions we really enjoyed their cheese bakes. It's your typical Pound Bakery, modern, light and airy interior, glass fronted serving bar showcases the goodies on offer and the staff in here are really friendly. This is certainly a popular bakery ,on both our visits we had to queue but wait was short and rewards were good ,love the cheese bakes in here ,just so tasty, totally filling and great value for money and with my twin brother Stephen and I pub hopping around this part of town the perfect meal on the go ,this Pound Bakery is easy to locate along Penny Street and is most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

The PoundBakery on Penny street is a very good chain of UK bakeries that offer a fine range of savouries and pastries and drinks at very affordable prices. Located in the main shopping area where there are many fast food outlets and very easy to find'we visited here twice while we were on a two day break in Lancaster. On both occasion's we went here we had a pack of cheese bakes and a baguette that were extremely well priced and was a nice snack while we where walking to Lancaster train station. If you are looking for a tasty snack try one of PoundBakery's snacks.Very easy to find from Common Garden street bus stop its a short walk. (This is my first review of the PoundBakery). Opening Hours. Monday-Saturday-08.30-17.00. Sunday-11.00-15.00. Nearest Bus Stop. Common Garden street bus stop.

For the price 0 complaints, yes maybe the spices are not quite there and yes it taste kind of bland , but it feeds the streets. Especially in tough economic times, we need concepts like this.

I went before closing and had a traditional pasty (I was told that they are not allowed to use the word "Cornish"!) and a meat pie for just £1.50. Both were very tasty and amazing value. The street has numerous eateries and take aways, including Greggs, but this is just as good as the latter, but much cheaper.

love this place always go here for a cheap lunch on the go the baguette are lovely and fresh , tasty and very economical, the feesh cream cake are astoundingly cheap , that come in takeaway boxes to bring home for a treat. My favourite is the vanilla slices 2 for £1 smae as the cream doughnuts . Fabulous .

You kind of get what you pay for, sandwiches not great but they fill a hole. Good deals on pies and pastries. The cakes are good.

I don't think this place is just cheap and cheerful. I think it is cheap and good. Certainly, the pies are just as tasty as those from Greggs. But you can buy two chicken slices for £1 here! The shop does a brisk trade and the staff are pleasant.

Popped in here last week to grab a couple of pasties. I'm afraid they were not the best and the staff were rather less than friendly. I'd rather pay a little more at a large chain and get a better product and better service.

I am from a culture where street food is popular, but is of a notable quality. Basically, it isn't awful. This is cheap (by English standards) but is such poor quality that I really couldn't taste much more than pastry.

The Pound Bakery offers unriveled prices when it comes to buying pasties in Lancaster. For anyone who loves Greggs, the Pound Bakery is well worth a visit. Unfortunately, the pupularity of the Pound Bakery means that often they have run out of items before lunchtime is even over. Being vegetarian, there are only two choices when buying warm savory pastries - vegetarian sausage rolls or cheese pasties. The vegetarian sausage rolls are completely devoid of flavour or seasoning. The cheese and onion pasties are lovely things, but sell out fast. Often when I visit there are no cheese and onion pasties left or there is just one, meaning I cannot benefit from the two for £1 offer. It'd be really nice to see some more vegetarian options and choices when it comes to pies and savory warm pasties included in the two for £1 offer. Meat eaters have so much more choice and still opt for cheese and onion pasties, leaving non meat eaters with no choice whatsoever, but to go elsewhere. At one point the bakery made vegetale pies, which I miss. A lot. But even just a butter pie or simple vegetable pasty would be great.

OK, so Pound Bakery's offerings are a quid (even two for a quid) and for that money, there's not much you can moan about. However, my review is based upon my visit on Sunday 8th October, busy with lunch customers. It'd be all to easy for the staff to get flustered faced with family groups changing their mind, students from afar just in at the University wondering what delights are in store, never mind my eight year old who wanted a sausage roll but was told they were all out (see family group above) and him n ot even liking a pasty. What to do??? Sandwiches? Yukky salad :( Breakfast muffin? Egg :( Thankfully, the lady serving us offered to make a sausage muffin for him and that was great. She could have said "that's it" and dealt with the remaining customers. But she sorted us out with a double sausage muffin and a sachet of ketchup. Thank you :)

We had a pasty each, enjoyed it so much we went back for steak pies. Never thought you would get this type of food for £1 steak pies each, 2 pasties for £1. We also bought 4 mince pies for £1. Lovely.

Friendly staff, great choice of pies, pasties, sandwiches, cakes etc. Always purchase more than what I went in for. Fantastic prices. The pasty on the meat and potato pies is the best, I buy in bulk. Thank you

Short review: Must visit fish & chip in Lancashire, UK. Highly recommended. Detailed review: On our March 2022 trip to Lancaster, Hodgson’s chippy was on our to-do list. It is a multiple award winning chippy, especially at the start of the millennium. We got to know about this place when we were aimlessly flipping across a book titled, ‘Make the most of your time in Britain’ Chapter 111: Tracking down the perfect chippy in Lancashire. This accidental browsing in a way encouraged us to plan our trip to the sleepy county town of Lancaster. Must say, we were impressed by this fryer. Open from noon to 8pm on all days besides Sunday, one could order their meal online with the website being very user friendly. We did not use the app, hence cannot comment. There is no dine in option & no delivery. It is a small brown- bricked, curb side pickup located close to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. When you reach the chippy during busy hours, you are handed a device which bleeps/startles you once your meal is ready. In addition to the specials board, there is a small panel which states the origin & variety of the potato and where the cod was caught. The chips, best consumed hot, are giant finger-thick, chunky, creamy and not at all greasy. While writing this review, my mouth has suddenly started salivating, reminiscing about the crunchy breaded haddock and scampi and the mind blowing tartare sauce. The battered cod was tasty and good in its own league, but in a way pales in comparison to the scampi and breaded haddock. Needless to say, the fish was extremely fresh, the food was well seasoned & the entire experience was worth the visit. I am still drooling and tempted to drive up to Lancaster and relive this feast. Ah…the power of a great meal! Updated review - summer of 2024 Revisited it on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was quite empty. The breaded fish and scampi were still very good. Good tartare sauce and mushy peas. The salt and pepper squid, fish cake and cheesy chips were OK, not great. I would not recommend adding salt and vinegar while placing the order. Instead, buy a bottle to prevent the food from getting soggy. Rookie mistake, I know. Parking near the chippy can be difficult. There are two car parks - Nelson Street car park and Williamson Park Car park around 11 mins walk from the venue. Williamson Park is great on a good clear day. There is a Golocal corner shop bang opposite the chippy for a wider selection of drinks. Enjoy!
