Came down from Kendal for some fish and chips. Excellent fish and chips. Made to order with fresh fish. Decent sized fish. Pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend.

Called in while being on holiday. We had been in the best pub ( The Smugglers) in Morcambe, all the regulars suggested this chippy. Very friendly couple behind the counter, fish cooked to perfection and to order. Top class. Andy and Linda( the Scottish couple.)

I live locally to Poulton Square Fish & Chips and can only recommend it highly. Service is fast and friendly and the food is excellent. Fish (cod and haddock) and meats, chicken, and burgers are cooked as you wait and are always juicy with crispy batter on the fish. Chips are cooked and never re-heated, as claimed in a review elsewhere on this site). A variety of kid-size meals are available if required. I have lived in this area long enough to have known both the current and previous owners and while the previous owners had a reputation for quality, I can only say that under the current owner it has improved. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

We had fish and chips and took them down to the promenade to watch the sunset. Fish was freshly cooked to order with lovely batter and moist fish. Delicious and well priced.

Visited here based on the review. Some way from the main part of the promenade and about a 5 min walk from the sea front. Service was OK and you wait outside whilst it was cooked. We are it on the sea front and unfortunately what a disappointment. The chips were very soggy, seemed to have sat a while and then re cooked. Could not eat them. The fish which I assume was cooked fresh as we waited was well over cooked. The batter was hard and not great to eat. My Partner had exactly the same comments. 80% of it went in the bin and a waste of 15 quid. Not sure why our experience was so different from other reviews.

We popped in for a fish and chip and a fish cake. It is only few minutes front the sea. Quality was good, price was good. Covid management is good, table outside for waiting hand sanitiser, screens, contactless transfer etc

Just had fish and chips here after a long walk along the coast. Fish was freshly cooked and was absolutely delicious. The chips were spot-on too. The place looks clean and cared for, the owners were friendly and gave speedy service. Went on the back of TripAdvisor reviews, plus it's only a 5 minute walk from the Travelodge where I'm staying. There's a fish and chip shop that seemed to be closed a few doors away.... initially I thought it was the one I'd been looking for. One final thing, as one of the photos already shows, it's not actually called "Poulton Square Fish & Chips", just "Fish and Chips" but it IS on Poulton Square. If I'm in Morecambe again I'll be returning.

Good quality haddock in batter, mushy peas and sausage. They also have a few Chinese special dishes cooked to order. Probably the best in Morecambe

It's a typical Greggs. Nothing special about it. Great for a quick bite to eat. TL;DR It's a Greggs.

Short review: Must visit fish & chip in Lancashire, UK. Highly recommended. Detailed review: On our March 2022 trip to Lancaster, Hodgson’s chippy was on our to-do list. It is a multiple award winning chippy, especially at the start of the millennium. We got to know about this place when we were aimlessly flipping across a book titled, ‘Make the most of your time in Britain’ Chapter 111: Tracking down the perfect chippy in Lancashire. This accidental browsing in a way encouraged us to plan our trip to the sleepy county town of Lancaster. Must say, we were impressed by this fryer. Open from noon to 8pm on all days besides Sunday, one could order their meal online with the website being very user friendly. We did not use the app, hence cannot comment. There is no dine in option & no delivery. It is a small brown- bricked, curb side pickup located close to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. When you reach the chippy during busy hours, you are handed a device which bleeps/startles you once your meal is ready. In addition to the specials board, there is a small panel which states the origin & variety of the potato and where the cod was caught. The chips, best consumed hot, are giant finger-thick, chunky, creamy and not at all greasy. While writing this review, my mouth has suddenly started salivating, reminiscing about the crunchy breaded haddock and scampi and the mind blowing tartare sauce. The battered cod was tasty and good in its own league, but in a way pales in comparison to the scampi and breaded haddock. Needless to say, the fish was extremely fresh, the food was well seasoned & the entire experience was worth the visit. I am still drooling and tempted to drive up to Lancaster and relive this feast. Ah…the power of a great meal! Updated review - summer of 2024 Revisited it on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was quite empty. The breaded fish and scampi were still very good. Good tartare sauce and mushy peas. The salt and pepper squid, fish cake and cheesy chips were OK, not great. I would not recommend adding salt and vinegar while placing the order. Instead, buy a bottle to prevent the food from getting soggy. Rookie mistake, I know. Parking near the chippy can be difficult. There are two car parks - Nelson Street car park and Williamson Park Car park around 11 mins walk from the venue. Williamson Park is great on a good clear day. There is a Golocal corner shop bang opposite the chippy for a wider selection of drinks. Enjoy!
